Watto's Junk Yard / I'm gonna be a dad!!!
« on: May 13, 2008, 08:43 AM »
As many of you know, my wife Amber and I were supposed to have a little one this month, but for some reason unknown to us she miscarried at 14 weeks back in November.

So, when Amber told me she was pregnant again, we were very excited, but yet extremely cautious for obvious reasons.  Well, yesterday we went in to get a sonogram and she's at 9 weeks and our little one is doing fine!!  The due date is in December, so this year looks like dad won't be getting his usual birthday hookup with "stuff", but instead with a little one. ;D

We are most excited, yet again, cautious and praying that we don't have to go through another miscarriage.

The time has come to sell off my beloved customs.  At the moment I'm selling the TIE/X Ugly that you can see in the link above.  It's made from a vintage TIE Interceptor and vintage X wing.  I've bolted the wings to the top of the fuselage and the TIE solar panels have been bolted to the wings.  You can also see from the pics that I've glued numerous pieces to the ship as well.  I got those pieces from a number of sources, GI Joe, knock off GI Joe (can't remember the name), some vintage Star Wars parts, and modern Star Wars parts.

For this ship, I'm asking for $100 OBO.

See this link over at RS to view pics of the snowspeeder.

I'm also selling my custom snowspeeder.  This is assembled mainly from a vintage snowspeeder with some various pieces added to it that I had sitting around.  I'm asking $50 for this ship.

All prices include paypal fees.  Shipping for each ship will be $15 for each one.  I will include delivery confirmation and insurance.  I will pack as carefully as possible.  However, I can't guarantee all the pieces will remain glued to each ship through transit. Luckily, I used either model glue or super glue in most cases and it should be easy to reglue any parts that do manage to fall off.

Watto's Junk Yard / Lincoln thought about buying slaves' freedom
« on: March 5, 2008, 02:00 PM »

Interesting read, and as a historian the possibility is absolutely fascinating.   I don't think it would have worked though.  The war wasn't just about slavery, it was about the right of a state to secede or nullify a federal that they felt hurt their economy or did nothing to serve their states best interest.

Watto's Junk Yard / Discharge Day
« on: March 1, 2008, 12:30 AM »
Well, today was the first day for me to be a civilian in 8 years. 28 Feb 08 marked the end of my TOS with the USAFR and i was discharged from the Individual Ready Reserve. It felt kind of wierd, no phone call, no emails or anything. I'm just waiting for the paperwork with the DD214 to show up.

I kind of have mixed feelings. I'd go back in a heartbeat, strap on my gear and march through the gates of hell with my buddies. At this moment, my USAFR unit has a squad deployed to the sandbox. I was already IRR when they deployed, but talked to a handful before they left and I just felt like I was sitting on the sidelines and watching. I'm excited that I no longer have the concern of call up and deployment and time away from home hanging over my head, but I have friends in a foreign land and they are without me.

It's an odd feeling.  I guess any vets on the board know what I'm talking about.

Watto's Junk Yard / Oscar's anorexic looks
« on: February 25, 2008, 09:12 AM »
Did anyone watch this thing last night?

I'm not a big fan of Hollywood's I love me attitude and all their awards, but my wife was watching so I'd look up from what I was reading from time to time.  Is it just me, or did all the ladies presenting look like they were anorexic and unhealthy?  I mean, many of them looked like a skeleton with skin.  I think everyone enjoy's a thin woman, but come one, go at a hamburger.

LEGO / Need Lego Millenium Falcon help
« on: February 21, 2008, 12:35 PM »
I'm not sure what model I've got of the Millenium Falcon.  I think it's the one that came out in either '05 or '06.  I've got a a cockpit that fell off and I can't seem to get it back together.

Can anyone help me out either with the paper directions or hook me up with downloadable ones?  I've looked on the Lego website and can't seem to find the directions.

Watto's Junk Yard / How many presidents can you name?

Stumbled across this on another message board that I frequent.  I got 35 my first time through.  Luckily I named all but two through the first part of US History, the part that I teach.

Watto's Junk Yard / Prayers for my wife and I
« on: November 14, 2007, 03:39 PM »
It's odd how quickly life can change. I have been so excited the past 4 months that my wife was going to give birth to our first child in May. We went to the doctor on Monday for a checkup and sonogram. The sonogram showed the heartbeat we had seen in the previous two was no longer there. So this morning my wife had surgery and thankfully is resting now after the two of us have been pretty much sleepless since Monday morning.

For those of you that pray, please do so. We were so excited and thought we were out of the "dark" time of pregnancy only to have this happen. Only those who have had this happen or have kids can understand how truly devastated we are.  Sadly the next time she gets pregnant, we are going to have a constant fear hanging over us.

Vintage Trading and Classifieds / WTB Bootleg and baggy Han Solo
« on: September 3, 2007, 11:32 PM »
I'm looking to expand my foucs a bit.  I'm looking for bootleg vintage Han figures.  I've got an unarticulated Polish Han and that's it.  I'm looking for loose figures.

I'm also looking for bagged Han figures.  I don't care about bag variations. I'm just looking to get one of each Han in a bag.

Shoot me a PM if you can help me out.

Watto's Junk Yard / I'm gonna be a dad!!!!!!!!!!
« on: September 3, 2007, 03:43 PM »
Yesterday afternoon, I head off with a buddy to take some batting practice (I'm playing softball in 3 leagues in the DFW area) and she takes the test.

It obviously comes back positive and I'm freakin' thrilled to death.  For you dads, you know how high I'm flying right now.

I've got a Saga X wing that is complete and I'm looking to get rid of.  I am also including a POTJ Luke pilot as well.  This was used strictly for display and was either on a shelf or hanging from the ceiling.  As of the last year it has been disassembled and put in a box.

I'm looking for $50 shipped for it, but will always negotiate.  Please PM me because I don't normally cruise down to the modern classifieds.  I'm more than happy to ship overseas, but the shipping will be a little extra.

Collections / Vintage Han Solo run
« on: February 5, 2007, 06:39 AM »
Okay, because I don't want to have to go through and reload everything to village photos from RS, I'm just going to send you to the RS page where I've already got the stuff loaded up.  Enjoy, after about 3 years, this is what I've put together.  You know how it is, you post at one site, you have to post it everywhere.

I've got a vintage Han on each cardback.  Example, Original Han on SW, Bespin Han on ESB, Endor Han ROTJ, Carbonite Han POTF, etc, etc...

Enjoy.

I have finally completed this thing.  It's been almost two years of off and on work and finally I've finished this thing.  Here's a teaser pic for you and follow the for the whole gallery of pics.  The pics range from picking parts, to some painting, and through some of the construction.  Although not all of the constructions is documented.  I know that some of the parts may be mounted a little crooked, I did that on purpose for the most part, but not all of them.  Remember, it's an ugly.

Follow this link for the full gallery.

Watto's Junk Yard / How many softballers do we have here?
« on: September 29, 2006, 02:10 PM »
Lately, I've taken a rather large hiatus from collecting and have r  arely been visiting the net for SW related stuff.  I've spent some good SW money on a couple of softball bats.

I've played a ton of ball, 2-3 nights a week from spring until fall, but until this year never got ate up like I am now about playing.  I can't wait for game night to get here.

Anybody else around here play ball?  Anyone very serious about it?
