Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Movies that make you cry

I must admit, I was close to tears during Boromir's death scene in FOTR.

I don't think I've ever actually wept openly during a movie. Maybe emotional weeping, if there is such a thing. ;)

I'm lucky I'm on summer vacation right now. If I had to go any longer at school, I'd skip as many days as I could. :)

I read the first Harry Potter (the Sorceror's Stone, I think?) and I...well, I didn't hate it. It was quite enjoyable, but I just wasn't very interested in reading the rest of the books in the series. I do, however, think it's great that HP has inspired millions of kids to discover and learn the joys of reading. When these kids get older, they'll be more intelligent and imaginative; are you saying that's not a good thing, DG? ;)

Hey, I never liked Star Trek, but when I started watching it, I really enjoyed it. :)

I never really played SFII that much, but I sure played my share of MK. Scorpion was my main man whenever I played (and occasionally still do).

I rented MK: Deadly Alliance a week ago, and i t was great fun juggling and slicing guys up with Scorpion's sword. :)

I'm sorry to hear that, DSJ. :(

I don't know what I'd do if I had to do the same for my dog. You have my condolences.  :-\

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: JD Book Club: What Are You Reading Now?
« on: June 6, 2003, 09:31 PM »
I just finsihed on the plane ride home yesterday The Silmarillion[/i] which is history of Elves in Middle Earth.  The thing is epic in proportion and may be my all time favorite book.  It is a very difficult read though.  There are like 200 names you need to keep track of so I was only able to read 3-4 pages a night.  The whole world that Tolkien created to supplement the history of LOTR is so rich and detailed and stunning.  You really have no idea until you read it all.  The gods, the elves, men, what went wrong etc etc  You can see some really cool almost Biblical connotations throughout the book...why do we die and is better to die than it would be to live forever?  It will definitely require a second reading just to make sure I have it all down and it will go a lot quicker then next time

Is it a very hard read for someone who just finished reading The Lord of the Rings? I've asked around on LOTR message boards, and the general consensus was that I should try reading The Silmarillion, and that it was a bit confusing. :)

Another suggestion was to try Unfinished Tales or Smith of Wootton Major and Farmer Giles of Ham.

A Darth Vader figure came to life in the movie "The Indian in the Cupboard." :)

I can't help but notice, Dale, how amazingly similar you look to my old 6th grade teacher. The resemblance is uncanny!

...Then again, you don't look exactly like him, mainly because my teacher was somewhat *ahem* heavyset. ;D
