Customizing Tips and Tricks / Matte vs. Flat
« on: January 3, 2006, 05:16 PM »
Hey Gang!  Happy New year!  Is there a differnce between the two?  I always thought Matte was just another name for Flat, but now I'm not sure. I bought and tried a Matte finish arcylic spray ( I still CANNOT find Testors Dull-Coat!) and it doesnt LOOK Flat.  :-[

Is Testors Dull-Coat an acrylic spray? or something else??

thanks for the read ya'll

I read somewhere the George Lucas Put the Fin on the Clone Armor so it would looked like it was made of metal? The article epxlained that the Clones actually wore metal Armor that was later replace by the Plastisteel worn by Stormtroopers. If I can remeber where I read that I'll let you know. I've read so many things about Clones and Stormtroopers it's hard to remeber what was from what.
You know what I mean?

Yeah man totally.  so thats where the Plasi-steel came from, I knew I read it somewhre.

thanks

Judging by what I've seen in the Movies. I'd say the Armour is cast in Metal then coated by a White Ceramic Enamel to give it  enviromental resistant properties. You can see in the pics below of Gree and Cody that where the Armor is heavily damaged the Metalic Coloration of the Armor shows through as seen in Cody's Chest Plate Scar and you can see the White Enamel where the Paint is Chipped on Gree's Shoulder Pads

Just my 2cents worth,

Ah yes, I see what you mean.  I've read that the armor; described in some guides, that its a plasi-steel; a combo of plastic and steel.  your Theory is sound though and it does make sense; but I always thought that the "Metal" showing on the armor was from metal scoring.

thnx ya'll, I think I'll go with a white/silverish tint.  I cant really beleive that there would be a whole heck of a lot of Battle Damage, just some light scuffy.

It was Gregorbian who did those killer SSA figures (Boba Fett, Slave Leia and Scout Trooper) using the Microman body.

I think he's going through finals now, but you can check his thread for tips...

AWESOME!  thanks mate.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Microman Body Cross-overs?
« on: December 20, 2005, 11:50 AM »
Hey gang,

I seem to remember someone over hear who did a melding of Micro-Man and SW to achive a Super, SUPER articulated Boba Fett.  I would really like to make one, but am not sure how to start/do one.  Can anyone provide a tutorial or something for doing this?

Thanks in advance.
