I've created a FREE Fantasy Baseball league for up to 8 People who want to play

#1 Autodraft
#2 No Head to Head, basically once you set your lineup every point that player gets at each position is applied to your team, person with the most points at the end of the year is the champion
#3 162 games per position

Scoring (which I can still modify):

Batting

1 point 1B
2 points 2B
3 points 3B
4 points HR
1 point RBI
1 point R
1 point SB

Pitching

5 points W
-5 points L
1 point K
-1 point BB
-1 point ER
5 points S
5 points Shut Out

Pretty simple all you really have to do is change your line up as guys get hurt or don't play

1 C
1 1B
1 2B
1 3B
1 SS
3 OF
1 Utility Player (Wild Card)
5 SP
2 RP
7 Bench
1 IR position

Things can still be changed up until a week before the season starts (March 30)

Who wants to play?

We're not drafting whole teams :P

You need an account at Yahoo I think to join (which is free)

Step 1 (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.src=spt&.done=http%3A%2F%2Fbaseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com%2Fb1%2Fregister%2Ftos)

Once you are signed in hit this:

http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/joinleague

Ahhh, now you need the league ID# which is:

64918

Password: jedidefender

THat should do it

I'm in.

My team's name is: Dressel's Rebels

So when's our draft?  And what's it like, can a player appear on more than one team etc?
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball 2004
Post by: Scott on February 20, 2004, 07:26 PM
No, one team per player...I'll set the draft date when we get at least 6 teams, shooting for 8 though

Basically you have to rank players by position (1 through whatever) and say how many of each position you want to take.  The computer then drafts your team for you

It has to be done by the time I set the draft date, I'm hoping for at least 2 more but hopefully 4 more teams.  The season is a ways off so we have some time.  I will try and set the draft day as close to the Opener as possible :)

Soooo...anyone want to think about doing a live draft...we could do it a couple of different ways...

Via a chatroom over a couple of different nights
On the forums here (Maybe Chris could set us up a Private section on the forums here to conduct the draft post by post)  If we start soon we should be able to get the picks done by the time the season starts)
Schedule a 4-5 hour time when everyone's available and do it through Yahoo

Thoughts????
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball 2004
Post by: Dressel Rebel on March 3, 2004, 10:30 PM
Dressel Rebel and Kingkirk04 are both for it.  Live draft all the way.  Any way is fine, we could even all go on AOL instant messenger chat or through a JD thread or whatever.
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball 2004
Post by: Reconsgt on March 4, 2004, 08:59 AM
For me it all depends on the date and time. I would like a live draft if possible.  The post by post is best for me as the chat room doesn't always work for me.

Okay, sounds good, we'll use this thread.

Now all we need to do is figure out the order that we're drafting in, and the date.

 :D
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball 2004
Post by: Scott on March 10, 2004, 12:12 PM
We don't neccessarily need a date, we'll just keep picking players one by one until we're done by replying in this thread...I'll try and contact the two mystery men today to sign up here
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball 2004

We don't neccessarily need a date, we'll just keep picking players one by one until we're done by replying in this thread...I'll try and contact the two mystery men today to sign up here

But we're going to need some sort of order to pick the players, so we all know when it's our turn to pick a player and post it here.  I could see the draft being held up for hours and days at a time while we're waiting for the person ahead of us to pick, in any given round.  But it'll work, we have 3 weeks until opening day.

So how do we pick the order that we should draft in?  Will it be 1 to 8 in a cycle, or 1 to 8 then 8 to 1 then 1 to 8 like that?
Title: Re: Fantasy Baseball 2004
Post by: Scott on March 10, 2004, 03:26 PM
Yeah...1 through 8, 8 through 1

Dressel, since you are here, put the numbers 1 through 8 in random order...

Anyhow, Rebeltrader goes, then Reconsgt two picks, then Rebeltrader again.

Rebeltrader-  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  That is really tough to deal with.

OCB- I noticed that Carlos Delgado is in Reconsgt's outfield.  I believe he has to be put at 1B or DH because last season he played 147 games at first, and 14 at DH, but zero in the outfield.

Kingkirk's pick.

I will be posting my 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick immediately following Nataku's pick today, I'll be around the PC almost all day.  I'm ready to go when you are, which means that you two will get to pick your 3rd rounders almost right after your 2nd round picks.

Stay tuned  :D

here's an idea...PM the team who picks next after you...Jim you're up again buddy ;)

I was thinking,  if you're not picking your current player it's because you're not at your computer and therefore wouldn't see the PM either.  I suggested to 3 members (1 being myself)  that we all swap phone numbers, which is more efficient.  2 of us swapped, the other one didn't want to, and that's fine.  Wayne (Reconsgt) and I will give our phone numbers to the rest of you, but at least 1 member doesn't want to.  I'm not at home right now but when I get there I can drop the digits to the other members.  Anyone else who wants to get buzzed when it's their turn to speed up the process, PM me your number.

The other thing we can do is to meet here for 1 hour next weekend or a weeknight and just rip through a few rounds, cuz we have 22 rounds total and we're only in the 3rd, opening day is March 30th.

Congrats Wayne!

I think Dressel's idea of scheduling a time on the weekend where we could whip through a few picks is a good one...we on track right now to finish before the season starts, but with different schedules it is taking a little while...I'm available most nights after 9PM Central and can make a few hours on the weekend work if need be...

Okay so it sounds like Dressel, Nataku, OCB all can this THURSDAY 10 PM EST March 18th.

This might be an issue with rebeltrader.  But everyone else reply.  Maybe if tomorrow night, Thursday, doesn't work, we can do Sunday night the 21st at 9 or 10 PM.

Does anyone remember which of the owners of the 7 teams in our league drafted Sheffield, Giambi, and Bonds?  It slips my mind...

 :-X

SAN FRANCISCO -- The samples from drug tests taken last year by Barry Bonds and six other baseball players have not been destroyed and can be retested to determine if the players used a designer drug at the center of an alleged steroid-distribution ring, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The seven players in question testified before a grand jury last year, and investigators had been seeking the results from the drug tests. It was believed that only written reports existed, but The Chronicle reported on its Web site Friday night that four sources with knowledge of the subpoena process said the actual urine samples remained and could be retested.

That would allow investigators to determine whether the players used THG, which was allegedly given to athletes by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative.

If the drug tests prove to be positive, MLB promises to sit all players involved for the season, if not served with banishment for life.

Bonds' personal trainer, Greg Anderson, was among four men indicted last month on charges of illegally supplying performance-enhancing drugs from BALCO. All four pleaded innocent.

"I don't have any concerns that this would be legally significant to Barry," Bonds' attorney, Michael Rains, told The Chronicle.

The other players who testified before the grand jury were Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Jeremy Giambi, Benito Santiago, Armando Rios and Bobby Estalella.

The subpoenas for the tests are due to be returned next Thursday.

Stupid Team BALCO kickin' ass 'cause of Bonds...  >:(

Anyways, how many points is it for "finding a dead body on your property"? It may be the only points I'll get out of Larry Walker until mid-May.

I'll support that.  Give him 100 points, then take Foulke, Gagne, Helton, Beltran, Dunn, and I-Rod and divide them up over the remaining 6 teams.

Done deal.

I've got at least 3 on my DL - Mauer, Sexton, Koskie.

Not that that is any excuse...

My team rocks at singles, SBs, shutouts.

I just have no power :(

Well, that's about as optimistic of an appraisal from third place as you'll find.

PS. You didn't obtain your BALCO triumverate just by accident, I purposely stayed away from Bonds (back), Sheffield (thumbs), and Giambi (knee).  Steroids do, indeed, impair your ability to heal.

mwuhahahahahhahahhahhaaa!!!
