Even though I don't collect these tiny overpriced ships, I might have to pick up the orange and red Jedi Starfigher. I thought the hot rod paint scheme was really cool when I saw it in the Art of Revenge of the Sith book, so it's pretty cool to see the design realized in toy form. Hopefully it comes out for the 3 3/4 inch line.

I caught I Am Legend last Sunday. Pretty good horror movie, although some parts were kind of random. Why did Neville keep a hand grenade in his lab? Seems a bit excessive. I'll probably dislike the movie after I finish the book.

I plan on seeing Walk Hard and Aliens vs. Predator tomorrow evening, so I hope those are good. Just about any movie is better than the first AvP film.

I had a very nice Christmas with my family today, but I did not get a lot of Star Wars stuff. What did I get? Here's a list:

-Blazing Saddles DVD
-Robin Hood: Men in Tights DVD
-Stormtrooper Mug
-Boba Fett Mug
-Milk Frother, so I can make cappuccinos and stuff
-$25 in Starbucks Gift Cards
-Various Powders to flavor coffee
-Several Scratch-N-Win Lottery Tickets
-a new belt, which I don't need, so I'll be returning it
-Cookie dough scooper... kind of a wierd device, but I like it. I cannot wait to use it
-$135 in cash
-Mandoline Slicer for fruits and vegetables
-$25 American Eagle Gift Card... I'm not too sure what to do with this, as I have a surplus of clothes as it is

Overall, I didn't get a lot of expensive stuff, mostly due to my birthday being four days away, but I'm very happy.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Wave 7 - Battle of Endor

I got Concept Han Solo from a trade with my dealer. Probably my third favorite figure of the Concept art subline (McSnowie and Chewie are much better in my eyes. Han is still a very cool figure with excellent sculpt, paint, and articulation. Two parts that really appeal to me are the cape (I love the way it's sculpted, with the wind blown look) and the pistol (the design is so simple and basic, yet it looks so deadly and lethal in the hands of a Sand Trooper or Nemoidian Soldier.) I can't wait until I find the other five figures from this wave, especially the ewoks.

These look... interesting. I might pick up the Attack of the Clones set if the tin artwork is different and because I want Oppo and Zam, but the other sets are definite passes, especially at $25 to $30 apiece.

The good news means, with all those exclusives hitting at once, they are guaranteed to hit clearance quickly too :)

Very true!

Hmm, I haven't really done this before, but I wonder if it would be prudent to keep the receipts from this stuff, them buy a replacement when they go on clearance, then return it with the first one's receipt to get some of your money back.

I'm seriously thinking about doing that for this Target stuff.

Again, I've never done that before, but have heard of it being done.

Any thoughts on this? Is that against the "collector code"?

Just curious to see where people stand on that particular issue.

As a 15 year old with little money, I do this exact thing at Target. I buy what I want at full price when the new product hits with the best selection, open the product, save the receipt and wait until clearance hits. When that time comes I will rebuy the product for 50% off or whatever the discount is and return it with the original price receipt.
Is this morally wrong and/or against a collector code? I think not. You would not be stealing, nor you would not be preventing a fellow shopper from purchasing a product. I like to think of it as getting the best selection of product at clearance price.
Here's an example to make my explanation clearer: I bought one set of the VTAC figures and six extra Snow Troopers (total of 12 figures) in June at Target for $13 each. In early August, the VTAC figures were clearanced at Target. I bought 12 more VTAC figures for $3 each, and returned them with the older receipt for a $13 refund per figure.  So, I have a set of VTAC figures and six Snowtroopers that cost me $3 per figure.
If anyone has a problem with this and feels the need to challenge me, feel free to do so. My feelings won't be hurt. As a high schooler, I need as much money as I can get (dates, movies, food, car, gas, saving for college, etc.) so I am going to maximize the efficiency and usage of my cash so I can continue to do necessary activities and still enjoy myself.

Hey Corman, is Wednesday the definite release date for Dark Times #5? I really don't want to take a ride to the not-so-local comic shop only to find out that it has been delayed again.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Wave 5 - Expanded Universe
« on: September 23, 2007, 11:34 PM »
Soo... my dealer hooked me up with a Wave 5 case last weekend for retail price, and I couldn't be more pleased with the new figures. Here's some mini-reviews for anyone who cares everyone to read and enjoy:
Yoda & Kybuck- After the TSC Tin set Yoda, I thought that the ROTS mold Yoda couldn't get any better, but I was wrong. The hooded robe (with ear holes!) is very cool, the figure has a nifty pose, and the lightsaber hilt/bandolier is a really nice touch. The Kybuck is just... wow. 2007 is definitely the year for collectors of Star Wars creatures. The Kybuck is very tall once assembled, but the articulation is very basic. Surprisingly, quite a few cool poses can still be achieved by this beast and Yoda looks great posed on top of him/her.
Grievous- Another great figure from this wave. The size and bulkiness of this figure (with all gear) reminds me of the Sneak Preview Wookiee Warrior figure. Arm articulation is not quite as good with this figure, and few poses can be achieved with Grievous using his sword or rifle. Articulation wise, this figure is the loser of the wave, but overall he is really, really cool with a great sculpt and a bunch of accessories.
Starkiller Hero- Not a very interesting or exciting figure, but it is still pretty cool. She is a great companion piece to the McLuke figure from earlier this year, and comes with a lot of removable bits and pieces. A great figure for a random spacer in a cantina setup/podrace scene or something like that.
Anakin- A pretty good figure with great paint apps, very good articulation, phenomenal sculpt, and nifty accessories. Downside: fragile wrist plastic. The hand on my figure snapped off right out of the packaging, but luckily my dealer has another for me, so it's all good.
Hermi Odle- Another highlight figure from this wave! The paint apps are a little odd to me (a bit too pink looking in some parts on the skin) The cloth cloak is a bit funny looking and hard to get to sit right, but the figure's sculpt, articulation, and weapon make up for that.
Malak- Malak is a very cool figure, and might be one of my favorites from the whole line. The articulation, weapon, and sculpt are all great, and he includes a neat little surprise with his head. Awesome figure for a Sep Commander or Dark Acolyte.
Revan- See Darth Malak
C-3PO&Salacious Crumb- Cool figures with neat paint apps, nifty features, and good articulation. Great combo and a good value for the price.
Roron Corobb- We need a new Foul Moudama figure. Hell, we need a new cantina Hammerhead figure. Roron is a great looking figure. Articulation is top notch and well hidden, and a better figure could not be asked for. Everything you want a backround Jedi figure to deliver is included. Now I cannot wait for Wolfman Jedi in December.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS ARC-170
« on: September 23, 2007, 10:35 PM »
As much as I hate to bump really old threads, I wanted to talk about the ARC-170.

After over two years of admiring pics of this ship online, I finally bought a 170 NIB for $25 shipped to my door. I can't say that I was disappointed by the toy, but I can gladly say that this was the best new vehicle of the ROTS action figure line.

The "action handle" or whatever on the bottom of the ship is really cool, and makes "flying" the 170 around the house way too tempting(and fun!) I like to drop bombs on my droid tanks.:P The screw holes don't bother me at all, but the four extra stickers and lack of weathering do.

Overall, I'm glad I got this version of the ARC-170 instead of that Target/Clone Wars repaint piece of crap, and I'd gladly buy a second if repainted correctly. (i.e. Titanium blue paint scheme, ROTS paint scheme w/ V-Wing style weathering, etc.)

Well, I respect your opinion, but I do believe you could have worded it differently as not to offend/anger people that do like that series of movies. Just my opinion.  ;)

I caught Halloween last night, and I thought it was pretty good. I had a bit of trouble getting in due to my age, so after getting tickets to Balls of Fury, the guy who rips tickets let my friends and I go into Halloween after he saw that I brought along my good friend Mr. Bribe. Well worth the $10, and I do hope Saw IV is able to top that level of blood, violence, and gore.

you bribed the guy?Wow. So is this movie basically just Saw with new characters?(in other words just random gore  with crappy story to make it look meaningful) If so it sucks already :(

Well, it wasn't the same type of horror as Saw (Slasher/serial killer film compared to torture), but had about the same level of blood and gore. I guess I should've been a bit clearer on that one. Halloween was entertaining, but not worth repeat viewings or a purchase on DVD if it's over $8.00.

Saw's stupid.

Thanks for posting that. I apologize for even bringing up a "stupid" movie because I enjoy it. It was the wrong thing to do, and highly inappropriate.
