Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Met any other SW forum members?
« on: April 24, 2005, 09:58 PM »
I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting, so please, if I missed your name, let me know and I'll add it.

I believe I met you in the group of about a half-dozen guys I listed above.

In this pic I'm the one on the left. Basically if anyone recalls seeing me at any point, give a holler. ;)

Updated from C3:

Jeff
Scott
Knashdx
Spacemantis a.k.a. Wuss-boy
JediMAC (Matt)
Morgbug (Brent)
jokabofe
jjks
Landothescoundrel

and a few other guys whose names I didn't get but who were hanging with Jeff, Matt, and Brent right outside the exhibit hall. I now regret not properly introducing myself to the whole group.

JesseVader08 and Mrs. JesseVader08 (with Jeff and JediMAC Saturday night)

I also met an absolute sh*tload of people from other sites who you guys probably wouldn't recognize.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: More Target Exclusives?
« on: April 24, 2005, 09:12 PM »
I bought Holo Yoda, passed on the Lava and C3 Vaders and EE clone packs. But I really want this clone, even though $13 is ridiculous. I'm glad it's a regular release and not a Lava Vader type stunt.

And for the record ... it's not just red dots, they're split ovals with white circles.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: April 24, 2005, 08:58 PM »
I'm glad Hasbro went with the gold Ep3 clone instead of red again. Kudos for not taking the easy way out.

And I'm kinda glad the Ep2 clone is gold because I don't have the non-animated version of this color. However ... it's not a white trooper so now I can't army build. Though $19.99 isn't conducive to army building in the first place. Assuming I can ever find more than one. ::)

Undecided on the Anakin and Sith sets. I only need so many Mauls and Vaders, after all.

Luke is pretty obvious, and they could probably pull something off with Han.  Especially if the for the ANH version they made them both Stormtrooper ones.  Nobody would be able to pass those up... nobody!   :)

 :P

I would. ;) But then I'm a contrarian through and through. :P

What was in the "mystery kiosk"???

Evolutions, 5-fig battlepacks, and 500th Vader.

Pretty cool. Design-wise I prefer the Hailfire Droid and both Spider Droids, but I'll definitely get one of these.

I blew off the store altogether. If I could have walked right in, bought a Vader, and walked out within 15 minutes, I would have done so just so I could say I had the exclusive. But no way was I going to spend that much time in line.

The thing that really got my goat was that I wanted other items like a t-shirt, but the line was mixed so I would have had to wait behind all the scalpers hoarding Vaders.

You were only allowed four Vaders per person (four punches on the badge), but people used their kids' badges and sent in ringers because some folks were walking around with half-dozens or full cases of the things. And you just know that 50% of these guys are going direct to eBay with the suckers.

And yes, most toy exhibitors had handmade signs saying they would buy Vaders. I was surprised that they were so brazen about it, and that the C3 staff wasn't going around ripping the signs down.

I heard that on Saturday they split Vader into a separate line so I was tempted to go over there, but they capped the line way early again, and besides I had lots of other events I wanted to see.

I just hope some of the souvenirs end up on StarWarsShop.com.

P.S.: And as for the lines in general ... I skipped everything that had a wait of more than a half hour, with the exceptions of a panel for the post-NJO novel series and a couple of author signings.

True, I missed out on highlights like the opening ceremony, but I just couldn't stomach shooting half a day sitting in one spot, no matter how cool the end result. My reasons for going to C3 were: 30% to meet fans from online, 30% to meet EU creators and get their autographs, 30% to buy collectibles of the non-exclusive non-expensive variety, and only 10% everything else. Most of the things I wanted to see didn't have significant lines anyway.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: C3 Hasbro Q & A
« on: April 24, 2005, 08:12 PM »
I think I had some kind of brainfart because I completely missed the Q&A. *smacks head on keyboard* Sounds like a didn't miss a lot though. However I am heartened by the possibility of more Clone Wars toys, perhaps even non-animated ones if Hasbro takes the audience reaction into consideration.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Evolution: Silver now Holo
« on: April 24, 2005, 07:52 PM »
I don't mind holo figures because you can use them in dioramas or displays, unlike the silver ones which are pretty looking but basically a gimmick.

I'd love many of the ones Scott listed (Holo Sid being at the top of my list), but Hasbro needs to be careful about accuracy--for example, putting the hood on Leia. And when they start cranking out holo versions of characters that never appeared in this form (i.e. Holo Wicket), then it becomes just another gimmick.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Proofs of Purchase?
« on: April 24, 2005, 07:41 PM »
I keep all my cards and boxes. Never know when I might need them for POPs or something else. Plus they (mostly) have cool designs--in this respect I resemble carded collectors who like the packaging, except I store it separately from the toys. ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Eopie - ROTS style

:o Gah! Spoilage! *covers eyes and hides*

...That being said, I would dearly love a rerelease. In fact, the eopie is in my top ten of desired repacks.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: When will the clearances begin?
« on: April 15, 2005, 11:19 AM »
Just remember ... it's only been two weeks. Two weeks.

I know the die-hard collectors who are loaded and/or up to their eyes in credit card debt bought two of everything already, but some of us are just getting started. :) Besides, I suspect once the movie's out the kids and casual fans will descend upon the stores en masse and clean out many of what we consider pegwarmers.

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Star Wars Celebration 3
« on: April 14, 2005, 06:08 PM »
I'll arrive in the early afternoon Thursday and spend a big chunk of the day in the Will Call line. :(

I'll also be at the Opening Ceremonies at 8:30, and I'm 70% going to meet up with StarWars.com forumers at 11. And I'm meeting the other Unofficial Clone Wars guys sometime Thursday probably.

I'll mostly be at the EU and collecting events. Maybe try for a few actor autographs, depending on how horrendous the lines are.

I'm leaving on Sunday so I doubt I'll have time for anything that day.

Only a week  :o ... oy. I'm not ready! Besides the obvious stuff like packing, I have to get my stuff together to get signed, hit the bookstore to pick up more to get signed, figure out what's going on when and formulate an organized plan of attack, etc. And I'm trying to juggle meeting a few online groups with visiting the activities I want to do.

BTW, a question -- I registered for my 4-day pass after the badges had shipped, so I have to go to Will-Call. I should still get F&F passes even though I'm doing WC, right?

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Clone Commander Bly
« on: April 14, 2005, 12:32 PM »
Both those figures look great, Chewie and Jediknight760071!

I think I read that the commanders are the ones with the flippy visors. And I also suspect that the one with more gold on the helmet is the commander.

I've always liked the gold clones better than the overused red ones, so I can't wait until the real Bly figure comes out for those of us who're too lazy to customize. ;)
