So I've watched Canada's 2 games so far.  First, they barely hang on to beat a bunch of amateurs from South Africa.  That's not a typo, South Africa.
Then, today they beat the USA!
The greatest moment ever for Baseball Canada, and the game was super-entertaining.

The greatest moment ever for Baseball Canada?!  This first round of a silly exhibition is better than the 1992 and 1993 World Series Champion Toronto Blue Jays?

Walmart has raised their prices on basic 3 3/4" Saga figures to $6.63, previously $5.88

I'd say the biggest thing he has going against him is his .274 career average, plus the corked bat will keep some of the writers from voting from him on the first pass.

The corked bat may be an issue.  I'm no fan of Sosa's, but the man has amazing career numbers.  The .274 average is not an issue when you are 500+ HR/1,500+ RBI.  Names that come to mind immediately are Dave Winfield and Mike Schmidt, just off the top of my head.  Sosa has similar power numbers and average to those Hall of Famers.

The corked bat did initially slip my mind.  I guess when you add that in with the steroid accuastions, he does kinda look like a cheater.

Sammy Sosa is definitely going to the Hall of Fame.

And I'd wager that is definitely not going to the Hall of Fame.

Um, okay.  Reason?  Outstanding numbers.  When you have 500+ HRs and 1,500 RBIs, there must be some reason.  Love to hear it.

But what to do with the "probably" players.  Guys like Sosa, McGuire, Bonds - they were all "probably" on designer steroids, but we will never really know 100% for sure I guess unless proof pops up somehow.

How can you decide which "probably" players to keep out and which ones to keep in? (well, Sosa most likely won't make the hall either way but you get my point)   :-\

Sammy Sosa is definitely going to the Hall of Fame.  He has 588 career HRs, 1,500 + RBIs, 2 time 30/30 club.  Sosa hit 30+ HRs on 11 occasions (including 10 consecutive seasons), 40+ HRs on 7 occasions, 50+ HRs on 4 occasions and 63+ HRs on 3 occasions  :o :o  He knocked in 100+ runs on 9 occasions and achieved the 140 RBI plateau 3 times.  He also has 2,300 hits.

I think they are all going to make the Hall of Fame unless they are tried in a court of law and convicted.  We're innocent until proven guilty in this country until that happens.

I made a drive up the California's central valley last night made a ton of Walmart stops along the way, and was surprised by what was hanging on the pegs. Many of the Walmarts had lots of Poggles (one store had 8) and a few Sun Facs on the pegs, with little else.

Poggle's an obvious warmer, but I would have thought Sun Fac would be moving faster. I guess no one likes the bugs?

I like the bugs.  I happen to think that Sun Fac is generic enough to use as a geonosian army builder.  I've got 9 and counting...

Look at the dull brownish-orange paint on the armor of the clones to the right or Cody:

Now look at the more fluorescent bright orange on Hasbro's figure:

My Walmart just put out a couple cases of the Geonosis wave.  Here's a few thoughts on this subject:

1.  The paint job on the Utapau clone grunt in my opinion is a little too fluorescent, too bright.  It looks more dull in the movie, almost like an orange with a little brown mixed in.  The paint job on this guy is easter egg orange.  I picked a couple up, but I am a little disappointed.

2.  I think Sun Fac is a generic enough geonosian that you can army build with him.  I have about 6 of him and probably will continue to buy 1 or 2 every time I go shopping.

3.  Sora Bulq and Scorch would be a lot better if they were properly articulated.  Who makes these decisions to articulate some parts and not others?  In my opinion, everything should have 14 points by now.

I stopped by a local San Bruno area Walgreens to pick up a box of Trojan Magnums and a refill on my Prozac prescription

Walmart's got the cheapest price on the magnums by far, don't pay the extra few bucks at walgreens.

Wow, so they are out... do you know what retail chain he found it at?

 :P

I got mine at Wally this morning.

Today I found the first new thing in 2 weeks in my area and picked up the Boba Fett die cast figure.  Vader was there as well, but I left him, because enough is enough with the Vader figures already.  I wasn't going to buy Fett either, but it occured to me that this is the first action figure rendition of Boba Fett with a removable helmet, and that's just cool.

As far as future die cast figures though, I probably will not be buying any of the  characters that aren't metal to start with.  For example, a metallic Bossk does not interest me, but a metal IG-88 will do just fine.

But buy Boba today!

« on: February 28, 2006, 11:03 AM »
I think the last time I threw up was probably 4-5 years ago when I had some undercooked baked clams.  I spent that whole night convulsing, sweating and shaking.  Before that, perhaps 7 years ago, I ate a bad stir fry with chicken.  Vomited rice for hours after that one.  And the only other time I can remember was from a bad migraine before I learned to take Advil at the first warning sign.
