Title: Marvel Superhero Squad
Post by: Jim on August 25, 2006, 10:16 AM
Does anyone have info on these? They are Marvels attempt at the Star Wars Galactic Heroes line.  They are suppose to start shipping early 07 and I cant seem to find alot of info on these, other than the few pics shown at Comic-Con.  Anyone?

I think as it gets closer to when Hasbro officially starts releasing the items, more info will come out. My guess is toy fair.

ToyNewsI.com (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=23&itemid=10176) has a look at the first series from this line, which consists of the following 2 packs:

Captain America/Hawkeye
Cyclops/Magneto
Colossus/Angel
Wolverine/Sabretooth

Have a look at the first four packs at the linky, if interested.

Based on the pictures I see that Hasbro finally found a way to get X-Babies (Marvel Universe Babies) out to the public.

I would have preferred the henchmen box set and especially the Frog of Thunder!  ;D

ToyNewsI.com (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=23&itemid=10361) has some pics up of Series 2 of this line including Hulk/Wasp, Iron Man/Thor, Daredevil/Elektra, and Punisher/Ghost Rider.

I'm not sure if anyone is too interested in these here, but there have been pics posted over the past few days/weeks of some of the upcoming waves.

X-Men/F4 Wave (http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=10728)

Spider-Man 3 Wave (http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=10724)

Fantastic 4 Wave (http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=10725)

I have to admit, I've been stashing some of these away for the future little one, and will hopefully continue to.  Like the Galactic Heroes line, it really seems like a simple, fun, and fairly inexpensive line for kids (or collectors).

Thanks for the pics.  I think these are pretty cool too - good way to get my kids started on action figures at an early age.   ;D

It looks like there is a new 8 Pack (http://www.cooltoyreview.com/story/front/Super_Hero_Squad_Collectors_Pack_105679.asp) on the way, complete with a spiffy box w/handle.  Anyways, its 8 repaints, but they technically make some new figures, such as: USAgent, 1st App. Daredevil, Johnny Storm, War Machine, and more.

Pass.  Not worth it to get the Avengers figs unless its on clearance or something.

It looks like Galactus and a Sentinel (http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=10923) are on the way for this line as well.  Pics at the linky.

If i was buying these I would be really happy. This does give me hope that we may someday get a galactic hero Rancor, Bantha, and Jabba the Hutt though  ;D

Looks like there are some more Mega Packs on the way, including an "ultimate version" Giant Man w/ Iron Man and an Apocalypse with "flocked" Beast.  The Beast is kind of cool, reminds me of the Moss Man figures from the He-Man lines.  You can see some pics in this thread (http://www.fwooshnet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34210&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=495) over at the Fwoosh.

Found the big'uns the other day.

They're really cool, but I was hoping for a little more articulation, especially out of Galactus.  I'd say they're worth the $10 though.  :)

I found these at Target, but I also saw a Sentinel at TRU today.

I saw one of each of the "mega packs" at TRU this weekend at $10.99 each.  I was tempted, but with all the spending on exclusives and such the past couple weeks, I passed.  Plus, I can wait for Target or WM to stock them slightly cheaper.  Seeing them did make me think that they could carry this concept over to the SW line.

I found the mega packs at TRU today, but had to pass on them.  They had the Sentinel and Galacticus ones - isn't there supposed to be an Avengers one with Goliath?  I might buy that, but $11 seems steep.

That set is part of wave 2 ... along with the Apocalypse/Beast set.

If anyone is interested, MarvelousNews (http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=23&itemid=11237) has pics up of some new upcoming 4 packs and mega packs for this line, including a Fin Fang Foom pack.

Fin Fang Foom looks great, but everytime I see one of these DLX Marvel sets I can't help but think how great it would be to get a Rancor/Oola or Tusken/Bantha Pack in the Star Wars line.  :-\

I've thought the exact same thing Jeff.  I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen the Mega Packs in the Galactic Heroes line yet, but hopefully next year.  The two you mentioned would be great candidates I would think.

Has anyone here been picking these up?  I started off getting some of them, but haven't really looked that closely at them lately, aside from the Spidey ones.  I do like them, as I do Galactic Heroes, but with budgeting for next year I'm thinking about just staying away from now on.  They'll just be going to our daughter anyways at some point, unless she wants nothing to do with them.

Sweet!  I got the Black Panther and Ant Man/Strange sets at Walmart last week on clearance for $5  ???  Will likely be getting that 4pack, not sure about Spidey vs foom though - already have an iron man and don't need/want a foom.

Agree with you there - I was excited to be getting a warbird, but I don't think they did a very good job on her.   :-\  Other two are just redos or not neccessary.  Seriously, how many issues was spidey in the iron spidey suit?

A head's up to fans of this line (or those with kids to please)...

I was checking out Target's Easter Clearance deals today (75% off) and picked up a few single carded "Happy Easter" packaged SHS figures - "webslinging" Spiderman and Captain America, just $1.24 each.

If you go looking, there is suposed to be a second "crouched" Spiderman and The Hulk in the line as well, though my local Target didn't have either of these left.   :-\

Thanks for the heads up Jeff.  Although we have a daughter, I kind of wanted to get a Spidey for her 1st Easter basket this year, but when we scanned them and they were $5 each, we decided not to.  I might have to check the clearance section when we're there tomorrow, if there is anything left.

As a side note, is anyone here collecting these (either for yourself or your kids)?  I bought a few to start out, but haven't bought any since really.  I pick up all the Spidey-related sets, and have most of the "main" heroes from the first wave or two, but haven't done much beyond that.  Again, I picked these up with the intentions that this was one way I could share Star Wars/Superheroes with my daughter without the Mrs. opposing it too much ;).  It really looks like this line is expanding out a lot too, similar to Star Wars.

It looks like they'll be expanding the SuperHero Squad brand (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=7181) in the next couple years with an animated series ('09), a video game ('09), and a dedicated comic book ('08).
