Check out this eBay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-Episode-III-Chewbacca-Bust-limited-edition_W0QQitemZ6592261465QQcategoryZ98027QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) where a Chewbacca Bust was sold that was a gift from Lucasfilm.
Here's the description:
The Item is in Mint Condition. It is made out of Resin, weighs 4.5 lbs. & stands 9.5" tall. The bust lies on a smooth, black Stone Base.
ILM's Richard Miller's name is etched into the back of the bust (see bottom photos). It comes with the original box & green packaging paper.
It'll be interesting to see if more of these show up.
...edit. Apparently RS posted this earlier, but there was no mention how many were produced. I'm kinda curious to know.

Chewie looks in pain.

In all honesty I'm suprised it only went for $69.00.
-
Looks more like the legendary Big Foot than the first mate of the SS Falcon. ;D

From that picture, I'd have to agree with you. But this pic makes it look much more appealing:
