Oh I wish they were in the system here wrong, but they're at $16.92.  I can't complain too much, I scored four of the deluxe at $9.99 at TRU.

Yesterday I bought a Belloq, bringing my figure count to 4.  I plan on buying one at a time of just the ones I really want (I'm skipping the Marion and German soldier carded releases).  I'm also not going to get any Last Crusade or KOTCS toys since the nostalgia factor isn't there for me on those.

Went back to WM to find that the indy section was just as i left it on Friday. nothing was sold or added. that being said i grabbed the indy with horse and mutt with sword. the dlx fig was still marked at $12

My original intent with this line was to simply buy one Indy, but alas... the paint apps are horrid but I've found some good examples here and there and since May 1st I've bought:

Indy w/ horse (best Indy hands down)
Marion and Cario Henchman
Indy w/ Ark
Indy w/ temple trap
Sallah

And looks like I'll be buying the rest, too.   :)
Title: Re: Recent Post-May 1st Indy Purchases
Post by: David on May 4, 2008, 09:14 PM
I bought some more Indy stuff at Wal-Mart while I was out of town this weekend.

Indy w/Fertility Idol (I was lucky enough to find one with excellent paint apps. ;D)
Monkey Man
Sallah
Marion and Cairo Henchmen

I'm really happy with Sallah, he's an outstanding figure. SA Indy is pretty great too, but the holster really sucks. :P

Getting into a new line has really made me realize just how bored I was getting with Star Wars collecting. :-\ :)
Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Ben on May 4, 2008, 10:05 PM
Indy w/ idol
Sallah
Irina Spalko
Belloq
Indy w/ark

I kind of regret the Indy w/idol purchase, since the Indy w/ horse seems to be superior.

Irina Spalko
Ugha Warrior
Cemetery Warrior
Russian Soldier

Glad to finally have an Irina Figure!

So now for me it's just down to grabbing the rest of the army builders I want until regular and deluxe Wave 3 figures hit.

Have there been any reports of the Jungle Cutter being found?

Really looking forward to TOD and some from Last Crusade

Finally got a $20 vehicle at Target and a pile of basic figures using coupons.  Love coupons.

Target here is still hit and miss if they even have Indy toys out though.  One had a bit, the other 15 minutes down the road hasn't even reset.  I really have come to hate both Target and Wal-Mart equally at this point.  Target's only consistancy is that they're all inconsistant on putting **** out.

Opening the German Car...  It's really quite nice and it's a vehicle based on a real-world German 4-WD car, kind of like a jeep but not really, used in earlier years of the war.  Not many pictures I've ever seen of these vehicles (there's 2 larger variants of the same vehicle) in Europe, but Italy, North Africa and other campaigns seemingly saw them used heavily.  I saw a picture of one with Russian paint on it somewhere (red star, etc.) as well.

It's surprisingly accurate and the 1:18 military figures fit in really nicely.  It looks large with IJ figures in it though, which are a bit smaller.  They mix well enough but they're noticeably smaller.

I have a guy in it now with goggles on.  Very cool looking...  I have to fix that BFG in the back though.  That's beyond silly looking and needs a scaled MG-34 back there.

For the curious...

The German car is supposed to be either a

http://www.4x4abc.com/bmw/index.html BMW 325 4x4, or it's supposed to be a...

http://www.4x4abc.com/G-Class/g5.html Mercedes Benz G5

The trunk area might be a TAD long on it, however I'm more than willing to overlook that flaw...  It's to accomodate the figure and the lameass action feature, so I can look beyond that.  Shorten up that trunk though and this baby's spot-on.  It just needs painted properly.  I may nab one to cut the convertible top off and build a functional canvas top with canvas doors.  That would rock balls.

One Walmart put out some more stuff today (the other two WM had either nothing or only Taters of the Lost Ark) and had some KOTCS stuff.  They also had the deluxe at only $12.92 rather than the $16.99 they were initially at a different Walmart ??? ::)  I picked up both KOTCS Indy's and the German Motorcycle but still passed on the Indy with horse because the eyes.... :o

I stopped by Target and they finally put out their Indy stuff.  They were stocked pretty well with everything that I could see.  I picked up the ROTLA Adventure Hero sets, so I'm caught up with those.  They also didn't have the Indy w/horse or German w/motorcycle deluxe sets (no one in town has had them so far that I've seen), so I think that's all I'm still looking for from what's out.  They had the Tater there, and I was tempted - but left it for now.  Oh, and these were just in the normal aisle, next to Star Wars (which hasn't been stocked in ages).

Head's up for a $5 off $25 purchase (http://www4.toysrus.com/our/tru/prom/2008wk3test/tresieteuno/921371.cfm) coupon at TRU.  But it's only good today and tomorrow (5/9 & 5/10).

If I were to make a suggestion, I'd give him an extra of Dengar (v2) rifle if you happen to have it.  4-LOM's, at least IIRC, was an MG-42 which puts it out of the time-frame of Raiders.  Just a suggestion if you care about little details like that, DB.  Dengar's is an MG-34...  Which I'm not sure but I think he was to have an MG-42 and maybe 4-LOM was to have the 34 or both had 42's in the movie, but I do believe it was Dengar V2 who came with an MG-34...

The CT Stormtrooper's gun is an MG-34 as well but it clearly blows.  It doesn't have any of the vents on it...  Not to mention it's as flimsy as piece of yarn.
Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Greg on May 11, 2008, 09:49 PM
How are you guys mounting the smaller (MG-42) guns on the troop car? Currently I just have a German (Ususally green shirt 'commando') wielding either an MP-40/Grease Gun w/ extended stock or a Sandtrooper Lewis Gun standing back there, which is more than satisfactory for me, but a mounted gun would be sweet.

Anyways, I picked up a couple of the Motorcycle Nazi("No bike for you!")figures at Wal-Mart today. Awesome figures. Awesome vehicles. Awesome guns. The pistols and MP-40s complement my other Germans very nicely.

Picked up another Ugha Warrior and a Raiders Indy (stumbled on one with a good paint job on its head).

The Warrior is my third, I definitely want at least one more to put around the temple playset when it comes out.

I grabbed the Indy because I want a Raiders Indy that I can dedicate to displaying with the Cargo Truck - right now I have him hanging off of the grill. Looks pretty cool. They did a really great job with the Cargo Truck.
Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Jesse James on May 12, 2008, 02:47 AM
I haven't mounted one totally yet.  I'm thinking I may fudge with some photos and go with a more accurate gun mount to what we see on film and remove the mount on it currently.  I hate the swaying floorboard anyway, so I'm likely going to do a full custom job on at least one...  Actually was gonna try making a functional convertible top for one at some point because it just looks possible if I can find some good fabric in that scale to match it.

Anyway, if I were to just do something quick/simple, I'd just get some epoxy (Devcon plastic welder at Wal-Mart, in a black tube would work) and glue a gun to the turret, and paint the glued on spot black to match.  That'd be the quick/simple way to get it on there without going nutty with it.

As I noted above on the guns, I'm an accuracy stickler so I'd go with the Dengar gun...  Marauder Inc. may be making one though too, as I seem to recall seeing an MG-34 in their list at one point or another.  It's a thought for down the road if they haven't done it yet.  Dengar's MG-34 is pretty spiffy though...  No ammo can or belt of ammo for it, but it's a pretty accurate weapon.  Forces of Valor makes 1:18 military figures at Target and some of them have a VERY nice MG-40 included, and it includes the round ammo drum on the side as well, so that's also an option if total accuracy isn't important.  MG-40's would be a later-model MG though obviously, than when the film itself takes place.

Ah, thanks JJ, I knew your knowledge of WW2 materiel would help!  Yeah, watching Raiders again I noticed the ammo can you mentioned, but for now I'll be content with putting the closest version on there.  As for mounting, I just used one little dab of super glue on the existing mount.  It displays well, as I don't plan on moving it around too much.

No problem DB...

For the curious wanting to do the fixed rear gun, here's the differences between an MG-34 and MG-42 (I think I said 40 above, that's a typo).

MG-42:

(note how the barrel is more squared)

MG-34:

(note the more rounded barrel w/vent holes)

So at this point, how does the Indy stuff seem to be selling in your areas?  I know a lot of us were curious to see how this line will do, and although there will probably be a push once the movie is released next week - how has it looked so far?  I noticed here locally, things seem to have sold pretty well.  Deluxe figures definitely seem to be the hottest, but the basic figures are starting to dwindle as well.  I don't think I've seen any vehicles since the first day, and the Adventure Heroes seem to be picking up a little bit more now too (although there still seems to be plenty - but I haven't looked which ones are left specifically recently).
Title: Re: Recent Purchases

On May 2nd Target stocked up on the first half of the Deluxe and the RotLA single carded figures.  They also had Adventure Heroes, $20 vehicles, 12," RP Whip and Potato Head.

They sold out of the Deluxe, vehicles and 12" on that first day.  The single carded figs were hit for about half of the stock while the Adventure Heroes, PH and Whip didn't sell much, if any.

Since then they've restocked the single carded figures and added KotCS, restocked the first half of the Deluxe, the 12" and the vehicles.

WM didn't have any stock on 5/2.  They added single carded figures, deluxe, AH, vehicles and whip on the 3rd some time.  They sold through the vehicles and deluxe and haven't restocked.  They had both RotLA and KotCS single carded figures and sold most of them with all 4 Indy figs and 2 Mutt figures being the most available.  One or two of a Belloq or Sallah and that's about it.  They have not restocked them.

I don't think they've moved very many AH, if any at all, and they may have sold a couple RP Whips.

I haven't paid much attention to the Lego sets but I know my Target sold through a lot of them as did WM who jumped the gun by a couple of days on an aisle display of them that they later pulled.

I haven't really seen anyone looking at the figures and I know one guy in town that bought a bunch of stuff on day 1, other than that I can't really tell if anyone else is buying these or not.  While there's not a ton of stock right now, it's mostly due to the fact that WM hasn't restocked at all and Target hasn't restocked heavily.  And my Target still hasn't received the second half of the initial Deluxe releases (Indy/Horse, motorcycle, etc).

Well, I hit WM and TRU over lunch today and both had restocked with Indy stuff.  They both had the Indy w/Horse and German w/Motorcycle sets, so I was able to cross those off the list.  I was tempted to pick up one of the trap sets, since the Indys looked pretty decent face/paint-wise, but I left them for now.  Also, WM just has a ton of everything in this line - except for vehicles.  Deluxe pegs were packed full of the aforementioned sets, the basic pegs were full and the shelf below them was full of basic figs as well.  The Adventure Heroes and 12" were in good supply as well.

So, so up north.  TRU bought in seriously with lots of single cards, deluxe, vehicles, whips, spuds, etc.  They've sold quite well from what I can tell, but that might just be a consequence of no one else really caring.  Walmart has been pretty sparse really and I'm hoping that's because they were waiting for the movie to come out but I doubt it because they really didn't do much with Iron Man.  A little more, but not much.  I think they're just cool to movie toys now (smart, but unfortunate in this case).  Still, what they've had has sold well, except the whips.

The other retailer, Zellers (poor man's Target) is completely hit and miss.  I've been to four of six stores locally and only one put anything of substance out and only middle of this week.  So with them I'm hoping it's still just a lag before the movie comes out.

I'm pretty much at the point where I've purchased what I wanted thus far from the first couple of waves.  I'd still like to find an Indy/horse with good eyes on the Indy.  I bought the KOTCS Indy's on the single card and left the rest of the wave until after seeing the movie.  Picked up the deluxe I wanted, returned those I didn't. Mostly wanting the stuff that duplicates vintage stuff and the ToD/Grail stuff.  So I've bought:

___ Indiana Jones (Jacket/Hovitos Temple)
___ Indiana Jones (Open Shirt/Cairo)
___ Monkey Man
___ Cairo Swordsman
___ Indiana Jones (Shirt/Bazooka)
___ Indiana Jones (Jacket/KotCS)
___ Indiana Jones (Map Room) with Ark
___ Marion Ravenwood and Cairo Henchman
___ German Soldiers
___ German Soldier with Motorcycle

So just waiting on a decently painted Indy/horse.  Need to get Belloq/Sallah for the regular collection.  Contemplating Marion and German soldier for the artifacts (loser).  Humming and hawing on the vehicles.  They look great, but I don't really need them and not sure I want them.

went to my trusty ol local WM (the same one in which i have bought just about every indy toy i have save for the german2k) and low and behold what do I find? a new display filled with Indy toys, including vehicles (at WM :o) for $25. Strangely they had a ton of Indy figures with many of them being the new "elusive KOTCS" indy with jacket and rocket. as much as I keep telling myself to stop buying these figures so I can save up for the new MF and At-te i found myself picking up 1 german soldier. So now I have all the German soldiers. 3 more stickers and I can send out my mail away form. good thing there are no more SW figures coming out from now till july 26..

Editing rather than double posting.

I went to TRU today but their selection was pitiful. All they had was one shelf and 6 pegs on an endcap dedicated to Indy merchandise. Basically their figure selection consisted of both KOTCS Indies, Irina, and Belloq. I picked up Jacketed Indy, Irina, and Belloq. Went to a WM nearby and picked up Raiders Indy, German Soldier, Indy with Horse, and the German Soldier 2-pack.

I hit TRU today to check what they had, and they must have had a big restocking since Monday as all the pegs (basic, deluxe, Adventure Heroes) were packed full.  I grabbed the jacketless Mutt Williams, the basic carded German Soldier (two of the three basic carded figures I hadn't grabbed yet), and then saw a decently painted ROTLA Indy (w/Jacket) that I grabbed for the "freebie".  The only basic carded figure I think I've skipped so far now is the Marion, but I'm tempted just to get the darn Staff of Ra headpiece that comes with her.

Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Jesse James on May 22, 2008, 02:47 AM
I gotta say, not one of those figures disappoints, especially the Cemetary Warrior and Russians...

Tonight I nabbed a 2nd Russian soldier and the Cemetary Warrior, and the Cemetary Warrior is pretty weird.  First I noticed his skull mask is not a sculpted-on piece.  It's separate, and glued to his face.  I pried at it a little with my pocket knife and could see that he indeed has a full face sculpt underneath the skull mask...  Why?  Why wouldn't they just sculpt the mask to the face rather than going through the extra tooling of the piece itself, and the extra labor to glue the piece to the face?  It sounds small, but it ultimately was a very unnecessary step unless there's some other plan for this figure?

The other thing, along the same lines as the above, is that he has a separately sculpted shirt...  Why?  Prying up on the shirt a bit to see, and ultimately he does have a sculpted body underneath with lots of detail it seems.  You can't take the shirt off though and have him look normal, due to the arms, but the shirt is a separate piece for no really explainable reason.  Why sculpt it and put it on over another torso?  It adds a cost of tooling the shirt to go over the body when you could've just sculpted the shirt as the torso itself.  Why?  Unless there's plans to use the body underneath at some point for something else?

Anyway, I found this figure INSANELY cool even without seeing the film.  As a customizer, it's excellent Star Wars fodder, and as an action figure in general is is simply outstanding.  Super articulated, lots of detail, nice painting, a couple neat accessories (a knife woulda been cool as the pic on the back he has a knife), and really just a great figure.

The Russian, as always, is a great figure, and it's being gobbled up by a whole other set of collectors, so if you see it I suggest nabbing one if you want it.

-Jungle Cutter

The Crystal Skull stuff is pretty cool, and I cannot wait to pick up a few more figures (Spalko, Indys, Mutt, maybe a couple of Ugha Warriors)

Target has Indy stuff on sale this week.  Figures are 6.74, vehicles are 17.99 and deluxes are 8.99.  The Adventure Heroes and role playing toys are also on sale.  I believe that if you bought any of the stuff at regular price within the last 30 days and still have your receipt, Target will give you the sale price.  I'm going there later to find out for certain.  I'll get about ten dollars back.

12" figs are $16.99, too.  :)

I bought my first Indy figures today - all of the KOTCS basic figs and the three 2-packs.  Not sure if I'll keep them or just use them for our Database yet.  I'm still not 100% keen on them, but opening them could change my mind.

They're pretty decent really John, and if you find a good Indy paintjob, then both the CS and Raiders Indy's are nice.

The deluxe Indy's are basically pointless unless you want the traps, which are pretty decent toys/micro playsets.  The Indy w/Horse is worth every penny though, just the two trap ones are weak figures overall.  The Crystal Skull Indy's hat isn't as big in person as it is in pictures either, so I wish Raiders had a removable hat too.  Oh well.
Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Diddly on May 28, 2008, 02:42 AM
I personally feel the KOTCS Jacketed Indy is THE best figure of the line... mainly due to the nonworking holster. It doesn't make the jacket "poof out" like on the Raiders Indy, and you can move the belt around where the whip holder doesn't interfere with the satchel. It's too bad both Indys are hard to find, as I'd like to pick up another version of each and switch the belts on them so I'll have a perfect Raiders Indy.

I also agree with Jesse on the Indy heads. I wish they'd used the KOTCS head on each Indy, because not only does it look like Harrison Ford, it could double as an old and a young Indy... all they'd have to do is paint the hair brown instead of gray.

Picked up a bunch of trooper builders today at Target since they were on sale, plus I used a couple of the $5 off coupons...

2x German Soldier Deluxe 2-pack
2x German Solider Single Packs
3x Ugha Warriors

I'm up to the following army builder wise

6x German Soldier
3x German Soldier Dark Green from Deluxe
3x German Soldier w/Variant Head from Deluxe
4x Russian Soldier
6x Ugha Warriors - gonna put the brakes on these now, I'm sure we'll eventually get a variant with a different body color and new head
3x Cemetary Warriors - not going to get any more of those since there were only three in the movie

I think I might get another pair of Russian Soldiers and at least one more German Soldier 2-pack and that will be it for the army builders that are out now.

Won't really be army building any Indy figures now until the Thugee Guard figure and the Cairo Henchmen deluxe 2-pack comes out.

Picked up the following figures, just to finish off my seventh Crystal Skeleton Mail-away certificate:

Sallah (so I can permanently put one in my Well of Souls playset - he's now in there with my extra RotLA jacketed Indy)
Indiana Jones (Jacket, KotCS)
Mutt Williams (Jacket & Sword)
Irina Spalko

I have a two peg stand that I've set up Irina and Mutt having a duel with. It looks pretty good.

Like I said, I picked these up for the stickers, but the other reason is that if they ever release the Duck/Seep vehicle, I'll get two of those and use those three KotCS figures along with a pair of Russian Soldiers to make a mini display from the chase scene in the movie.

So I think all I have left that I want to buy is one more Temple Pitfall Set. I want to use the snakes in my Well of Souls playset and I'll take the Indy to put hanging off of the grill of the Cargo Truck. I'm going to give the tree/pit piece to a co-worker of mine who picked up a regular Indy figure and let me have the sticker for one of my Crystal Skeleton certificates.  ;D

Looks like wicked herpes outbreak to me!  Yikes.  Good thing he didn't kiss this Jones girl.

In other Spalko news...

For you guys with them, and maybe curious what you could use them for, I hear her legs fit perfectly, and match the color perfectly, of the Lt. Shann from the comic 2-pack.  Likewise, her head fits Lt. Shann (or Juno Eclipse) perfect as well.  Her grey poofy pants look much more Imperial, and on Lt. Shann they make a very cool looking female Imp. Officer.

I've not done this yet, but I hear it's simply a matter of boiling, popping, and repopping the pieces together.  As simple as it gets and it yields a unique figure for your shelves.

(Also Marion's head and hands fit the Juno Eclipse/Lt. Shann body perfectly as well, making yet another female character that works, and we all may have extra Marions)

I have followed this rule as well - it's a great rule to live by. Sure you might see the figure again, but ALWAYS grab yourself the "sure thing" if it's there in front of you. This has helped me MANY times with Star Wars figures - Ephant Mon, the first release of the McQuarrie Stormtrooper and entire POTF2 EU wave of figures. Those are all figures I only saw at retail ONCE.

Since I hadn't found anything from the TLC Wave of figures here in the Twin Cities; I went on line and won the Elsa & Vogle that I hadn't found yet. I was lucky to pick up the 2 Indy's from that wave around July 4th in Chicago, and picked up the Grail Knight from my comic place, and a guy here in town had come across a Henry Sr and grabed that for me. So now I am done with that wave.

My WM got in a restock on Indy figures, unfortunately it was that miserable case pack with just the three new Wave 3 figures and all wave 1 & 2 repacks.  The store filled up a big side of one of the cube aisle displays.  Terrible.

I did pick up the Last Crusade Indy, though, which was the only W3 figure I needed.

I guess I'll send off for another Crystal Skeleton.

Just got notification from BBTS that my TOD set came in. I ended up paying nearly 2x Target/Wal-Mart price for these figures, but since I have yet to see anything other than Indy with Machine gun, and Young Indy from the TLC wave 3 I figured this was my only hope for these figures.

I ordered from Toyrocket...hopefully they will be shipping soon as well.  When you add in the price of gas, running around trying to find these, it all evens out in the end i think.  Plus, I don't have to stress out about finding them now...the TLC wave was a @#$% to track down and I really just got lucky on a few of them.

Got my Fabric Canopy Truck and Mutt w/Motorcycle from Hasbro Toy Shop today.

Nice to finally have the Mutt w/Motorcycle figure. This should have been how Mutt was released from the beginning - just remove the head with the glasses and put on a regular head - skip releasing him carded entirely.

I received Elsa and Vogel via HTS over the weekend, so if the ToD wave is indeed the last we see of the line, I'm all caught up and complete now.  I think the sting of this line's early demise is even worse because it appears these last two waves (TLC and ToD) are quite a bit better quality overall than the first two.  Its still disappointing that things are ending, and hopefully Hasbro figures out a wave to get another wave or two out there - but it was a pretty nice run with a wave from each film, and I'm glad to have them.

It wouldn't be hard to have improved on it to actually make it look appropriate for the bike...  I guess the dude that did that didn't feel like going the extra mile to pick up some paint. ;)

Seriously though, if you got a 2nd bike, to hack up a bit and use some of its parts/detail bits on the PTE sidecar from Marauder Inc., it can work.  I've seen someone do that same custom but put time into working out the details and stuff so it looks authentic.  It's quite nice when you go all the way with the project, and the sidecar's cheap too, which is a bonus.

German bikes actually more often than not did have the sidecar on them, or so I've heard...  Rare for them not to I guess.(?)

Yeah. It simply invites the floodgates to open on TLC cases. But, I figure, it's $8-9 at retail anyway, plus this way I don't have to look for it anymore, since I've been hunting for this wave since early July. With my TOD case arriving any day I figured I can return the 6 useless Indy & Mutts that take half the case up in favor of guys I passed on. I will have to figure out the other 4 characters I am going to buy to retun all of the crap I do not need.

All of the Cario dudes can make great G.I.Joe Taliban villains maybe I will army build with them....

I got the TOD case last night - WOW.
This line is sure ending on a high note as the six new figures are truly the best in the line! I even lucked out and got perfect paint jobs/figures on all of them. It's a real shame they did not case pack two of every figure this wave could have helped save the line.

Anyone waiting on buying this case where they can should not wait, it's truly worth it. I plan on buying some figures I passed on then exchanging the extras from this case in their place so it's makes buying it less painless.

GO FOR IT!

I've been playing catch up on the line as I just now decided to get in on it while it is still around at retail. One of the local Wal-Marts has basic figures marked down to $5.44, which really isn't a bad deal.

Yesterday I picked up:

Sallah
Belloq
Cairo Swordsman
Deluxe Indy with the Ark of the Covenant

I may end up biting on the TOD wave case from EE as well. The crappy case ratio is the only thing holding me back. And Hasbro really wouldn't have done anything differently? ::)

I buy every carded SW figure (except repacks) that comes out.  Sure there's a figure here and there that doesn't interest me.  But I know that if I support figures like Mon Mothma and Sio Bibble, Hasbro will make figures like Bo Shek or Woislea.  I understand finacial limitations, but it's no wonder Hasbro started shipping full Indy cases when people were not buying Marion and other secondary characters.

Now, the motorcycle that Indy's riding in those pics is just an unladen German Trooper motorcycle with the Marauders sidecare attached, right?  That's not the actual cycle you get from Marauders, is it?

No, it's not. The cycle from Marauder is smaller and less ornate.

Rather than buying another Hasbro cycle and customizing the Marauder sidecar to fit that, I just display it the way it came from Marauder.

I really wish they hadn't dropped this line. I was one of those on the fence guys but only due to funds and I figured since there was a glut in the SW line Hasbro would eventually do the same here. I'm short 3 figures with the exception of wave 4. I still haven't picked up a Marion because I'd seen her everywhere and I need an Elsa and Grail Knight to round out what I'm after. Of course I'm after the single card Marion to get the artifact. That will change if wave 4 shows up. EE still has it up for sale but it sounds like Hasbro might cancel orders for it. Hasbro can say all they want about a movie year for support. If you put ads on TV for Saturday mornings kids will want it if it's cool enough. I think Hasbro just want's lines they can carrier that carry themselves with no TV ad marketing. Sure there are exceptions but their logic is flawed all around IMO.

Sure, that would be great in a perfect world if that was realistic. It takes money to make money though and if they had no intention of promoting the line then it doesn't make sense to waste the up front investment on design and tooling. Ultimately it's just a collector point of view thinking Hasbro wasted their time with this line since they were resting on the newest movie solely to carry it. That just seem shortsighted to me.

On another note, I just picked up a grail knight last night. So I'm down to Vogel and Elsa I need along with the TOD wave.

Wally is usually a joke here too, but I guess they lost it on IJ.

Has there been any one chain where the ToD figures seem to be showing up? I'm pretty much done with SW for the year so if I hit a store now it's going to be to see if by some miracle they have ToD figures.

A friend of mine said he read somewhere that Toys R Us was getting them in, but the TRU near me hasn't gotten a single new Indy figure in a while. They keep getting more vehicles and Akator playsets, but not individually carded figures.

I noticed that in Target all of the Indy stuff EXCEPT the individually carded figures all have DPCI tags that sport "NCF" before the item description - is this an indicator that the Target computer knows that more figures are still working their way through distribution?

My local WMs are clogged with stuff, but none of it is anything besides the first two waves.

WM had most of the temple of doom figures though, only ones they were missing was short round and the thug then again I didnt really look though, they had tons of figures from wave 3 and 4 though. all on CDN card. also saw a ton of dlx sets although no germans or thug two packs left and the others didnt interests me. vehicles were all gone except for 1 tree cutter.

Do you guys think EE is going to get more to fulfill the orders they're taking? My fear is that I'm going to get an e-mail from them at some point indicating that they weren't allocated enough and that my order has been cancelled.

Depends on how much Hasbro made. One would hope that EE is being smart about how much they can order.  The TOD wave was well into production when the standard retailers decided to drop the line, so there should be a decent quantity to be had.

I picked up the 12" Mutt and whip action Indy from SmallJoes.com, they were running a 50% off sale on them.  The figures are really kind of terrible overall but some of the accessories are nice.  Mutt's head sculpt is pretty well done.

I mainly got them to snag the accessories away from the Indy for a kitbash I'm working on, and I'll probably move Mutt's head to a better Hasbro body eventually.  Also now have enough coupons to send for another Ark.

Anyone spots the 12" Mutt w/ leather jacket on a shelf somewhere, I'm looking for that one also if you can help me out.

If anyone is on the fence, I'd order.  I ordered last month and got my case a week ago.  With Target clearing these out and Wally World overloaded on pegwarmers, there's really no other option.  I'm glad I did it.  I originally ordered a set from HTS, with a bitching coupon, and that was stolen.  For real.  The post office is still researching  ::)  but HTS gave me my money back.

Nice scores...  I'd like to line up some figures actually for customizing.  I'm hoping to get an RPG Indy or Deluxe Ark Indy and a regular Indy to do a Cairo Indy w/out jacket that's decent.  In general though, I'd love to have jsut about every figure from the line extra in some form for customs...  Especially that guy with the skull mask.  That's maybe the coolest fodder figure in the Indy line.

I scored a Snake Mutt, Cemetery Warrior, and Russian for $3.80 each at Target then turned right back around and returned my extra Indy's from the TOD case I ordered using the receipt. Whoever thought of that is a GENIUS.

I also saw the soft top Cargo Truck. Would have snagged it and some Battle Packs if they were on sale.

Picked up another TLC Indy and Henry Jones, Sr. so I could make the boil-and-pop custom of Indy in a suit. Sorry, I can't give credit to the person whose post I saw this in, but thanks for the idea! It was REALLY easy and it looks really good.

I also picked up another Indy w/Ark deluxe hoping to do the head-swap with a spare Indy & Temple Swing figure, but the heads don't match. I thought the heads were compatible between the three deluxe figures. I guess it's just Ark Indy and Temple Trap Indy? I'm going to pop the head off my Temple Trap Indy to be sure, before I spend $9 on another Temple Trap set. I would like to make that easy custom Cairo Indy figure at some point.

I think I might go score a couple more Cairo Thug 2-packs - one of my local WMs is loaded with them.

After that, I think I'll finally put this line to rest, there's really nothing else I would need until they hopefully fire it up again for a fifth Indy movie.  :-\

Took advantage of the Target clearance today and filled the last few holes in the Indy basic figure collection. Bought Fertility Idol Indy, Hangar 51 Indy, Mutt w/Snake, and another Cemetary Warrior at $4.18 each.

Once the ToD wave I'm buying from Morgbug arrives I'll have every figure in the Indy line. Very cool, but kinda sad at the same time considering the line's dead. At least until Indy V that is. :'(

All that's left now for me is the second wave of Muggs, the EE exclusive Muggs, and possibly the Titanium Series....

Adventure Heroes Grail Knight & Vogel x 2

Cloth canopy Cargo Truck (all vehicles $12.99)
Jungle Cutter

Deluxe Indy & Ark (all Deluxes $6.99)
Deluxe Indy & Horse
Deluxe Indy Pitfall Trap
Deluxe Cairo Thugs
Deluxe Mutt with Cycle

Basic Vogel x 2 (all basic figs $3.99 each) (for trades)
Basic Elsa (for trades)
Basic RPG Indy (for customizing)

Went to WalMart tonight to get some soda and other items. I stopped by the toy aisle of course and found a treasure trove of clearanced IJ figures!

I picked up: Cairo Swordsman, Monkey Man, Elsa Schneider, Colonel Vogel, TLC Indy and Grail Knight all for $3 and I also grabbed a Cairo Thugs 2-pack for $7.  ;D

Since this purchase netted me six more stickers, I'm going to get my butt over to the post office tomorow morning and send out one more Crystal Skeleton certificate, bringing my grand total on those up to 12. How many were in the chamber at the end of the movie, 12 or 13?

I'd love a Cairo Thugs 2-pack, but unfortunately there aren't any here.  :(  Was hoping to make some "bad guys" for my modern military figures to basically shoot at.  They're looking lonely on the shelf here.   :-\

I did, however, get about $70 worth of fodder tonight...

I would love to find that 2-pack and Cemetary Warriors, and some Russians...  Unfortunately though, those aren't common here.  They're all great fodder, and none around.  Also not many TLC figures at all here...  Wouldn't mind finding some of those too.

I picked up a Cairo Thugs two-pack for sale/trade the other day at TJ Maxx.  You're welcome to it, JJ.  Let me know.  Also have an Elsa and two Vogels that are up for sale/trade (and are going back to Target by January 9 if nobody wants them).  Again, let me know and they're yours.

Took advantage of the Walmart clearance today.  Finally picked up a bunch of Crystal Skull garbage that I'd been refusing to buy at full price.

Spalko
Mutt Shirt
Mutt Jacket
Ugha Warrior
German Soldier

Deluxe German w/motorcycle ~ $7

Still need the Dovchenko, Russian Soldier, Cemetery Warrior, and Indy Jacket from the Crystal Skull wave.

Hey Jesse - want to hear something really cool?

The heads from the Monkey Man, Cairo Swordsman and the Cairo Thugs (of course) are all inter-changeable.

So to add some variety to my Cairo Street "scene" which includes the vintage cart & fruit stand, I have the Monkey Man head on a Cairo Thug body (since some of the Cairo Thugs didn't have face coverings). I've got a thug in all black and red with his face covered. I've got a tan Cairo Thug w/black headdress but his face exposed and I have a Cairo Thug with his face fully covered wearing a lovely purple & tan number.

I know these head swaps aren't anywhere near movie accurate, but for $13 tonight I added four more "bad guys" to my little display.

I'm tempted to go out and see if I can score more Cairo Thug 2-packs and Cairo Swordsman figures so I can make the head swaps that way and give the main Cairo Swordsman his own little squad of faceless backup warriors.

For me it all just depends on how long the Walmart clearance prices hold and the stock remains in the stores.

Got another German Motorcycle yesterday, my third, at Wal-Mart for $7. Clearance has been kind to me as I estimate I've paid full retail for only about 25 percent of my collection.
I'd love to see some of those head swaps on the Cairo folk, Pete. Wish I'd known about that a little bit before the deadline, however, I haven't seen any Cairo Thugs in a while, so it'd probably been a bear trying to get another certificate's worth outta them.

I hit my local WM yesterday and found that they'd discounted the Indy line.  They also pulled some Deluxe sets out of the back, where they've been for 4 months or more, and I snagged another German w/ motorcycle and both Indy w/ trap sets.  I had been waiting on the trap sets but glad to add them.  $7 each.

And today my stalking of TJ Maxx paid off, I found the truck with cloth top for $12.99.  They had the figures earlier in the week but no vehicles...wasn't sure if I'd find them but did.  Also picked up a couple Dark Knight figures for $5.99 each so it was a good trip.

Picked up an Indy w/ temple trap at K-Mart, where this stuff is also on clearance. $8 for Deluxe, $5 for Adventure Heroes, and $4 for figures.

Shockingly, one of my local WMs blew through ALL their basic figures at $3. I was stunned, especially since I was looking for a really cheap RPG Indy so I could make the German disguised Indy. Guess I'll have to go to the other WM across ton to get that one.

I noticed all the Indy stuff was on clearance at our local WM as well, for basically the same prices people have been mentioning ($3 basics, $7 deluxe, etc.).  I was debating if there were any extra singles I wanted to pick up for $3, that German uniform Indy idea isn't a bad one.  Our store seemed to primarily have waves 1 and 2, as well as a few Young Indys.

Title: Re: Recent Purchases

Pamida (http://www.pamida.com/locator/index.asp) is primarily found in the upper midwest as far as I know.  I worked at a store during college, at which time I think they were bought out by Shopko (but still maintained the same name).  They are basically a smaller scale department store, and they usually have higher prices on everything (again, like Shopko).  But, like this example here, they sometimes tend to have some harder to find items.  I remember finding all of the commtech POTF2 figures there at a time when they were near impossible to find at retail elsewhere (which changed later).  I know a friend of mine and I picked up several commtech R2-D2s back before they had shown up and were blown out at TRU for $2 each.

Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Jesse James on April 1, 2009, 02:27 AM
It's fixable, but could take some work...

If you find a plastic welder (PLast-struct plastic welder is my suggestion) at a hobby shop, you could fuse the two parts of the pin together.  They're a styrene type plastic and fuse using those plastic welders.  The key is getting the pin out of the thigh...

Let it sit a good 48 hours to set, and it should be sturdy and a solid piece of plastic again (the welder actually liquifies the plastic and the two halves should fuse together in a "welded" single piece).

I know it sounds like a lotta work, and it can be a pain in the ass for sure, but considering the figure...  thought maybe you'd be interested in giving it a try.

Also it shouldn't melt the plastic of the leg itself so there SHOULDN'T be any worries there of it fusing to the pin or something.  It doesn't work on PVC type plastics that I've ever encountered.
Title: Re: Recent Purchases
Post by: Ben on April 1, 2009, 03:05 AM
****. I already superglued the leg. But considering the past disasters I've had when trying to do surgery on plastic toys, I probably kept the damage to a minimum with that.

Thanks for the info, though.  :)
