Hasbro and HunterPR were kind enough to pass along one of these sets for us to review.

Clicky to go to the Full Story!

Feel free to check it out and see what interesting things I discovered with the set.  Namely, I have to say, I was surprised how much I liked certain figures.  I'm also a bit surprised how much I liked the complete set itself.  It's a great overall Saga piece that looks like it'd display really nice.

People hoping for mint carded figures though, beware.  You're probably going to have to order a set or find them at retail for truly mint cards.

And the Jar Jar in Carbonite...  A blueprint for things to come?

Check it out.  I haven't been able to devote a lot of time to a long review in a while, and whew was that a longer one.

Apologies for pictures...  My 10MP camera isn't up to snuff with what other folks have but it did ok.  Finding a place to shoot pictures of an item this big was maybe a bigger pain to figure out!

Share your thoughts when you're done reading!

Seriously though, I'm tempted on at least the trooper.  I really like that one.  Very well done, detailed, lots of good gear too with the extra rifle the exclusive guy has.  A nice nod there.

May cave here.  Between him, Bossk, and IG-88, I'm really looking at getting something soon.

Collector's Tips / Tiered Shelving (The Spice Rack Thread)
« on: July 3, 2012, 02:57 AM »
Found these at Wal-Mart recently, and decided they'd make a nice story for someone looking for something cheap, fairly efficient and customizable right out of the box, and which had the potential for expanded customizability without a lot of effort (IE: A quick spraypaint job to make it more Star Warsy).

Clicky to go to the story!

I've bought a couple...  I've already got some simple customizing ideas for this particular spice rack, but I was thinking you could customize each one to any specific environment with minimal effort...  I have a pretty elaborate plan for one that I really hope to get done, but I'm not quite sure how I'm going to go about it just yet.  :)

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / New 1/6 Vader?
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:23 PM »
Sure seems that way...

Yeesh I'll want this one.  I passed on the first. :(

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/experience/2012/06/15/behind-the-scenes-look-at-a-sith-lord/

Kinda glad I did wait though as I'd want a removable bucket one...  I'm just dejected at the inevitable cost it'll be.  I can't see this one being even $150 to $180, but it's the one I'll want as a "centerpiece" type item in my collection.

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Sideshow Cmdr. Fox
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:20 PM »
Incase you haven't noticed, it seems a 1/6 Commander Fox figure from The Clone Wars is being teased for SDCC...  Not wild about the "piece at a time" teasing since it makes reporting him a bit of a pain, but yeah...

Check him out!

And like them and they reveal a new piece with each 1000 new fans.

The Vintage Collection / Star Wars: 1313 - The Figures
« on: June 1, 2012, 01:25 PM »
This seems like it's going to have a bit of a push to it that goes beyond just the game.  Maybe a book or something, maybe a bit more.  There's already speculation on figures.

Since so little is known about the game right now, I thought I'd just start a thread for any speculation.

The "Imperial Gunship" type thing looks cool but quite sizable...  Not counting on that happening.  One never knows though, I guess.

The Vintage Collection / K-Mart Exclusive Vintage ROTJ AT-ST
« on: May 16, 2012, 11:03 PM »
K-Mart gets an exclusive, again, that you may or may not care about...

First,
Sandtroopers.com has the scoop on this, so go check it out!  Clicky the image to see it.

But second...  Yeah, you own this right?  Well, not really...  This is the AT-ST repaint, at least it seems anyway, attempting to recreate the walker that Chewie and his little dingleberries attempt to commandeer for the Rebel Alliance!

So assuming it's not particularly cheap, but not particularly expensive, where does this fit in your collecting world?

For me, this is an easy purchase...  I have literally a stack of AT-ST's from Wal-Mart...  I'm semi-hopeful they're going to fix the walking joints so that they're less prone to cracking, but that'll only be known with time and opening one up.  What I'm more geeked about is the deco.  The original's deco was plain which I liked for army building.  The 2nd one was an inaccurate Hoth one since that walker has significant differences in its design.

This one though, I like that they're trying to give fans the specific walker with the damage on the nose, which served as the life-size prop/set piece, which Chewie and the Ewok hijackers take.  :)  It'll be THE walker I display since I want to display it specifically with its appropriate Ewoks and Chewbacca.  Might even have it standing over a destroyed one of the Wal-Mart walkers.

This is far cooler than the B-Wing, or TRU's half-assed Y-Wing.  I think this is, somewhat shockingly, K-Mart for the win.

These are in stock at Brian's Toys now if you want to order a set and avoid buying a full case, and looking around for them at retail wasting gas.

Announcements / JD Give Away - The Book Of Elizabeth
« on: April 3, 2012, 02:18 PM »
Our own forumite, and another (wow) published author among our community, was kind enough to donate TWO copies of his book The Book Of Elizabeth as prizes to our readers on the site.

We're going to do something different with this contest though.  Basically there are no rules to enter as we're going to draw names from a pool of past entries into contests who did not win!  So sit back, check out Darby's blog of course, relax, and wait to see if you won or not, as we will notify you via PM when you do (probably asking for your contact info)!

Obviously a big thanks should go to Darby for donating two copies.  It's always great to see the accomplishments of our forumites!

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / 1/6 Tusken Raider
« on: March 29, 2012, 08:57 PM »
Nice to see another type of character get the 12" treatment from Sideshow...  I was kind of tiring on Clones there.  The Sandperson looks good.  I like Hasbro's though, and think it was one of their better figures.  It'll be interesting to see how much better SS can do, since they almost always do.

Joe Defender / Question Regarding Action Man/Z Force
« on: March 28, 2012, 01:21 PM »
I'm curious, as I really don't know much about them, but are the 3.75" Z Force/Action Man/British GI Joes readily available for decent prices?  I am having trouble finding much on Ebay, but what I do find tends to be on the cheaper side...  I'm kind of curious more about lots of loose figures though, rather than one here or there.

And obviously would much prefer buying here than overseas.  :-\

Doesn't seem like many folks here are interested in them at all.

The Vintage Collection / Keeping Cardbacks
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:16 PM »
Anyone actually keeping the cardbacks to the Vintage Collection, but not keeping figures carded?

Just curious if that's something any/everyone considered other than myself...  I just dug out my original VOTC, VTSC, etc. cards too...  Together, they're neat looking with all these new figures.

They're cranking these out pretty well...  :)

Love these, but can't jump into them.  I'll stick with original little guys, but yeah these are great. :)

After tinkering around with some headswapping, I thought I'd start a thread on it that we can have handy for those curious about what heads work with what figures, and which maybe barely do, perhaps with only slight modification.

I'm not entirely sure how to do this thread, actually...  if I should just update the first or second post with the headswaps that work, as they're submitted, or what we'll do, but we're going to give this a whirl as something to have handy here as new figures come out.

I'm going to ONLY include heads that need slight, or no modifications...  This is less a thread for customizing, and more a thread for swaps that aren't terribly hard for anyone to do, or more for heads that require zero modification at all.

This is a work in progress, and will only get my attention when I have the time, which isn't often these days, but I'm just giving fair warning, and don't be offended if I don't get to your suggestions right away. :)  I'll try to stay on this as much as possible.

Feedback / tmanthegreat's feedback
« on: February 27, 2012, 09:53 PM »
Tmanthegreat is a buddy of mine from 1:18 military collecting and he JUST helped me out with getting an animated Bossk for my Bossk focus.  Yes, Bossk's Bungalow is a little more complete today.

Thanks Tristan, I appreciate it bud!
