Actually Matt, those are the theatre's that are participating in the trilogy Tuesday.  They are the only ones that have access to the extended version prints and they will also have access to ROTK so....they can show all three movies back to back to back on Tuesday.  The reason you see no way to purchase Tuesday trilogy tickets is because they are all sold out.  As far as I know (and what was posted at TORN), the only way to get them is through a third party.

Then dumbass me with another "late/uninformed" response:

Quote
So I guess the LOTR site just pulled all mention of Trilogy Tuesday since it's sold out now?  Was it the same exact theaters listed for the two EEs that were showing the marathon too?  I could probably stake one of them out and buy a ticket off someone there, I suppose...

Sorry Beth, I seem to be lacking a little in the reading before posting category today (or am just taking too long to write up my posts)...   :P

But yes, I'd fashion a guess that most SW fans also VERY MUCH dig LOTR.  It is what the SW Prequels should have been, after all...   ;)  So if there's any more LOTR Trilogy marathons planned (or other juicy news), please do share with us!  Thank ya'!   :-*

Holy crap!  Just checked eBay for some tickets, and found some for one of the two local places that has it showing...  $400 for a pair, with 6 bids so far, and over 4 days still left on the auction!   :o

Here's another pair of tix, for the other local theater in Hollywood that's showing the flicks: $600 starting price!  :'(

Check out the prices these tickets are going for...  Absolutely INSANE!!!   ::)

And of course, the obligatory petition to sign, begging for a wider release of the Trilogy Tuesday marathon...   8)

What the hell, I signed it.  So should you!   :P

Will do :)

As for the prices....Yes, they were also that high on Ebay the actual day you could order them.  It was insane (and ticked off a lot of people).  Like I said, it was nuts....servers crashed and many people had no way of running to their local theatre so they were left without any tickets.  I was lucky that the Wisconsin complex had a half way decent website and ordering the tickets went pretty smooth (once they were actually put online).
Lots of horror stories in the forums at LOTRG...glad nothing like this happened with Star Wars tickets (at least nothing I ever heard of).

A lot of those tickets on eBay are being bid by people with low feedbacks.  ::)  I suspect shill bidding or bogus bids! Though there are some I checked that have high feedbacks & could be legit.

LOTR: Fellowship Extended Edition: In Theaters
« Reply #35 on: December 4, 2003, 02:23 AM »
Ok, so its not officially in (select) theaters until Friday, but...

Just got back from watching Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition, and it was fantastic. I've seen it numerous times before, but seeing it in a theater adds a LOT. I noticed a lot of stuff I never picked up on, and the sound effects alone call for a full movie theater experience (I pride myself in owning a very high quality home theater, and tonight I noticed handfuls upon handfuls of new sound effects I had never heard through home viewing).

If its showing in a nearby theater, I'd strongly recommend seeing it on the big screen.

And the schedule, just in case youre interested:

I'll be driving down on Saturday to New Berlin, WI to see FOTR.  Glad to hear how much you enjoyed it.  I wish I could see TTT also but it's an eight hour trip and it's too close to the premier of ROTK to make the trek again.
