Title: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILER-FREE)
Post by: Dave on March 27, 2019, 12:23 PM
Do we know rough dates when we expect to see a teaser trailer, official trailer, teaser poster, official poster?

Are the teasers going to be released at Celebration?

I don't know, but that would be my guess (the BIG Star Wars party)… and then the trailer will open Avengers: Endgame

There's an Episode IX panel at Celebration....I expect the teaser to drop then along with the title.

Let's let the pure speculation on what we've seen (and heard) from the Teaser begin!   ;D

Was there any reveal of a teaser or movie poster during Celebration?  I'm assuming no real movie poster was shown, but figured I'd check.  I know we've seen leaked/fake poster imagery, but that was unofficial.

All of the the anthology and sequel trilogy teaser posters have just been text based.  Its not until the movie premier where the movie posters have been released recently.

Not that I saw.  Just the Star Wars in blue lettering and The Rise of Skywalker title.

Yes (https://twitter.com/starwars/status/1116767247614214145) - as boring and plain as the initial Ep7 and Ep8 teaser posters.  Look for it at a theater near you soon.

Thanks Jeff.  That's what I figured.  Boring, but it saves me a few bucks in not having to buy a teaser poster.

I need to rack up 1,000 Disney Movie reward points so I can get the theatrical poster.  It took forever for me to get the TFA and TLA ones!

Pretty sad I've got to do this, but every couple of months I go on Amazon.com and Target.com and search for "Disney DVD" and sort by cost.  I can usually pick up a handful for $5 or less that allow me to get a poster for about $45 worth of crappy movies that I then donate to Goodwill after taking out the rewards codes.  I've got 4000 points banked right now waiting for the E9 poster.

I'm curious if there is going to be any poster for The Mandalorian.

Boring, to be sure, but they did something a little creative, as I (ashamedly) read in a (click bait) article this weekend.

When you line up the three sequel teaser posters, "The Rise of Skywalker's" logo is noticeably higher in the frame, almost like it's...rising...

Yep.  It was revealed during the Disney+ portion of Disney's Investor meeting a week ago and handed out at the show's panel at SWC.  (I think the final regular size poster might have the updated logo (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D4IYdgdWwAAjtEl.jpg) on it though?)

Is there a Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker panel at SDCC?  I'm curious if we'll get a new trailer this weekend.

If not, a good bet will be at D23 next month.
Title: Re: Star Wars Episode IX (SPOILER-FREE)
Post by: Jeff on July 18, 2019, 11:19 AM
I don't think there is a TROS panel at SDCC.  At least there is nothing listed in the StarWars.com story about Star Wars at SDCC (https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-at-san-diego-comic-con-2019).  There is a big display at SDCC with the history of Stormtrooper armor (including the Ep9 Sith Trooper armor).  The pavillion/display that is at SDCC will be at D23 as well.

D23 has a The Mandalorian panel (https://d23.com/lucasfilm-d23-expo-2019/) announced, but no panel for TROS yet that I've seen.

Guess we'll have to wait until next month.  I'm looking forward o a new trailer.

A lot of prognosticators seem to think that there will be a BTS reel shown at D23.  And then a final trailer will be released in the week leading up to Triple Force Friday.

Just check the Monday Night Football schedule in Sept/Oct and look for a game that'll need a ratings boost and that'll be the day for the trailer release. :P

That will be when tickets go on sale....I hope it's not between the 14th and the 25th.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker D23 trailer. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n1T3HxHd7Y)

I figured I'd put this here as I am trying to stay spoiler free.

Anybody heard anything on when the final trailer is dropping and when tickets will go up for sale?  I've not heard anything mentioned.

One of the most notable sites for rumors is predicting the new trailer will drop on October 21st.  That might mean it premieres on ESPN during Monday Night Football, which has been done in the past.

That should also be the day tickets go on sale.

The trailer is tonight on Monday Night Football.

Pre-sale tickets just went on sale at my local theater as well.

Picked up tickets for a Thursday night show for myself and then a Friday afternoon showing for the family.  Luckily, the tickets went on sale a couple of hours before the trailer aired.  I think I was the first one to buy them for the showings I picked!

I love reserve seating!

As far as the trailer goes...it looks very interesting.  No real context, but looks like there should be a pretty epic space battle in it!  It reminded me of the battle towards  the end of Serenity, the way it was shot.

I did something similar to you, Matt_Fury.  I originally wanted the very first showing around 6:15pm on Thursday, but had a scheduling conflict, so will go to a later one around 8:000pm on my own then with my family on Friday.  I’m definitely looking forward to this  8)

I hate when you're trying to avoid spoilers and random Twitter messages from people you don't even know pop up on your phone with a preview with spoiler content.   Does Twitter hate me?

I'm trying to to the same.  It is going to be a long almost two months.  At least I got my ticket for Thursday night at 7 PM so I don't have to avoid the internet for too long on release day.

Twitter random tweets are pure bull****.  Instagram too.  Guess there are some guys putting spoilers as their avatar just to piss off people who are actually interested in the movie.

It's new Star Wars movie day!   ;D

So excited to go see this film tonight.  Have tried to avoid all the recent TV spots and 'preview scene' things.  Have avoided the paper/online reviews - even been off twitter the past few days trying to avoid the idiots who love spoiling.

Emotions are mixed.  Hoping for a great movie. Kind of sad to think this is it for the Skywalker saga (except for all the new books, comics, etc that will continue the story of Darth Vader, Anakin, Luke, etc of course :P).

Just can't wait!

Same here Jeff!  Plenty of YouTubers are putting spoilers in their titles at this point.  I'm getting sick of this!

I have tickets to the 11pm show....I'm thinking of taking my Savi's Lightsaber with me.   ;D

Can't wait...my oldest son and I have a tradition now of going out to dinner and seeing the first showing at 6pm. In 2015 after TFA we were talking about the fact that he would be 10 when Episode IX came out...he couldn't even conceive of it back then. I wish my younger son (and their mom!) could come as well, but with his autism he does not do well in theaters (much less sold-out ones) so we do what we can.

It's going to be a fun night!

I'm stoked too.  So far I've been able to avoid spoilers.

My kids are all fired up.  My twins turn 10 today so we're doing a quick birthday celebration (with home made C-3PO cake) and then off to the theater.  They love seeing the new movies what they consider a day early since all the press says tomorrow is the release day.  They think that I have magic powers that can get tickets early.  I tried to tell my daughter that Dad is just an uber-geek that knows when to get tickets, but she wasn't buying and still thinks I've got some secret connection.

;D Same here. Every time a commercial says "In theaters December 20th," my son replies: "Except for us!"

7pm showing for us. Like Jeff I have a mixed bag of emotions. Excited to see the film - but sad because the saga is ending. Mostly I’m sad because I was really looking forward to what was supposed to be a Leia-centric story. I’ll probably cry at some point. I’m such a girl.......

I just got back from the 5:00 show and the latest installment is light years better than Episode 8.  A little too fast paced for my liking, but I liked the story and where they took the characters.  Has Disney proclaimed that this is the last movie?  The ending is certainly left open for more storytelling among a variety of characters...

I just got back from my showing, and I'm just the opposite... I loved Last Jedi, not really digging Rise. I liked a lot of stuff, but I also disliked some stuff... initial reaction I'd say thumbs in the middle pointing down.

I look forward to watching it again soon!

Do you still feel that way? They seemed to do a lot with Leia without her real presence on the stage.
