Hey guys!

Phruby: I like your eyebrows suggestion. I think I'll make another head without eyebrows so I can swap them out. Maybe I'll do the same with Walon Vau, since he was Scorch's instructer and also part of Scorch's little "mishap."  ;D

Darth Ennis: Scorch has started to pop up more in my neck of the woods, so it will probably be the same with you soon. If not, I'm sure one of us here on JD can hook you up.

Since so many of you dug the Null, I'll post a few pics this weekend that aren't from odd angles so you get a better view of the custom as a whole, I was just trying to do something different with the photography.

The idea of Vader at a bachelor party made me laugh out loud. Those easily offended should probably not read the following. (Although now that I've said that, you probably can't help yourself. It's okay.)

Vader: (Watching stripper) "Padme! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

Stormtrooper 1: "Man, who invited that guy? He is seriously ruining my buzz."

Stormtrooper 2: "Yeah, he's a real wet blanket. He was at Ozzel's bachelor party...you know, the one where the chick was ****ing a Bantha? And he was a sourpuss the whole time."

Stormtrooper 1: "Oh yeah, the chick with the Bantha! You know, I thought that was going to be cooler than it was. But when I got there, I mean...it was really a chick ****ing a Bantha."

Stormtrooper 2: "Yeah, I felt bad. I mean, he was really giving it to her."

Stormtrooper 1: "I kind of felt bad for the Bantha."

Vader: "Padme...Padme...*sob!*"

Stormtrooper 1: "Holy crap, dude. Who the hell is Padme, anyway?"

Stormtrooper 2: "I think it's some chick he was with before the whole Vader thing. Y'know, before he changed his name and started having to poop in the suit. Probably why she left him."

Stormtrooper 1: "Wait...Vader's not his real name?"

Stormtrooper 2: "Nah. I think it's Corey."

*Apologies to all of you, and the writers of the 40 Year Old Virgin.  :P

I know almost nothing about SG1, but that is simply amazing, Hemble!

Option 3, Chewie. Man, I can't wait to see the "Special Edition"s.  :P

I love the Qui Gon, he really looks like he's throwing down. Why Hasbro hasn't done an updated Qui-Gon I'll never know. It looks great as is, but if it were mine, I'd have to make the boots accurate...I am way too OCD to leave them as is, but that's me.

If you do ever switch them out I'd suggest using the ones from the Opee Qui-Gon creature set, for the ankle articulation.

Hemble's the master of realistic paint apps, so I default to his judgement. That's the best way to get it to look realistically blonde.

Thanks, guys!

hyourittai, I agree on the Evo head...it's my favorite of all the clone heads, with the exception of Jango himself...but that head doesn't work for everyone.  ;)

Shapao: Go for it! I too am planning on making versions of Skirata, Jusik, Etain and Vau, but am waiting on some official pics of them to base them on.

Gregorbian: Thanks! I did model this one a bit after that 12" version (mostly the color) but tried to keep a balance of what we've seen from "official" EU sources and keeping in mind what gear a real commando might need in the field. As for Darman...two more to go (Atin and Niner) and I'll have my Omega Squad complete!

Roron Corobb: The Whipid's gear are indeed from other figures, but you may have a hard time tracking them down. The shoulder pads come from a Stan Winston "Realm of the Claw" figure, and the bandolier is made from a cut up accessory from an Ultraforce "Prime" figure. Good hunting!

Here's another update, a work in progress SA Scorch with removable helmet:

As you can see from his new feet I haven't fully painted him yet,  as I haven't found the exact yellow to match his armor.

Eventually I plan for all my commandos (At least Delta and Omega Squad) to have removable helmets, as I think it's just a lot more fun that way. (Although I may have to hit up Glassman for some helmet casts, as dremeling these out really sucks.)

Happy Easter. everybody!

Ripley: Always good to hear from you in my thread! Believe it or not, The Whipid's paint job looks much better in person...I'll have to try to get a pic that shows off the fur variation a little better. I have to give credit where it's due, though...all I did was try to imitate Chewie on this one. I never did a lot of dry brushing until I saw what great effects he achieved with them. You should check out the Commando books/game, they're quite enjoyable. As for the Trando, I am indeed going to give his cloak a wash, maybe some other camo...but as for the loud shirt, it was actually sort of intentional. For some reason while making this guy I imagined him as having no fashion sense.  ;D

Kit Fisto: Scorch is still tough to find, but since he's started shipping two per case in some waves, I've found had better luck. I'm sure one of us could hunt one down for you if you need it. The Null Arc is an EE exclusive clone (I had a tub of these thanks to Red5sixx) with these parts:

Modified Scorch backpack with some greeblies glued on
AT-RT Driver gun and bandolier
BBI Holster with styrene strips
Verpine is cobbled together from three different guns, all cut up
Stormtrooper rifle
The Detonator comes from some old Batman figure, I think
VOTC Jango viewfinder

Not pictured: Ration Pack (BBI figure)
Vibroblade: Kabe figure

Hemble: Thanks a lot for the compliments on the paint apps; that means a lot coming from you!

BrentS: The trandos are some of my favorite aliens...probably why I keep going back to them! Not to mention with their feet and claw limitations, it's always a challenge to do something fresh with them.

Be careful, exjedi. It sounds like you've got some crazy "Single White Female" type situation going on. Can you think of anyone in your life who's recently gotten your haircut, and started dressing like you?   :P

Seriously though, you do some great work and I've been a lurker at your site for well over a year. I'm glad you decided to join us here on a regular basis!

Hey ExJedi,

Great job on the Cody revamp, you put Hasbro to shame.

I like it so much I think I'll post it on 'scum and pretend it's mine.  ;D

Very nice! The paint job is really what makes this!

I have a few of those mini-rigs myself and have been planning to do this as well...now I know who to send it to for painting!  ;)

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: GI parts

You may be able to fix up Dhalsim:

That's Sagat.  :P

Any of In Rem's suggestions would work...personally, I made my bare chested Darth Sion from Major Barrage...you might also be able to find an old GI Joe "Road Pig" body, but Kit would be AWFULLY buff.  ;D

Smarty: I've read all of Karen Traviss' material on the clones, and for the most part you are right, Nulls generally don't have any different armor than the other ARCs. However, nowhere does it definitively say every single ARC has the exact same armor, at all times, for every mission...heck, in Triple Zero Mereel has bleached blond hair and iris coloring that makes him look different from the other clones, so I don't think I'm too off base in crafting some specialized armor for this particular Null. And besides, if it ain't in the movies, it ain't "canon" anyway.   ;)

The Verpine is several different figures' guns cut up to look like a slightly modified Verpine gun...no figure that I know of comes with one.

Famine: Thanks for the breakdown on each figure. It was actually fun to do an Episode II clone again, and I like your ideas for the Whipid, I think I will modify him like you suggested.  Darman's gun doesn't actually say anything...I couldn't find any aurebesh numerics (although someone on 'scum has since sent me them) so I just made up the symbols on his ammo counter. I also agree that the Trando (mine, not Chewie's) needs some work. I'm not completely satisfied with him.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Part 1: Mandalorian Sniper

Hey Kit,

I like this custom a LOT. You really went the extra mile with the paint app, and the details like weapons belts, the map, the viewfinder and the like. Joe bodies are difficult to use without being somewhat conspicuous, but you have pulled it off nicely.

The only criticism I have is the head and boots. The beanie (or bandana, as the case may be) are a little too "earth" for me, as are the laced up combat boots. But those are just matters of personal preference. I really like the overall look of this guy, and agree with Chewie...you should consider a consolidated thread.

Hey V,

Most of us are pretty busy with our own stuff; my advice is just go with your gut instinct of what you think looks best, and then post a pic of your work in progress. Then you'll get all the feedback you need.
