Title: Spuff's Simple (Lame) Obi Armor Custom
Post by: Darby on August 23, 2005, 10:34 PM
So I bought the Jedi/Sith Battle Pack, but didn't like the Obi Armor version included.  I made a new out of an AT TE Gunner and the simplest head swap ever:

Sorry for the lame pic, but I used my scanner since I don't have a camera.  For as simple as it was, I kind of like it.   :)

It looks like a nice, simple custom.  Nice job  :)

Not bad at all, Darb.  I may have to try that as well, since I'm the weakest customizer of all time.  Thanks for the tip...  ;)

Nice job. I'd paint the neck stumpt so that the color matches. I may have to try that too.

Pretty nice little switch there.  Those little parts swaps are always fun, makes me wish that more figures could be done this way.

 :P

It looks nice.  You might want to consider cutting out the clone armor section on the cloak (not the belt, however) so that the AT-TE's chest armor shows up under Obi-Wan's brown cloak.  It might look better, not that it's bad to begin with.  Simple swaps can work quite well.

I dont think its lame at all my freind. Youve done something that Hasbro couldnt. You made that armor work. Excellent job. Simple but extremely effective. I love it, and may do the same.

Thanks for the comments, guys.  The Tank gunner chest armor is actually visible somewhat under the cloak, it's not that obvious in the pic.  And he looks perfect on a speeder bike, which I can't seem to get a pic of, since it's too bulky to get in the scanner.

Nice? Not bad at all?! Come On!! This is the fig we all wanted! I can't even remember how many attepts I've seen with softgoods, sculpting and other stuff. And the most simple trey, I think works best. If I get my hands on the set, I'll do the same. Thanx for sharing, he's really cool!

He's a tank gunner through and through.  I just swapped the heads and put the skirt piece over him and viola, instant Obi Armor.   :)

just like everyone else said, its very nice! sometimes the most simple head/body swaps can improve a lame-o Hasblow figure 1000%! i'm going to show this to a friend so he can do the same thing :)

Not simple, it's pretty neat! Something I plan on doing once I pick up a Battle Pack.

Looks awesome.

I think I'll try that with my Obi-Wan now.  :)

LOL, I didn't even see this thread, but I did the same thing tonight. Same exact parts used, as well. Except that I cut the molded chest armor off of the cape so the cape sits on top of the AT TE Gunner and you can see that armor underneath a little better IMO.

Great job  ;D
