I thought of the same thing when going through those pics as well.  Everyone called that there would be a box set of these down the road, and here they are.  Pass for me as well.  Good for those who are late to the game or missed them I guess though, and they look like they could be some sort of online exclusive or something in that setup.  At least they didn't throw in one new one in each set to get us to buy them again :).

Yeah.  If you're a serious collector, you have all of these, and if you're casual collector, you don't want them.

Not surprised to see it, but I am surprised to see it so soon.  I think the box displays look cool, but not cool enough to buy.

Only could find half of these at stores, so it looks like I'm getting these for the Starkiller, Solo, RFT, and Snowtrooper. ::)

At least they did a box set that consists of figures that were hard for some people to get at the time.  I will give them that.

Barring the packaging being gorgeous, I'm passing as well.  I have a full carded set of McFigures, and their art is outstanding as is, and look better than a box set IMO.

Loves me some McArt though.

Well, put.  These will probably sit at TRUs for a while.

I will wait on buying this set since I am only looking to pick up a Starkiller & Vader for my Jedi Set. Too bad they are not adding the Luke from C4 into this set.

You must have missed it - Luke is in the box (http://www.galactichunter.com/absoluteig/gallery/events/comic-con_international_2009/hasbro/SDCC_15.jpg) with Starkiller and Vader.

This would have saved a lot of folks some big headaches back in the day.  Nice for those of you who have holes to fill or like the boxed presentation.

At least they didn't throw in one new one in each set to get us to buy them again :).

Good point.  I wonder why Hasbro decided not to screw us on these sets.

These are a reluctant pass for me. I like the inner box art. Maybe if they go on sale I'll get a set of each to keep boxed. I have a full set carded and a full set loose, plus some extra troops. So I don't really "need" these sets.

I'm in the same boat. I like them better on individual cards but the sets are kind of cool. If it goes on clearance I'll probably pick them up. But I don't really need them.

I don't think Luke, C-3P0, and R2 are worth buying these entire packs for. Those are the ones I'm missing... maybe someday I'll get them on eBay. Or something.

I found these sets yesterday in the Fresno CA TRU.  They're not bad in my opinion, though I can understand the complaints, especially if one already has all carded versions.  I may eventually pick up the set with the rebel trooper and Luke, as those are figures I would like, but it is somewhat tough to bite the $40 price tag...

I checked for these at lunch and of course our sh*tty East Coast TRU had nothing. They are literally 3 waves behind on their Legacy figures now, it is shameful.

I'm about ready to cut them out of The Loop.

After seeing these at TRU the other day, I decided these are an easy pass for me. The single box is pretty plain looking from the front and really isn't something I feel the need to re-buy. The 30AC card art is just so much nicer and more colorful.

For collectors anticipating the arrival of this set, Adam Pawlus revealed on his Twitter page (http://twitter.com/Adam16bit) that these do not include all of the accessories that the carded releases had. Namely lightsaber hilts, blasters, the alternate heads for Vader and Fett and Fett's flamethrower effect. Buyer beware.

That's good to know. I'll try to track down the 2007 single carded and exclusive releases. I decided to sell mine last year, but I'm definitely kicking myself for that.

That's pretty lame - especially on Fett.  He's one of the few TAC figs I opened and I loved the alternate heads and the flimsy flame.

Gotta feel bad for those few completists that are still left out there....at least I do for some reason.

Just out of curiosity - is this based on someone just looking in the package or someone actually opening a set?

Is there a chance that the remaining accessories were put in a baggie off to the side where they can't be seen instead of them taking the time to have the accessories fit into slots in the tray with all of the figures?

I really don't care either way, but I know that there are folks who were looking forward to these as a way of scoring these hard to get figures from 2007 - kinda stinks that they put them altogether but then leave out some of the accessories.

Nope, he opened the sets and there were no extra accessories.

If by "someone" you mean me, yes, that's why I posted it. I opened a set and looked inside. No paperwork, no accessory pouches, nada.  WYSIWYG.  Some accessories are clearly visible in the package, and that's what you get.

Post by: Jesse James on October 27, 2009, 05:01 PM
I'll be honest, these figures sell relatively cheaply now I'm finding...  I just bought some at a small local toy show in the mall that comes around every couple of months, and got them for $4 and $3 each loose...  If that's not an issue (packaging) it's much better than the boxed set deal IMO.

The screwjob (which thanks to Adam for posting it) on the extra heads and weapons is really quite lame.  The Fett was one of the only reasons to buy him twice or thrice in some cases, same with Vader which didn't even appeal to me that much but displaying him with 2 heads prompted me to buy 2 of them.

I wasn't going to buy this boxed set because I have a complete carded set to display, and I like all the artwork on the packages and stuff, but really the lack of the extra parts would make me pass on the boxed set anyway I think.  Disappointing to say the least.

Wow, that stinks.  I'm not getting the sets anyway, but I feel bad for those that were going to get these in place of the carded editions.  Does make me feel better about the higher prices I paid for these individually though.

Question for Adam if he has both the TAC versions of the figs and the new boxed sets.  When you compare them side by side, does it look like to you the paints apps are slight variations?

What I noticed when I saw these at TRU was that some of the figures looked darker/dirtier (Snow Trooper, Fett, Stormtrooper), and a lot of the rebel figures looked as if their paints apps were a touch lighter.

Well, as much as I try to have own at least one loose example of every paint variation I think I'll live life without buying these **** sets. I mean the idea was good for those that missed some of the harder to find McQ figures (though not one was hard here) but to throw this **** into a box basically incomplete is crap.

I don't fully understand people's anger. If you have these figs already then who cares and if, like me, you still needed some then it's a really neat way to get them all.

I don't think people that hav ethese already are angry. I'm not. I do stand by that it's a ****** way to put them back out for people missing them being in essence seems like almost half are incomplete figures.

Here is a breakdown (culled from the RS forum) of the various missing accessories.

• Obi Wan - missing the saber hilt for his belt
• Yoda (complete)
• Chewbacca is missing his pistol
• Han - missing his saber hilt and pistol
• Fett - missing his alternate head and flamethrower flame
• R2 and 3PO (complete, obviously)
• Rebel Soldier (complete)
• Starkiller - missing her saber
• Luke (complete)
• Vader - missing his alternate head and pistol
• Stormtrooper - missing his shield and his gun
• Snowtrooper (complete)

Yeah, it's not anger that they're releasing it, it's anger that the people who are getting it are basically getting screwed out of complete figures.  It's the way it's being released.  I'm not the type of guy to begrudge someone getting something hard to find, but I just feel Hasbro's effort on this was half-hearted since those key parts are missing.

The Fett's extra head and flame accessory are big parts of the figure to me...  Losing those really sucks for the people getting the set.  Not getting the coins is fine and all, but the accessories missing makes the figures incomplete.  That's a bummer.  :-\

Looking at Jayson's list, now Chewbacca has a big empty holster...  Same with Han.  Fett's second head makes basically a completely different figure IMO, which I displayed with his belly open and stuff.  Starkiller missing her saber is a pretty big deal.  Vader missing his extra head and pistol is much like Fett's figure.  The Stormtrooper, same deal.

I may have an extra Fett head, if someone buying this needs/wants one.

It's very slight, nothing big and obvious really.  C-3PO seems to be the most different but I think to most people it'll be pretty insignificant.  I was hoping they'd redeco these as a draw to buy them again-- particularly R2-D2 as I've seen this design in different colors-- but oh well.
