Happy birthday Chris, and thanks for a great site to hang out at!

Happy belated birthday to JJKS, Padawan, Pete Fett and anyone else I've missed lately as well.  8)

Hope you all have/had a great day!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS - #57 and beyond
« on: May 29, 2005, 05:22 AM »
Sounds like Mark at RS was told there are 12 more figures planned and will probably be announced/shown at Comic-Con...whee!

I'm surprised it's only going to be 12, and that the rest of what we've already seen through #56 will likely be out by the midpoint of the year.  So an additional 12 ROTS figures couldn't take much more than a couple more months to hit retail, leaving a whopping 4 months left in the year for what exactly?

I'm guessing that perhaps Hasbro will switch back to a "Saga" type of line, so it can capitalize on the ROTS excitement and redistribute versions of many of the popular characters from the other 5 films, in addition to a few more ROTS stragglers.  I'm sure Hasbro knows that a lot of us are anxious to get back to the bread and butter of the OT soon, so hopefully they'll surprise us and offer some new figures from the originals in the 4th quarter of this year.

I also pray that they revert back to the beautifully styled OTC card design for the next figure sub-line as well!  8)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

Padme is an absolute no-brainer for this line, considering how neglected her character has been over the past 6 years by Hasbro.  I'm sure she's got at least 5 outfits from all 3 movies to chose from, so just pick the most unique one from each movie and let's be done with it already!

I would also like to see the prequel Obi-Wan set happen, mostly just so we could get the sorely needed SA versions of him for each movie.

Since I'd love to finally get an SA version of C-3PO too, in his gold plating from the OT, let's do a set with him and include the wirey version from TPM, and get a far better version of him out for AOTC, and then we could be done with him for good.

I'd also love to see a counterpart for the upcoming Republic/Imperial troops set, with some of the aforementioned Rebel troopers.  Something with a Rebel Fleet Trooper, a properly scaled Hoth trooper, and a nice SA Endor trooper would sell like absolute hot cakes!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Curse you, Deluxe Wave One!!!
« on: May 29, 2005, 05:05 AM »
I can't blame wave 1 in it's entirety for not having seen either subsequent wave around here yet.  Since Grievous and Vader are nowhere to be found, I can only blame the other half of wave 1.  Sidious and Obi-Wan with Battle Droid are at least 20 deep at every store in my area.  Sidious is by far the worst, as it's really nothing more than a basic figure stuck on a deluxe card.  That make no sense at all really.  I just wish they'd clearance these things out even more, since not even the recent 15% off sale at Target made much of a dent in them.  If they want Palpatine to move, they better mark it down 50% to have a chance.  Maybe then some of the stores around here could put out some newer assortments.

It's taken nearly 2 months, but it does seem that a lot of the tougher army builders are becoming more readily available lately, like the Clone Commander, Clone Pilot, Blue Royal Guard and several others.  Plus, the previous wave of the Destroyer Droid, Nemoudian Guard, and both Wookiees has been surprisingly easy to obtain.  Of course the SA Clone is still a very difficult find, but I'm hearing more reports of people finding that too lately.  So hopefully some of the more recent case assortments are getting a little bit better, and Hasbro's making some smarter decisions than usual with these things.  The figures overall seem to be selling through relatively well at least.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: So how many times have you seen it?
« on: May 29, 2005, 03:59 AM »
"Only" twice so far for me, but I'd like to catch it at least a couple more times in the theaters since there's so many tiny details that I'm hoping to get another look at since the movie flies by so fast in some spots.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: RotS TV Commercials at the OS!
« on: May 13, 2005, 05:07 AM »
I've been catching a bunch of pretty funny Star Wars commercials on the tube lately, but I think they're mostly for the Burger King promotion going on.  Some classic stuff though!  Chewbacca doing voice work in a recording studio, a Stormtrooper blasting an oven in the kitchen to heat the food up, and Darth Vader telling some guy "I am your...Uncle!"  Too funny.  I really hope they add all of these officially licensed commercials as an extra on the eventual ROTS DVD later this year, since I've been too lazy to tape any of them.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Kids and ROTS (SPOILERS)
« on: May 13, 2005, 05:03 AM »
I've been seeing a lot more kids in the Star Wars sections the past several weeks.  I don't recall that being the case so much with the prior two movies, but this one really seems to be bringing the youth back into the Star Wars franchise for some reason.  Perhaps it's the mass media advertising campaigns that are going on everywhere you look nowadays.

I did actually here a mother in the aisle this week saying that she wasn't going to let her son watch the movie, since she's heard some pretty bad stuff about the voilence factor.  I was a little bummed to hear that, but oddly enough, she was still buying him the figures apparently.  No idea how old the kid was though.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Bonus Clone Troopers!
« on: May 13, 2005, 04:54 AM »
Regular price is $19.99 at Kohl's (doubt Kohl's would get an exlusive, but you never know, they do have a lot more Star Wars stuff than I would have thought).  If these show up at Walmart/Target/TRU, hopefully they will still be $14.99.

Has there been any word of these two bonus figure sets being found anywhere other than Kohl's so far?  I just can't believe that a store like Kohl's would be getting Star Wars exclusives, when they hadn't ever even sold the figures (that I know of) until just a month and a half ago.  Seems strange.  Heck, Kmart doesn't even have a figure exclusive.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: To soft good or not to soft good?
« on: May 13, 2005, 04:49 AM »
I guess I'm more in favor of plastic cloaks, and whatnot.  It just looks better, or more realistic, than most of the clunky cloth jobs that Hasbro's attempted in the past.  If they could ever find a real nice type of material that is finer, and lies down much better and doesn't bunch up, then my opinion may change on the matter.  But so far, very few cloth goods have even remotely impressed me.  But I will say that they are of course necessary for any figures that need to be seated, like Jedi Council members, or figures that sit in vehicles.  So I can tolerate those, though I'll say that mixing soft goods on the bottom, and plastic on the top looks a little bit strange.

I think the Total Control Mace figure in the Saga line may have been the closest Hasbro's come to decent soft goods.  Still not quite there though.

Some cool giveaways so far guys.  Keep it up!

Any plans of doing a Target Clone giveaway in the future?  If so, I submit my name right now!  ;D

I admit that I've been a "lurker" for a little bit, but you guys seem cool so I figured that I might as well register and try to contribute something.

Me too!  But if there's anywhere that it's worth coming out of the lurking shadows, it's here.  Very friendly and welcoming bunch!  Nice customs you've put up so far, by the way.  Looking forward to seeing more of them.

Welcome Ryan!  I've noticed the Canadian contingent here is most impressive, so it sounds like you'll fit right in.  A great group of guys here, so I'm sure you'll have a good time hanging out on these boards.  I know I do!  Hope to see you around some more.

Hey JS!  Welcome!  Definitely a super community of friendly and knowledgeable collectors and Star Wars fans here.  I'm glad I recently made it my new home, so hopefully you'll soon do the same.  By the way, what's the origin of your user name there?
