Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode III - Preview Figures (SPOILERS)
« on: January 21, 2005, 03:42 PM »
Cut all costs at all costs, and raise prices too...  Thanks Hasbro.

Seriously though (well, I was I guess, but anyway...), these are hitting here too I'm being told...  A WM near me put out a bunch (6 pegs worth) today.  Sounds like everyone's having some premature problems.

And you thought you were the only ones with people who couldn't read the date on the box!  Pffft!  Pittsburgh will match your illiterates and raise you a nimrod!   :-X

I like your idea Jeff...  That'd be neat to see, but pros would bitch about it, you know it.  :)

It'd be great though...  Pick a large, good arena and go with it...

If Lemieux's healthy, I think you'd have to bump Pittsburgh slightly. :P  At least better than the Crapitals.

Hey Adam, PM me your Rebel Storm minis list...  I'm looking for army builders (Stormtroopers, etc.) for cheap...  it's generally been working out since they're most commons and uncommons.

Building my troops to actually play the West End Games game with the new minis while I amass my WEG army separately incase I run into someone who still uses those ones too...  Nice to be covered on both sides of the gaming fence I figure.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wookie Army

I'm wanting quite a few...  I'm just curious if this is "wookie average" and Chewbacca's really just a small guy for his race, or a younger Wookie perhaps?

If this is average, I'm jonesin' for quite a few of these...  If Chewie's average than I'm disappointed somewhat to get "the fat guy", ya know?  But I dunno...  He's cool, either way, just maybe not to the point I want tons...  5 though, I'd say, at least.

And Tion has a pimp cane...  That has to count for something.  :)  It made Poggel a more interesting figure I thought...  Give him the big hat and you're off to the Pimps & Hos convention.

She gets the shaft, I agree...  On the other hand, I guess I never cared for her in all her outfits either, so I just didn't care if we got her in them all or not unless they were prominent...  I think perhaps over time we'll see more of them roll out and that's ok more or less.

I think any one of prominence should get a figure though, like Droid Factory Padme's outfit was pretty prominent...  Can't think of too many other ones though since she does have so many costume changes.  It gets to be a bit much.

I liked it better when a character wore the same clothes all the time...  Made it stinkier, but easier for figure making. :)

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone Trooper 4 Packs!
« on: January 21, 2005, 01:29 AM »
I wouldn't doubt it, and if it is "limited" (possible, but why the hell limit a set for army building?  Dumber things have happened though) then the price these are ringing in at is at least a little more understandable...  Still not 100% justified to me though, but short production runs have higher start-up costs involved.

annoying, stupid, and a larger production run would've sold just as well, but it does lend more credence to the price.

Again though, you're right Jeff that it's all in their best interest...  Maybe they're honest with their consumers though?  I dunno.

Pens are trying to pimp Wheeling Nailers (Don't ask me what the name means) games...  Wheeling, WV isn't too far really, if you live down near Pittsburgh, but I'm a good 2 hours or so from Wheeling...

They are playing a game at the Pen's practice arena, however I can't get there that night...  :(  I'd go...  They were pretty good last year I thought.

If I want hockey, it'll be watching peewee or pick-up at the rink where my gym is I guess.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 2005 - What are you watching?
« on: January 21, 2005, 01:01 AM »
In general I just turn the TV on and let it go on one of my more favored channels, but I've gotten hooked on some shows lately.

I dig:

-Nanny 911 & Super Nanny...  SN is not as good though, which is surprising since you'd think they'd be identical.

-Wife Swap (or whatever that is on ABC)...  That is just great.

Beyond that I'm a pretty big Comedy Central Loyalist...  Had Spike not taken Star Trek TNG and DS9 off the evenings, i'd still be watching it nightly.  What a bunch of dickweeds.  >:(

I watched the first couple rounds of American Idol to see their worst get kicked off.  The actual competition's retarded to me, but I enjoy the people embarassing themselves in the first two episodes.  I loved listening to Howard Stern's recap of them.  Funny.

Which brings me to the other show I watch...  Stern...  I tend to watch him on E! since I am a Stern fan through & through.  My buddy got Sirius for X-Mas (just on a whim from his dad) and it's really great...  I wasn't gonna go over, but seeing the product for what it is, I think I'm gonna buy into it just because it's so great on its own.

Hmmm, beyond that I like the History Channel and sometimes just put it on and leave it on if Comedy Central's airing crappy stuff.  Wanda Does It, Shorties Watching Shories, and Drawn Together just sucked to me...  I hate that Blue Collar Comedy Tour too.

Comedy Central still has the best programming out of any channel on TV right now though.

Oh, but HBO's great when Deadwood, Sopranos, and Bill Maher are all new...  I dig Dennis Miller re-runs too, and they've had great stand-up specials lately (Lewis Black, and Dave Attel from 1996!), but they're all reruns or new crap I dislike right now.

yeah, i can't even say I've been burned on Ebay ever.  There was what I feel was an attempt but I can be a very persuasive (IE: persistant and rather intrusive) and think I got my product because I was raising hell...

It's just outta hand.  And for the Canuckleheads, it costs a LITTLE more to send but not what some of those guys say they'll charge to ship up North...  It's total bull****.  Not only are they spiking it on domestic shipping but I've seen guys say "Well, it's gonna cost another $5 or so to ship to Canada".

I declare Shenanigans on that ****!

Indeed, those are great pictures Jared, thanks!  I dig knowing just how great a figure that Wookie's turning out to be.  So that's NOT the officer Wookie named Tarful then?  Just a generic one?  Very cool to me...  I just hope he's abundant enough to find.

I wonder if Chewie's sort of a runt for his species?

Tion Medon's cool I think, nonetheless.  As cool as any "senator" type figure can be.

Greivous is really growing on me, and the fact the first version they make of him's pretty poseable and "neutral" and I'm already getting hyped to see more of that guy in Clone Wars and E3.  Rock on Star Wars!

My disappointment for R4 is a surprise...  I don't like "features" with the middle leg, and wish Hasbro would've just done a basic re-release of the R2-Q5 body...  To me, that's astromech perfection.  I dig the colors though (a first), and the planet's neat too.

I just hate pissing with what I felt was perfect...  VOTC R2 doesn't even compare to all the astro's that used the R2-Q5 body, IMO.

The price it ended on is the price...  BIN's can run a lot higher than the original price, and I've won a few auctions that were NOWHERE in the ballpark even of a BIN...

Ebay's so full of jagoffs anymore that I'm just dis-enchanted with the damn place anymore.  It was so great not too long ago...  People were making money, things were cool, then some knob decided, "Hey, let's try all these loopholes like outrageous shipping and 'handling' fees", and they have turned the place into a cess-pit of sellers who just aren't accepting that what they have is a piece of **** that isn't worth the material it's made of.

I've been looking at some things I wanted to pick up and it's all "junk" for customs and while the price is right almost 85% of the time I'd say, the shipping is always like $10 for something that won't even cost $6 to ship to me.

Not to mention the dickhole who puts "And if you live in PA, add sales tax", that is so outrageous it's not even funny...

Sorry for the rant Jason, just pisses me off that a once great outlet's now trashed...  Nevermind the whole "AFA" thing, or people doing unscrupulous business (repros and customs) ruining a once great hobby like the vintage.  F that, I'll buy figures in person I guess rather than deal with that.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Snow!
« on: January 20, 2005, 02:51 AM »
We got hit today, but I can't say it was with a TON of snow...  I didn't go to school, even though in my neck otw it was only about 3 - 4" or so...

The thing about it was that the snow hit RIGHT at Rush Hour so it made the morning commute horrible for anyone in it.  I think they were calling 3 or 4 hour inbound times to the city on almost every major route, and some worse because of a couple fatal accidents here and there...  Bad timing today.

I doubt I'd have gone anyway though because I've learned that my car's more important to me than appeasing the professor who insists on you being at class (which seems like ALL of them to me).

Temps were cold here and there the last couple days, but they flashed a temp from you guy's in Minnesota, and it was about 40 or 50 degrees LOWER than our high I think...  I just laughed.  We get bad winters, but we've been relatively mild this one.  One snow hits and somehow we're now not prepared at all...  They were trying to salt the roads IN rush hour instead of prior...  Hah!  That equals mayhem!

Sidious had a great generic torso...  Very plain, very good for sculpting.  His legs are very neutral as well, but I think his lower torso had like a "rope" belt on it sort of...

Very strange sculpting under there...  I miss the good old days of figures being good fodder even if they had a robe that covered them.  I think Orn Free Taa would've been great fat man fodder.
