Chewie is one of the better, I like Obi Wan but I'm a sucker for the character, Luke hmmm . . . .he still hasn't grown on me and neither did Leia, Yoda also. In this case I think that some of the soft goods got in the way of the articulation (and I LOVE soft goods). Love the Vader and Stormie of course.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone Wars Republic Gunship
« on: August 7, 2005, 01:00 PM »
Ouch! Man oh man, I am an opener and mine is on a table behind me and I looked over and said insane. I would never pay that much. Better to have bought it with Ep. III earlier this year if you never got one. It would have been nice to reissue some clone trooper/gunners with the ball turrets on the side that have the updated helmet etc.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

Now I have heard and seen a slight variation for the Anakin set. First, I got mine from Kmart and my Ep. III Anakin does not have his scars on his face. This was fixed quickly because as I have found the set at Walmart and Target, the Ep.III Anakin does have the scar. Oh well, I will stick with what I got as $20 is too much for me to spend per set to have 2 of em.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Happy for the "Slow Down"?
« on: August 2, 2005, 09:24 PM »
I will welcome this break until Commander Bly, Gree, and the 501st show up, and the Jedi Temple Assult from Kmart. That and the Clone Evolutions. I am undecided on the Sith Evolutions, though a good friend of mine said it will be nice to have an Emperor who has lightning coming out of his fingertips and not his sleeves for once.

Today was hunting by default, looking for supplies we need for camping the rest of the week.

1 Target had not reset but had put out the Wookie Flyers. Passed on that, way to big IMO.

Other Target  had reset and SW had 1 end cap, and about 20 pegs in the Toy isle. They had 2 Jedi vs. Sith Battlepcks, 1 500th Vader left, and the build your own lightsaber. I swore off buying a Jedi vs. Sith Battlepack, but I was right, my son REALLY wants one so I'll know what I'll be buying soon.  The regular figures were worked through so if they had put out anything new either scalpers or hopefully a few collectors got the new stuff.

Nothing new at Walmarts.

Other Collectibles / Luke's Lightsaber Sold Today
« on: August 1, 2005, 01:50 PM »
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - It didn't come cheap, but an anonymous bidder now owns a piece of Jedi history. A light saber used by actor Mark Hamill as he played Luke Skywalker in the original "Star Wars" sold for $200,600 Friday in an auction of movie props and costumes in Beverly Hills.

A light saber used by Darth Vader in the film fetched $118,000, said Joe Maddalena, president of Profiles in History, which put on the auction.

Other items that brought big bids included a leather jacket worn by Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," which brought in $94,400 and leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in "The Terminator," which went for $41,300.

The prices included an 18-percent fee charged by the auction house.

The identity of the buyers was not released.

The "Star Wars" items were offered by Gary Kurtz, producer of the first two Star Wars movies, who put up 75 pieces from his private collection to raise money to open a public film archive.

Man, now that is one saber handle that would cool to have in one's collection!

Saga Collection '06 / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting
« on: August 1, 2005, 12:55 PM »
I think that the line will be fine over the next 5 years min. With the things that Lucas is going to be doing (TV, Animated, books etc) there are enough collectors to keep this line in business. One point I think is critical is the fact that Lucas has crossed generations with the movies and with his products. I am 40, my son is 11 and he is a HUGE fan of SW. My son will probably collect (he is loose and non-completist, which I think more and more kids are, even as they transition to adult hood) long after I quit.
Anyway, I think  the line has staying power, its proved that before and you have to remember, Lucas will probably release the extended editions of the prequels at some point like he did the Orginial Series. This is not like my beloved LOTR which is dying a slow death with every wave having variations of Legolas, Aragorn and Frodo with 1 new high in demand figure.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Return of the Beast Assortments

I would like to see the Bantha re-released, and how about a decent Rancor! Other then that, I pass on most of the beasts due to space.

I have enjoyed the Anakin Evolution set. I too am probably going to pass on the Sith Evolution set because I don't think $20 is worth it for just one figure I really like, Sidious/Palp. Darth Maul is not a major improvement, not major enough to justify the cost. Dooko, I agree, is not a major improvement over the ROTS. So bottom line, I'll be leaving one in the isle for someone else.

Now on the clone one, that is a different story! I cannot wait for that to show up!

Yeah, what sucks about it is the stocker is really cool but he did not want all 22 cases opened because they were having to take a good part of them to the back. The stocker opened about 10 cases and said 12 had to go back. So I got what I needed to cover local collectors, and then left. I came back and the scalper had opened all the cases and was taking ALL of the AT RT. I hope the stocker doesn't now turn around and stop opening cases for us, and helping us out.  Only consoluation is that he kept saying how nervous he was that these would not sell or sell at a profit. Here's hoping they hit everywhere in sufficient quantity that ebay is not a factor and that he has to return them. Looking at ebay that just might be the case.

Picked up

2 AT RT, 2 Obi Wan Clone, 1 Shock Trooper for fellow collectors tonight.

I got the only shock trooper out of 22 cases on the Walmart Floor. The others had the all white #6.

Watch a scalper take the 20 other AT RT's out of each case, about 12 Obi Wan Pilots, 12 Green Commanders.  Was a nice guy but I sure hate scalping.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS Deluxe Clone 3-packs
« on: July 29, 2005, 05:49 PM »
I saw 12 White 3 packs at one Walmart today, 6 more at another Walmart, and 3 more at a Target. No other color is showing up right now.

The white's are ok, but if you get green, red and blue you have a set of the whites as well.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target DPCI Number Reboot?
« on: July 29, 2005, 05:47 PM »
Awesome info! Glad I read the entire thread. This just goes to show on unfriendly Target is. Yes, I also wonder at the stupidity of stores who differeniate between a collector and a customer. Same thing so treat em right. I will say this, because of how I have been treated at Target with Star Wars and use to be LOTR Target is like one of my last choices for shopping now. I hate to say it, but in this war of box stores, I am more in Walmart's corner then Target because I find stuff and get help at Walmart. Ironic though that in the end that could come back and bite me in the butt.
Glad for the info though and will use it in Targets to get the stuff I need.
