Just saw this posted over at Snowtroopers:
Postal Strike........June (http://pub23.ezboard.com/fpotns62893frm25.showMessage?topicID=187.topic)
This may not happen but to be on the safe side, be prepared for any parcel & mail delays if it does. :(
Me no like. >:(
-
That would absolutely suck for all of us!
DSJ -- I clicked on that link and noticed you have a different username over there... any reason? And yes, we do have the fastest site on the Net. 8)

When I registered there, I picked Vlix as my name. You cannot change it. The only way do to so is if I re-register & pick another name & all my posts will be under 2 user names. So I just stuck with it as people would remember me by the one name.
I really wish they could change names. :(
I think my Avatar is a dead giveaway. ;)

who's giving away the dead? ::)

Still a strong possibility of a strike in Canada. Both sides are negotiating, but from words of one of the carriers, don't count on your mail in July :o
-
Yep, not looking to good at all. If they go out then alternative routes will have to be made. >:(
-
Big update. Really not looking good. :'(
The topic can be read on RS & Snowtroopers.

Well crap. You BETTER get my package before anything actually goes down, or I'll be pissed! It already seems to be running pretty late in getting to you. Bob got his 12" Gammy in just about 5 or 6 days, and Shawn (in Montreal, Quebec) already got a figure I sent him just a week ago, so I don't know what the heck's taking your package so long Dale! :-\
Making me a little nervous, I tell ya'! Give me a shout as soon as it shows up bud... :-*
-
A postal strike in Canada? That is definitely not good news.
-
Aw, crap. >:(
-
Oh, oh! Looks like it may be July 18th! :'(

I have 4 Star Wars packages on route from some good people here at JD and RS. Hopefully they arrive before the Post Office Strikes Back. >:(
-
I wasnt aware that the strike could be happening so quickly.I'm getting worried..Shawn I hope all your packages make it to you safely.
-
I'm just glad I barely snuck my packages in to Dale and Shawn in the nick of time! Guess I'll have to hold off on doing anymore Canada trades 'til the situation gets resolved...
Sorry fellas! :-\ Let us know how things turn out...
-
Hey Mike thanks for the thought. I'm still going to get the M.O out to you as promised on Tuesday. At least it will be somewhere in the USA by the time the strike hits.
Glad we got that deal done before this nonsense strike Matt. 8)
I just told Cory to go ahead and send some stuff, I really didn't think the strike would happen. Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see.
BTW my bunny just pissed on our bed. Little $%@*!

That's why all of my stuff is getting shipped to Jim these days. A couple of the good folks on here and a number of ebay sellers have been willing to ship up North, but I've passed on that option. More expensive in the long run, but there can be benefits too. Besides, Jim is building a real nice collection without spending a cent. ;)

It looks like everything is going to be okay afterall. ;D

That is great news! Lets hope the strike doesn't happen at all.
-
We shall see at 12:01 am. They have to vote on the new deal tonight.
A new deadline of 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time Monday has been set for reaching a tentative deal, although Canadian Union of Postal Workers members could technically walk off the job before then.

Make up my mind! >:(
Canada Post agreed to a 24-hour extension of the strike deadline at the request of the CUPW. Talks will continue in an effort to negotiate a new collective agreement.
-
::)
-
What exactly do they want? More money, better benefits... what???
-
Not that I've been following that closely, but I do know there are some pretty contentious issues in terms of long term security. Pension, end of career payout, etc. So in a sense, yes, money but not simply wages. I think that part has been hammered out.
-
Well, I hope everything gets resolved quickly.
-
Talks extended again (Tuesday) (http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2003/07/20/141227-cp.html) ::)

The word just came in that the Strike has been Postoned again. Another 24 hrs till we know whats going to happen. But by the sounds of it all they are trying to do is finalize the "Wording" of the reached
agreement. Won't know for sure till tomorrow evening
-
Up, down, up, down. It's a roller coaster ride! ::)
Hopefully they will get this over with soon.
-
OVER, thank God... ;D

Assuming this if correct and final, should I go ahead and ship out the Star Tours loot to ya' Dale (and Bob)?!? LMK, and I'll fire 'em off muy pronto! :-*
-
I'd say your 99.99% safe to do so Matt, but you better wait for Dale and Bob's official word. ;D
-
So the whole Canadian Postal strike issue is completely over-and-done with? If so, that's great news for us all! ;D
-
The next 72 hrs will tell us if it's over with. They still have to setlle the contract so lets just hang on a few more days. :-*
Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers agree on framework for settlement (http://www.canadapost.ca/business/corporate/about/newsroom/pr/default-e.asp?prid=937)

>:( ::)

They just have to dot the I's and cross the T's. It's over.
Both sides have realized that people can live without the post office just fine. If they were to go on a long strike, consumers would learn that Fed EX or UPS can ship packages, and instead of letters they will eventually all use PC's for email.
The post office is a dinosaur, and is not too far from extinction.
If a strike happens, more people will loose faith in this dying system. Too much loss in it for both parties, not too get a deal done
Just look at our good buddies at MLB. ;D
-
I just heard that Canada Post and CUPW will probably
sign a deal very shortly. I hope so, it's driving me nuts... :P
-
It's finally over. No Strike!
