The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Separatist Droid Gunship
« on: December 25, 2012, 08:15 PM »
Favorite moment from Christmas morning for me:

After opening his droid gunship...

My son,"Wow! You can only shoot this down with a rocket launcher!"

Now if he only had some Onderon arc figures to go with it.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 'The Hobbit' movie
« on: December 16, 2012, 11:00 AM »
Saw this last night, and was disappointed compared to how I felt after watching LOTR. I give Peter Jackson a tremendous amount of credit for those screen adaptations. It really brought my own visualizations of the stories to the screen. The Hobbit...not so much. Some of the changes in what characters said and did, impact the effect of the story to me. All of the extra character additions were not needed. It quickly became evident to me that this has become more of a LOTR prequel than it is a definitive version of the Hobbit. Which is a shame because it is a great book standing on its own.

Has anyone confirmed where this movie will stop? I am guessing based on a Lego commercial I saw it will be right after the Eagles rescue the group from the tops of the burning trees.

Film two would then have the story-telling at the Bear's (can't remember his name) home as a great review of the first film to get things started and finish with the barrel ride to the lake town.

That leaves the confrontation with Smaug and the battle with the armies armies for the third picture.

It will be interesting to see how they shoot Mirkwood. That is going to be one dark background to spend most of two hours in.

So to review the plot summary... separatist nava computers suck because they can't detect 600 giant comets that will be in the way causing a crash on a dustball...droids roll around in the dust.

I watched it, I just don't know where the 22 minutes went. ( let's keep our fingers crossed that there will be a deleted scene added to this episode on the blu-ray so we can have a few more seconds of awesome adventure  :P )

This has George written all over it.

Depressing. I never thought I might see a new Star Wars movie before my next NHL game.

God I hate Donald Fehr.

And who lets their kid walk around a crowded department store at Christmastime all by themselves

According to the song, a dead lady I guess.

Now that is the Spirit of Christmas put to music.

I thought the episode was ok, but I am almost 40. The last arc and this episode have really made an impression on my eight year old. He has not asked me to watch episodes over an over since the box at year. I think other than the chopping off arms beginning of the season, which really was more of a finish to season 4 than season 5 episode the staff has done a great job writing fun, an adventurous episodes that fit the Saturday morning time-slot. (other than the space pirates potentially killing kids) As much as I would love to see non stop space battles and ground combat, I think they have found a happy middle ground that has a true essence of Star Wars. I will also compliment the writers on focusing on characters that we don't know the fate of. It makes it more exciting when Ahsoka can die, the younglings can be killed, or Steela can be dropped off of a cliff. Even one of the droids was taken out this week. As the 2015 episode 7 date gets closer, the window for this series is closing, but it could be a fantastic finish if they keep this up.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Only 2

His plan was always to overthrow the emperor and "rule the galaxy as father and son." (EP V) But when Luke turned himself in on Endor he really was left with no choice than to let things play out, (I would assume they would both become marked men if they took off on a father and son retreat). It may be that the "good in him" had a plan all along and knew that the emperor could be overcome only with the battle and converting Luke going on at the same time to distract him.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Disney Buys LFL
« on: November 19, 2012, 05:56 PM »
So.... I was thinking, and if Disney purchased all of Lucasfilm, does that mean they own the rights to all of the footage and deleted scenes? I am already assuming sometime before Ep 7 comes out that a new 3D release box set may include the original films unaltered and in a bluray format. But with Disney's style of releasing anything to home video (raise your hand if you own a copy of Aladdin part 3). Is it safe to assume that other titles may be re-released or released for the first time such as the Ewoks movies, Droids cartoons, and the Star Wars Holiday special (which other than some of the singing has more entertainment value than it us given credit for)? I can also see collectors springing for ultimate editions of the original movies with the special editions, original editions, and ALL of the deleted scenes and footage in the vault that pertains to that film. I hate to buy these for a ridiculous fifth or sixth time, but....

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Walmart Black Friday 8-Packs
« on: November 19, 2012, 05:13 PM »
A few years ago my wife convinced me to get up at 4 am with her so we could get a new TV at a Walmart. What they did then was bring out the pallets of stuff still wrapped in plastic with a sign that said when it would be for sale and at what price. I am guessing that it will be similar and if you get there at...say 7 you could likely preview all of the assortments your store will be carrying. An associate (assisted by the first person in line, who wants to help maintain order, will then unwrap the plastic, and the fun begins. At this store is was not a rush. Everyone waited in line an took items one at a time.
By the way the line at the pallet for the tv was longer than what tv's they had so I came home tired and empty-handed. I don't think that will be the case with the 8 packs though.

All of my Targets have had the same crappy assortment of movie hero barcs since the spring. I am more than jealous that you guys are seeing these in multiple stores.

Just a heads-up. I went to TRU this morning and they had a whole bin in an aisle filled with these, there were only three in the regular Star Wars section. My store had 3 sets with the shuttle. So if you go out Friday, keep an eye peeled for this bin.

Mine was delivered today. The box it shipped in was at least 5 times the size of the package. My wife thought I bought the whole store out when she found the box on the porch.
