I personally dislike the mini line.I think there is no imagination-no fun. :-[.But,for lego its probaly good because, less pieces, the less it costs to make. What do you think?
-
they aren't bad... I kinda like them :)
-
Hey,you know Chris Berry doesnt have mods for this part of the forums? You and I might be able to mod this.I just got done emailing him about me becoming a mod.You should to.
-
I need something that you can do more with than 10 piece lego sets.Like the Republic Gunship and the UCS.You know sets that take a while to build.
-
just done :)

I saw some pictures of the mini's on another Star Wars related website, and I didn't really care for them. But, being a huge Star Wars and LEGO fan, I'm sure I will buy them all.
Are they available for purchase, and if so where?
-
This has been reported over at scum that The first 5,000 people from the U.S. that register at the LEGO site, after going from the Starwars.com site will get a FREE Tie Fighter mailed to them!
Check it out here:

I just wanted to add to that great tip that the tie fighter is a mini-LEGO kit... not the full size version that they've had out for a while. Nonetheless, it will make an excellent addition to my already nice sized LEGO collection (Star Wars, of course). My mini tie fighter will be here soon!
Yeah baby!
-
Your lucky to get one dustrho.
Only available in the US.
I'm from Canada so I guess I'm out, unless someone is very nice to get me one. :)

Looks like us UK resedents are out of it too...drat.

I just tried to sign up for one and I got a message saying that it was unavailable at this time. :(

Well, apparently nobody's actually commented on this line with the initial 4 releases in hand so far...
I picked up a couple of the Tie Fighters from the 5,000 entry gig that Lego did last month. The Tie-Fighter was pretty cool, but fairly simple in design, so much so that I put the thing together without actually looking at the directions (that was certainly a Lego first in my life).
But, I picked up the first four mini sets two days ago at Target ($3.99 each), and I've got to say that these sets are absolutely COOL! Especially when you think about the price - $2 for each individual ship (even less if you factor in the fact that you're getting an extra fourth of a Tie Bomber in each set). They come in a small, clear, upwards standing package. The detail in these things is absolutely amazing considering their size and price. They pretty much mirror all of the features in the Hasbro toys. It's amazing what Lego can put together in such a small amount of actual pieces. We're talking rotating guns, opening X-foils, articulated Scout Walker legs, etc., etc.
All I've got to say, is pick them up if you see them. If you're a fan of Star Wars, Legos, miniatures, or any combination of the three, you won't be disappointed! This is most definitely my new favorite line, and I look forward to many more vehicles from it. You'll be quite surprised with the detail and authenticity in these tiny little ships. Awesome!
So, what are you waiting for...?!
-
I've seen pictures of the mini 4 sets. They look cool & getting a Tie Bomber combination with it is sweet.
Thats a great price you got them for JediMAC.
Can't beat that. :)
Not sure if they are going to show up here in Canada so looks like so far, I'm SOL again. :(
-
Just say the word, and I'll shoot you a set of them Dale! Probably run you about $22 bucks (U.S.) with shipping to send them up your way...
UPDATE: Okee doke Dale, mini-line heading your way soon!
-
I wanted to add that although I think these mini-sets are really cool, I'm mildly annoyed at Lego for the way they're getting that mini-Tie Bomber vehicle out: By dividing it up into 4 parts, and including one quarter of it in each of the first 4 lego mini-sets. Simple English: you have to buy all 4 mini sets, to make a complete Tie Bomber.
Certainly a clever marketing strategy on Lego's part, but it bothers me since I only collect the Original Trilogy stuff when it comes to Legos - no Prequel Legos. Well, obviously that little selective shopping method of mine is now out the window, since I've got to pick up two Prequel mini sets here in order to get my complete OT Tie Bomber. Bummer. Oh well, at least they're only $4 a pop, so it doesn't put me out too much more. And like I said, these are really cool little sets - even the Prequel ones, and especially the Tie Bomber!
On a side note, if you're looking into picking this line up, take note that the Vader's Tie/X-Wing mini set seems to be the hot one and is already becoming HTF in my area, so snag that one if you have the chance. The other 3 sets are sitting on the shelves at several of my local Targets, so no apparent worries with those...
-
I think it is a great marketing ploy for LEGO. Naturally, I bought them all! (Including Tantive IV, and MINI TIE) ;D
-
found thel, but OVERPRICED ! I am waiting for cheaper ones...
-
Here's a Star Wars Lego picture with some of the new mini-sets in it (second shelf). Thanks to JediCrippler for pointing it out over at GH. Looks like there's a Republic Gunship, AT-AT, Battle Droid Carrier, and a Millenium Falcon. I believe the next ship to be "put together" through the purchase of all 4 sets (like the Tie Bomber) will be the Y-Wing. Cool to see Lego continuing to hammer out these mini ships. Love 'em!

These are very nice pictures of the new Mini sets.

Great looking mini-ships again! Of course, since these sets contain much larger ships, you only get one ship per set, rather than 2 like in the previous wave. But that's fine with me. Plus, you still get that extra quarter of a Y-Wing in each set as well, just like with the previous Tie Bomber. Very nicely done Lego folks, keep it up!
-
I like all the new mini's in the picture that DSJ provided, but the AT-AT looks like crap. All the other ones in that picture looks really good.
-
What the heck they were free, why not?
-
I use to have all the Star Wars Legos. But in 2002 I started to get away from them. I like the lego line and all but they take up so much room. So I only have a few sets now. I have purchased the mimi lego sets but ended up giving them to my nephew. I will just stay with the large sets that I like.
-
The mini sets are very cool for what they are. I like the fact that you get the extra pieces in each kit as opposed to buying 2 of each just to make the Tie Bomber.
-
I wasn't excited about the mini due to teh fact i thought the mini tie was lame once I got it. BUT, when I did get the 4 mini sets, my mind changed. The AT-ST/Snowspeeder pack is my favorite. I think all the sets are really neat. I am really looking forward to the summer ones, as I think it will be interesting to put together those scale of vehicles :)
-
The new wave of minis (AT-AT, Millenium Falcon, MTT, Republic Gunship) have arrived at shop.lego.com!
http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?prod_id=K4488 (http://shop.lego.com/product.asp?prod_id=K4488)
You can order them seperately, or in a four pack! They're also availible in Europe.
-
I wonder if they will be available up here. The last Mini's showed up here at Sears & Safeway. They look very nice & I will be getting a set. 8)
-
I'll wait for these to hit the retail stores where they should be a bit cheaper I think. Does "Lego shop at home" usually mark up their product a bit more than what the stores charge for the same thing? The first four mini-sets went for only $3.99 a piece in stores, so I'm guessing these would be close to that amount, rather than the steep $6.99 price that Lego's site is charging. Great little sets though! 8)
Lego's site isn't even working anyways! >:(
-
Actually this new wave is suppose to retail for $6.99 so they should be the same price once they hit retail. I think the reason for the bump in price is due to the models being a little bigger and having more pieces than the first wave.
Either way, put me down for at least one of each of these. ;D
-
Sounds like the new series of Mini-Lego vehicles is hitting retail stores now, so keep your eyes peeled for them folks! This wave includes the Republic Gunship, AT-AT, Battle Droid Carrier, and a Millenium Falcon (with a Y-Wing that can be built if you buy all four of them)...
Drop a line in here if you're lucky enough to find 'em!
-
They had the new Mini's here at our TRU's but I have not seen them so far. They did have the price tag bar on the shelves. Think they were around $12 here. If they had any, then they went fast.
-
They've hit here at TRU but were all but gone by the time I was there. Found a lone Gunship yesterday and an MTT this morning at a different TRU. Passed on them both for now. I'll grab them when I can get them all at the same time.
-
The new Minis, the AT-AT, and the Hailfire Droid have shown up at the new Targets that just opened around here. I ordered everything from shop.lego.com though. :)
-
I haven't seen the new stuff in any Target store yet, but hopefully they'll pop up soon.
-
Sounds like Wave 3 of the cool mini-line is just starting to hit, according to a fella's RS report from Oregon. As a reminder, this wave includes the Sith Infiltrator, AT-TE, Imperial Shuttle, and Star Destroyer. $6.99 each, like the last wave. I don't think there's an extra vehicle that can be assembled from these sets this time around though.
Happy Lego hunting! 8)
-
How the hell did I never post in this thread?
Anyway, I love the mini line and have all the sets released up to date. Like Matt and others have said, the detail is superve for things of such small size. Looks like I'll have to start looking for wave III now. I'm just disappointed there is no extra ship with this wave :(
-
I haven't seen anything yet, but the Minis look excellent! The Shuttle is definately my fave. Not too excited about the Star Destroyer though. I wish there was a 5th model too, but you can't always get what you want I guess.
-
Sorry for another new topic here everyone, but I've just been trying to catch up on some Lego stuff today, and have a few questions. I've seen the "MINI" vehicles/ships mentioned around the forums here, and didn't see an actual topic for them, so I thought I'd start one. These seem to be pretty universally liked around here, and from the few pics I've found of them online, they look pretty cool. I guess aside from hearing about the "free TIE giveaway" awhile back, I've been pretty oblivious to these. Can anyone help to educate me further on this line? What has all been released so far, do you like them, which are the best, etc? I've found some info on FBTB.net, but I was just curious what some of your thoughts were on them. How easy is it to find older sets? I always kind of liked tinkering around with Legos, and this might be a good, cost-effective alternative for me getting into some SW Legos slowly. Thanks for any info on this line that you might have, or just your general thoughts.

Hope that helps you out. :)

Thanks so much for the info Diddly. I remember seeing the first couple of these a long time back, but I've never really collected LEGO so I didn't pay too much attention. These look like they could be some neat, fun little sets. I'm going to attempt to start with the Falcon, since that is the one I'd like the most, and try to pick it up for cheap on ebay. We'll see how it goes. Do you collect this line (or anyone else)? If so, what do you think of them?
-
I think I'm going crazy here...
Where'd our regular Lego Minis thread go?!? I swear we had one at some point, with some decent discussion in it. :-\
BTW, LOVE this line and really wish they'd bring it back to life. Have 'em all so far, and would love to fill out the collection a bit more with some new stuff.
EDIT: OK, I'm not going crazy. After missing it the first couple times I looked, I finally spotted the thread floating around on page 2. Phew! (and merged) ;)
-
The mini sets are awesome, but with the 2005 wave being exclusives only, not even available on Lego Shop at Home...that really sucks. I know that the mini ships were popular, with most of the waves flying off the shelves when they were first issued...I really wish they would revive the mini ships with some of the other ROTS ships. I think a Greivous Wheel Bike, Droid Tri-fighter, maybe a the Wookie Catamaran and an AT-RT...there are a lot of options to continue the line, including a B-Wing, an A-Wing, and others...it could be so good, even at 4 per year...
-
I picked up my first of this line last weekend, finding the Falcon at our TRU (and on clearance even). This is the one I wanted the most, and I'm thinking about picking up some more as well. I think this line is really great, and I'd like to see it continue some too. Even if it was just in a limited capacity of 4 or so per year, as mentioned earlier. Definitely some fun little sets.
-
I totally agree. I don't actually have that much LEGO, but the MINIs are just too neat to pass on - after a couple of pending purchases in the works, I should have them all. I was really hoping they would have done a ROTS lines of MINIs, because I would have bought those for sure.
-
I've sort of been watching ebay lately in hopes of picking up the other (OT related) MINI sets that are out there. I picked up the Falcon only when these were originally released, and really liked it, and have had a renewed interest in LEGO lately so I've been looking at these again. I always wanted to pick up more, but just haven't found and/or gotten around to it since then. Anyways, how much is too much to pay for these things? Are they fairly rare or difficult to get a hold of? I've sort of been starting off looking for the X-Wing/TIE Advanced, Snowspeeder/AT-ST, and AT-AT sets - and many of them seem to be fairly highly priced on ebay (at least currently). Just curious if anyone had any advice.
-
Hey guys, kind of late to the game here too, but wanted to share a bit of good karma. I had bought a nephew the 2003 Wave 2 sets years ago and forgot all about it. My sister came over yesterday to celebrate my oldest son's birthday and she brought all four of these over as a 'bonus' present for him and his brother. So now with these four, the five recent Target sets and the ROTS Anakin Starfighter, they are up to 10 sets.
I'm thinking of trying to track down the others like Brian indicated below. Any thoughts of how bad this is going to set me back?
-
Sorry, one other question, are the 2002 TIE Fighter and the 2010 Target TIE Fighter identical? Would like to know if I should try to track both down or not even bother...
*edit*
Nevermind, I found the original and answered my own question... I like the new one better, but will probably try to track the other one down...
-
You can probably find most of the poly bag minis for about $5.00 to $12.00. Some of the Brickmaster exclusives might run a little more. Most of the older boxed minis can be gotten for around $10.00 to $20.00 depending if they are new or used. I would suggest looking at bricklink.com, you can probably find some good deals there.
-
So I've been on a buying spree with Legos lately. Ended up picking up a bunch of the mini kits and bought the pieces (or reasonable replacement pieces) to the Brickmaster sets on the Lego web-site for a fraction of what they would have cost me on ebay. The best part is, my kids won't be able to tell the difference between the original bricks and the ones I had to substitute to complete the sets.
Those sets are sweet! I'm glad I ended up tracking down the pieces/directions.
-
Hey, don't know if anyone is interested, but part of Target's reset for Christmas is their usual isle of stocking stuffers. Included is the X-Wing mini kit which was last out for Easter (I think). The whole bin seemed to be only X-Wings, so I passed on getting any. I was hoping that it would be something new, but maybe in a couple weeks...
-
Ended up doing some Christmas shopping at Target today and my son noticed that there was a peg full of Republic Cruiser mini-kits by the register. Those were the only ones he found though.
-
The bump reminds me, I really need to find a mini ship list...
I'm opening the advent calendar as the days go by, and loving the micro ships. Maybe even cooler than the mini ships in their own way. Chewbacca's bowcaster and tool caddy are flat out lame though.
But it's been a fun set so far, if not maybe a little pricey.
-
The SW Advent Calendar was on sale at TRU for $30 (may still be). Even then, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. It's a cool concept and all, but seems way overpriced.
That seems to be the MO with Lego recently, especially on their licensed themes. I saw the new Superhero sets at TRU and the 78 piece Batman / Catwoman motorcycle set was $18. Granted, that probably includes TRU's markup since I think they're the only store getting those right now, but still.
-
Yeah if I see the advent calendar after Christmas for a decent enough discount I'll pick it up. If not, no big loss. I really just want a few of the minifigures (but that's also every LEGO set, heh).
I need to look for a list of mini sets too, I know there are some I missed out on during my LEGO hiatus. I've actually seen a few red/white packaged sets at the local grocery store I might pick up.
