Watto's Junk Yard / Do you post on a regular basis???
« on: January 23, 2003, 07:09 PM »
I have to admit that while I enjoy reading news in the forums and on the news page, I rarely find the time to post.

I have found great news updates, store updates, area updates, and websites that have Star Wars "stuff" at great prices.  I've met  great people and have had wonderful trades with other SW collectors.  I have learned how to surf the Star Wars turf at great speeds all because of awesome sites like Jedi Defender.

Won't all of you silent surfers make a resolution with me to try harder in 2003 to share your SW insights with the rest of the SW community so we can be deemed worthy of our call in life:  to be devoted SW fans!

In 2003 let's unite and have our numbers in the replies section outnumber our numbers in the view sections.   MTFBWY  8)

Thank you for letting us know what he can do.  It sounds like you are having fun with him.

I'm afraid it's too expensive right now.  I hope after the hustle and bustle of Christmas I can find one for a reasonable price ($40.00).  Then I will be able to afford one for my son!  ;)

Thanks for the advice on scanners.  I'll relay it to my other half!  ;)

I'd love to share Chris, but we don't have a scanner.  I've put it on my list of top three wishes for Christmas from Santa though.  So there is hope in sight!  ;)

I have to see them for myself before I decide to pick them up for my son.  But they do look cool!

Before Thanksgiving we were searching Wal-mart diligently for the Cantina Bar scenes, but when I finally saw them at a Wal-Mart, we passed.  We already have the figures, and we already have the bar scene cardboard playset.  We can make a cool bar scene without the stools.  We may pick up some down the road just for the new figures though.

I guess I thought after seeing all of our work that there wouldn't be too many parents helping their children either.  At least that's the idea I got when I told people we were entering.  Many adults thought I was crazy!!!

But like I said, I'm now ready for other contests.  We have our collection counted, documented, photographed, and we have a presentation ready to go!

We will try again!!!   ;)

I wish I knew.  I really hope that they looked at all of the entries and didn't just decide quickly to get it over with.   :-\

Newbies / Newcomer/Not!
« on: December 16, 2002, 11:15 PM »
I feel weird saying that I'm a newcomer.  I wrote in at the  forums before this site was called JediDefender, I entered contests, and I read wonderful news related items.

I'm excited about the new site though.  It's really cool!  You guys are doing a great job with coverage and with a great web design.

I will try to write in more when I find things of interest to talk about.  But please know this, just because some of us don't write, but like to read instead, doesn't mean we don't like what we read, cause we do.

This site rocks!!!

LEGO / Re:LEGO it is.....
« on: December 16, 2002, 11:09 PM »
I've always called it Legos too because that seems to mean more than one.  But I believe krisvds is correct and the proper terminology is Lego.

We stand corrected!

LEGO / Mini Tie Fighter offer
« on: December 16, 2002, 11:07 PM »
I was one of the lucky ones to get the free Tie Fighter Lego from StarWars.com and Lego.

I had renewed at the Fan Club but they wouldn't let me get one because I renewed before their deal.

I was bummed, but then I saw the opportunity at Star Wars.com and we got ours in the mail about three weeks  ago.

Now the Fan Club e-mailed me and wants to help me get one too.  Go Figure???

I guess two are better than one!

Saga '02-'04 / I can't believe we didn't win!
« on: December 16, 2002, 11:02 PM »
Hi Everyone!

I'm very sad tonight because my 7 yr. old didn't win the Hasbro Star Wars Young Collector's contest.

We worked for 3 months setting up, taking down, photographing, displaying, writing, and trying to come up with the coolest presentation we could think of to win.

I think I'm more disappointed than my son, because I know the time and effort we all put into this trying to win this for him.

My husband is in unbelief too.  We really thought we had a winner.

But I have to say that I am happy for the child who did win the grand prize and the child who won for our State.  I'm just bummed tonight because we didn't win anything for all of our efforts.

We will rise above this saddness though, and we will keep trying to win.  It just may take a few times before our presentation gets noticed!  ;)
