No thread for this one yet? Hmmm...
From the front page:
"Wave 7 also makes an appearance and Endor fanatics should love this. A new A-Wing Pilot (Tycho Celchu) w/removable helmet, an Ewok 2-pack (a dark grey-black Ewok and a lighter brown Ewok, both warriors in the new smaller sculpting style), R2-D2 (Endor Feast) with a net and spit for your new Ewoks to carry him on, Spirit of Anakin Skywalker (with Hayden Christansen's likeness), and Conceptual Art Han Solo (with removable headgear)!"
Endor Feast R2 with net and spit = cool beans. Great piece to complement the Endor 3PO from last year. :)
Man, I hope one of those Ewoks is Wompus! :D
-
Congrats to JD for getting in with a big scoop before C4 even opens. My hope is that the R2 is made of the R4-G9 mold and is a clean figure with no unnecessary deco so he won't look awkward in other displays.
-
My hope is that the R2 is made of the R4-G9 mold
Unfortunately, the figure they have on display sure looks like the VOTC sculpt (judging by that removable panel once again). Also looks like some leafy green paint ops on the feet. :-\
-
I'm a little disappointed with the figure, love the accessories though... I really dislike that VOTC sculpt and the removable leg and all. Wish Hasbro would just give that one up already for the clearly superior Preview Droid's sculpt... Still though, that neg and spit rock.
I love the Ewoks too... Great weapons and sculpting/paint aps. Nice to get two warriors that are fairly non-descript. Anyone know who the two are? I'm not good at remembering Ewok names. They all look alike to me.

The brown one looks like Romba the gray one resembles Warok
As for the others in this wave that A-Wing Pilot headgear looks like ****, can we get alternate heads already and forego what look like pizza dough on his head. ::)
I'm not sure about that sheer robe Manakin is wearing :-\

I believe we dubbed Wompus the green one in the front. I'd go with Warok and Romba as well (but it could be Lumat)

Count me in as someone who's happy to see some more Ewoks. Actually I wouldn't mind seeing all-new resculpts of Wicket and Logray eventually too, even though I know not everyone is crazy about the woks. I was looking through the pics at RS, and looking at the pic from behind the figures, it seems like these two ewoks have knee (or ankle, depending how you look at it) articulation. That's pretty spiffy. The whole wave looks pretty nice, as does pretty much everything this year.
-
I'd go with Warok and Romba as well (but it could be Lumat)
I concur - neither of those Ewoks shown at C-IV look like Wompus (no green hood, no "rock-on-stick" weapon). The Quest for Wompus continues I guess.
Still though, very cool to get two new Ewoks. :)
-
Very happy with the ewoks, wish we could have got a wokkling.
-
I was thinking about the A-Winger and his two helmets a moment...
I think if you look closely at the helmet tucked under his arm, that's actually his helmet as most recognize it from the movies... I think that towel on his head is actually to give the look of an under-covering seen on some of them standing around in the briefing. That helmet under his arm though is, at least I'm thinking, the "film helmet"... I'm guessing it's based on someone other than Tycho Celchu's helmet though, as neither helmet looks like the A-Winger's helmet that hits the Executor's bridge. The one under the arm almost resembles the B-WIng helmet more... It's a little confusing.
I still like the figure though, just don't know where Hasbro was going with all that.
-
As long as it's removable, and since he has another helmet I'm assuming it is, it doesn't bother me one bit - I think it's cool that they threw it in.
-
Man, I hope one of those Ewoks is Wompus! :D
I hate you >:(
I love the Ewoks too...

You people all clearly suck. And you all deserved Jar-Jar. I hate you. Oh, and pre-emptively, I hate Brad too.
-
Good Lord, that Spirit of Anakin sucks. Nevermind the Hayden head. It's really not that bad by itself, I guess, but it's so different from the 2004 OTC Spirit Ben that they're not gonna look good together. So I guess a new Spirit Ben to match this Anakin will go on the ol' top ten list most-wanted list for next year. . . >:(
My hope is that the R2 is made of the R4-G9 mold
Unfortunately, the figure they have on display sure looks like the VOTC sculpt (judging by that removable panel once again). Also looks like some leafy green paint ops on the feet. :-\
Better to have a goofy-ass paint job on the inferior VOTC sculpt than on the superior R4-G9 one. To get another Artoo with the new sculpt, but with another silly paint job--how infuriating would that be? I just want an R4-G9 Artoo, with a plain, non-scene-specific paint job, that's all. At this point, I've nearly resigned myself to the fact that it's never gonna happen.
-
i'm loving those ewoks, i'll buy them, but the rest of this wave not :-\
-
You're showing your age Brent - those of us who were under the age of 12 in 1983 love Ewoks. I hope they make them all! And as they make more and more Ewoks, I hope they re-paint the Ewok Village and throw a few new pieces in.

Hallelujah, don't forget the Battle Wagon! :P

When attempting to give Brent a hard time for no good reason, yes, we do.
-
I'm telling ya, Jar Jar with subtitles and less dialogue (or dialogue through interpretation like 3PO did for the Ewoks) would've improved him... ;)
Ewoks rock man. Midgets in bear suits? Come on... That's the kind of genius Barnum & Bailey made a fortune off of.
-

Brent has a hard enough time as it is--leave the poor man be.

I retract my earlier statement.
BTW, I steadfastly refuse to purchase a spirit Anakin figure with a Hayden head on it. >:(

I'm almost with you on that one, except that I'm a sucker and will buy it even though it sucks.
I don't blame Hasbro though - I blame George Lucas for bringing it to life.
-
I can agree with that, Hasbro is simply making the most out of an opportunity presented to them by GL. Still, I ain't buying.
-
Great wave! I'll get the 'Wok 2-Pack, Spirit Anakin, Ewok Village R2, and maybe McHan.
-

Ever since Episode One I've come to realize that Ewoks are really not that bad.
-
the a-winger, ewoks, and r2 looks amazing. going to get at least three of the Awingers. all this new stuff is over whelming.
-
Yes, it comes with a bow and a quiver, arn't those vintage accesories??
-
Sweet mother of... this wave is incredible. Now, I've been waiting on images of the A-Wing pilot more than any other figure... it looks wonderful, but I think Hasbro has used some creative license there. I'd have rather they update the familiar look of the POTF2 and vintage versions:

-
It's a semi-easy enough fix... Part of me thinks Hasbro was wanking the fans a bit with the creative license and giving us Tycho... Kind of skipping "reality" and going for EU instead. Maybe they just didn't have good ref material though too, but I'd think LFL would have that readily available since ROTJ was pretty heavily production photo'd for that stuff.

It seems to me that the new A-Wing pilot dovetails pretty well with the pilot in this image from the briefing scene aboard Home One in ROTJ
(http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/5/52/Celchumovie.jpg)

Aside from his barely-there nightgown and translucent plastic, is it just me or is that Anakin Spirit figure a kitbash of Agen Kolar's lower body, Pilot Obi-Wan's upper body, and a new head? Not that it's a bad thing, mind you, but that long crotch flap over a soft goods waist skirt just brings Kolar's strange distribution of plastic vs. soft goods to mind.
-
Man, it's nice to see some ewoks finally getting some love. That two pack is probably the top of my list from this wave.Great looking figures.
-

Could be. Looks like the A-Wing pilot kit bashes the VOTC Pilot Luke arms and thighs.
-
Ewoks- I really like this set. It looks like they have ball-joint shoulders. Hopefully Wicket & Paploo are next.
R2-D2- It's a cool idea. But VOTC R2 again? Maybe an Ewok Capture Luke, Han & Chewie are planned to complete the Ewok Capture scene.
A-Wing Pilot- This the gem of the wave. Fantastic articulation & I'll probably end up using this guy for customs alot.
McQuarrie Han Kenobi- Maybe that's what this figure should be called. It's an Okay choice but I would of preferred a figure of the "Green, Monster" concept.
Ghost Anakin- I'm probably the only who likes this figure. I think it's an improvement over OTC Ghost Ben. I'm hoping a new Ghost Ben is done in this style. Along with Yoda.

I would say the vintage version is the closest from what little we can see in the film pic. No gloves (the new one has them), the boots appear to be soft cloth type, and the chest plate seems the most accurate if you look at the few metallic details we can see. But, I'm not really disappointed, just curious ;D
-
Ewoks - Finally getting 2 packs of these. Paying $7 for Chief Chirpa alone hurts. So does astromechs.
A-Wing Pilot - It looks pretty good except the under helmet thing.
R2-D2 - I may get it for the accesory.
Ghost Anakin - I may or may not get this. I actually like the clear cloak though.
Han McQuarrie - I am definately getting that. The Mcfigures have won me over this year.
-
Hopefully Wicket & Paploo are next.
According to that otheR Site, Lumat and Female w/Wokling are next! Very cool.
McQuarrie Han Kenobi- Maybe that's what this figure should be called.
I refer to him as Obi-Han.
Ewoks 2-Pack: Good to see some new Ewoks, Im not jumping out of my seat though.
Spirit Anakin: I really liked him the first time I saw him but then I realized...HE SUCKS!
A-Wing Pilot: Im not as excited about this one for some reason. :-\
R2-D2: Eh, pass. Good idea, though. Maybe I wouldnt have passed if it was the clean R4-G9 repaint.
Obi-Han Kenolo: Yes! Probably him, the droids, and Chewbacca are the best concept figures of the year. This is the gem of the wave.

Finally!!! the Airborne Trooper gets into another Case...he is becoming the Cantina Han of 2007....I can't order OT cases anymore without getting prequel crap in them...
But 2 McHan's is cool.
-
Big pictures are at JediInsider.
Ewoks and Concept Han look great.
A-Wing pilot has a very strange long neck. Why?
-
Maybe to allow for range of movement while wearing the flight helmet.
Too bad some of the Clone didn't benefit from such allowances, nothing like seeing their chins sticking out from under the helmets edge. ;)
-
So I've now pre-ordered waves 5, 6, and 7 from Newforce.
Having never done this before - I'm wondering what % of their orders get canceled?
Am I in good shape to expect these or should I be making back up plans and filling my gas tank up for more fruitless Star Wars runs?
-
I'm wondering what % of their orders get canceled?
It all depends on whether or not Hasbro fills their orders... sometimes it's 0%, sometimes it's 100%.
NF had some rough patches when Hasbro was feeding big box retail over the little internet guys in '05 and during the UGH cases in '06, but so far they have hit 100% on all orders in wave 1-3. Granted, sometimes it takes a while (ie they get 50% of the order in, then 50% 2-3 weeks later) but they have been coming through recently. (*knocks on wood*)
-
These are looking nice. I will at least have an A-Wing pilot in my ranks! No need to mention Mcfigs... there's fabulous!!
-
Thanks for the info Jeff - I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Anyone think Tycho's neck is way too long?

That Ewok Village Spirit Anakin is nice:

Stinks it doesn't have the Shaw head though...

The smile looks like the Shaw smile though. :P

From the email Rick sent out today:
hello all...
Just a note, we have added wave 6 and wave 7 to our presell catalog (the last 2 items). We have also added more wave 5 for preorder.
To give all an update, so far this year we have been very encouraged by Hasbro's allocation of product to us. Below is the % of our initial orders (if over 100%, it is extra product ordered for in stock sales).
Wave 1-90%
wave 2-100%
wave 2.5-100%
wave 3-120%
Vintage-105%
So, if this trend continues, we are hopeful to continue to be able to supply everyone with 100% of their preorders! As folks know, preorders are not a guarantee, but this year they are looking good!.
We also have minimal wave 3 cases left in stock, ready for immediate shipment. And, for a limited time, any order for a wave 3 case (did not apply to preorders, only new orders) with receive a free Vader and Coin set!.
Thanks
Rick, www.newforcecomics.com

Anyone think Tycho's neck is way too long?
Uh, hell yeah. :'( That's pretty friggin' ugly so I'm really hoping the production figure doesn't match up to that.
-

Me too. I'm also hoping the same thing about the Han, his shoulders seem to have DS Trooper syndrome.
I'm buying a carded Anakin, but am going to try to avoid an opener. I think it's safe to say, it's my least wanted figure ever. It only ranks below Willrow Hood. ;)
-
I love how Rebel'scum rips off JI's images and then crops them on their trademark blue background.
I know it's the internet but at least give them props.
-
WOW, his neck is huge. I usually dont compalin too much about these things but that looks terrible. I hope that it is just the prototype.
-
I'm just glad the McQuarrie figures are coming more than 1 a case. Those figs are a bitch to find. I've seen the stormtrooper twice and have yet to see either the Boba or Chewie.
-
I love how Rebel'scum rips off JI's images and then crops them on their trademark blue background.

psst. at the bottom of their story they credit BBTS for the images. ;)
-
On the A-Wing pilot's neck, I agree with Jayson -
Maybe to allow for range of movement while wearing the flight helmet.
Based on how those A-Wing helmets hang, I think once you get that helmet stuck on there you won't notice the long neck so much.
I seem to recall the "Arvyl Crynyd" A-Wing pilot figure having a longer neck too for that reason...
-

No comparison! Willrow is an obscure background character with a cult following.
Spirit of episode III Anakin is a 25-years-later Lucas-style abomination!
An abomination that I'll buy in duplicate. ::)

Sure, that's what they say.
-
I thought the A-Wing Pilot's (Tycho) neck did look a little long too, but as others have said, its likely due to the helmet. This wave looks pretty solid overall. I'm a little disappointed that we're not getting a swappable Sebastian Shaw head for the Anakin figure, but the others look nice. Its funny, for as simple figures as they are, you can really see how sculpting/paint/articulation has improved when comparing these Ewoks to the POTF2 ones. I kind of like the 5 figure lineups like Waves 6 and 7 have. It doesn't seem quite as daunting to keep up.
-
Nice! I'll definitely be buying the Ewoks... :)
-
I dunno guys, that neck on the AW'er is gonna bug the hell out of me I'm afraid... Unless the neck's made to telescope ala Antilles' neck? The pics of the AW'er at C4 showed him with a much more shallow neck...
If it's like the pic shown there though, I'll be disappointed regardless of how it looks with the helmet on. :(
EDIT: By the way the images really don't look like a telescoping feature to the neck at all, it's just absurdly long. I'll be shocked if that isn't how the final figure appears, unfortunately. The helmet's not THAT elongated either, so I dunno why they'd do that.
-
Maybe Tycho just suffers from an abnormally long neck in the EU? It was pointed out on the other site that he actually looks more like Luke than the actual Luke heads this year on some of the TAC figures. I kind of have to agree.
Anyway, I am really looking forward to some of the figures in this wave. Especially the Ewoks for some odd reason.
-
With Tycho's slowly waning popularity to me, the Ewoks are pretty high on my list, as is the McTrooper... Love the Ewoks though. It's high freakin' time there. Are they the two that hijack the AT-ST with Woobacca the Cookie? I seem to get that impression looking at them anyway. Finally a furball with a bow though. Been a while for that.
Yay Hasbro.
-
I'm afraid this wave is going to collect dust.
Airborne Trooper - Ok, it's a clone so this one will move on the usual pace.
McVader - Yeah it's a McQuarrie figure, but in my opinion the least desirable one.
McHan - Best of the wave after the Ewoks.
Spirit Anakin - I might pass on this figure. It's looking ok, but nothing about it seems that cool to me. I'd rather them have not used soft goods here. At least give him a second head of Shaw for the purists out there. If Concept Fett can have two heads, then so can the Chosen One. I'm thinking this will be a major pegwarmer.
A-Wing Pilot - He has the neck of a sauropod. Stupid looking. I hope it's and easy fix or he looks better with the helmet on. His shoulders kind of look like they've been dislocated in a crash. Other than that, nice looking figure. But these are a couple of glaring problems with him from what I've seen. Will he sell well? I tend to think at first he will, but then he'll be another peg warmer.
R2-D2 - Bah! Why the shiny dome? I might get one of them after they've been collecting dust for a few months at TRU. Other than that, no thanks. This figure should have had all the explosive features of R2 at the bunker when he gets fried. Pegwarmer written all over it.
Ewoks - AWESOME. Best of the wave. Never been the biggest of Ewok fans, but these look fantastic. And nice to see two for the price of one. Count me in for a few of these!
Now, what this wave could use is an Imperial of some sort. How about an SA AT-ST driver added into the mix?
:P
-
Alright--
Ewoks--They are looking better and better with every new picture but Im not as excited because Im not a huge Ewok fan. Ill still pick it up...maybe...
Obi-Han Kenolo--This is the best figure of the wave by a thousand miles and the best Mcfigure after the McDroids. It's awesome.
R2-D2--PASS. This may be one of this year's lamest figures and it will definitely keep the pegs nice and toasty.
Spirit Anakin--Unlike the Ewoks, this figure is looking worse and worse with every new picture. I still wish they had stuck with the OTC Spirit Obi-Wan format and given him a Shaw head, the Hayden head with this strange new format is just idiotic.
A-Wing Pilot--Looks ridiculous. Theres really nothing else to say about him.
THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST WAVE OF THE YEAR. Even the repack wave kicks the crud out of this one. I would actually be just fine if I only picked up Obi-Han, thats how bad this wave is. Two crappy Endor waves two years in a row. How sad. :( >:(
I just cant wait for this wave to come and be gone. Similar to my feelings about the Jabba's Palace wave. Get it over with and bring on the EU wave! 8)

I saw some pics over at Rebelscum.com. Just only to confirm, The Anakin Skywalker Jedi Spirit figure is in the form of Hayden Christensen.

To quote Thomas Jefferson, "Sarcasm doesn't translate well on message boards."
We've known it's the Hayden head for over a month and a half now. What you reported isn't exactly breaking news.

Wave looked amazing at Celebration Europe.
Can't wait.
-
I dunno - kinda looks like a young quaker to me...

-
I am scared at the long neck on the pilot. I had to modify my VOTC Leia so she looked normal without the poncho. same goes for this one. It will need some custom work. The ewoks rule this wave!
Maybe I am part of the few but I am not bothered by the Hayden spirit at all. I think this figure look cool but I wish they would get a consistent look for holos and spirits and stick too it so they match. The OTC Luke and Obi in my humble opinion nailed it. I wish they stick to that look for all of this genre. Face it guys, Hayden is Anakin now.
-
There's a picture over at scum of the pilot with the new Helmet on and the neck doesn't look like an issue.
Hopefully we'll see some pictures at CC that should settle it one way or the other.
-
With the helmet off though... ugh. Is he gonna look like **** or no? If the helmet's off and he looks bad, the figure's got a problem to me. :( I hope not because a good A-Winger's been a long time coming, even if it's a figure Hasbro EU'd up a little bit.

really? i think he looks pretty good. but then again i am a sucker for pilot figures :P
-
Face it guys, Hayden is Anakin now.
Sorry, that sounds too much like "who are you trying to convince?" :P In my world, there are no special editions, prequels, or dvd changes. The OT is the same as it's been for 30 years now (according to my VHS and laserdiscs, my particular collecting habits, and just my vision of the saga). Needless to say, the Spirit Hayden is an easy pass for me.

If the neck is too long on the pilot, I'll just leave the helmet on.
-
This wave is awsome. The McQuarrie Han is my personal favorite, he looks so much like obi-wan.
-
Looking most forward to the ewoks myself. It'll be nice to have more than just Teebo in my ewok forces.

The ewoks looks awesome, my favorite of the wave.

I'm diggin the Ewoks as well. The pic on the card of Tycho kinda reminds me of Will Ferrell for some reason..

-
This wave may be my favorite of the year.
Tycho: Great sculpt, love how they packed in two helmets. Still, pass.
Spirit Of Anakin Skywalker: Awesome, definite buy.
EU McQuarrie Concept Han Solo: Will buy if I see it.
Ewok Net R2: Maybe.
Romba & Graak 2-Pack: Awesome, love the little buggers. Buy.
The case assortment rocks as well. Each new figure is 2 per case! Should make them a lot easier to find.
-
Indeed that's a good wave of figures... The R2's outstanding for accessories, the Concept Han's great as have been all the concept figures, the Ewok 2-pack is an army building dream if you dig ewoks, and Tycho's a great figure regardless of "accuracy" or not. Just hope that neck stays normal. ;)
He's a good army builder though, great articulation (best Rebel Pilot yet), 2 sets of headgear for army building is helpful, and I'm digging him. Can't wait to outfit my A-Wings with new pilots... Do a few headswaps and I'll be set I think.
-
Go Romba! I'm glad that's official. Also digging the A-Wing pilot more and more every time I see it.
-
I agree, the Ewoks might be the highlight... Tough call between the Tycho figure and them. The fact they have individual arrows though, a working quiver... I think the arrows even fit in the bow. That's sweet stuff for Ewoks. Bring on resculpts of all the previous figures save for Chirpa if they're this high quality.
-
Bring on resculpts of all the previous figures save for Chirpa if they're this high quality.
I thought the POTJ Teebo was pretty good. But I do agree that some of the more aged figures- Wicket, Logray, and the rest of the Vintage Woks deserve a resculpt.
-
I'd take a new Teebo only because, now, he's pretty oversized really... Kind of a bummer though because I agree, he's nice in general, but he's definitely towering over the likes of Chief Chirpa... I mean, he's almost a Wookiee by comparison, haha. :)
-
Isn't Teebo suposed to be taller?
-
Pretty much. He definitely stands out from the other Ewoks in his scenes. But I think re-working Teebo would be an exercise in misplaced priorites. We still need more Ewoks that were in the vintage line, like Lumat and Warok. Wicket could use a serious upgrade considering the importance of his role in ROTJ and that we're still dealing with a POTF2 era sculpt. And I think we'd all like to see more Ewoks in general before revisiting a figure that was released within the past 5 years.
The Ewoks in this set are nice. Especially since we're getting a never-before-produced Ewok in Graak.
Tycho still remains my personal favorite in the wave. I had always felt as though the A-Wing pilots should be better represented. Especially since the POTF2 A-Wing Pilot is just awful, and the Arvel Crynyd we got with the SAGA A-Wing was just a repaint from the POTF2 Rebel Pilots Cinema Scene. So seeing Tycho with the two helmets and removable web gear and superior articulation is very welcome in my book.
-
Wow, that carded pic of the A-Wing pilot clinched it for me; he looks great! And the concept Han is making me regret skipping the McQuarrie figures so far...
-
A-Wing Pilot: PASS! Not interested at all.
R2-D2: PASS! I would buy it if it weren't for them repacking the R2-D2 with the chrome dome, which isn't accurate.
Obi-Han Kenolo: Still my favorite from the wave and my favorite concept figure of the year, next to Snowtrooper. Awesome.
Ewoks: They're growing on me. May just be the first Ewoks I ever bother to buy.
Spirit Anakin: This just might be the worst brand new figure of the year. Everything about it is terrible. Easy PASS.
-
Wow, the onslaught continues. I just got noticed that my Wave 7 set is in my "pile of loot" and ready to ship from BBTS. I guess I didn't expect it quite so soon.
-
my Wave 7 set is in my "pile of loot" and ready to ship from BBTS.
:o
I would guess that EE and NewForce won't be far behind then... crazy! Many folks around here haven't seen Wave 5 still and wave 7 could be just around the corner.
-
I have the last two waves of the year on preorder there as well, and I'm almost thinking about cancelling those. The wife isn't exactly crazy having all this stuff on the credit card each month, especially with Christmas shopping starting up now :). Its nice to not have as much to worry about finding at retail, but the big "bulk" charges kind of sting sometime (plus the shipping/etc.) Then again, I still haven't seen wave 5 or 6 (aside from one 4-LOM) at retail yet, so I'm glad I had them on order.
-
Anybody actually have W7 in hand yet? I see that W5 is just showing up at Targets on the West coast, so hoping we see a few solid weeks of W5 cases before W7 starts showing up at retial. ::)
-
Only 8 weeks left to crank through the remaining waves, so they can't be far away :o

I haven't seen waves 4, 5, or 6 at retail. At this rate, Wave 7 should be in my area this time next year.

Holy **** i live in Canada and even I have seen waves 4 and 5. Thats messed up man. Thats just messed up. Then again so far each of the WM in my area have only gotten one box of wave 5 :-X
-
I haven't seen waves 4, 5, or 6 at retail. At this rate, Wave 7 should be in my area this time next year.
Ditto, and I've only seen half of Wave 3.
-
Wave 7 already sprinkling in? Unbelievable! This is both good and bad!
-
This isn't exactly unforseen. The waves have all been somewhat compressed due to the debacle with the coins. And there's really only two months left to ship another three waves. Unless of course they push back wave 8 (Attack Of The Clones).
-
Yeah, I'm not too surprised I guess - I suppose just overall, I'm shocked to see so many different waves popping up seemingly all at once. I've seen Wave 6 more at retail than Wave 5.
-
I still have not seen 5 or 6 at retail, who knows when i will see 7. Still no word from BBTS about my preorder. :-\
-
Does anyone else want to go in on a THANK YOU letter to Hasbro for how easy they have made this year in collecting? And by THANK YOU I of course mean UP YOURS!!!!!
-
That's not very nice.
They have given us a lot of new figures this year that have surpassed my expectations.
What are you not happy with?
-
Yeah, I don't know if "Up Yours" is warranted, Nick, because we've gotten some nice figures this year. It's just the rush we've gotten the past few months that have made it tough on the pocketbook. The only complaint is that it feels Wv5 has gotten overlooked at the moment, but I think it'll pop up once some stock gets moved in the places like TRU (my bet) or Wally World (though Wv6 is hitting there) :-\ .
-
Distribution is the only problem that I've seen this year.
-
Yeah, distribution has definitely been a problem. I preordered all the waves this year thinking that I wouldn't have much time to go hunting (with a new baby), and I'm glad that I did. I'll admit, its been hell on the checkbook the last couple months, but I should possibly have Wave 7 by the end of the week and I haven't seen much past parts of Wave 4 (Luke, Cantina Aliens) at retail (I did see a 4-LOM and Lando this weekend at Target though). It is nice to not worry about it from that standpoint though.
-
I just saw parts of wave 6 for the first time this weekend. I have yet to see wave 5 at all. I really hope they start putting lots of the McQuarries in the revision cases. I'm only caught up through Vader.
-

Ditto, and I've only seen half of Wave 3.
Ditto again. Except add wave 3 to the list. Stupid ass stores! >:(

MCQUARRIE HAN SOLO:
ok, this figures is made very good, but i'm not very interested in it, i don't like this han solo
EWOK 2-PACK:
i'll buy them, as soon as they appear here in germany, they really look great and i've been happy with chief chirpa last year
ANAKIN SPIRIT:
i like this anakin, looks very good, but i won't buy him, because i don't need him, i only buy him for a low price ^^
A-WING PILOT:
looks good, but i don't collect pilots :P
R2-D2 IN CARGO NET:
nice, but why should i buy him? one r2 is enough
-
Despite my OT purist collecting tendencies (like no McQuarrie figs or SE/DVD figs such as Jabba's drummer and ghost Hayden), this year's waves still have me very excited. I plan on 3-4 A-Wing pilots for my ROTJ rebel meeting dio (swapping a couple heads and having a mixture of helmeted, cloth-helmeted and helmetless versions), an R2 to complement the C-3PO in throne, and 2 to 3 sets of ewoks for customs. That's only 3 characters from the wave but 7 or 8 figures to buy!
-
Got to crack open the R2 last night. The figure itself okay, it's just an early-bird repaint. This figure is really all about the accesories which are quite fun and make the package quite heavy.
The others look great in the package, I can't wait to get a second set of each so I can open them.
-
No McQuarries, Daigo-bah? Those are OT, sort of.
I'm going out Friday, maybe I'll find this wave. *cough*Unlikely*cough*
-
I received a set of Wave 7 via BBTS yesterday, and I really like this wave overall. First of all, especially with all of the shipping/finds lately, I kind of like having more manageable waves like this. Five figures (6 if you count the Ewok 2 pack), and you're all set.
R2-D2 - A new take, although a repacked/repainted figure. The accessories are really nice though, and they (in combo with this wave in general) really make me want to pick up the vintage Endor playset (or they could re-release it :P)
Romba and Graak - I know the Ewoks aren't always popular around here, but I'm really happy with these figures. Both are nicely done, well articulated (for Ewoks), and have some nice accessories. I hope we get some more next year - along with eventual resculpts of Wicket and Logray.
A-Wing Pilot - Real nice figure overall, and I hope to get a couple more. Its nice to have some rebel troop builders like this - now if we can get the "soldiers" to go with the pilots.
Spirit of Anakin Skywalker - Not a bad figure, although the outer robe is kind of...different. Just a different type of material than I've seen before on a figure. I would have liked an alternate Sebastian Shaw head, but its still not bad.
McQuarrie Concept Han Solo - Another nice McQuarrie figure, and its nice to put him alongside Chewie. Doesn't really look like Han at all, but that's par for the course for some of these concepts. A nice figure though, hope to pick up another one to keep with my carded Hans.
Anyways, just random thoughts, but this is a pretty nice wave. All OT - and 5 figures. I wouldn't mind seeing 8-9 waves each year about this size, 5-6 figures each, and it would be a little easier to keep up (especially if 6 of them weren't shipped in the last 2-3 months of the year ;).
-
Saw 2 lonely R2's hanging around from this wave at Walmart.
-
R2-D2 - A new take, although a repacked/repainted figure. The accessories are really nice though, and they (in combo with this wave in general) really make me want to pick up the vintage Endor playset (or they could re-release it :P)
Hasbro, are you listening? Brian, I'd support your need for a home for the Ewoks.
-
Picked up all of wave 7 at Target this week and extras of Tycho and R2. R2 is much heavier than expected...
-
I agree, the Ewoks might be the highlight... The fact they have individual arrows though, a working quiver... I think the arrows even fit in the bow. That's sweet stuff for Ewoks. Bring on resculpts of all the previous figures save for Chirpa if they're this high quality.
I've opened the ewoks - definitely the best of the wave and rank right up there with the best of the TAC line. Although the arrows don't interact with the bow and you can't pose the bow as if he's pulling back the string like you could with the vintage ewok archers. But, you can mix and match the accessories between the 2 for added 'wok variety.
The Anakin is the turd in the punch bowl of this wave:
- No Sebastian Shaw alternate head
- The material used for the robe is way too stiff and isn't frayed at all along the edges like in the initial pics of this wave.
- The lightsaber hilt (aside from being wrong and unnecessary) has the peg to attach to the belt, problem is there's no corresponding hole in the belt. ::)
-
I'm looking at my Ewoks right now and they are pretty sweet. Kinda makes me mad that I shelled out $7 for OTC chirpa by himself. :-\ Anakin is not my favorite, but I still like him better than my 38th R2. At least R2 comes with an accessory.
-
My favorite of the wave is easily Tycho, though I don't have a McHan yet. The Ewoks are sweet too.
All I need now are a couple Hans and 2-3 more Tychos and I have enough of this wave. This wave is saving me money, which is awesome.
Passed on Anakin and wouldn't even take one for free.
-
Passed on Anakin and wouldn't even take one for free.
And I was going to offer you one for free. ;) *I really don't have one yet*
Maybe Anakin in lingerie would be better for the ladies?
-
I got Concept Han Solo from a trade with my dealer. Probably my third favorite figure of the Concept art subline (McSnowie and Chewie are much better in my eyes. Han is still a very cool figure with excellent sculpt, paint, and articulation. Two parts that really appeal to me are the cape (I love the way it's sculpted, with the wind blown look) and the pistol (the design is so simple and basic, yet it looks so deadly and lethal in the hands of a Sand Trooper or Nemoidian Soldier.) I can't wait until I find the other five figures from this wave, especially the ewoks.
-
Looks like people are starting to find this wave at both TRU and Target.
-
Those Ewoks look so incredible... I want them something fierce!
-
After finally getting a good look at the Spirit Anakin I got to thinking it looks like a pretty easy switcharoo to make a new/kitbash version for a Ben Kenobi-ANH.
New boots, non-spirit "paint", and a new ball jointed head easy Ben for Hasrbo to make for us. Though it is pretty lame to have a plug in lightsaber hilt with no where to put it.
-
Found wave 7 at local TRUS, McHan was missing....The Anakin is "funny" if not "strange", the Ewoks rock, the A-wing pilot is cool, and I also like the R2 w/ cargo net..at least they colred his feet w/ grass stains.
-
I found just wave 7 at my local TRU, And while i usually just look for Clones and Stormies, i must say Rhomba really rocks! This sawed off lil' @#$* looks like He's down for some devious #$%@! His eyes say it all...
I'm impressed! I may just have to make a Rhomba Fett.
-
The Anakin is the turd in the punch bowl of this wave:

But it shouldn't be frayed anyway, should it? I mean, I wouldn't think clothes in the afterlife would wear out. ???
-
Got to open the rest of the non-Mc figures from this wave last night. Great wave overall.
Spirt Anakin - this is going to sound weird, but he smelled exactly like I imagined. For some reason I expected the robe material to have a certain glue/glitter odor and I was right. Very faint. As for the rest, this figure bums me out because it's literally at the bottom of my list of figures I would ever want made, yet it's one of the most beautifully done.
Ewoks - both of these guys are just cool. I'm very happy with them.
A-Wing Pilot - another contender for figure of the year. Truly outstanding.
-
I'm lovin the Ewoks. Bring me more! Still my favorite out of this wave. Spirit Anakin kind of freaked me out...the awkward look on his face, odd skin tone, strange robes. Looks very weird to me, but I love the cardback so that evens it out for me.
This really should have been a no brainer for Hasbro to include an alternate head and I'm sure the idea was tossed around in planning, but it's just another repack with new head that we'll need to buy in a few more years. Yet another reason why I'm rethinking my collecting habits...
-

After having the figure, I would agree. However, which coin would it be? Double sided?

I just picked up this wave, well what I want from it at least, and just opened up the Ewoks set. As has been mentioned these are two nicely detailed teddy bears and with a repainting can fill your Ewok army just right. One thing that struck me as interesting was that Hasbro attempted to mimic the cardback art - and no doubt movie stills as well - when it comes to the paint application on the eyes. The cardback art shows a glare on each eyeball giving the impression that the Ewoks have two pupils per eye. Well they did that for the eyes of each figure and while a nice attempt it actually comes up kinda creepy. At first I thought this was a mistake on one figure, but both figures have it and in fact both figures in my extra set have it as well. Has anyone else noticed this? I think I might have nightmares this evening after looking at these two. ;D
-
I saw remnats of this wave at WM today - Tycho, R2, Anakin I should say. I would have bought the ewoks or McQ's but they were gone.
-
Picked up an opener McSolo yesterday and opened it. Decently made. Again, I dig the fact that quality articulation is put into all these figures.
Also picked up a few more A-wing pilots. A couple more and I can write off wave 7.
-
I got my shipping notice from NFC. I should finally have these wave very soon. Most looking forward to the Ewoks.
-
i think those have just arrived in germany now, so i just ordered the ewoks, i love them, anakin looks good, too
-
I managed to get the Ewoks, R2, the A-Wing pilot and McQuarrie Han Solo. I'm really looking forward to opening these up. Especially the A-Wing pilot.
-
This wave reminds of all the great value Hasbro has offered in TAC. In this wave alone, R2 has a nicely sculpted "gurney" and a huge net that must have been a pain in the @ss to sculpt, a gorgeous 2-pack of ewoks, and a pilot with a helmet and a headpiece. The one A-Wing pilot I managed to find is already sitting in my rebel meeting diorama (when I get more I'll take a pic).
-
I picked up the new Anakin Skywalker Jedi Spirit (in the form of Hayden Christensen) today at Walmart
-
The wave is in stock over at HTS. I just picked up the Mcquarrie Han and ewoks.
-
Wave 7 in the heezy at HTS.com, go get some. McHan and McSnowie.
Don't forget today's the last day for some codes - try "friends20" and "holiday20".
-
Thanks for the heads up Dressel... just ordered two McQuarrie Obi Wan/Yodas for $23.98 shipped. :)

Why oh Why did I buy these at CIV?

I believe that was Comic Con. But I agree. It cost more to get them then, than it does now.

They shipped my order. They should of shipped yours.

It's 3:30 PM EST. Time to go over to HTS.com and pick up your McSolo.

The McClam head fits pretty nice on the A-Wing pilot, for a little variety. And vice versa.

I did that as well, along with the Rebel Honor Guard head. All three heads work nicely on all three bodies.
-
So my McSolos from HTS came the other day... Word to the wise, never order with HTS if you want anything MOMC. >:( Each one of my figures were shipped in a box that was about 1/2 inch, to an inch too small on the outside. They had to bend the card completely, completely curving it, just to fit the figure in the box. This happened on both of my figures.
Just days earlier my A-Wingers arrived, also from HTS. They were thrown into a box that was far too large for just one figure. There was one of those little air cushions inside, which really did nothing since there was so much room for the figure to bounce around. Luckily, I was just looking to open these anyways so it really didn't matter to me how the cards looked. One was fairly beat up but the other was nice and MOMC. I'm really glad I didn't have to pay shipping (or anything above retail on these for that matter).
-
HTS got me what I wanted most for Christmas today: Romba & Graak. :D
I ordered them, Artoo and Tycho a couple days ago, but HTS upgraded me to FedEx overnight free! ;D
I thought I had posted this in recent purchases...
-

I think the McQuarrie Rebel Trooper and the Rebel Honor Guard are close enough to work. However, I found the neck post on the A-Wing pilot is too long and with both the McQuarrie Rebel and Rebel Honor Guard heads the new "character" ends up looking like they have the neck of a giraffe.
Maybe I'm being too picky. I would have loved to mix and match A-Wing pilots, Rebel Honor Guards and McQuarrie Rebel Troopers like this. Heck - throw in the Naboo Soldier too (although that would have meant that the Yellow version from last year would have also worked too)
-

If you don't have a dremel, use an appropriately sized drill bit to scoop out that extra bit to make it fit better. Takes 5 seconds to do by hand.
-
I've done that many times myself, Anton. Very, very easy- you just have to be careful to not push too hard or too quickly so that the drill bit doesn't come out the top of their head!
-

I appreciate the suggestion, however, I'm horrible with the dremmel - perhaps it's cause I'm not patient, I'm not sure. I'm always worried that I'm going to end up ruining the head and then it's no good on EITHER body.

That's why I don't use the drill, just my hand and the bit. :P

He looks like he's doing his George Bush squinty impersonation though as the A-Wing Pilot...
