Title: mock up prototype 12" stormtrooper?

check out this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=751&item=5904743763&rd=1) auction for a mock up prototype stormtrooper on ebay. any idea what this - is or was supposed to be? kinda looks like the luke/yoda walmart exclusive style packaging, with the clear semi-circular plastic. i didn't hear anything about an exclusive - or even a new stormtrooper of any kind.

 ???

upon looking at it further, it looks like it has the newer style hands, with the articulation on each finger like dooku and imperial officer, and the newer shoulder guards that came with the biker scout. the hands definitely look new, since you can see that the armor has been sculpted on top of them, but the rest of it looks like the old stormtrooper.

anybody??

Don't know diddly about the 12" line, but could this have evolved into the VOTC Stormtrooper?

Don't forget abotu the Vintage 12" Stormtrooper (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/pl/page.headlines/id.1004/dn/default.cfm):

I think, and this is just speculation, but I think that that might be some kind of Episode 3 sneak preview 12" packaging.  I think the 12" vOTC Stormtrooper is being used in the mock-up package, but the little arm on the cardboard cut-out looks like Gen Grievious' arm to me.  

It is definately NOT the vOTC 12" packaging, so maybe, just maybe it's a sneak look at the Ep3 12" packaging?  Anyone else concur?

Well...it does look spot on BUT...the Episode III packaging will be all Vader all the time ;).  Perhaps this will be the Sneak Preview figs though

If this is a mock-up of packaging, then my guess would be that the 12" figures to come would have figure-specific packagaing a la the Unleashed figures.

(That Grievous fits too perfectly to not be his outline, IMO.)

The other thought was that this could be some sort of Clone Wars 12" Figure....

Either something that got canned for the already-run CW series OR maybe something to go with the Clone Wars cartons next Spring?  Sort of the last transition to Ep3.

Maybe Gen Grevious will be all over the sneak preview packaging to introduce him to those who haven't seen the cartoon?

Lots of possibilities...
