Hey Brent do you know where in Yahoo I'd go to request a stat correction?  I've done it once or twice in the NFL league but can't find it in the Hockey league.  It's not a huge deal, but the News and Notes for Brendan Shanahan right now says:

"Advice: Shanahan, who had gone pointless in seven straight games, picked up four assists in Thursday's 6-3 win over Philadelphia. With two goals in Saturday's win, Shanahan boosted his numbers to 22 goals and 22 assists in 45 games. "

The boxscore on Yahoo also says that he had 4 assists in his stat line, but I only got credit for 3 in the league scoring.  So, I wanted to see about having it looked into to see which number was correct.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the writers for Yahoo are the same as any other sportswriter, they see what they want to see.  The link is the official boxscore for the game.  I counted a couple of times, but I keep seeing Shanahan there only three times, not the four that Yahoo is reporting.  I'll dig further if you like...

The stat line next to Shanahan says 4 under "A" - but you could be right.

If the descriptions in the scoring summaries are the official word though, then the stat line on espn would be in error.  The same page only mentions his name 3 times in the scoring descriptions despite the 4 under assists.

If you or anyone else happens to know where the option to petition the stat checkers is, I'll go ahead and send them a note asking which is correct, but if no one knows where that is then I guess I can just forget about it.

The plot thickens... I found the "Stat Corrections" page - and they have a note that Shanahan got one more assist for January 12th - but my team page for that day still shows only 3.

Unless that was a correction to take him from 2 assists to 3.

I watched the game and he had 4 assists.

So I was really thinking that by now my team would be healthy and have turned it around... but word this morning is that McCabe's groin injury is 'worse than originally thought' and that Demitra's leg bruise actually resulted in nerve damage so he'll be out longer than expected.  If McCabe needs surgery he'll be out until after the olympics.

Then my new LW aquisition got the flu and sat out yesterday....

I can't catch a break.

I was under the impression McCabe is gone for the season.  I've seen him dropped in a couple of other leagues.

News from yahoo today was that surgery would have put him out until the end of February but that he was NOT going to have surgery and that he could be back in a couple of weeks.

In other news, my team continues to sink like a rock.  I've gone from 1st to a solid second to fourth in the course of 2 weeks.  Injuries, slumps, and Jarome Iginla    are to blame.

It's very un-Canadian, but I've never been a huge fan of Iginla.  No doubt he has talent, but he strikes me as an -every-other-year kind of player.  I'd still want him on my team but he seems to slump once he starts getting a lot of press.
