Actually in one of the newer NJO era books,R2 slips out some stuff from ROTS like Ani 7 Padme together,Anakin choking Padme & his/Leia's birth,so eventually R2 tells Luke some stuff.

I'd say Mual or Cody,they seem to be popular & Cody looks cool as well.
Boba was in the S.E. ANH in the Jabba scene he made a brief cameo,which was mainly hamming it up to the camrea.

ROTS has to be it for me,Greivous & Cody are great characters.
