One of the first reports from Toy Fair. Looks like this will be a promotion for this year. More info to come, I guess. Kinda of an odd mail-away. I wonder what needs to be done to send in for it?
Credit Goes to Bantha Skull for the first scoop (http://www.banthaskull.com/)
-
Awesome. As long as it's the same as the one that came with Qui-Gon eons ago, which most US collectors never had the chance to get, I think it's awesome. But does Qui-Gon come with it? And is it one of those UPC collect-to-get dealies?
-
I recently spent about $50 on an Eopie on eBay because it was one of the last figures that I didn't have.
So the part of me that paid $50 for one sort of hopes this one is different. But the part of me that's not an ******* hopes it's the same so no one else has to do what I did.
-
Unexpected and awesome news! Looking forward to more details. :)
-
So the part of me that paid $50 for one sort of hopes this one is different.
The 10th Anniversary TPM mail-awat Eopie is a repaint.. and it comes with EVO Qui-Gon, so it has a differnt pack-in figure. ;)
I wonder what needs to be done to send in for it?
There will be stickers in the 2009 TPM wave of figures - use the stickers to send away for the Eopie. :)
-
That's cool. So hopefully, it's just the extra shipping and handling (besides the figures for the stickers) that we'll have to pay for to get this set. Wonder what that will be. :)
-
Rob-I bought this back around 2001 for 45.00 or so, open, at a collector shop. I don't regret it!
-
Sounds kind of cool for a mail-away. I always sort of hoped to pick one of these up, but figured I wouldn't be able to aside from a re-release - so its a nice surprise for the TPM 10th Anniversary. I'd be buying the wave anyways, so its nice to have the bonus (with shipping of course).
-
I've been waiting for them to do this since 2000 (well, maybe not this exactly, but redo the Eopie) so I'm excited. I will need two - one for QG, and one for Obi in ROTS. Hopefully the stickers are generic (I sense many Gungans in my future...)
-
Awesome, though I have the original loose. Wonder if it will bring the pice of the original down so I can get one in E1 packaging.
-
Yeah, I'm gonna need a few of these. :)
-
Getting it solely for the Eopie. I wish I would have known about this a year ago so I wouldn't have dropped $20+ on that Evolution set solely for the Qui-Gon, I would have just waited and gotten it here.
-
I didn't see details on the promotion - anyone know how many stickers you need to get this and how much we'll have to pay for S&H? I can just see this being ten stickers and $10-15 shipping or more given what we had to pay for Rex. :P
-
This just seems really odd for a mail away type offer..

Hasbro's last mail away was for GI Joe Doc with stickers from the comic packs. Most of you probably don't know all the drama behind that, but I hope Hasbro has learned a lesson - even though that left a very bad taste in many collector's mouths. Hopefully this comes with a small brown piece of shiny plastic though.

What happened with the Joe packs?
-
I'm pretty pumped just to get the chance to get a few Eopies for the Tatooine **** shelf. One for QGJ, one for Obi to make the handoff, and maybe a couple just for some Jawas or something.
-
You need one so Jar Jar can sniff its farts too. :P
-
Good call... Maybe I could make it smell like that one Masters of the Universe figure did.
Or maybe I'll just eliminate all Jar Jar and give an extra Eopie to anything remotely better on the shelf. Even Darth Vader can ride one or something.
-
What happened with the Joe packs?
6 comic pack stickers + $4.95 = 1 Doc figure. Hasbro cashed everybody's checks/money orders but they weren't sending about half of the figures out to people as promised. Took me more than six months instead of 6-8 weeks as promised. Eventually had to call Hasbro and fax over copies of my cashed checks since I wasn't on their "list" Very long and drawn out. There's about 800 different threads on it over at Hisstank.com. Anywhoo.....
-
Similar problems did not occur on the Rex or Indy offers, I wouldn't worry too much about it
-

Rex was super easy, and Indy they are actually getting more figures made because people sent in more orders than they had figures for.
-

STINKOR. I have one for trade if youw ant it. ;)
-
I will be getting at least three of these. One to keep MIP/MIB, one to have open and one to give Obi-Wan from EP3.
I think this is a great idea for a mail-away. I'm a bit surprised that they did this, but I'm glad they did.
I'm still waiting on all of my Crystal Skeletons, but I had no problem getting all of my Captain Rex figures, so hopefully, this will be easy to get.
I'm not expecting this to be any more proof-of-purchase or stickers, but I do expect us to pay double or triple for "shipping".
-
I'll be happy to get this set. I have one from the EPI era. But, I always wanted at least one more. Thanks Hasbro, even though it is a bit late in the offering.
-
You need one so Jar Jar can sniff its farts too. :P
Yeah, Hasbro should have included a fart smelling Jar-Jar figure instead of a high quality Qui-Gon! It should have included a commtech chip to with the "Pee-yousa!" line. Then this set would really be in demand.
-
I'm very glad this is being rereleased but I don't know if I'll bother since I'm not going to pick up the needed basic figures in the first place.
And I'm still getting used to seeing the words "10th Anniversary" and "The Phantom Menace" in the same sentence. (http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/30.gif)

I have to say, $7 for the Eopie and Qui-Gon is surpringly affordable! :o
-
I'm going to clear off room on the shelf for my new eopie herd.
-
It's more like $50 for us who don't open stuff which means I'll have to be good with my Ep 1 version.
-
It's more like $50 for us who don't open stuff
All you have to do is ask and I'm sure someone in the MN group can hook you up with 5 UPCs to save you that "$50". :P
-
They don't have to be the new packaging either since the Asst. numbers are the same as the blue trooper packaging.
-
This is the reason I keep all my cardbacks. My time has come! ;D

1 cardback = 10 JediMaster points, which basically makes you rich beyond your wildest dreams.
-
$7!? That's way less than I expected. Kudos to Hasbro for keeping this on the cheap side.
-
Nice deal. Between this and the decent price on the SDCC exclusives, Hasbro's scoring a few points with me this week.
-
I concur... There's a lot to bitch about with price hikes and this and that, but they did keep shipping on this reasonable, and 5 UPC's is nice/easy to achieve. Same with the SDCC exclusives actually being affordable for once. Or reasonably so... Kudos all around to Hasbro on that.
-
Can I use UPCs from the Blue/White packaged Clone Wars, Legacy or Legends figures?
If so, I'm going to get my redemption request in ASAP.
-
Good thing I still have a bunch of unopened army builders, as I usually throw the packages away instantly. Although it's still a good excuse to snag even more army builders...
Does it say anything about using leftover Indiana Jones relic stickers? I have like 30 I'm never going to use, might as well try and send em back to Hasbro. :P

I sent my Indy stickers in over 7 months ago and still don't have the Crystal Skeletons. Save the stamp.
-
This is the reason I keep all my cardbacks. My time has come! ;D
I, on the other hand, have just purged all may empties, dating back to 1995. :P
-
Over the last two months I opened all the Stormie/Clone blue & white backed cards and threw them out... Blurg. Well, I'm interested in getting the Mail away figure (or atleast sending Hasbro a check for it :P cough cough... Indy... cough cough). So hopefully I'll be buying enough figs over the next couple months to get a couple. Otherwise I'm sure someone here will offer up UPCs for trade/cheap/free.
-
$6.99 sure is a nice price. I was expecting $24.99. I don't have any opened POPs, but I have 5 from a recent purchase and plan on getting a few more so I'm set. If anyone needs POPs, PM me in a couple of months and I'll help where I can.
-
I'm in with the crowd that just ditched their cardbacks. Just last week I was going through the closet last week getting rid of stuff and I threw out all of my Legacy cardbacks. I guess I have an excuse to pick up some more Legends Imperials. I wasn't planning on picking this up, but at only $7 I might even grab two. :)
-
Well, I'm interested in getting the Mail away figure (or atleast sending Hasbro a check for it :P cough cough... Indy... cough cough).
Don't forget that Hasbro ****** up on the GI Joe Doc mail away too. Some folks are still waiting for theres. $7 does seem weird for this promo, but I'm not complaning - as long as they send me the product without me knocking down their door.
-
Does anyone have the certificate for this mail-away? The Hasbro website says the file can't be found.... >:(
-
Yes, I was able to get it from Hasbro a week or so ago. Here is a link (http://tinyurl.com/mwantt).
-
I already mailed away for two!
-
I sent in two orderforms with the necessary check and Proofs of Purchase as well. I'm kinda excited to get these. The Eopie was the one item from EP1 I did not get that I wanted and I haven't done a mail-a-way since the ROTS empty box promo...before that I was about 12 years old!
-
I'm forgetting the rules, but is this available to Canucklefucks? :)
I have a friend wanting one. I wanted to let him know the details.
N/M, got the detials Jeff posted a few pages ago. Open to Canucks. Good!

The file works now, but will Hasbro accept the five proof of purchases with a printed-out certificate from the website? Or do you need an actual certificate packed-in with one of the upcoming figures? Just asking to play it safe; I don't want to mail in the 5 proof of purchases plus $6-7 and not get that awesome Eopie and Qui-Gon.

If you can download the form it is valid. They honored the printouts from the mailaway Rex and Lucas stormtrooper so I don't see this would be any different.
-
I sent my POPs and check in with a printed-out version of the certificate, and Hasbro cashed my check this past Monday. Granted, this doesn't mean I'll actually get the toy, but the check was cashed. One would assume this means the printouts are fine and dandy with them.
-
I need to get off the pot on this one right away because I've got about 5 already here to go. I've just been lazy about shipping them out.
-

My check was also cashed this week... I'm not expecting the Eopie to arrive anytime soon, but it's nice to know they got the check I guess.
-
I mailed away for 6 so far. I do not know why but I did and will most likely mail away for more.
It's like crack, I just had to I had so many UPC's laying around.
-
I haven't even bought a figure that has the form yet.
-
I ordered 3 so far and all of the checks were cashed in the last week, so hopefully that's a sign they're on the way soon!
-
Yes, I was able to get it from Hasbro a week or so ago. Here is a link (http://tinyurl.com/mwantt).
Hmmm, that link no longer works. Anybody have a new link, or downloaded that certificate and can send it to me?
-
Not to be cruel, but I would seriously laugh if you guys had to go through what many of us Joe collectors had to go through to get their Docs. The Star Wars team seems to have their act together, but Doc was Hasbro's last mail away that they totally ****** up on.
-
They dropped the ball on the Crystal Skeletons from the IJ line, too. But almost every Star Wars mailaway in recent memory seems to have been well managed.
-
Got my first mailed in, gotta get on the ball and get the rest out here. I plan to try for about 10, actually. I want to do some customizing with a couple and things. Good fodder with QGJ too. I'm excited to get these.
-
Hey y'all! My Mail-a-way Qui-Gonn Jinn and Eopies arrived in today's mail! They look great!
Keep checking your mail!
-
Mind snapping a Photo Matt?
-
I have an original Eopie and this one looks more yellow. I will take a shot of them together when my 6 arrive. This was a great mail away set. Hasbro has done a great job on all of the exclusives including Indy. I got Crystal Skeletons up to this past July. Hasbro has always come through in my experience.
-
Mind snapping a Photo Matt?
I will tomorrow and post here. I opened both of them and they look great! This is the only EPI item I never received, so I'm glad to finally get one now.
I can't be the first person to get this....so many of you sent in your POP's and order forms before me!
-
Someone at Scum got theirs and posted. I never got this item either Matt, so I'm happy to get several. Actually I plan on moving QGJ's legs over to that new Jedi that's too short from the Geonosis 2 packs.
-

It took Hasbro almost a full year after my checks cleared to deliver my Docs to me. I still feel burnt on that, but glad to hear these are shipping. Might actually go ahead and send in for a couple now and hope for the best.

Great pics Matt! - as I'm writing out my check and filling in the order form. :)
Forgive me for being ignorant, but what was the reasoning as to why the Eopie wasn't released in the states back in the day?
-
what was the reasoning as to why the Eopie wasn't released in the states back in the day?
Because every store was clogged with 1000 JarJar/Kaduu and QuiGon/Opee sets. The backlog killed the beast line before the Eopies got out. Hasbro dumped what little they had made overseas, where I guess the beast backlog wasn't as bad.
-
Thanks Matt. :)
And I got one of my sets today... I spaced my orders out so I keep getting crap at random because I'm immature like that, and enjoy getting stuff in the mail.
-
I sent all 3 of mine in at different times, but they all arrived together today.
-
I got mine today. ;D Super happy to finally have this piece in my collection. It was sort of a holy grail for a long time. Closest I ever came was C2. A dealer had one and was willing to trade my Jorg Sacul for it. I didn't want to trade one grail for another, so I didn't. I think it worked out in the long run. I find myself being very nostalgic for Episode 1. Not the best movie, by any means, but it was the first new Star Wars movie, the one we all waited for, and I have always loved the designs.
-
I got 5 of my 6 today. I will dig out my 1999 one and take a pick to compare the difference.
This is a great mail away!
-
NICE! :) Still gotta mail in the form ... and totally loving the dirt/sand on Qui-Gon's boots! Nice details, Hasbro! It's these kind of special figures that totally add a memorable piece to your collection... Really glad Hasbro thought of this.
-

Let me know what you find. I'm interested to know if there are any significant differences or if they're nearly exactly the same.
-
Mine arrived today too - excellent mail-away, best yet in fact.
-
My 2nd arrived today. I expect a series of these coming in the next couple weeks. Nice for $6.99 basically. I'm going to do some Tatooine background pack animals, and use some QGJ's for fodder. Good set for probably twice the price so I'm really pleased. This is one of the best things in the line this year, to me.
-
I'm thinking of using my second one to do a ort of dio with Obi-Wan delivering Luke to the Lars family. Not sure where I'd put it, or how tough it will be to get a second Obi-Wan iwth baby Luke figure.
-
Oh that's not a bad idea actually. Take a ROTS Obi, "dirty him up" a little with burns on his uniform as he's pretty tore up after Mustafar... Give him Baby Luke and the Eopie, put Owen/Beru outside the Lars Homestead dome if you have one...
Hell that's almost a reason to buy a 2nd if it were cheap enough.
-
Got mine today....great to add this beast to my collection!
I'd love to get a second eopie (and another homestead) for that ROTS scene. 8)
-

The Saga Legends Obi-Wan with theball-jointed hips should be perfect for that.
I don't have the Lars Homestead dome, but that does sound really cool. The AOTC wave Owen and Beru would be perfect for it.
-
The Legends Obi is good alone... It's lacking the "burnt" details on the deco is all, but that'd be the ieal base figure especially due to the riding the Eopie and all that.

It's funny ... early pictures of this fig WAAAAY back in 2007 showed him with burn details from Mustafar. I was really excited, but when NEW pics came out (sans the burns) I decided to pass on it. >:(
-
I don't think I ever saw those pictures. Any chance you can dig them up?
-
I can't find them right now - they were taken a few years ago :( ... I'll keep looking, and if I find them, I'll post them - but does anyone know how to post a link? :D I've tried a few times, but I haven't actually posted a link ever in these forums.
-
Let me know what you find. I'm interested to know if there are any significant differences or if they're nearly exactly the same.
I'm not JOT, but as I have a 2000 version and a 2009 version, I can tell you what the differences are (at least one the two I have):
-The 2009 version still carries the 1999 copyright date on the foot/hoof, and the overall color of the beast itself has a definite yellow tint to it.
-The toenails on the 2009 version are painted solid gray, as opposed to the 1999 version, which has some worn gray on the nails. The kneecaps on the 1999 version are also painted in a worn gray, with the 2009 version's kneecaps being unpainted (remaining in the same overall shade of yellow as the rest of the beast).
-Both have the "liver spots" along the side, although the 2009 version is a bit more pronounced and the pattern is slightly different.
-The 2009 version uses a more muted set of browns on the saddle and saddlebags when compared wih the 1999 version (the 1999 version looks more like a toy, if that makes any sense).
-The 2009 version looks a bit "dirtier" than the 1999 version, especially noticeable on the back of the head and neck.
-The eyes of the 2009 version are white with tiny black dots, whereas the 1999 version has pink eyes with tiny black dots.
-Qui-Gon, obviously, is the 2009 Evolutions version with what, to my untrained eye, appears to be either a new and/or repainted head or a modified neck to avoid the giraffe look of the Evolutions release. The 2009 Qui-Gon has some difficulty sitting correctly on the saddle due to his front skirt piece, but it can be made to work with some effort; the 1999 version is an action feature-laden sculpt that sits on the saddle perfectly (which makes sense, as the two were designed to be compatible from the start).
-The stance on the legs seems to be a bit wider on the 1999 version as well, although that might be due to age more than anything else. Both stand well and need no additional support, although you will likely need to fiddle with the legs the first time you stand it up for the proper alignment.
Overall, I have to say that I still prefer the 1999 version, although the 2009 version is nice, too. I'm still displaying the 1999 version on my TPM shelves, but I picked up another SL Obi-Wan to display with the 2009 version on my ROTS shelves, and it looks great. 6.99 for an extremely difficult to locate beast along with what is debatably the best Qui-Gon Jinn figure we've gotten is a hell of a deal, and I highly recommend picking it up, even if you already have the 1999 version.
On a side note, the Saga Legends/2008 30AC Mustafar Obi-Wan with the ball-jointed hips works well on the Eopie, although he has the same difficulty I mentioned with Qui-Gon regarding the front skirt piece. I'm still fiddling with it so he'll sit properly, but it will work with a little effort.
-
NIIICE. Can't wait to pick up this set in the mail.
-
I finally got the the check in the mail. I hear that phrase a lot as a bill collector for a credit card company, but in this case it's actually true. It actually is in the mail! I even have the check number 2336.. Now let's just hope it is not lost ;)
-
Finally mailed away for mine. It'll be interesting to see what the turn around time is since it's started shipping.
-
Same here... it was just last week with the E1 wave that I finally found enough proofs to send away for one.
-
Sent away for my first one late last week and my check got cashed on Tuesday. Keeping my fingers crossed...So far so good.
-
I have the stuff to mail off for at least 2 but no interest in PT stuff... Email me with your address for a Tuesday Fedex.... first 2 to send PM me.
-
My check for my second Eopie was cashed this week, too. I haven't even used my UPC's from the TPM or ROTJ waves yet, and I just got my ANH case... I could end up with an Eopie herd.
-
My check was cashed for mine which was mailed on the 15th of this month. Pretty quick.
-
Anyone (carded collectors I guess...) need extra proofs to send away for one? I've probably got enough for 3 or 4 and don't plan on sending away for an army of these.
PM me if you want some of them.
-
Wow, I still need to mail away my check and POPs.
-
I wasn't going to bother with this mail-away, but since QG is the Evolutions version, I just may send away for it after all. I've wanted that version of Qui-Gon for my PT jedi display.
-
How come Hasbro is making really long extentions for their Mail-aways now? ??? We have untill March for the Qui-Gon/Eopie, which is pretty darn long. I'm totally fine for the extention, since I still need to mail-away, but I don't remember Hasbro doing this before. Or am I wrong?
-

I'd blame that on Doc.

They probably have an overabundance of this set, thinking many U.S. collectors would want it, since it was never released here. Admittedly I need to send my stuff in so I'm glad for the extension.

That actually makes sense. ;D
-
If no one supports this you can count on there not being another mail away next year for the "Real" line. This will also give Hasbro reason to say "we told you so" on the Eopie. I have seen so many Q&A's asking for a rerelease of this item and it seems not many are biting. I see this trend across a few boards, I would not blame Hasbro for not pursuing another mail away if this flops horribly. I mailed away for a 7 of them and just mailed away for 9 more.
These sets are a great way to get a refund on Star Wars as I flipped 6 of them on eBay for $25 a pop already. That the plan for the next 9, I make an honest buck and support the line in two ways: the Eopie offer and use the money to fund my collection. I hope this will motivate some members to mail away for this item because I would love to see more offers like this. This is such a good deal for $6.99, everyone should mail away for one to ensure future offerings. Plus why wouldn't you want this in your collection?
-
Yeah, I guess these would make good sellers on the secondary markets.
-
I still need to mail in my pop's for Qui-Gon and the Eopie. I've got an Eopie from the Episode I line, but I think I could go for another 3 or 4. Especially considering it's relatively cheap.
-
Yeah, I ordered two. The checks were cashed about a week ago. How long do these usually take after the check is cashed?
-
They seem to cash the checks pretty quick. I'm still waiting on mine.
-
Got my Eopie today. ;D
-
Got my second yesterday. I put the Eopie on my ROTS shelf to go with Obi Wan and baby Luke.
-
Two more Eopies came either yesterday or today...they were by more door along with my most recent HTS order.
E...
-
None for me yet but I blame that somehow on Doc.
-
Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever going to mail away for these. I keep putting it off. :(
-
I received one of these in the mail on "Black Friday". I sent out for two on the same day, but they obviously didn't show up at the same time. Anyways, glad to get it - always a fan of mail-aways - and it seems like a pretty good deal even with the shipping costs.
-
the one I ordered arrived yesterday. I don't remember the exact date that I ordered it, but it doesn't seem like it took too long.
I have never had one of these before and I am quite happy with it for what it is. ;D
-
It seems that as time passes for these mail-aways, the faster they are shipped once you order. They are kinda slow once they are officially released, but once they've been out awhile, they arrive faster.
Just saying. Hehe.
-
I just mailed off my form, so we'll see how long it takes to arrive north of the 49th.
-
Mine arrived two days ago. Yeaaaa!!!!
-
For those of you that got yours, how long did it take from the checks being cashed to final delivery? My checks were cashed about a month ago.
-
Mailed mine October 15th. Check was cashed on October 31st. He arrived on December 3rd.
-
I still have not got mine. :-[
-
Finally mailed away for mine yesterday.
-
I got both of mine on the same day.
-
I'm getting ready to mail in more tomorrow...
Anyone who needs a form and 6 UPC's I can mail a set to you if you wanted. I've gotten about 6 Eopies so far, I think I have 2 outstanding yet, and 2 more set to go out. I may put in for more too, not sure.
-
My checks were cashed within less than a couple of weeks of having mailed them. I wonder how long it will be until they ship out.
-
My check was cashed today, and I just mailed away for it last week. Talk about fast! I wonder how long it will take for the Eopie to get here...
-
I got 6 more in the mail today so they are shipping again.
-
I mailed my check just over a month ago and they cashed my check last week, so it should be on it's way soon. Hopefully.
-
Yaaay! Mine arrived today. First mail-away promotion I've ever participated in. I hope these continue into the future.

Sent a check Monday and it was cashed Thursday.
-
Got a notice in the mail today that they ran out and are doing another production run of QGJ's and Eopies due to unanticipated demand I guess. They're not shipping till May 10th, 2010 then. You can call and cancel or you can just wait it out, which obviously isn't a problem to most I'm sure.
I ordered plenty of these I think... Nice piece for the price. Probably one of the better promos Hasbro's ever done IMO.
Wish I could order BAD Darktroopers like this. I'd go nutty sending in for those. Actually that might have even enticed me to buy more figures like Legends army builders specifically to redeem them.
-
I was just thinking about this yesterday. I mailed away for mine before New Years and haven't gotten it yet. Guess now I know why. I'm definitely waiting for mine, and might even throw in an order for a second.
I'm assuming Hasbro just doesn't make enough of the mail-away figures? There was a delay on the Indiana Jones Crystal Skeleton last year as well because they had to do another production run. I guess it's good for Hasbro since they won't have any leftovers hanging around for years.
-
As we speak, I'm filling out 2 more. I have enough stuff to fill out probably 10 more though at least.
-
Such a nice note from Hasbro today. ::) Especially since they cashed my checks as soon they got them.
As a result my Nahdar Vebb forms are going in this week.
-
As a result my Nahdar Vebb forms are going in this week.
As are mine...this was a real wake-up call. Yikes!
-
I still need to mail away for my figures. ::) I've had the completes POPs and certificate since December. Wow.
I already have all materials needed for Nahdarr Vebb, except the certificate. I'm really looking forward to that figure, but I can't decde if I want 1 or 2.
-
You know you can download the certificate.
-
Well, I haven't received a postcard yet, I never got one for the Crystal Skeletons either and it wasn't until I e-mailed in through the Hasbro customer service website did I receive a card.
But I did check the status on all of my money orders and they were all cashed, so I'm not concerned at this point. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with eight Eopies at the moment, but I'm sure I'll figure something out...
-
I am shocked they actually ran out. I thought this was going to be the turd of all mail aways. It seemed to me that no one cared. I am glad people did order it's a great promotion. I mailed away for 16 and got them all.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Hasbro saying that sales of the Legacy line were below expectations? Yet the response for the mail in item for the line was above expectations. Interesting.
-
I don't know that you can really gauge sales of Legacy by the selling out of a promo toy... 2009 was a down-year that they sort of knew was coming I think since 2008 was a down year and the trend didn't seem likely to shift. I'd guess perhaps they underestimated demand for the mail-in then more on the notion they turned production down on it expecting a slower year. Plus, a lot of people may have mailed in from the Clone Wars crowd, which they maybe weren't entirely expecting.
I think regardless though, it's a positive in the column of realistic stuff moving forward... I'm sort of surprised they didn't just can the promotion rather than doing a new run, but regardless it's cool how they're doing it.

Well - speaking as someone who has sent away for a total of eight and five of those eight payments were cashed two months ago and I still have yet to receive a single Eopie - I'm glad they're making more. I would be pretty upset if all eight of my payments were returned to me at this point.
It's also the reason I didn't procrastinate in getting my Vebb redemptions sent in!

Sorry JJ, I guess I had the wrong tone. I wasn't so much surprised about the overall sales number as Hasbro was taken off guard by a great mail away. I'm not a high volume buyer, but I still sent away for two sets. It was just too good to pass up. I'm not in the business, so I don't envy them having to forecast sales based on the economy, and then project the response to the mail away based on overall sales numbers. Too many variables. But it does indicate that the market is still there when a quality product is at a good price.
-
They probably did not anticipate people buying multiples of these like an army builder. I have heard a lot of comments like the ones above "I got 16" "I got 8", etc and from other sites. It turned out to be a really nice set. It was easy to get it to.
-
Plus it was in all 3 prequals, no? It's a popular item. I got one for Obi w/baby Luke for instance.
-
This offer was unavailable here in the UK. There was a rumor it was going turn up at retail in Toys R Us, but no sign of it yet. Maybe they're waiting until the offer expires first.
My question is, if you guys lived over here and had to pick one up at retail, would you do it?
-
I sent in for 2 today. I hope they made enough the second time around for procrastinators like me.

Depends on price and if you're into E1 enough... It's a good QGJ figure, and a decent beast, though probably not the most exciting animal in the saga.
As a mail-in it's a no-brainer, but as a toy at a store, it really depends what it costs I think. $6.99 here is basically what its price is though, so I ordered probably too many of them.
-

I have one of the original EP1 releases MIB so for me, the real appeal here is the ability to finally get this piece and have it opened.
I did a bit overboard on ordering them as a mail-away (I sent away for a total of eight) - but if I had to buy it in a store, like say as a TRU exclusive Deluxe Figure w/Vehicle like the recent Biker Scout w/Speederbike, I probably would have limited my purchases to three:
1 - to keep MIB
1 - to open and have with Qui-Gon Jinn
1 - to open and display an Obi-Wan w/Baby Luke
I'm really not sure what I'm going to do with the other five I ordered. My step-son has recently "given me back" a lot of his Star Wars stuff - he's going through that phase where there are much cooler things out there than SW toys so I've recently acquired things like an extra Anakin's Pod Racer, when they arrived for the race, R2 was pulling the cockpit and an Eopie was pulling the engines and I'm pretty sure Anakin and Padme road on one and Shmi and Kister road on the other one, so I might break apart this extra pod racer and make that scenario as a display too.
You also never know when one of these mail-aways might come in handy for a trade too.
So I guess the long-winded answer to your question is: yes I would still buy it, but not in the same numbers as what I did for the mail-away.
-
If this set had been offered for sale at retail I would have bought one to open and that would have been it. As it is, a mail-away, I ordered one right off the bat and opened it. Since then I've ordered at least 5 more, I think.
I'm actually not positive on that number. I ordered 2 more that I received, I ordered 2 today (Wed) and I got a post card telling me an order I put in wasn't shipping till May. And honestly, I have no idea how many I ordered that time. I'd have to dig out the check register it's been so long.
I have ordered 3 Nahdar Vebb figures also, but I probably would have only bought one of him at retail, two tops if I decided to keep one carded. Again, since it's a mail-away, it's just fun and not overly expensive to just order a few. :P

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess the eopie is the draw for me here and would be the reason for picking this one up. I already have the evolutions Qui Gon and the poncho on this version doesn't resemble the one he wore in the film too much. Call me crazy, but the closer they match the colors to what we see in the films, the better I like it. On the flip side, from what I've seen, the skin tone looks a little healthier on this guy.
-
May 13th is approaching - the day most people (including me!) will be getting the newest batch of Qui-Gon and Eopie!! ;D
-
Had a chance to check my account this morning and saw my check cleared on 5/11 for my 2 Eopie w/Qui-Gon. Hopefully, we'll be seeing them soon.
-
Still waiting....
-
Okay. Who had the eopies and Qui Gons sent to my house?
I didn't even send away for any of these.
Show yourself!!
-
I got another delay reminder... 7/10 I believe was the date. It arrived today.
-

Really? Can you post what it says, please? I mailed away for my figures the Sunday before the deadine (Wednesday), and I haven't received any notices whatsoever. NOT GOOD. :(
-
It's just like the last delay card but bumps the date to July 15th 2010 for shipping if you've had outstanding orders. I sent in a little later for some, so this may apply to those.
-
I received the same card today as Jesse describes above. I sent my form mid/late-February.
-
Wow, at this rate, Hasbro needs to include some grand-scale apology card (;)) with the Eopies when they arrive in...*sigh*... July. :(
-
So how much longer til I get my Nahdar Vebb delayed shipping card? ::)
Those a-holes cashed my check SIX WEEKS AGO, and I've gotten jack shiite.
Hasbro's fulfillment house just plain sucks.
-
Well to be fair, when was the last time we had such great mail-ins, and 2 in a year, and in the basic line to boot? And more to come with the Vintage stuff too...
Seriously I'm not complaining at all... They'll arrive when they arrive, and to be frank, I'm just grateful we were offered such nice mail-aways this past couple years.
I got 2 Eopies in the mail today, so I'm assuming my card was applicable to the Eopies I mailed in for later getting nearer to the deadline. I'm guessing the card I got is simply an extension of the last card I got, saying basically, "Tons of people wanted these, we had to make more to satisfy demand, and so we're going to be a little beyond the estimated date of delivery to get you yours which you sent in for before the deadline".
Hasbro obviously could've just said, "Supplies didn't last, sorry, so we're not sending you what you wanted at the last minute", but instead they're making more... To me, that's pretty above and beyond on their part.
I haven't gotten my Vebb's either, but I'm sure I'll get them eventually... I'm sure that one's probably going to do as well or better than the Eopie. It's a whole new figure.
-
I checked the mailbox last night, and lo and behold I got my 5 Eopies with Qui-Gon Jinns. Now I have to figure out...what do I do with 5 of these? In the grand scheme of things they were pretty cheap. But I'll only NEED perhaps 3 for my own collection.
-
Recieved my two Eopies today. And here I was expecting another delay postcard. :)
-
Yes, as noted I sent in for another round nearer to the deadline (maybe 2 weeks prior?), and so that seems to be the scenario... People who were late getting orders in are getting cards to notify they'll get their figures after the estimated ship dates.
Since I've staggered my orders out, I've gotten to experience both post cards and getting Eopies (today) while still getting a card about some outstanding ones and things... Good thing I've kept track of the ones I've sent out for. :-X
-
I'm still waiting on the Eopies I got the post card for. I also sent off for another one or two just days before the final deadline. I'm expecting a post card about them. I think I saw that a check had cleared on my account but without double checking the number, that could have been for one of the Vebb figures I sent for.

Two more arrived today... I had forgotten just how "staggered" I staggered them. :-[

Are you army building Eopies? ;)
-
I'm not quite sure what I'm doing... But a beast and a good figure for $7 is a pretty great deal so I figured if I'm going to, I may as well go big.
I want to maybe make some pack-animal customs with the Eopies, and have extras around for stuff. I've got more than I figured I should have, but hey, it's a deal. THe line hasn't had a mail-away this nice in eons, if ever.
-
I had a Qui-Gon an Eopie set arrive today. I really should check to see how many more I have coming. I think just one, though.

Received a postcard stating the July 15th date! Although it's pretty damn far, I'm excited because I only ordered one of these - SOO looking forward to it!
-
Well - I finally got a post card yesterday.
I'm confused as to why the ones I sent away for between Thanksgiving and Xmas aren't being fulfilled with the batch being shipped in May. Maybe they have bunched all of my remaining ones together for a bulk shipment like they did with my Crystal Skeletons.
Oh well...
-
I'm pretty pissed, because I sent off my form a week before the deadline - March, I think?
Got a postcard saying that it'll be delayed and shipped starting July 15th. WHOAH! Ok, whatever.
Reports come in that more postcards are coming informing people that they WON'T be receiving their set, because supplies are exhausted. :o
JTA informs readers that if you call the customer service number, they'll tell you whether your order has been secured or not. So I call, and a surprisingly nice woman answers and tells me my order will come with the replenished sets and shipped in July.
July 15th comes around. Still no Qui-Gon and Eopie. I mailed for this in March. Part of me is wishing that I didn't order in the first place.
As mad as I am, I know I can't really blame Hasbro, because they were nice enough to put in another order for a fresh batch of Qui-Gon/Eopie sets.
-
Oh yeah - I totally I forgotten about these - I wonder if I'm getting the ones they said were shipping on July 15th or not...
I got screwed on one of my Vebbs - I had an old money order lying around for $6.99 and I sent it in hoping that it would still be cashed, but apparently, USPS money orders expire, which is ridiculous if you ask me, but you learn something new every day I suppose.
-
Oh yeah - I totally I forgotten about these - I wonder if I'm getting the ones they said were shipping on July 15th or not...
Well, if you haven't yet gotten a postcard saying you won't be getiing your Eopie, then you're fine... I think. The same is true for me, but I still haven't gotten mine. :-\
-
Yeah - I'm not overly concerned - I already have five of them so I think I only have three more coming.
I was planning on cannibalizing my son's Anakin pod racer to recreate the Eopie's bringing the engines to the Boonta's Eve Pod Race.... so if I never get them, it's not the end of the world. They did cash my money orders so I would try to get them to transfer those requests over to the Bric w/Game Mat mailaway if they're not gonna send me Eopies....
-
I ordered 2, check cashed for $13.98 on 5/11, never got a delay notification post card, and finally got 1 today in a beat-up, crushed, outer box. Yes!
-
I got my (I'm guessing, again) final 2 yesterday. :) I have a small army of these, haha. I'm probably at 20 now.
-
Got my pair of Eopies today!
-
Got my pair of Eopies today!
Welcome to 2009!
-
I got my Eopie today too! ;D This was the only one I ordered, so I'm glad I got it. It's about time. Eopies must be very slow travelers.
-
I also only ordered one, and I did it pretty close to the deadline. I never got any of these postcards people were talking about, so I was getting worried, but my Eopie arrived today. I'm very pleased - money's been a problem lately and I haven't been buying Star Wars stuff, so getting something in the mail that I already paid for a long time ago is quite a treat. It's an extra bonus that I never got the Evolutions Qui-Gon, and this one is an improvement over the original.
-
While my army is not as impressive as Jesse's I got my final three of these today, that brings my count up to nine of them.
Talk about going from one extreme to another. For almost ten years, I've always considered myself "lucky" to have a MIB US-packaging version (i.e. not tri-lingual) EP1 version of this beast. Occasionally I had flirted with the idea of picking up one off of eBay, but never could justify paying $40+ for something I wanted to open.
Too bad they felt the need to make this year's mail-away the Rocket-Firing Boba Fett - it would have been great if they sculpted a new Taun-taun and made that the mail-away offer.
-
Got my pair of Eopies today!
Welcome to 2009!
Pssh, I never bought anything like this during EP1, so more like 'welcome to 1999'. :)
My 4 yr old wanted to play with the "horsey". Close enough.
-
still don't have my yet. ???
-
My 4 yr old wanted to play with the "horsey". Close enough.
Sure, blame it on your toddler. Real classy.
-
Funny, my 2 and half year old called it a horsey too when we took it out of the packaging, but for some reason he doesn't like the toy. He makes it a point to stay away from it.
I did get my 2nd set in the mail yesterday. The box was in much nicer condition than the first. I wonder why there was a 3 day difference in delivery time between the 2 sets. I would think Hasbro would send both of my sets out together, but that probably didn't happen.
-

I'm an adult who buys Star Wars toys; for himself. I'm all class!
