Vintage Kenner / Repro weapons. Any good???
« on: June 19, 2003, 06:19 PM »
I've recently seen some reproduction weapons for vintage figures on ebay.  How close are these to the original weapons?  Did they make them in the same color as the originals or where they odd colors like the GI Joe reproduction weapons were?  Where else can you get them besides ebay?

Thanks for your help,

I've read only Timothy Zahn's Trilogy and Shadows of the Empire.  I really enjoyed all 4 books.  I'm always looking for a list of Star Wars books so I can read them in order.  Anyone know of the order it all supposedly takes place in?

Thanks,

I have to say that the best characters in the movie are Obi-Wan and Palpatine.  I just like the fact that we get to see more background and depth to these characters than we did with the original characters.  I like Anakin too, I just didn't like the actor that played him in Attack of the Clones, and I didn't like the way Lucas gets Amidala to fall for him.  It just didn't make alot of sence(did I spell that right?).

Star Wars is partially inspired by Flash Gordon

Are you talking about the Flash Gordon movie or the earlier comics?  Because my copy of Flash Gordon the movie says 1978, while the original Star Wars was made in 1977.

I thought the deathsticks scene was great!  It was the best laugh of the whole movie.  It reminded me of some of the humor Han Solo brings to the original trilogy.

I don't think Hasbro should make a figure of that character though.   I think they make too many of the pointless people anyways.

I think both my favorite scenes come from Attack of the Clones.

I love the part where Obi-wan gets the death stick seller to go home and rethink his life.

Yoda limping into the Hangar, opening his cloak, and drawing his lightsaber to his hand.  Then after saving Obi-Wan and Anakin, he simply limps over to them.

The Jengo Fett/Obi-wan battle was great too.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jar Jar Binks
« on: June 18, 2003, 03:23 PM »
I just hate the fact that in Attack of the Clones, Senator Amidala leaves him to vote against an army of the republic being formed.   Then he's stupid enough to fall for one blatently obvious attempt to persuade him to bring up the issue in the first place!

Either Amidala thinks Jar Jar Binks is smart, or she's just as stupid as he is.  Which may be why she falls for Anikin in the first place.  How do you fall in love with a whiny, slaughterer of woman and children, bad acting looser?  Oh, it was written into her script!  ::)

Oh, Jar Jar does stink!  Most of the people who said he could have been a lot better if they'd just have changed a few things, are completely right.  But don't worry, 10 years from now Lucas will re-release the films with new lines and acting for Jar Jar and all will be ok.

Just my humble, yet correct opinion ;)

Power of the Force 2 / What are these figs and vehicles worth??
« on: June 18, 2003, 12:05 PM »
In 1995 I started buying the POFT2 figs and vehicles.  I've got about every figure between then and 1998.  I also have the AT-AT, AT-ST, Falcon, Tie Fighter, Darth Vader's Tie Fighter, snow speeder, X-wing, land speeder.
My figs are all loose with all their accessories.  The vehicles are loose and complete, but most have their boxes.

I'm collecting vintage figs, and would like to know what I could expect to get in trade value for the POTF2 figs when trading for Vintage ones.

I've never seen a price guide and I don't want too!  Should I expect to trade 2 to 1, 1 to 1, 3 to 1?  Thanks for any help.

I'd have to go with the AT-AT too.  I didn't have one when they originally came out, so it has always been the Gran-dady of all toys to me.  I picked one up the second I found it in a Toys R Us. I thought the Falcon was really cool too.  Third would probably be Darth Vader's Tie Fighter.  I had to have one, Vader is the best!

Collections / Updated. GI Joe and Vintage Star Wars pic(New)
« on: June 16, 2003, 01:50 PM »
Here's a link to my website.  You can see my GI Joe collection by clicking on the Storm Shadow picture.  The Star Wars collection is under construction and should be up in a couple days.  It won't be much though, most of my stuff is boxed away in storage, except my POTF2 vehicles, my vintage figs, and my 12" Vader.

Only the Joe collection is up though....

2 more figs off the list!  Updated both trade and want list.

My thoughts.

I've recently re-watched the special editions.  I think if I was going to make a set of Star Wars movies I would take the original New Hope, the updated Empire Strikes Back, and the original Return of the Jedi.  Here's why:

New Hope:  Lucas improved on alot of stuff, but like it's already been pointed out, the Greedo death scene ruined the experience.  Everything else was great!  From Han chasing the Storm troopers into a room filled with Storm troopers and having to retreat, to the new Death Star Explosion.  However, because of that one Greedo scene I'll stick with the original New Hope.

Empire Strikes Back:  The whole movie was great.  The added creature footage (the eating of the tonton), the windows in Cloud City.  It was all good, and I don't remember anything being taken out.  I didn't like the Luke scream either, but it didn't kill the movie.

Return of the Jedi:  HATED THIS VERSION!!!!  I can't stand the fact that Lucas tore out original scenes in Jabas palace and inserted completely new characters.  The new band singer sucked.  I didn't like the Boba Fett flirting either.  Unlike alot of people, I hated the end celebration.  I liked the original ending, didn't think they needed to flash to every major planet and show celebrations.  I could throw this movie out and wouldn't even miss it!

Just my humble, yet correct, opinion ;)
