Tin Sets (http://jediinsider.com/index.php?catid=8&itemid=10660)
JI has some info about new tins. I broke down and got the original 7 basically just for the tins, I guess I will probably do the same and get these. My guess is there will be 6 all together not just the 3 new ones they are showing.
-
Hasbro showed those at their panel at CE (http://www.rebelscum.com/CE/CEhasbropresentation).
They said then that there was nothing new planned for these sets (figures and tins will just be repacks) and they mentioned that there would only be these three.
From the looks of the new pictures, that seems to still be the case.
While they will be a TRU exclusive in the UK, they were not sure where they would show up in the USA... edit: I see that RS is saying they will be a K-Mart exclusive here in the USA this fall.
-
I have no memory of hearing about these. Oh well.
-
Yeah, Celebration Europe flew under a lot of people's radar since almost none of the sites covered it...
I think RS may have been the only site of the "big 4" that went to the show and these tins full of repacks weren't exactly buzzworthy I guess. :-\
-
Does k-mart even exist anywhere anymore? Certainly none around here.
-
A non-buy, no thanks ::)

Yes, though they are severely reduced they exist. I have 2 in my area. I believe anything sold as Kmart exclusive will likely be available at 'Sears Essentials' stores as well.

-
Super easy pass on these for me, unless I find them dirt cheap on clearance.
-

Actually in the east, KM's still a common name. Around Pittsburgh, and just around me in general, I have 2 within a 15 or 20 minute drive... 3 if you cound the Sears Grand at the mall too which has a toy department very similar to any K-Mart.
Of late, KM's have been getting wave 4 and 5 in actually, but they charge more usually so, like KB toys, they're off your radar till a sale.
I found ROTS figures there first though, as did most people who have KM's near them, long before any other retailer put them out. I think I even posted a story on it on our front page at the time. And the Cantina sets they had languished on the shelves forever till heavy markdowns. Same with their battlepacks like the Jedi Temple Assault.
They were also one of the only stores around me that got the Prequal tins in, in any quantity.
Like I said though, KM's big in the North/East part of the country still, not in the South or West though. Bear in mind though that out here Target's and WM's are usually more spread out as well, in most areas, and thus the competition is not quite what other areas have. I have to drive a minimum 20 minutes to get to any WM, and 40 or so to get to Target.
-
I can think of 5 Kmarts that are still in the STL area, all within a 30 mile radius. At least two of them went under a few years ago, so at one time there were 7-8 within relative driving distance from my house.
Kmart sometimes is where I find figures first; for a new line anyway. I got my first ROTS batch from them about two weeks before the official launch date, found TAC Wave 1 there several weeks before they were anywhere else, and scored my first new GI JOE figures there as well.
I don't spend too much time going out of my way to hit Kmart stores though. They're still overall one of the worst places for me to find anything as they seem to stock their Star Wars stuff only once every few months.
-
Definite pass on all 3 unless they hit a $10 or less clearance.
-
I haven't seen anything in them yet that is of any use to me - thankfully.
-
God, I hope the tins didn't change at least.
-
These are easy passes for me. I passed on the first ones too. Nothing new in these three to get me to bite.
-
I'd consider the one mock-up shown in the convention pic up there, but not the ones reported. Easy pass, but decent idea for the general toy-buying public.
-
I was hoping these wouldn't hit the US. Oh, well. :(
-
I'm game for these as long as the tins are newish, if not then I'm really on the fence.
-
It bugs me that Hasbro is repacking that Zam Wesell. Do they really consider it good enough for 2007? How about a new one, please? >:(

Be thankful that this one is a repack. Otherwise you'd have to pay $35 for it. :P

It looks like Hasbro (http://hasbro.com/starwars/default.cfm?page=news&newsid=1A3B19BE-D56F-E112-4D4CB432461A953C) has confirmed these will hit K-Mart for the Christmas season...
-
There isn't a k-mart within 100 miles of me.
Passing on these will be very very easy. ;D
-
Or, even necessary. :)
KM's still a big player here, but man those are dumb. Most KM's and Sears Grand stores here still have the old tins around.
-
Ughhh! Why? Why?
I can't see these flying off the shelves. I'll probably wait until after the holidays to pick them up.
-
Oh, knowing KM's usual strategy of making sure you know what product they have by tripping and falling on it because it's on the floor, you probably COULD see these flying off the shelves if you were in the store at the right moment... At some point someone's gonna knock them down I'm sure.
-
Big pass for me. Legends threw me over the top so I'm done with this repack crap. Thanks Hasbro ;)
btw - Kmarts in MN are very ghetto
-
It seems that they will be available on the kmart website as well which is helpful for those who dont have any near them. I want them only if the tins are different.
-
I may go for the Empire set.
-
These look... interesting. I might pick up the Attack of the Clones set if the tin artwork is different and because I want Oppo and Zam, but the other sets are definite passes, especially at $25 to $30 apiece.
-
Easiest pass for me that I've seen in a while. I don't think I'd even spend $10.00 on a set of any of these...
-
I'll be passing on these, too.
-
Someone hand me a barf bag.
-
With all the negative reaction, I wonder how well these are going to sell?
-
Consideing my local K-Mart still has an ample supply of the last batch of tins, I'm going to guess these will still be hanging around next Fall. ;)

My local K-Mart has an extensive supply of ROTS Figures still.

Yeah, my TRU still has a number of the tins. Not a shock considering they're priced at $40. ::)

Heh... :D
-
Well, how many collectors shop at Kmart regularly anyway? :) These will probably do just fine with their regular customers... the ROTS Vader case w/ Vader and Obi-Wan seemed to do just fine without our caring about it, as did the Unleashed Bumblebee with bonus comic. And both were about as exciting as the tins.
-
I liked the first offerings in the 30AC Collector Tin line, but these? They're weak. The original tins had something going for them because of the combination of new and/or premium figures that were in that lineup. But these are all just straight reissues which makes them far less attractive. PASS.
-
How much will they go for? Also, has anyone ever notice price discrepancies at Kmart? I go to 2 different K marts, and one has the Concept Chewie for $8.49 and the other for $6.99. Any ideas?

Spot on. You know, these were European exclusives. I wonder if they didn't perform well which is why K-Mart eventually got them.

I think the reason they chose to release some of these sets in the USA is so that they didn't have to listen to the uber-completists bitch about having to go to ebay to track down an EU exclusive... :P

Must... hurt... Uber-completists. ;)
-
Well i see that the tins are the same so i will be passing on these sets. If i do get 1 it will be the oppo set.
-
I suckered myself into picking these up today.
It was really a no-brainer actually, the store I checked had priced them out at $23 each instead of $35 each.
They rang up the correct price at the register, but the gal made the price correction for me because of the price sticker.
So I got all three for $70 - still a rip off of course.
I guess I sorta fall into the evil "uber-completist" category - I really didn't care about them when they were European exclusives, but since they were released here, I felt compelled to pick up at least one set to keep MIB. If Hasbro had never released them here in the US, I would have never even cared about them. (so I hope that means I'm not all that bad) ;D
-
I have to admit, the ROTJ set looks like a decent set, price not withstanding. I would bet that this will be the first one to go.

Well holy crap! Looks who's decided to grace us with his presence again after disappearing for a year and a half! :P Welcome back, Pete!

Oddly enough, this is the one I've been seeing the most of at the couple K-marts I've hit the past couple weeks. Found some AOTC sets too, but have completely struck out on the third set so far, which I can't even recall what it is at this point.
What totally blows for me, is that last time, I suckered myself into collecting both a completely packaged set, and another set to keep "carded" (on top of a third/fourth set to actually open). Since none of these are unique at all, I at least don't need any openers of them, but I think I'm still going to feel inclined to grab two of each. 6 x $30 = >:(
-
i like the episode 2 set because of sora bulq and oppo rancisis, but so much money for 2 new figures? no :(

I guess we shouldn't tell you that you missed a chance to buy one get one half off during Black friday weekend. :-X

Thanks Matt! It's good to be back and actively posting here again.
;D

I wish the ROTJ set had included a TAC Stormtrooper or DS Trooper instead of Vader. Still, I'll get one if I can score it for cheap.
-
These are here at KM and Sears Grand in abundance...
These are dumb.
-

I think they could have done a better job not including ANY of the characters that had previously been in one of these tin sets.
EP2 should NOT have included Mace Windu (he was in the regular edition EP3 tin)
EP3 should NOT have included Anakin (this same figure was in the regular edition EP3 tin)
EP6 should NOT have included Vader (a different Vader was in the regular edition EP6 tin)
EP6 should NOT have included a Biker Scout (the flip-up visor version was in the regular edtion EP6 tin)
EP2 should have included a Clone Pilot based off of the Evolutions figure
EP3 should have included an Obi-Wan instead of an Anakin
EP6 should have included the Emperor from the Evolutions set and a Royal Guard (just a repack of the ROTS red robed guard)
This would have made the sets at least DISPLAY better with a better variety of characters across all 9 sets.

The only way they could have done a better job was to not release them. :-X

So are these shipping in odd assortments, where the ROTS set isn't included? I'm finding hoards of the AOTC and ROTJ sets at my local K-mart (and one other nearby K-mart), but have never seen the ROTS set. It seems I'm finding freshly unpacked cases, so I can only assume there's some assortments w/o that ROTS set... Anyone else having that problem?
I did notice that Black friday (effective) 25% off sale, Anthony. Grabbed one at the 50% off price, but they only had two total down in Tustin. Oh well... But yeah, I should've deducted the extra $15 off my total there. Not that it helps much. :-\

10, actually. Don't forget the WM Cantina Band Members! ;)
