The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars 2-Packs
« on: June 15, 2009, 10:46 PM »
I've only picked up a few of the CW figures that I like.  I missed out on Commander Fox and am really bummed about that.  Oh, well, I guess I'll decide when I see these 2-packs in person.

Thanks Mikey, it sounds like a repack.  Here are a couple of pics of what I found last year.  I still haven't found the Battle Droid Transformer, but I'm in no hurry to find it.  I'm pretty sure it'll show up in lots of quantity like with the others.

The newest Republic Gunship release has some slight modifications and repainting.  The nose art shows a Salacious Crumb like character dropping a bomb, the windows in the canopy are painted, the wing turrets are painted solid, full solid doors are included, but the side ball turrets are not.

...the new Salacious Gunship with longer closing doors...

Do you know if this a repackage of the one released last November or did they do something different to it?

Since when has Kobe started chewing gum during a game?  I saw it for the first time yesterday.  Wanna be like Mike?

Fisher was clutch when it was needed.  Fisher, Ariza, and Gasol were my MVPs for game 4.  Kobe couldn't hit FTs in game 3.  The Magic couldn't hit FTs in game 4.

This has got be good material for the "Quote Your Fellow Posters Out Of Context!" thread.    ;D

Sadly, I have to add to the now WF Depreciation thread.  I have no desire to see LOTL either and agree that if you've seen one Will Ferrell movie, you've seen them all.

I stopped off at my local TRU after lunch, and they had one BMF for $159.99 as well.  I didn't see any Lars packs, but I did see a Daggar B-Wing for $30, and the TRU mini clone busts 3 packs on clearance for $10 each.

I picked up the new CW Kit Fisto/Jedi Starfighter Transformer at WM this afternoon.  It looks like the same CW JSF w/Ring mold except for the repainting and Kit Fisto's head sculpt.

I also noticed that the V-19 Torrent TF has white as the primary body paint now compared to the one I bought which has a darker tan.  The original 2 white stripes on the engine cylinders aren't pronounced anymore in the new version.  This must be a slight running paint change.

I have the baby AT-TE kickin it underneath the "real" version and just wow - cute.
Funny, I actually have baby AT-TE displayed on daddy AT-TE's back.

Nice enhancements.  I'm definitely a fan of the gunship.  Also, I'm curious what the price point will be, $50 or $75?  Probably depends on where it retails.

But perhaps it would have been good to offer an upgraded version on the last release.
I definitely agree, but Hasbro has a history of milking their molds down to the very last drop.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Ejection Seat Debate
« on: June 2, 2009, 02:04 PM »
Interesting, I was watching ESB when MTV was doing their marathon, and I specifically remember seeing a scene where the TIE Fighter crashes into an asteroid and seeing what I thought was a solid piece of debris with red/orange tail flare coming off the explosion.  I remember thinking to myself at the time, wow, that looked a little bit odd not thinking it was possibly the TIE pilot ejecting.  If anything, now thinking back, it does look like something ejected even though it was kinda on fire.  When I looked for it in my widescreen ESB DVD (from the (Original) Trilogy 4 Disc set), I didn't see it in the chase through the asteroid belt.  I know I saw it on MTV, but maybe I don't have the correct widescreen version.  I just want to see the TIE pilot ejecting in slo-mo.   8)

Jermeer Nelson was a huge factor in both games, but since he's not around for the playoffs, it'll be interesting to see how that impacts the matchups.

It's being thrown around but seems unlikely.  Magic mull possible return of Nelson for finals

I think it will be a tough series for the Lakers since the Magic have both an inside and outside game.  Can Gasol and Bynum slow down Superman?  Defense will be key for both teams.  The Magic won both regular season games and got pretty balanced scoring from their starters.  Jermeer Nelson was a huge factor in both games, but since he's not around for the playoffs, it'll be interesting to see how that impacts the matchups.  The Lakers need to get both at home to start this 2-3-2 Finals format.
