I guess we don't have a Toy Fair thread yet...
Hasbro's Entertainment Brand Preview Event at New York Toy Fair is on Saturday, February 18th. We've seen a few things already (Rogue One 3.75" Wave 4; Black Series 3.75" Titanium figures; Black Series 6" Centerpiece Line). It sounds like there will be some other things to reveal there as well (Black Series 6" 40th Anniversary).
-
Would love to see at least one new thing revealed for the Rebels line but I'm not holding my breath.
-
Besides the recent reveals, what would you like to see at Toy Fair?
- Bohdi Rook TBS 6"
- Bohdi Rook TBS SA
- Baze Malbus TBS SA
- Luke Skywalker TFA TBS SA*
- Chirrut Imwe TBS SA
- Tonnika Sisters 2 pack (they can be 5 PoA, I don't care any more.)
- A New Hope focused wave of moderately articulated figures
*Most likely will be held back until TLJ release which means it wouldn't be shown until closer to September
-
I'd love to see them round out the rest of The Ghost crew in the 6" line - Ezra, Hera, Chopper, & Zeb. Thrawn or an Inquisitor would be cool too.
-
Well, they already confirmed Hera. I think Ezra is the next logical choice, but the look of the character keeps changing with every season. I would also really like Chopper in this line.
As for the OT and Rogue One? Bodhi and Saw would be cool, along with some Rebel troops. And a Bespin Han Solo and a Gamorrean guard are also on my list.
-
I wonder if we'll see Bespin Han and the Piggy Guard since they were "suggested" in Hasbro's survey, along with Bib Fortunate and who else?
It's nice they are doing Rebels characters. I don't get them but it's nice they delve into the cartoon.
Also would love to see more bounty hunters released.

+1 - Where is the love for Zeb, Hasbro? I'd want Chopper as a pack-in though versus a stand alone for $20.
Thrawn or an Inquisitor would be cool too.
I could pass on these - really just want the core crew. I think an AT-DP Pilot would be at the top of my list if they're going to do others.

They should just do an exclusive three pack of Zeb, Chopper, and Ezra for $50.

I'd be all over that like hot cakes!

The presentation has started. I don't think anyone is livestreaming from inside the hall. But I am reading along with #HasbroToyFair on Twitter (https://twitter.com/hashtag/hasbrotoyfair?f=tweets&vertical=default&src=hash).
-
Glad to see the Jawa finally. I like the EB set and stand a lot, but will be avoiding the repacks, except Leia and Obi-Wan since I don't have them at the moment. I bounced off the ceiling for all the great Marvel Legends stuff (GotG :o) and wish I could do the same for SW. I expect some gonzo stuff come Celebration and SDCC though.
-
Jawa looked cool, have yet to see good quality pics of the DSC though.
Hoping for some kind of word on that TRU 6" exclusive that was rumored awhile back. And possible new 6" scale vehicles.

Sounds like the 6" AT-ACT Driver is now a Target exclusive...
I was away from the internet all day today so I'm still trying to catch up on everything that was shown/announced/etc. (60o weekend in February in Minnesota? Gotta get outside and enjoy the day while I can! ;D)

Toy Fair 3.75" Star Wars Update at GH (http://www.galactichunter.com/gh/story/hasbro-toy-fair-3-34-inch-star-wars-action-figures) by Adam Pawlus.
New Bespin Han Solo? Strange, but I'll take it! :)
New Fett? And another new TFA Rey? Strange... sounds like these three will hit next Fall in some way or another.
-
I'm kind of catching up as well with all the day's announcements. Some neat stuff, but overall not too much incredibly exciting that we haven't already seen. I think my favorite new item shown is the Black Series Jawa. Always loved those guys. I love the idea of bringing back the vintage packaging for the 40th (although part of me would have liked to see them go the vintage 12" boxes route for the 6" line). That style will always hit home for mr, and having that EB stand with a complete set is awfully appealing.
That said, I don't know if it is smart for me to rebuy a bunch of these and I certainly don't have room for a big carded collection if they continued. I kept up with all the OT figures they did in the TVC line before, and those hit home a bit more. Once again, so little 3 3/4" news, which has become the norm anymore. I know we'll see more, but it really isn't the priority anymore. Star Wars is always my primary focus, but admittedly I'm usually more psyched for what is coming in the Marvel Legends line over the past couple years.
-
Well they wouldn't want to be stuck under someone's agenda on Rey again. ::)
The Han is kinda out of left field and a nice (for the moment) looking headsculpt so that's cool.
I need me some spacemonkey.
I really do hate 5POA stuff, but sometimes I enjoy having things like the Space Monkey and the fish guy.

I was checking out the presentation live via Twitter yesterday. And I texted a friend who was there and asked "Did we just witness the death of the 3.75" figure line?" The only 3.75" figures that got mentioned in the presentation were the wave of 3.75" Black Series WalMart exclusives. Granted, there were more 3.75" figures in the showroom. But with the exception of 3 figures it was all stuff we had seen before.
I take this as us being in a period of transition. The focus of the Hasbro line has been gradually shifting ever since they introduced the 6" figure line. It's taken time, but it is happening. The original Kenner line kicked off with that Early Bird assortment of 3.75" figures, and it seems symbolic that maybe Hasbro is using that same theme to shift the focus now.
I get the sense that the 3.75" figure system will continue to be offered for older "legacy" collectors who are still hanging on. But I think the writing may be on the wall that this is getting gradually phased out. We do still have some things incoming in the 3.75" line: I still haven't seen wave 3 of the ROGUE ONE line, and I don't think a lot of other collectors have, either. Wave 4 is still incoming. There's the 3.75" Black Series line, but that's very limited in scope and even more limited in new sculpts.
-
It's always discouraging to see so little emphasis on the 3.75 line, and I agree it is no longer the focus at Hasbro. But every year we say this is the end and we haven't come to it yet. The Han and Boba Fett reveals in the showroom are indicators the 5 POA line is continuing through TLJ. I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a vintage 40th line this fall that is probably 5 POA. Pretty sure it will be focused mostly on TLJ but we'll get some classic stuff too. I'd prefer it went back to the main focus, but that ship has sailed I think. :(

Wasn't sure where to put this but...
Worst toy fair ever?

Probably in the Toy Fair 2017 thread, but I agree with you. TFA Luke is probably the highlight for me.
-
Is there a Toy Fair thread for this year? Did anyone from JD go?
-
Did some clean-up and moved the last few Toy Fair related posts over to this Toy Fair thread. ;)
Did anyone from JD go?
Nope - gets harder and harder to justify the cost of going to NY when pretty much everything was announced or rumored in the days/weeks leading up to the show. :-\
I think the only real "surprises" were 6" R5-D4 (but he was rumored at one point) and the few new 5POA - Bespin Han and Boba.

Did they show TFA Luke? Have not seen a photo out in the interwebs...
-
I think he's only been confirmed at this point.
-
I have to guess that there was a restriction on taking photos during the presentation. I was watching the live tweeting, and many said that Hasbro showed TFA Luke in the concept stages. Very often images get shown during those sessions where Hasbro will expressly state "NO PHOTOS" because something is awaiting licensee approval.
-
Ok that makes sense. The waiting continues...
