Sorry for making a separate thread about this Jeff....figure looks awesome!
-
No worries Matt, just trying to keep things organized. ;)
I like how they have rebranded these "world building" sets and no longer are calling them "deluxe".
$26.49 price. Are all the extra accessories worth making it cost 2x time a basic figure? ???

Thanks for the pics.
First, the bitching -- $27 for this? The other 3 were only $21.
With that out of the way, oh, dang, that face sculpt is incredible.
Hope online ordering is as smooth as the first 3 boxed sets.
-
That Boba is everything that the Black Series figure should have been. Essentially the same accessories that the SH Figuarts figure has with it.

CASH. GRAB.

CASH. GRAB.
And I'm ok with that.

Yeah, something tells me we'll get nine different versions of Boba Fett before we'll get nine other figures from The Book of Boba Fett.
While I appreciate getting different versions of the main character (same as The Mandalorian), I'd prefer that we'd get a whole lot more supporting characters instead.
-
The figure itself looks ******* perfect.
The price... not so much. Twice the cost of a basic figure and more than a 6" Black Series figure for what, two dinged up stormtrooper helmets and some flame effects for a jetpack?! This is not worth more than the other 3... (I'll still buy it.)

Gotta pay off the R&D on that failed HasLab Rancor somehow... :-X

I keep coming back to the VC162A Armory pack Sith Trooper and the VC177 Din Djarin with the Child, both of which had comparable amounts of accessories and a price point below $18. This $26+ price tag is a bunch of bull****. The prices for the other Deluxe figures like the new Ahsoka or the Incinerator Trooper seem like they were picked at random.

Agreed this price seems too high.
The other deluxe figures were Wal-Mart exclusives, so probably a drunk monkey missing a few fingers was typing in the prices... ???
-
Amazing figure but total trash in terms of the price and presentation.
Just wait for the slightly altered single card regular release too. We’ll all be $40+ into two figures before we know it.

Now $18 just gets you a "carbonized" repaint. ::)

At least the Kenner Retro Collection version is only $11.

I will personally give the Stormtrooper with E-WEB a pass because of the size of the accessory. The power generator alone is a very sizable accessory that would never fit on a basic figure card. The same goes for the size of the Maldo Kreis set with Din Djarin, Grogu and all of the spiders, along with the size of the card and blister. Is the new $20.97 pricing on Deluxe figures based on the size of the package?
I think that the Carbonized figures were a marketing exercise:
-Give a retailer an exclusive
-Use existing tooling to minimize costs
-Raise the price to see what the market will bear
Collectors took the bait! They paid $17.99 for what would otherwise be a TVC basic figure, but with a shiny finish and thicker cardboard. Call it FOMO, call it collecting addiction. Hasbro and retailers took note, and here we are now. But it seems like collectors might have had their fill of this kind of blatant repainting, because I've seen wave 2 of the Carbonized TVC line sitting, and it is still readily available online.
But the bigger issue seems to be Boba Fett. Are we looking at a Boba Fett tax because of the popularity of the character? I still remember the 300th Boba Fett back in the POTJ era. From a sculpting standpoint it was a big step forward. But in terms of articulation it was on par with other figures of the time. And it cost almost twice as much as a POTJ basic figure. Is this new Tatooine Boba Fett the modern equivalent of the 300th Boba Fett?
So where does the line get drawn on price? I saw so many vocal reactions to the price on Boba Fett yesterday. I was one of them. But then FOMO comes into play and I know that people are going to buy it. I don't think that I'm any different. But crap like the Carbonized collection? Keep it, Hasbro.

After being disappointed with the value proposition of the Deluxe offerings from last week (excepting the Cannon set, which I found to be acceptable) this Boba Fett figure is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I love the look of the figure, the GI Joe joint structure fits this design perfectly (as compared to Lobot, for example, who looks horrible to me with all the joint cuts.)
I also applaud them for making a Boba Fett figure that will ship in its own solid cases as opposed to being the chase figure in an assortment.
But I'm not gonna pay double what was already a high buy-in to get this one. I'm not even interested in purchasing this Boba Fett at this point, and it might just have cured me from wanting to chase these modern figures at all.
Again I ask--if we've got a $27 TVC pricepoint how come we can't get a TVC Bluurg out at long last???
-

Heck, if people pay $27 for a deluxe Boba Fett, how about a $20 all new TVC figure of a secondary character? I just want something really new, and a lot of it. Quarren mechanic, Frog Lady, Trapper Wolf, etc.

I like Dave Filoni a lot, and appreciate what he has done for Star Wars. But a TVC Trapper Wolf isn't worth $20!!!

New figures are up on Amazon.
-
Not available until July 2022? Wow.
Fennec is not available until October!
-
GS says March for both
-
I ordered Boba Fett through clenched teeth from Amazon. The listing said July.

Same, with a backup order on Pulse that I'll cancel when Amazon gets their shipments in 2 months earlier than Pulse.

A little late to the party thanks to a stupid work zoom meeting.
Boba Fett Amazon Link - https://amzn.to/320plnA #ad #referrallink
I grabbed Fett via Amazon and burned up some reward points in the purchase. So big thanks to my wife for doing a lot of our holiday shopping on Amazon and earning me a free TVC Boba Fett. ;D

LOL! I did the same thing. At some point retailers are going to pick up on customers doing this and change the terms of presales.
-
I just ordered on Pulse cuz I couldn’t find him on Amazon and said f it. He’s sold out there now.
-
Had a solid afternoon of meetings and seem to have missed Fett. I guess that's the world's way of telling me I don't need to drop $24 for a single new 3 3/4" figure.
-
Glad to have one pre ordered. I'll live that it's a bit over priced. I'll be ready to get outraged if the deluxe line becomes a regular line full of over priced new figs. Not yet
-
This price would have been good if the accessory had been that throne he’s sitting on in the trailer.
-

GameStop still has bud

Don't tell me these things. I was trying to talk myself out of buying it...
I ended up going with Gamestop since they have free shipping at $35. Since Boba alone doesn't quite make that cutoff (even at his current pricepoint, ::) ) I added another Death Squad Mando to get up to the shipping threshold.
-
Amazon says my Tatooine TBOBF will be here Thursday. Can't wait for a closer look to see if he's really worth the $26+ :P
-
I'm eager to see this figure. I also ordered from Amazon, but the tracking information isn't showing my order having been shipped. I guess we'll see when Thursday rolls around.
-
Got the Thursday email as well.
I could see a really well done figure getting up to $20 or something like that... can't imagine a scenario where $27 seems right for this one. Like, is it 80% or 90% better than a regular release?!
-
....and my delivery date just got moved back to July 10th.
-
July 12 now for me. 🤷♂️
-
So they moved it from 7/5 to 6/30 only to turn around a couple days later and push it back to 7/12? Lame. ::)
-
Always in motion, the pre-order is.
-
After all this Amazon back and forth, Pulse just charged me for this one. So I guess I’m canceling this July 12 Amazon preorder…
-
I also got charge for my Pulse order.
-
From 6/30 to 7/10. A <finger snap> later and eta for Fett is now 7/2. ???
-
******* Amazon. Originally I had ordered two of these from Hasbro Pulse and another two from Amazon. But good sense got the better of me and I couldn’t find a good reason for ordering four of these. So I canceled the Hasbro Pulse order.
My Amazon order arrived today. And I was shocked by how small the box was. I opened it up, and what did I find? The cardback folded behind the box section on both of them. WTAF???
-
Mine just arrived at BBTS.
-
Got mine an hour ago. No QC issues that I can see. But... after looking at it, my opinion that there is nothing there to justify a $26 price tag stands.
-
Also, why do the stormtrooper helmets have neck pegs? Are they meant to attach to something?
-

You can swap heads with the current Stormtroopers. I get the concept, but it seems like those smashed helmets would be better suited as an accessory to a Boba Fett (Tython) figure where he just decimated those troopers with his Gaffi stick.
-
The inclusion of the Stormtrooper helmets is just weird, and I agree that the $26 price point is a total ripoff. They should have left out the two helmets and cut the price by $8. The helmets aren't worth $4 each.

You forget about the Boba Fett premium markup.

I mentioned to Tim at Bossk's Bounty when he did his review that I bet these heads would look good on the Remnant Stormtroopers. Nice to have a little variety there.
-
I saw this figure at FYE in the mall today, they had one hanging on a peg in there little Star Wars section, not with the other main section of action figures.
They wanted $45.99 for it. :-X
Down the street at a little collector store I had neve been to before, they had three of them on the shelf, for just $27.99.
I am still holding out for a better price, but I think if I run into the Morak Fett at Target I might bite just to have a Mando version of him, but even that price is making me leery, especially after Koska, Mayfeld, BS Galen, BS Saw and BS Merrick all just hit clearance prices.
-
There's an FYE near me that I've checked out a couple of times. While it was nice to see figures in stock, it was largely the reissues. And the prices were not exactly competitive.
As for that Tatooine Boba Fett? Amazon has it for $26 and change. I thought I saw it on sale recently on either Dorkside or Old Republic Collectibles for under $20, but it seems to be sold out.
-
If you haven't picked this up yet (or just want another for some reason), it's on sale at Amazon - $18.49 -> https://amzn.to/3A3Hqia
