Title: Valor vs Venom
Post by: Brian on August 25, 2003, 01:23 PM
Although I don't currently collect this line, I do look what they have out from time to time (since it was one of my favorites lines as a kid other than SW and MOTU)...and I did pick up the black Snake-Eyes/Cobra Commander 2 pack last year.  I know there are some collectors on this board who are interested in Joes, past or present, so I thought we could start a thread here to discuss them if anyone wanted to.  Plus, I just watched the "music video" for the new G.I. Joe - Spy Troops movie that is coming to Cartoon Network, and I'd have to say it looks kind of cool...keeping some of the general looks of the old characters, similar to MOTU, but with a few more changes I guess.  Anyways, here's the link, if anyone would like to see it:

I don't collect the new stuff, but I do have a ****load of the vintage stuff in my Grandmom's attic.  Once I get a house, I'm thinking about pulling it all down, cleaning it up and displaying it.  Granted a few pieces and weapons are probably going to missing and / or broken, but I'm sure I can track them down easily enough.  GIJoe was actually my favorite toy line growing up, even more so than Star Wars.

Same here for me as Mikey.

I loved Joe more than Star Wars...  I used to take my allownce, buy a JOe, then use the rest to buy clearance Star Wars figures for their stuff.  Han Endor's jacket and gun immediately went to my favorite Joe...  Same with Indiana Jones figures and weapons.

Cobra Commander locked Kick-@$$ with one of the hooded cobras from the Well of Souls Playset.  The Monkey rocked as an accessory for my favorite Joe too.

My favorite Joe at first was Airborne, weird choice I know, but eventually it was a mix of the Tan tank's driver (I cannot believe I've forgotten that tank's name), his body specifically, with a head from a guy I felt looked like me...  :)  It was a "Me" as G.I. Joe even before they had the idea for a mail-away for a "You as Joe" promotional figure.

And of course, my favorite Joe rode motorcycles...  Fisherprice ones I believe, from their dirtbike/motocross set.

G.I. Joe was the best though, and looking back I'd have to say my favorite piece were the two hang-gliders.  There was a Joe and Cobra one, they were foam.  Those things flew really high and would stay in the air for very long periods of time.  An open field and they would just go forever.

I had the Cobra, and my brother Cole had the Joe, and we both lost them to our dog Pepper who chewed them up.  They were a blast for the 2 weeks we had them though.

Man, I loved GI Joe. I liked that they were cheaper than MOTU and Transformers, so I could afford them with my measly allowance. My personal favorite figures are the first versions of Wet Suit and Serpentor, both from 1986. That's the year I got heavy into Joe.

I bought the RAHC and the first five waves of the new line, but repaints and terrible shoulder joints on the new figs made me decide to discontinue collecting it. Although I still pick up the ones I find cool, like the Sand Viper and the upcoming Lady Jaye and Pimp Destro.

G.I. Joe makes Hasbro buttloads of $, it's amazing...

The new figures are kinda bogus compared to old, but the concepts of some of the kick so much @$$ it's depressing when one comes out and you're disappointed.

Did any of you guys see that Snyper figure?  Dood has a cloth camo thing made from a football jersey fabric.  It's simply genius, and this guy easily would've been one of my favs, not to mention he has a removeable belt, removeable boonie hat, and removeable web gear!?!?  WTF?  Where's all this with a Star Wras figure???  :)

The rifle he has rocks too.  This long-range sniper rifle, it's really neat.

If he had better shoulder joints, and the hands were sculpted more like the original ARAH figures were, he'd be one hell of a great toy.

I pick a Joe pack up now and then for custom pieces for Star Wars.  I nabbed the Cobra surgeon and thought the concept alone was amazing.  I'd have dug a mad doctor for Cobra. :)

To be a Joe collector today would be fun, but the product just isn't what it was when I was younger.  I miss the very original figures...  I remember the first I got at the (Back then) brand new K-Mart up here, as well as the later new figures I found at the 5 and 10 in the next town up.  This was before a trip to the mall was simple, and you got there maybe twice a year...

The feeling I had when I first found Flint at the Local Gold Circle, or the feeling I had when I found ALL of the first Gung-Ho/Airborne wave at the 5 and 10 have yet to be compaired to.  And seeing the original straight arms for the first time was like love at first sight.  I was hooked, and owned almost everything ever put out then for them...  Except the Sears exclusive Cobra items, and the Flagg which wouldn't fit in our rooms.  We had all the rest (My brothers and I) and loved them.

You know, GIJoe was the first toy line that I had trouble tracking down a figure - much like Star Wars today.  I never found Snake Eyes and Timber and it scarred me for life.  My friends had one and I didn't.  And I was jealous.  Now that I have money, I might track one down on ebay.  Maybe someday, SE will be mine.

I had almost every Joes from 82-86, They were by far my biggest interest after SW. The Joes just offered the coolest things and they play factor was better for me. I still try to track down some items for my collection but mainly just have all my childhood items. Strange most of my original SW items are no where to be found but all teh Joes were loyal and stayed home  ;)

Plus the cartoons for Joe were the best ones on at that time. they still blow away alot of todays stuff.

And Jesse I to remember the days of having my parents take me to the store only a few times a year.  I always thought I knew what I wanted till we saw all the differnt stuff then it was an agonizing decision to make as to which one got to come home.

I don't know if any of you have seen this, but Wal-Mart has loads of Value Packs with waves 5, 6, and 7 in them. I ended up getting all of waves 6 and 7, except that funny Gun Station with Big Brawler. I recommend buying the Wide Scope/ BAT 3.2 pack. The SWAT dude is awesome. There's also Value packs of some vehicles with wave 2 of the Mision Discs, and the MDs can be bought on their own for $4.

I also found wave 8 at Target. I ddin't find Zarana, but I did get Cobra Commander, who's all sorts of cool now that he's got the faceplated helmet again. Heavy Water, the new Cobra waterman, makes me wish Hasbro came up with an Eels redux.

I think I've spent about $45 on Joe stuff this week alone. :o But it's fun.

Gawd, talk about hitting me in the head.  I started reading this thread, saw vintage GI Joe and thought hey, I can relate.  Then I saw Cobra and realized oops, not quite as vintage as I might have been thinking.  I believe I got my first Joe around 1969 :o

Sorry, had to share as it made me laugh.

Two Siegies for 24 Battle Points and three bones? Sold American.

I noticed these have metal rivets in the arms, which translates into "superior product". :) ;)

RAH- No comparison, no compromise.

Morgbug- guess we should refer to it and RAH instead of vintage, huh? I didn't know there was a 12" line until Hasbro started doing them again in 1991. Of course, I was only ten years old then. :)

I wish I could afford it. Hell, I wish I had room for it. Someday, maybe. But I'm not sure that box is going to fit in my Hyundai.
At least it's great to see Hasbro taking a chance with hugh-jass playsets, and giving us all hope that someday the Flagg and Terrordrome will be rereleased.

I'll tell ya, I buy a lot of these just for customs...  not expensive, but a little pricey, but WORTH it.

G.I. Joe figures just amaze me sometimes though.  The new Destro with his removable belt/holsters, and a great outfit...  I can't get over REcondo having 16 points of articulation either.

I don't like the sculpts, and that's the ONLY thing that keeps me from collecting this line all out...  If they made realistic looking characters (Sculpted them to have true-to-life proportions and such) I'd probably be die-hard for the modern Joe RAH line.

It's just impressive stuff out there otherwise though.  TONS of gear, tons of quality everywhere BUT the sculpt, and they're even increasing articulation on them.  Make Recondo's a standard and improve those sculpts and I'd be sold I do believe.

And I still nab one here and there just because I have to have it...  newest Cobra Commander for instance.  GREAT looking figure. :)

I've been collecting Joes for a long time and will not buy anything newer than 1989.  I think it's mostly gone down hill from there.  Of course there are exceptions to that 1989 rule, but not many.

If  you are interested in starting a Joe collection or maybe picking up a few from your childhood(teenagehood for some of you  ;D), I have a large amount of figs(both complete and incomplete) for trade in the trade section.  I have many Vintage Star Wars needs...and a few others too.

Do any of you guys collect, and more importantly do customizing, with Joes?

I was looking for sites that do casts of G.I. Joe parts for customizers.  I saw one from J&R or J&P Customs or something like that...  I have that one bookmarked.  But, there's another site out there that I KNOW exists that I can't find anything out about.

They have a lot more headcasts including sets for Cobra Troopers with removable helmets and stuff.  I recall seeing Wild Weasel's helmet too.  I was wanting to just make a couple customs for myself and my brother and needed this other site's items.

I definately have the one site, just not the other.

Any help guys?

I believe the 2 companies I've been thinking of are one in the same and there's really only a single company making Joe parts casts.

At least that's someone though. :)  Good stuff too.  They did have a Wild Weasel helmet hollowed out, I just missed it.  Cast in a lovely resin too BTW.

Have to do some ordering from them sometime when I get some scratch...

Yeah was looking at those today.  Amazing stuff, I have been tempted many times to get back into Vintage Joes.  The new line is alright but I don't like the whacked out paint jobs and lack of O-Rings :-\
Title: Re: G.I. Joe Toys Thread
Post by: Jesse James on July 3, 2004, 01:12 AM
Most have O-Rings though...  I think the only one I've seen lately that doesn't was the Stormshadow with action feature, but he's being redone O-Ring style and put on a motorcycle in that one shot.

Lot of new figures appear to be reappearing this year in new, accurate paintjobs too.  I see Scarlet in a tiger-stripe camo like a Spec. Forces soldier would wear...  The new Sniper, who was good in the first place, is also getting a redo.  I see a couple redecos in urban/night camo...

The Wild Weasel I'm slightly disappointed in, as I've wanted a new, cool WW, but the figure looks "skinny".  He'd be cool if he had legs like his original figure though...  The bulky red flightsuit rocked, with the maps and crap.

When I was little, there was a contest on in the afternoon when Joe & Transformers aired on Fox around 3 or so.

The contest was that they flashed a secret word (something simple/to do with the toons) and when yous aw the word you had to call in and if you did you won the Joe or Transfrmers lineup for the year.

I won that contest here...  It was great.  The secret word was Optimus Prime...  I immediately took the Joe package, of course, and got a Ratler, SHARC, tons of figures (some I already had, but I didn't care since I was already customizing by part swapping).  It was simply great...

One of the best days of my life I remember.  :)  The Rattler rocked too.  I had so much fun having it fly around my yard dogfighting a B-Wing I got on clearance at Gold Circle (which is long gone from my area now, but was a cool ass store).

Cool stuff...  *sigh*

I'm gonna be hooked on picking some of this up...  It's inevitable.

I'm a little late to reply here I guess, but just saw some of the convention pictures today.  Those comic book packs look pretty cool to me, and 3 figures (and a comic) for $10?  Not too bad.  I've stayed away from Joe for the most part (a couple of Snake Eyes), but was quite into it when I was a kid.  These comic packs kind of bring back those memories some...gonna be awfully tempting.  Has anyone picked any of them up yet?  I understand the first few are released, but forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm not entirely up on the Joe world anymore.

Nostalgia really kicks in with Joe as well.  I've run across the old cartoon a couple of times on Boomerang (on Sundays I think), and I've often thought about picking up the DVD Season sets (anyone have them?).  Next to Star Wars and comics, Joe was the big toy line for me when I was a kid.  In fact, I think (like many kids), they invaded each other worlds quite a bit back then :P.

Has anyone here picked up the comic book sets?  I haven't seen them in stores (not sure where they are even showing up, I thought I had heard Target?).  I haven't ever really got into the modern Joes (with the exception of a couple of Snake Eyes figures), but I thought I heard these comic packs are more like the RAH line from the good ole days.  Maybe I mis-read though.  I suppose if I was going to collect Joes, I'd just as well go back to the vintage ones (82-86 especially).  Those were the best  :P

Saw the Snake Eyes, Scarlet, and Eskimo set, as well as the Cobra Command set at K-mart here Mosnab.

Very cool really...  Re-used bodies it seemed, liek the Eskimo has Big Ben's body I think, but a new head and collar/necklace stuff I think.

Scarlet's body may be Jinx, not sure there.  Snake Eyes is a repaint.

The Cobras have new heads too, except perhaps the soldier.  They're cool too but the Barroness' head is weird because her glasses are separate like her hair (part of her hair sculpt actually) and they're really odd.

They magnify her eyes like coke-bottle glasses.  Looks like the pair my Uncle Carl wore.  :)

Hmmm, I partly like the idea...  Espeiclaly after seeing Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, and Firefly, but part of me longs for Hasbro to simply improve the 3.75" line to the point where there's realistic sculpt proportions, increased articulation (wrists, boot tops, and maybe a mid-thigh swivel would be a huge start), and increase the use of features like working holsters and sheaths on the characters.

I'd like the line to stay 3.75" I guess since that's become it's hot scale I think.  12" is so-so...  Especially with their competition.

If the Marvel Legends style ones were less "outrageous" in their sculpt though, and more realistic, I'd maybe change my mind on those then actually.  Seeing as how vehicles are not Joe's focus anymore, maybe it'd be a good idea?

Since you brought this up, I figured I'd make mention on something I read at GH.com forums the other day.

J&R Productions, which is a company that's been casting and reproducing heads, gear, and such for G.I. Joe in 3.75" scale have been SHUT DOWN by Hasbro legal teams.

The owner's trying to work something out currently with Hasbro.

It's a shame because the owner is just trying to give those who enjoy a certain aspect of the hobby (customizers) an outlet that they don't get from Hasbro...  MisterPL makes strong arguments for why it's right of Hasbro to enforce their trademarks, and nobody can argue it's their property to do with as they see fit, but I think in the end it will only serve to hurt them (however minor) as a profitable business, and in the eyes of the consumers who support their product wholeheartedly.

In this day and age of fighting for every sale in the aisles and on the net, I think Hasbro should weigh carefully their decision to let J&R productions continue.  They may just be "cutting off their trademarked nose to spite their face", as it were.

In the end I think they'll deem the situation not worth bothering with to any great extent, and they'll simply tell J&R "no" to everything and one more source to help customizers will go the way of the do-do, unless he does things on the QT.

Just picked up the GI Joe DVD's, Season 1 Parts 1 & 2! Should be fun to watch the old toons and realize that when we were kids we pretended we didnt see how crappy the storylines/animations/etc really were.  :P

I do miss the old cartoons, and I miss the old toy style, as well. To me, the new figures pure suck. I think they look crappy - but that's just me.

I haven't seen a standard Cobra Trooper figure since about '86 or so.

I saw some of those comic 3-packs, and I was tempted to pick up the Cobra one, but the Baroness figure made me put it down. What a piece of crap that is. Plus Cobra Commander looked cross-eyed.

I'm sure once the packs with Stalker, Clutch, and the rest come out, I'll go back and track this one down. I don't know about buying the pack with Kwinn, though. I'm not that hardcore of a Joe fan.

Gotta admit that Snake Eyes in SNow gear's kinda cool though in that pack with the Eskimo!  :)  The Timber blows though.  Where's the mold for the original, ya know?  Using Order as the mold for Timber is terrible looking.

You sir missed the Cobra Forces 6-pack.

2 Non-Coms and 4 enlisted grunts, all with unique hair (eyebrow) colors and one is a black dude.  Very cool.  ALl using the oold molds though the heads look different I think.

Anyway, a cool set.  Something Star Wars desperately needs at the same price with Stormtroopers and other figures as "ultimate" versions of them arise.

Wow, those Joe customs pictured at TNI (thanks for the link HMI) are really amazing.  Although I kind of prefer the smaller scale too (lack of space, nostalgia), these are really well done, and I would have a tough time passing up at least a couple of them if they were at retail.  I was pretty into Joe when I was a kid, and wouldn't mind having a few of today's figures, but the modern ones just don't do much for me.  I prefer the vintage-style figure makeup I think.  I guess those comic packs are supposed to be like that though, right?
Title: Re: G.I. Joe Toys Thread
Post by: Jesse James on August 31, 2004, 05:26 PM
There's some that really impress though in the modern line.

For instance, the new Firefly sculpt ROCKS, and even has a working holster on his chest for a pistol.  If they'd paint him ala the vintage Firefly, THAT would be a kick ass figure.

The new Alpine is sorta neat too, but again deco kills it.

One that rocks though, and has a good deco and redeco coming, is the "Cross Hair" figure.  WOW that's a cool guy.  The kinda figure that, as a kid, would've been my favorite Joe I used to pretend "I" am a G.I. Joe too...

Their new Recondo's cool too, and even has extra articulation, but I was saddened they didn't try gooing with a retro looko at all (no tiger stripe camo, no boonie hat with side pinned up, no mustache).

The "Disco" Destro rocks too.  I saw people dump on that figure but Destro in kinda clubby clothes is a neat concept, and the sculpt's great.  I got mine with a riot gun and his double holsters with big ass .44 magnums is awesome looking.  THAT is a modern day Destro.

The last Cobra Commander sculpt's good too, and in the proper blue/red deco he's really a nice update to the timeless leader.

You sir missed the Cobra Forces 6-pack.

Damn! I looked those up and that was a sweet package. Why the hell hadn't I seen those before?  ??? I would have grabbed 2 of those 6 packs if I'd seen them.

Probably missed 'em because everyone and his brother bought EVERY set they saw at retail.

I got one, and even as a  non-Joe collector I had to have it and wish I had more.  It's one of them sets that having 5 (for 30 troops) would've easily been justified.

Their packs and rifles blow, but I'd have just cast them some AK-47's and an RPG or something, and had a dandy little terrorist group.

If BBI and 21st aren't going to release "enemies" en masse then they'd have fought Cobra on a daily basis on their shelf in my room. :)

Anybody buying the comic three packs?  4 and 5 are the best so far IMO.  I'm really looking forward to the Oktober Guard.  The Issue 8 pack looks good, but I'd rather have Flash in his uniform than the space suit version.  We also need Grand Slam and Grunt in their uniforms.
I was able to score an Operation Crimson Sabotage set tonight at the Mall of America KB store.   I had a hunch they'd have them in for Black Friday, and I was right.

I snagged a couple extra of these yesterday at KB to help other collector's out, but they got lucky today too.  Let me know if you are still looking.

Man, if you lived near this guy and wanted a Crimson Sabotage set, good luck:

It's that same goofy bastard with all the Clones in the CW area. (http://adctalk.com/index.php?showtopic=1978817)

KB Toys now has the OCS set in stock.

Good luck. You're gonna need it. (http://www.kbtoys.com/genProduct.html/PID/2716459/ctid/17/INstock/Y/D/?_e=41c14&_v=41C14775StQYa344A5A536C1)

The last time this thing was online, lots of orders got cancelled.

As with many other Hasbro decisions, I'll always scratch my head as to why this and the Cobra 6-pack ever STOPPED shipping.

Those things should just be pumped out till people run out of money...  I'm not a Joe collector but that line just kills left and right a lot of the time.  It's impressive.

And now they are SOLD OUT again.

I got mine at the store, I even got a couple extras to share with fellow collectors.

I have to agree with Jesse (how many times have I posted that in various forums?) these things should be in stores till we are tripping over them at home.  I'd still buy Cobra 6 packs if they were available and I already have 4.

Some of the stuff rumored for next year looks good...

Comic 3 packs look good to me, but the Destro in the group is my least favorite sculpt.

The Crimson Guard with Crimson Twin 6 packs sound good. as does the Green Shirt 6 pack.

The new sculpt stuff is beyond off my radar.  The fact that their arms go to their knees and their waists go as high as their armpits...

I haven't bought a Joe figure in quite some time, but always thought the newer "comic packs" looked kind of neato.  Seeing these images over at SmallJoes.com (http://www.smalljoes.com/preview.shtml), I might be somewhat tempted by these.  These just remind me of the good ole days as a kid, some of my favorite figures.

More at the linky, including Serpentor, Duke, Destro, Firefly, Roadblock, etc.

More Joe stuff...just happened to look at the pics posted via the ToyNewsI.com front page, with images of "Valor vs. Venom" Wave 7.  I need to stay away from the Joes, but I know I'll definitely be picking up this figure (pack) if/when I see it.  This really reminds me of my favorite 1985 Snake-Eyes figure...still have that figure to this day, but he shows his mileage :).

Can't wait for that figure.  Some other nice ones HERE (http://www.toynewsi.com/index.php?catid=9&itemid=5405).  Some remind me of the good ole days of Joe (like the comic packs too).  After Star Wars, it was all about Joes with me (cartoon and toys)...well, that and a little bit of He-Man.  Anyways, looks like some nice stuff coming up for Joe collectors....if there are any in here.  I know I'll be looking for that Snake Eyes (along with everyone else probably) :).

Indeed...  If I had the $ I'd be more into G.I. Joe for sure.  I'd have been all over army builder cobra sets, these comic packs and definitely be customizing what I could.

Joe's a great line, and as far as I'm concerned it will ALWAYS own Star Wars as a toy brand.  It's still one of Hasbro's most overall popular lines to this day.  That speaks volumes about how they are able to adapt it.

I wish the VvV and other modern lines catered more to making figures ala the old days, but unfortunately they're way buffed out many times.  Whatever works for them I guess.

Still there's some incredibly well done toys in this line.

The Crimson strike set's in-freakin'-credible, as was the Cobra 6-pack, the ninja set, and other upcoming items.

I wonder how articulated that Snake Eyes will be ultimately?

GI Joe is actually getting better.

With the money I save from not finding ML, I can get into this line. Yay!

Those upcoming comic packs are all too good to pass up. Can't wait for the Serpentor one. Looks like he has a removable helmet.

I'd like to see them get to my next favorite Joes, Wet Suit and Beach Head. I think a new Flint and Hit and Run are good candidates too, not to mention Lady Jaye and Tomax and Xamot.

I so wish I had the money (and space) for Joes.  I always look at them.  If it weren't for the hideous joints on some of the girls I probably would.  It seems like they fixed them a little on Bombshell, though.

I'd love to see first appearances of all of these guys....but I would really like to see Wet Suit and Torpedo in their infiltration gear from that Special Missions issue about Cobra Island.

Here's a question that probably needs to be in the Star Wars area but, what about comic 3 packs from the old Marvel Star Wars comics...

The comic packs are what sucked me back into Joe.  I've since gotten my old Joe Collection out of storage and have updated it with everything since 1997 that I could find or what interested.  I like the new plastic because THUMBS now don't break , but sometimesit seems the colors are off because of it.

Some of that TRU-exclusive stuff from 1997-98 is pretty pricey. I've been trying to locate the Trubble Bubble and Viper set from back then and not only is it hard to find them, they're about $30 when they do show up.

I'm kind of wishing Hasbro would go balls-out and rerelease most of the RAH figure and vehicle molds they have left. Just a little subset line ala the comic packs.
I'm getting tired of hunting on ebay for other people's used toys, myself. I realize they'd never do the Flagg, Terror Drome, or Defiant, but stuff like HISS Is, FANG Is, and Trubble Bubbles (see a pattern?) would probably sell.

I kind of wish I'd have picked up that MCC when it was here. I remember a friend of mine had that back in the day. It wasn't anything really cool like the Defiant, but it was still damn big. And that's pretty cool when you're nine years old. ;D

Holy ****. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2467&item=5950080866&rd=1)

I wonder if the credit union would extend my car loan to $21,000.

It has to be overpriced by at least $10,000, even if it is all graded.

I'd have to hire somebody just to help me open all of those....and if I spent that kind of scratch on them, I wouldn't be able to get the best of help.

It is not actually a "Complete" collection though.  It doesn't seem to have all the original series 1 guys WITH swivel arm, just Scarlet, Grunt and the Cobras...so I'll have to pass......darn shame too.

I don't know anything about afa grading, but I assume they don't do it for free.....

That AFA grading tends to send auction prices into the stratosphere.

Who here remembers that auction with the seven-times-repacked OTC Han Solo? It went for $800, give or take.

It would be nice to get this collection, but I wouldn't touch anything that's been through AFA's hands, because I can't afford it.

I'd like to have this collection, because I really don't care about the 82 Joes all that much. I more prefer guys like Beach Head, Wet Suit, Alpine, and Low Light-- guys that had really cool costumes rather than army fatigues. Of course, I got into Joe in 1985-86, and it was pretty supernatural then, what with Cobra-La and Serpentor.

I have no use for carded figures from any era (Vintage/Modern etc) so AFA is more of an annoyance.   I would assume that even if they graded one LOW it would still cost more than if it weren't.

I am wondering about the new 6 packs announced/rumored so far this year...

Crimson Guard with Tomax
Crimson Guard with Xamot
Green Shirts 6 pack
Gi Joe Winter Uniforms
and the most odd of all Imperial Pro 6 pack....

Anybody got any ideas or scoop?

Hopefully they will all be based on the RAH sculpts. but that is just me.

I picked up my Oktober Guard 3 packs and couldn't be more pleased. (well I am a collector so I could ALWAYS be more pleased) I really like the way they came out.

I have yet to pick up set #7. I saw the other two, #6 and 8, so I got those.

Dig this- Storm Shadow unmasked mail-in (http://www.hasbro.com/gijoe/pl/page.stormshadow/dn/default.cfm)

The drawing would indicate it's a VvV style figure, though I'm secretly hoping it'll be an RAH-style figure, since they're rolling out the 1984 mold for that comic pack mosnab showed us.

We hit the clearance aisles at Wal-Mart this weekend, just checking for anything "cool" for our nephews.  We ended up picking up some cheap toys to have at our house for them, and one of them was one of the Comic Book 3-packs.  They had the first series of them on clearance for $3 each, which I thought was a deal.  I think I'll keep the Snake-Eyes for myself, although all three are tempting.  I've thought about collecting Joe a little bit, but best stay clear.  Sounds like some neat stuff on the way though.

If I had a million I'd be buying Vintage Joes like there was no tomorrow.  Only 1982-1987 though which is the stuff I had

I probably will pick up the greenshirt pack even though I am disappointed in their goofy heads.  They have to stop making figures with facial hair.  The bodies will be good for custom fodder.  The heads will be smashed with a hammer.  The CG packs shouldn't each have a Firefly.  I'm sick of seeing that figure.  It's probably not really him, but still, they could have replaced him with another CG or a CGI.  I can't say that I care for the body used for the twins, either.  I will just pick up one of those packs if I see it.
