Would you be better to ask a local bookstore to order it for you if they can? I will be checking at the local barnes and Noble to see if they can get it.

As far as I know, the book is only available through his site.
If a local bookstore could order it, they would need the demand to make an order.

Best to have a few people up here interested in getting a copy & splitting the shipping as the more books you order, the shipping gets better according to the shipping chart.

Shipping Chart (http://www.frontbackbooks.com/index.php?action=shipping_details#INTL)

1 book:   $15.50.
2 books: $20.05.
3 books: $24.45.
4 books: $ 28.85.
5 Books: $ 33.25.

Wow $15.50 for shipping.  The book rate should only be $5.00 max?

It's not $15.50 shipping here in the States, Matthew.  At least mine wasn't.  I ordered this book from John last week, and it came out to $46.93 total:

 $34.95 - Book
2.53 - 7.25% Sales Tax (for CA residents only)
    7.45 - Shipping
    2.00 - "Handling"
---------------
 $46.93 - Total

Pretty pricey, but this book looks to be well worth it for Vintage Star Wars figure collectors.  I'm a little disappointed like some others that it doesn't cover the vehicles and playsets too, but oh well.  It'll still going to be the definitive book on the figures themselves.   8)

And Dale's correct, the book is currently only available through John's website, and that's how it looks to be for the foreseeable future...  Click here (http://www.frontbackbooks.com/index.php?action=samples) to see some of the sample pages from this book.  Looks great!

Tons of Pics?

Oh yeah.  Most definitely!  Received mine yesterday, and it is definitely a great reference source on these figures.  Great pictures, detailed listings, etc.  Haven't had a chance to really sit down and flip through it yet, but I'll try to soon and stick a better review in here...

I hope we can see this book make it to retail. Vintage is often overlooked a 'definitive' resource would be good to make available to all and not exclusive to the enthusiasts.

Look forward to a review. I am often skeptical of things like this due to the possibility of updates and more modern volumes in the future.

We should also start emailing Kellerman to expand into the vehicles and other important items excluded here.

By the way, whose collection is photographing? Is is all his stuff or does he have cool friends too?

Well this was quite the book to go through. I had to be careful not to crease the spine or bend pages as this book was a few buck! Very well put together with lots of information.  8)

Jam packed with various information of the vintage line. From showing the figures, no Droids or Ewoks  :(, to card front/back combinations, mailers & multipacks, early card designs (those are cool), proof cards, chromalins & flat boxes, store displays (this is a must see), promotional items & a nice explanation of the “C” grading scale.

This is a great reference book with lots of photos & some prices to help when looking to add to your collection. It helps knowing what the amount these items can go for but take in mind this is not a price guide. Seeing how many different card backs that came out & with offers on the fronts is amazing. The foreign cards are something to see so is the mulipacks. Weather you are a beginner or a serious collector, this a fantastic book for reference.

Kudos to John for the excellent work he has put into this book & the packing for shipping was awesome!  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/smilies/lustig/9.gif)

So all in all, if you have not ordered this book, then due so. You will not be disappointed!  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/smilies/lustig/3.gif)

Received the book for christmas and it is awesome in my opinion and a must have for any fan of vintage SW action figures. I highly recommend it and praise John for all his hard work and for sharing his passion with those of us that appreciate it.

Finally got my copy of this book and all I can say is wow.  This is an amazing resource and probably would have knocked out 75% of my inane questions here on the forum.

I do have a big knock against it though.  There is no mention of trilogo figures that I can find in it anywhere.  This is disappointing to me, though perhaps not that surprising.  I do feel that they are a pretty unique cardback though and should have been included.  Space issues perhaps.

Yeah, Jim (chuckles) picked it up from Amazon with free shipping.  I keep sending him stuff, so he keeps owing me stuff ;D  He was ordering, so he got two and sent one on up.  Very nice.  I'll wait for volume two, but I bet we see a modern book before that happens ;)
