Other Toy Lines / New NFL Figures
« on: May 21, 2006, 05:38 PM »
www.gracelyntoys.com

I saw these in WalMart and almost got a couple.  I left them there though.  If they had a Cowboy in the lineup I would have.

I saw:

Brady
Favre (however you spell it)
Randy Moss
Peyton Manning
Brian Urlacher
Deion Sanders (in Baltimore Ravens)
T.O. (in Eagles uni)
Ray Lewis (I think)
Pennington (the NY Jets QB I think)

A couple of other guys I don't recognize even though I love the NFL...but like I said..no Cowboys so I passed.

The figs were about 4.5 inches or taller.  The Linebackers were bigger than the QB's  TO was taller than Deion etc...so there is some variety to scaling.

I will definately snag any Dallas players or Former Texas Tech Red Raiders (Zac Thomas has the only chance)....

I didn't know if anybody saw these..the NFL type figure I got was back in the day when they were in the Sears or Penny's Christmas WIsh Book and you put the numbers on yourself....

They are more articulated than the Hoth Wave (except ATAT driver)...

Saw them at Wal Mart.

Watto's Junk Yard / If you had to stay in bed for 3 weeks
« on: July 13, 2005, 08:42 AM »
Ok, I need the help of our brilliiant and diverse group here on JD.com...

On this up coming Monday (the 18th) I am going in to have Back Surgery. (somehow I have herniated my disc AGAIN) and I need some reading/watching material as I sit in bed for 3 weeks.

Any reading (comic/graphic or novel) that anybody would suggest?  At this point I've read most of the Star Wars Novels (I am considering reading the X Wing Series from book 1 to the end).  And I have the DVD's.

I've also read almost every Louis Lamour (he writes about the old west for you high brow folks).

I was thinking of one of the Comic Book collected works from the Justice League or the Avengers, but I don't which are good self contained stories with Characters that I know without too much preaching.  Anybody know any good ones?  Probably just Marvel or DC characters since I am more likely know at least recognize them.

I am trying to stay away from anything too politically or socially charged either way (whether comic or print), I'll be in a bad enough mood being stuck in bed while everybody (you know who you are) is out there "Collecting" without me.

Star Wars Action Figures / VOTC Customs
« on: April 16, 2005, 10:53 PM »
Ok I am admittedly not even good enough to be a "beginner" in the customizing world, but here are my first "Successful" attempts at Customs.

Han on the Death Star:

Some VOTC Stormies as "Clean" Tatooine Stormies

That is a POTJ one in the middle asking..."Why don't I have Articulation?" and "Why Can't I hold my gun with both hands?"

I've done Luke with a belt similar to Han Solo's but my daughter took off with him a minute before I took the pictures and I can't find where "The Easter Bunny" hid him, but at least it wasn't my car keys again.

Well just in from the Fan Club....Hasbro is killing the 12 Inch and 3 3/4 inch lines after this spring for their crap-anime style 8 inch figures.

I just get back into Joes and they kill the line....be careful folks or I'll collect your favorite line too....

Modern Classifieds / FS Master Replicas Stormtrooper Blaster Prop
« on: January 21, 2005, 08:46 AM »
Ok on a whim I ordered the Stormtrooper Blaster from Master Replicas and then forgot about it, well it showed up the week before Christmas and I have only taken the MR box out of the shipping box to inspect it.  I also have noticed that I lack the display space for this bad boy in it's display case or out.  It is number 4**/3500 if that sort of thing matters (that is four hundred and something)

I'm asking $475 plus shipping, I take PayPal or money Orders.  But if you have  a reasonable offer.....

Watto's Junk Yard / Disney World Trip
« on: January 17, 2005, 08:30 AM »
My wife and I are taking our daughter to Disney World in the first week of February and I thought I'd get any tips/advice anybody here might have for good places to  go/eat while there.

Also, I do plan to hit the Star Wars shop while I'm there, so if you anybody is looking for something there, let me know, I'll try to hook you up.

My daughter is 3, thouroughly infatuated by anything Disney or Princess or Disney Princess so the bulk of our trip is going be very Kiddo intensive (which is cool with me)...

The sad part is that we'll be there during the Superbowl...I assume the Rooms at the Pop Culture Hotel have TVs....

Any Must See rides/exhibits, also is Star Tours the ride Scary by 3 year old girl standards?

Other Toy Lines / Dusty Trail Toys new "Wild West" Line
« on: December 18, 2004, 10:48 AM »
In either Lee's or Tomarts  I noticed that Dusty Trail Toys has a line planned for 2005 that is going to be 3 3/4 in Wild West Figures.  I am probably the only one on a Sci Fi board that is not only looking forward to this, but has taken the time to do up a dream list.  Just in case there is another fan of the American Frontier West I'll post it here.

So far they have listed/pictured:

A stage coach with 2 running horses, a driver and guy riding "shotgun"...no pics of the guys, but the Coach and Horses look good.

A Gatling Gun
A Cannon
A Tombstone inspired "Cowboy" almost like Curly Bill
A "Doc Holliday" looking figure
A "Wyatt Earp" looking Marshall
A Mexican Vaquero nice big sombrero on this guy.

They seem to have articulation in the Knees, waist, Elbows, wrists, neck but you know how Prototypes are...

So that is what is listed.  I'd give up all my pre OTC figures if this line would take off.  I was always a Cowboy as a kid growing up (until Star Wars came along)

Here is my WISH/WANT list:

a "Dude"...city dweller in the frontier with the bowler and suit (very Sheriff Behan if you've seen Tombstone)

a Cavalry Soldier with horse
a Cavalry Officer with horse (not just Yellow Hair Custer)
a Cavalry Soldier (Buffalo Soldier) with horse  (no matter what line I collect Army Building always has a place)

Apache indian (but not just Geronimo, but generic Braves too)
Sioux Indian  (not just Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull but Braves)

The rest of the OK Corral Guys to include: Virgil, Morgan and some Clantons and McLaurys

A Texas Cowboy
A Northern Plains Cowboy (yes there is a difference and both need Horses and a couple of "Doggies" to round up)

A Texas Ranger (but not Walker or Nolan Ryan)

A Pony Express Rider

Buffalo Bill

Bartender

If they Do a Prairie Schooner,  I assume it would come with a Sod buster family

Maybe the James-Younger Gang but I don't know how long a span they are using, the magazine article mentioned 1880's....

Saloon Girls...Fan Boys LOVE Saloon Girls

Oh well I am sure there are more  I could list, but this is a start.

Watto's Junk Yard / When Sports and Star Wars Collide....

I wonder how this guy did?  I would assume the helmet doesn't lend itself well to Breathing during a marathon.
