Title: Who wants a new SAGA Battle Droid 3-pack?
Post by: CHEWIE on October 31, 2005, 08:10 PM
I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of Battle Droids... just the generic grunts.  Love these guys.  I really wish we could get some sort of Battle Droid 3-pk, with variation colors.  Make them with great sculpts, and sturdy plastic, and you can take away some of the articulation for all I care.

Anyone else want to see this?  Maybe I'll make some sort of cheesy photoshop custom of what I'd like to see and submit it to Hasbro.   ;)

I'm a big fan of Battle Droids too, so I'd be up for 3-Packs. But I want more articulation AND sturdier plastic.

Hasbro, I don't think it's actually that much to ask for.

I agree...  Droids are lacking on the pegs right now, and Clones need something to kill besides Neimodians...  as fun as that may be.

A 3-pack of a red, a cream, and an EU green battledroid (or a red security droid?) would be perfect IMO.  If they included a variation set where they were all Commanders, that'd be cool too, but definitely ship heavily on the basic battledroid in a 3-pack like that.

It should be emphasized though that if they do this, the figures have to be sturdy plastic.  I'm cool with the Saga sculpt even though it's somewhat lacking in articulation, but if they're the cheap flimsy figures of the Saga line, or ROTS line, then forget it...  I need droids that can stand at any time and without fear of wilting.  It's excuseless on Hasbro's part and high time they fix the flaw.

I would love this. But only with sturdier plastic. Its inexcusable that we have Battle Droids that fall over from their own feeble weight. A plastic similar to the clone rifles in the evolutions pack would be great.

I also really want a new sturdy Super Battle Droid. the game Republic Commando really makes you loathe and love these guys, and the ones we have now are pretty crappy. Besides the fact that the SBD's are supposed to be chrome, not blue.

Basically, I think Hasbro has done a mediocre job with their droids. And by the way, I include Greivous in this, even though he's not a droid per se.

Add me to the list, but all they have to do to please me is make sturdier plastic. I'm fine with any of the previous sculpts (except E1.)

You know, thanks for bringing up the E1 battledroid. Has anyone noticed how many times in his Q&A column Adam Pawlus has talked about how the E1 battledroid sculpt is the best and should be rereleased? That sculpt is pretty bad, in my opinion, and I don't really know anyone else who likes it. It sucks that Adam in particular is talking about it, because he seems to have Hasbro's ear (at least more than we do). That's all we need is for Hasbro to rerelease those stick-up-the-ass-looking battledroids, when all they have to do is give us a sturdier plastic for their more recent (and superior) battledroid sculpts.

Am I the only one who noticed this?

I hate the EPI battle droids.  They totally suck in my opinion, they are just too straight posed and too thick in certain areas.

That's why I'm up for maybe the ROTS sculpt, in 3-pks, with very limited articulation (slight different poses) and very sturdy plastic.

The POTJ sculpts of the Boomer Damage and Security Battle Droids were decent… they just need stiff plastic used for the legs

To tell you the truth, I am kind of tired of the battle droids...   :-X

I've got enough of them as it is -

- 4 Ep1 Basic Carded Battle Droids
- 3 Ep1 Vehicle Pack-In Battle Droids
- 2 Ep1 Playset Pack-In Battle Droids
- 2 PotJ Basic Carded Battle Droids
- 2 Saga Basic Carded Battle Droids
- 3 Saga Deluxe Carded Battle Droids
- 1 Saga Accessory Pack Battle Droid
- 1 Saga Multi-Pack Battle Droid
- 1 Clone Wars Deluxe Carded Battle Droid
- 1 RotS Basic Carded Battle Droid

That's 20 unique Battle Droids that I already have and that is plenty for me.

I'm sorry to be a buzz-kill, but I'm going to have to vote no to "Proposition Saga Battle Droid 3-Pack".

However, if they could give me a droideka that actually rolled up into a ball?  I'd be all over that one.  ;)

Another good idea.   8)

They could do them as a 3-pack as well so you could display them as transforming - 1 rolled up, 1 opening up, 1 unrolled - as they attack Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, or Obi-Wan and Anakin.

I dunno, as an army builder, I like to have high numbers of them... here's my current count, or close to it, and they are all loose.

EPI - Zero!  Traded these off in favor of new sculpts

POTJ Security - 6

POTJ Boomer - 8

SAGA Tan - 40

SAGA Red - 40

SAGA Red Accessory Pack - 8

SAGA 3PO/Red Battle Droid Deluxe - 6

CLONE WARS 3-pk - 6

ROTS - 30

The thing is, I don't think it looks good mixing the red and tan ones at all... and they are all in dioramas, and it would look silly to have dozens and dozens of clones attacking just a handful of droids, what kind of war would that be?  It would be over in one day.   ;)

So, I say since these are the main grunt of the Separatist army, they should almost always be available at retail, along with Stormtroopers, Clones, and some sort of Rebel Troops (although they change in each film in the OT).

I can't stand battle droid figures - I'd be happy if they never made another one ever again.

But if they do, they need to use plastic that does not bend under any circumstances.

So who do your clones fight then?

So who do your clones fight then?

I think these two are the primary concern of Rob's Clone Army...

Man, what planet are those from?  Must have a heavier gravity than Earth due to their squatness and saggy skin.  It also appears to be hot as they are panting.

The Empire and Republic have explored some strange, strange worlds...  Those look ferocious.

Bump.

I was looking at the Unleashed Battle Droids today at TRU.  I still think they should to that in the 3-3/4" line.  Make a 3-pack of them that don't fall over.
