Newbies / Re: Hello everybody!
« on: June 30, 2007, 03:36 AM »
Hey Gene (not Gene Simmons), a belated welcome to JD to ya'.  I can't customize for crap, but am most envious of all you talented folks who can.  We've got a great customizing group here, so I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself in there, as well as the rest of the boards.  So kick up your feet, relax, and have fun!  Looking forward to chatting with you around the boards here.

- Matt

P.S.  I definitely hates me some cabbage too!  :-X

I'm always late, dammit!  Sorry Tom.  Hope you had a great birthday though.  You deserve it, buddy.  8)

I'm going to be on time for this one though, as yet another JD'er hits the big 3-0 this month:

Happy Birthday to the artist formerly known as mosnab, one of the nicest guys you'll ever see 'round the boards.  Hope you have a super 30th Brian, and that you don't go downhill nearly as fast as I did when I hit that age...  :P

Enjoy.

Other Collectibles / Re: CIV Medallions
« on: June 29, 2007, 08:50 PM »
Oh, you lucky bastard, Daniel!!  Man, that's a beautiful set.  Most envious I am...  I assume we're not allowed to ask how much it set you back, right?  :-X

I was at CIV and tried to get into a couple panels, but folks weren't coming out of them when they let out each time, so even if you were near the front of the line for the next panel, you still weren't even guaranteed to get a spot in the 300 seat room.  I was pretty bummed, so I just threw in the towel on even bothering to try to get any of those medallions.  My only real regret for the convention.

Great addition to your collection though, for sure.  Congrats!

(p.s.  LMK if you ever wanna sell the set for cheap!  ;))

Congrats, J2!  Glad to hear everyone's doing well.  Good luck with the new and improved Wall family...

Is your older daughter flipping the bird?  Nice...

Exactly what I was about to point out.  Wow, what a little rebel you've got there...  8)

Kubricks / Re: Series 8
« on: June 25, 2007, 04:25 AM »
Thanks for all the news Simon!

As for Medicom finally delving into the Prequels here, I guess it's the dreaded news we've all been hoping never to hear, but fully expected to at some point.  I'm obviously disappointed that this probably means the OT is going to be taking a serious back seat for a while.  In all likelihood, I'm going to pass on the Prequel Kubricks altogether.  I'm already at wit's end with all the crazy carded stuff and high-priced chases these days, and these Prequel figures are probably going to push me over the edge and make me seriously alter my collecting habits with Kubricks.

I may just go with OT movie figures from now on, and forget all this Shadowtrooper and Uzay stuff.  It's really starting to stretch the line too thin, IMO.  It was fun to have the Droids R2 and Fett in there, and the 3PO, but I think that was enough for now.  I'm all about the OT, so if Medicom is moving away from that trilogy now, it's just gonna mean more money in my pocket to spend elsewhere, I guess.

Sure, the Prequel Kubricks will probably look just as cool as the OT ones, but they just don't do much for me.  I'm sure once I see them, I'll be tempted to cave in.  But I think ultimately I'll be able to hold out on this stuff and wait for the OT stuff to show up again at some point down the line (hopefully).  Otherwise, I guess I can finally focus on catching up on some of the chases I'm still missing...

Gotta agree with the guesses in here that it looks like Jar Jar's probably gonna be a chase.  Ugh.

I found 5 (Order 66) sets that rang up $0 today.

They gave them to me for $1.24 each.

Rob, did they price check them to come up with $1.24, or did you suggest that price?  I ask, 'cause I've seen a few leftover sets at $0, and just tell the cashiers the final $2.48 clearance price that they were at last week, and that's what they charge me.  But if they somehow went even lower than the 75% off, I'd probably suggest they price check them for me from now on.  I've seen 85% - 90% final clearance prices a couple times in the past, but thought it was just a bizarre circumstance.

Found a weird anomaly at one of my Local WM's. Out of the new Legends wave, the Vader, Maul, 3PO and BP's are $3.50. The rest of the figures are full price. ???

That's because all the Legends figures are under the same generic SKU as the TSC figures Anthony.  You'll see the same thing when you buy them at Target, they've got the same DCPI there, so they ring up identical to the TSC figures from last year.  Which of course means, unfortunately, that last year's TSC figures are not going to technically hit clearance at Target for a long time to come (once the Legends line has run it's course).  :-\

Also notable is that the regular 4" Battle Packs (087-06-1707) finally popped back up to full price again, effective last Thursday.  They were still sitting at $4.98 on Wednesday everywhere, but come Friday morning they were all back up to $19.99 everywhere again.  Weird.  Guess this means the newer BPs that we saw at C4 are going to start trickling out soon, hopefully.  Oh well, $4.98 was fun while it lasted!  8)

Dale just hooked me up with a couple of very cool and helpful items that I was searching for, and free of charge no less!  8)  Very generous, and as always, one of the best traders on the net.  Thanks, D!!

Just got the new B-wing and Plo Koons Jedi Starfighter.

You actually found Plo's Fighter/Hyperspace Ring?  I've seen buttloads of this wave at every store in town recently (Target, WM, and TRU), but have never seen the new Hyperspace Ring.  I was starting to suspect that that particular vehicle for whatever reason wasn't shipping in the early assortments of this wave...  Come to think of it, I've only seen a couple B-Wing so far, so there must be some different ratios with this series going around.  V-Wings, snow Turbo Tanks, new Gunships and Jedi Starfighters up the ying-yang 'round these parts.

Target's lagging again with getting some of these newer ships in their system though, as the V-Wing and one of the others still doesn't ring up, for whatever reason.

BTW, I never really chimed in here during or after C4, but the Hasbro fellas felt really bad with where they've taken this line of late, with all the asinine repaints and crap, and begged us to all stick with the line as they'll be getting some all-new sculpts back into the mix soon (but probably not much until early '08).  Hopefully that's the case, 'cause this line is sucking badly this year.

Yikes!  Been a while since I popped in here.  Missed the boss's birthday.  Sorry!  Hope you had a great 20th, Chris.  Just to think, you were like 9 years old when we all first met you.  Wow, how time has flied.  :P

Happy B-day to Nigel too, wherever that bloke may be...  :-\

thanks natacos.

Who are you?

Go whine about your missed birthday to someone who cares, you shriveled up 30 year-old piece of boon**** Tennessee chicken ****.

can we get a "from left to right..." caption on this?  I don't recognize a lot of these

I'm the hot one.  Fred's the short one.  Dale's the old one.  What else do you need to know...?

Anybody know where this Yoda comes from? Custom job?? That's most beautiful life size Yoda I've ever seen.

Ook, I chatted with Shawn about that, and he said it was a custom made maquette by some guy who works/worked at TFAW up at Citiwalk (Things From Another World).  So yeah, definitely a one-of-a-kind type of thing...

Tip from the Hasbro reps at C4:

These WILL be available through Disney's toll free # for orders, and if you place an order and want a complete set of all five, you should tell them that you want an UNOPENED case of the Cantina figures.  There's two of each of the 5 different figures in each case (you'll need to find a friend in need too if you just want one set).  They said if you simply order a set of 5 Band Members, odds are you won't get one of each, since the Disney folks packing the stuff up won't know the difference between the (instruments of the) various Band Members, once they're all opened up.

I don't recall the price right now either though.

Happy 60th Birthday Dale!

60th?  Phhttthh.  Dale's at least 82 by now, I'm sure.  Regardless, hope it was a great one for you, old man!!  Happy belated.  Glad we could do some proper pre-birthday celebrating out here this past week.  Great to finally spend some time with you, and realizing that old age is as bad as it's made out to be...  :P
