I think there will be a second one as well.

Hopefully they will be straight re-packs and I can skip getting them altogether or if I feel so inclined grab a set of them for my MIB/MOC collection...

Picked up a set of these at TRU this morning.

Meant to grab the Rex and Clonetrooper variants, but I was in a hurry to get to work and I ended up grabbing a regular old "dirty" version of Rex. Oh well...

I guess I should just go ahead and purchase the Mutt w/Motorcycle and Cloth Top Truck from HTS now before those disappear from the site and I can't even get them there. I should probably also pick up a Akator playset at TRU before those disappear too.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again, perhaps this could be passed on to Hasbro...

Put two items up on HTS:
1) a complete set of ROTLA Wave 2 figures
2) a complete set of ROTLA Wave 2 figures w/an extra Toht figure (so people can have a "Melty" Toht to display as well)

Make it well known that this will be the only way to get the figures. Let people pre-order from now until the end of October. When the pre-order period ends, start production on the wave making only a small percentage more figures than the amount you took pre-orders for to account for damaged product/returns/etc...

When you get them from China in the HTS warehouse, charge people's credit cards and ship them their figures.

At this point, the expensive part of this wave is done: sculpting & tooling. Why purposefully NOT release them?

Heck, if packaging is an issue, surely you can package all five figures in a battle-pack-like box and for everyone that orders a set with an extra Toht, just put the second Toht figure in a clear plastic bag.

Even better - to make sure that you sell as many of these as possible, let all of your accounts have the ability to buy these ROTLA "battle packs" by the case and sell them at bulk purchase prices if the account buys 500 sets or more.

*ugh*

Anyone remember how long the BF Scout was available on SWShop?  I was guaranteed that figure with purchase of that game.

It was up for only a short period of time. If you blinked you missed it. There was also a slight variation between the version you got with the game and the version you ordered from SWS.com - it was minor, but at least they made it obvious to tell the difference between whether it was a pre-order version or a straight-up purchased version. I was able to order two of them w/o any problem.

Ugh, my local Gamestop - even the manager - had no idea about this figure and didn't have any in stock on the day of the game's release. What a bungled, poorly-handled promotion this has been. They owe it to fans to release this at SWS; its going for stupid money on ebay.

Yeah - this has been pretty bad. I was told at one GameStop that if you pre-order it at one store, you can't take that pre-order and get it at another. So since only selected stores got the figures and they didn't know which stores were getting figures until just recently, as a SW toy collector, there was no motivation to pre-order this game.

I was able to get four figures tonight on my way home (2 for me, 2 for my friend) when I put in a pre-order for four copies of the game - I was already going to buy the game for the PSP and XBox360. My friend was going to get it for the Wii and PS3, so that's what I pre-ordered. I really hadn't intended on getting both formats of the game so soon, but whatever. To make matters worse, I basically had to BEG the clerk to let me have the figures right then and there. He was going to make me come back at midnight tonight to get the figures. I'm sorry, but that's retarded and someone at LucasArts should have thought to themselves: "It's one thing to ask collectors to attend a Friday-night midnight madness for the entire launch of a line, it's quite something else to ask them to go out on a Monday night just to get ONE figure and ONE game."

To make matters worse, there hasn't been any policy on this - in Canada folks have been able to just continually plunk down $5 and get a figure each time. In some locations in the US that has been the policy too. Since I gave the clerk my word that I would be back tomorrow to buy the game, I feel compelled to do it and I would have been happy to do it, if GameStop hadn't made this so damn difficult. Part of me wants to just say "screw it", be happy I got four figures for $20 and go buy the game at TRU and get a $20 gift card so I can offset the cost of the Lars Homestead TurdPack (I refuse to call that a BattlePack). Anyone know GameStop's policy on pre-orders? They're not going to just charge my card the remaining cost of the game if I don't go pick it up, are they?

If at some point in the future, the figure goes up on SWS.com - I'll order another one to open. But for now, I think I'm going to stick with just one to open and one to keep MOC.

These stormies must be sold separately as saga legends or a new wave from Legacy collection.

I'm hoping for this as well. The new Shadow Stormtrooper deco is pretty neat. I'm not as taken with the Inferno Stormtroopers, but the Shadow ones are pretty cool.

Per the otheR Site, Hasbro has confirmed what we already knew that it'll be available at Gamestop at midnight on the 15th here in the States.

I'm sorry, but this is CRAP.

I picked these up myself tonight. Went poking around in places that shoppers really aren't supposed to poke and found a case of them sitting amongst cases of other toys.

Picked up two of each set. Don't think I'm going to get any more than that. If they had been $10 each, I might have bought two of each to open and one to keep MIB.

Oh well, I'm trying to get out of the army/squad building habit anyway...

Actually, the officer on the vintage Imperial Commander card is General Veers.  It always struck me as very odd that they showed an officer in the green/grey tunic and not the black uni...like the figure was issued.

The Lt. Renz in the battle pack suffices to me.  It's the same uni as the vintage Imperial Commander.  Even if it is in a battle pack, I wouldn't be surprised to see a black uni Imperial Officer with some name issued in the basic figure line down the line.

Thanks for the correction Nick - I was working purely off of memory on the vintage carded figure. I agree with you on the Lt. Renz - for me it's "good enough" too - so the Black Uniform Imperial Officer can finally come off of the lists. I'm sure we'll get a version of the figure with either the same head or a new head in a future Saga Legends line.

I get the feeling that Hasbro might knock out the remaining Ewoks within the next two years.  I think we're getting at least one of them in 2009.  I think it might be packed with a new version of Wicket, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Yeah, based on one of their answers this week, it's clear they know that Wicket and Logray need to be redone - so they could easily redo both of them and package each of them with one of the two remaining Ewoks. I also wouldn't mind seeing them issue one of these missing Ewoks with a repaint of the wokling in a different basket.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Collection Comic Packs

Are you absolutely sure this is the only Cade being released? ;)

No of course not - no one can ever be sure of that. But based on the answers that Hasbro provides in the Q&As, they often will indicate that a figure that a character got will be the ONLY shot at getting that character in plastic.

Besides, personally, I would rather see them hit upon a bunch of other characters from the Legacy series:

  • Darth Krayt
  • Darth Nihl
  • Darth Maladi
  • Darth Wyyrlok
  • Darth Stryfe
  • Wolf Sazen
  • Shado Vao
  • Emperor Fel
  • Marasiah Fel
  • Astraal Vao
  • Delilah Blue
  • Jariah Syn
  • K'Kruhk
  • Kol Skywalker
  • Nat Skywalker ("Bantha" Rawk)
  • Nyna Calixte
  • Morrigan Corde
  • Rav
  • Gar Stazi
  • Force Ghost Luke Skywalker

And those are just ones I can think of. I think a box set or battle pack of Krayth's Sith Lords would be a cool set. Another set that would be interesting would be to put Nyna Calixte and Morrigan Corde in the same set considering the revelation about those characters and the fact that Corge is Cade's mom.

Perhaps they could make a "Sith Apprentice" version of Cade, but on the grand scheme of things, unique characters would be far more exciting to see.

This is a great set. Glad I'll get two more of the Clonetrooper that is packed in with the AT-TE, that is definitely a nice bonus.

For me, the only change I would have loved to see is instead of us getting the Wave 1 Anakin figure again, we get the version of Anakin that's coming in the STAP battle pack - the one with the soft goods skirt. It would have been nice to have a second way to pick up another Anakin that could sit - something I'm going to want one of once we've gotten his new yellow Delta-2.

I hope Hasbro is going to be willing to send two sets of legs for those of us who have purchased more than one AT-TE. Granted my second one is still MIB, but if one day I decide to ditch being a packaged collector, you better believe that my second one will be opened up and I'll want to have the fixed replacement legs on hand.

Still no word on this and someone tried to get info from Hasbro in this week's Q&A and they blamed Lucasfilm for the fact that we have no idea what's going on with the figure.

I'm sorry, but that's a lame excuse. I guess if it's an exclusive being handled by Lucasfilm, that rules out Hasbro Toy Shop having the figure. That means here in the states, our only option for getting this figure will be a $14.99 purchase through Star Wars Shop.

*sigh*

Yes, this is fantastic news. I hope they do a great job on this Hoth Rebel Trooper - personally I'm hoping the uniform is the Echo Base Exterior White/Gray uniform, but since they haven't really done an interior Echo Base trooper yet, I'd put money down that we'll see that version with this figure.

Collect All 92! / Re: Vintage Figures Which Have Not Been Updated

To be honest, there was a point in time when I used to consider the two Hoth Soldiers "done". I've since changed my mind for two reasons: (1) the POTF2 and Saga generic Rebels both SUCK and (2) even if those releases were to be consider decent, none of them really "matches" the outfit/head sculpt combinations that were issued by Kenner. To make matters worse, we've still yet to get an Echo Base Interior "no-name" Rebel Trooper. Sure we have Derlin, in the right colors, he's a named character, not a generic Rebel trooper.

For me one of the biggest sticking point is the darn moustaches... For some reason, Kenner felt compelled to add moustaches to the Hoth Rebel Commander and Caucasian Bespin Guard. I guess from my point of view, with what they've done with that Endor Rebel Body, essentially releasing it four times (1st release, TSC Version 1 (Caucasian), TSC Version 2 (African American), TAC (Modified to be Rebel Vanguard)) - I don't see any reason why they couldn't do the same thing - changing heads & hands on top-notch body sculpts of an Echo Base Interior Rebel Soldier, Echo Base Exterior Trenches Rebel Soldier and Bespin Guard. With all of the head swaps and repaints they do, adding three new bodies like this will sustain them for a while. In the case of the Hoth Rebel troopers, I don't know about you guys, but they could make new heads and paint variants many times over and if the body was a good SA and I'd be extremely happy picking up each one to flesh out the Rebel side of my Hoth battle diorama.

With regards to the Silver RA-7 - now that we know it's the Build-a-Droid for Wave 4 - seeing that I'm of the basic CYA mindset, that's good enough for me. I could care less that it was never carded individually and yeah - the one in the Death Star was black chrome, not silver chrome, the dirty silver chrome version was in the Sandcrawler. So it is nice to see that Hasbro is taking care of people who want the droid one way or the other or both (now if I can just find Wave 3!).

Good news Re: the Imperial Dignitary (sort of) - the bad news is that they're saying the Sim Aloo (the name of the Kenner dignitary) is Sate Pestage. Did Sim Aloo's name change when I wasn't looking?

With regards to the Death Squad Commander - like someone said - purely due to nostalgia, we've gotten Blue Coat versions of both the hood-down and hood-up Modern Vintage Han - and since it's been proven that the coat was really brown, these blue versions were created PURELY for the nostalgia factor since the vintage Kenner figure featured a blue coat. I don't see how Hasbro looses out by sticking the TAC Death Star Trooper in a battle pack or even on a Saga Legends card in a Gray Uniform repaint, so like I said in my previous post - this is a no-brainer.

Another figure that can be crossed off my list is an Imperial Officer in Black Uniform - the Assault on the Shield Generator pack is going to include one of those, granted it's a ROTJ Imperial Officer as opposed to an ESB Imperial Officer which is what the Kenner figure was supposed to be, but then again, the Kenner figure showed a picture of Captain/Admiral Piet, and he was never in black, so I could care less if they call it Commander Praji or Lt. Renz or Captain D-Bag, they're going to continue to give the body a new head sculpt and Imperial Officer us to death with this body sculpt so I say bring it on.

That leaves the Jabba Palace Guard Klaatu - which I think Hasbro said is on their short list or coming in 2009 or soon (I can't recall exactly, but they did specifically touch on this figure recently in a Q&A session).

And the two Ewoks - which like other things, all they really need to do is take the Ewok 2-pack, make some different cowls and paint the two Ewoks colors to match the Kenner figures and call it a day. This is another excellent candidate for either a repaint wave or a Saga Legends figure.

Can you share a picture, by any chance?  I've heard this from one other person and haven't seen it myself.  And I've seen at least 6 of the Cade sets so far.

Thanks to Jeff's quick response - the pictures he posted are exactly what mine looked like before I opened it.

I did notice that for some odd reason on the front of the packaging it's mis-numbered as Comic Pack #2 - the back and bubble insert correctly show Comic Pack #4, but the front of the card back is wrong.

Cade's a great figure - you can tell that Hasbro probably figured that this would be the ONLY chance to deliver on this character so they better make it a good one.
