This set is on sale at Amazon right now - $58.95

Bah, I feel bad for the people that panicked and bought these at $100.  I bought one for $80 and even that feels like a bit of a rip off now.

I'm still concerned about people swiping things from the packages, so while more pack-ins would be cool that's also just one more thing that can go missing.  Starting to feel like I might have to go 100% online ordering with this change and even then there's still risk.

Are you ale to post a generic sponsor link for EE and Amazon, so that a user could click the link then order anything on the site and JD would get credit?  Or does the link need to specify certain items?  My family buys a fair amount of other stuff on Amazon, so I wouldn't be opposed to just clicking the JD link first if it would help fund the site.

Generic #sponsored links exist on the front page - I know the front page is pretty dead these days but it does still have some good info on it.

Perfect - thanks!

The Vintage Collection / Re: Vintage Collection Rumors
« on: April 25, 2022, 03:10 PM »
I am dreading the possibility that Hasbro will charge $26 for the Dark Troopers, which is frankly insulting considering the droid is almost all black - can't use the "premium deco" excuse with us, Hasbro.  Army building at $14 per figure isn't cheap.  But at almost twice as much per figure?  I might top out at 4 of these.

Can I just say that I love how your tough stance on these prices is to possibly limit yourself to only four of them?   ;D  I don't know what Hasbro is doing, but Nick seems to be the one who's actually world building here...

I got an email alert from Hasbro Pulse that this is back in stock.  But the one per customer purchase limit is still in place.  I would have bought one if not for that.

So if the limit was higher you would have bought one, but you won't buy one because you can only buy one?   ???  You are a man of principle Nick.

As for the sponsored links, you should post those as often as you're able.

I try, but like you said, things move SO fast that it is hard to get the links and get them posted before everyone has already had to order or miss out!

Plus, the only sponsors we have left these days are Amazon and EE (who no one uses anymore unless it's a last resort because of their shipping costs/times), so we miss out on anything Pulse, Target, Walmart, Dorkside, etc.

Wow, that is random.

Almost as random as "Buy two Lukes, get a free rabbit!". :P

(Yes, this is also #sponsored - sorry, but I gotta pay the bills)

You called it - basically stuff everyone has extras of.  Wish I had not bought these initially as this is a great deal versus full price, but I don't need any of them now.

As for the sponsored links, you should post those as often as you're able.  I don't mind using the links to support JD or promoting your sponsors at all!  The bigger problem for me is that things sell out so fast, I'm not as likely to wait for a sponsor link or even look for it once I hear something is available.  I have been burned waiting the extra few minutes.  Heck, I would love a general "Here are out Sponsor link" if that's possible to just get in the habit of using that instead of going directly to the site when I'm racing to order.

Well, I bit the bullet on a couple of missing grails from this line recently.  I have a mostly complete 6" Black Series collection, along with a bunch of variations and extra troop builders.  I even collect the different product code variations between standard issue release and multi-pack or archive figures.  But when I started this line I didn't intend to get everything.  I skipped out on both the EE 4-pack of Phase II clones (figured they would eventually come out in individual boxes and/or I didn't need all the skittles colors) and the Emperor with Throne (picked up the regular release and didn't think I'd care so much about the extra heads and throne).  In the last week I picked up both via Best Offer on Ebay for fairly good prices.  Both are really cool sets and I'm excited to finally have them despite the inflated prices.  Reworking my 6" shelves a bit to work them in.

I think they have a "reasonable" solution for TVC by packing the cardback with a box.  Heck, they could go full mission fleet and put the whole thing in a box with a minty cardback on the inside.  Then people have a figure and a cool vintage minty card despite not getting the sealed package.  It's something at least.  I'm really curious to see how they do the ROTJ 6inch figures though.  The appeal there is the packaging and it's part of a larger set with the ANH and ESB figures.  Not sure how well received those would be in a "special box" when it doesn't match any of the others and they're all figures that you can get in other boxes.

55
I get not using the plastic, but couldn't they still include a small window/opening to see a little bit of what's inside?  The new Transformer line has this where there isn't a big enough to steal anything, but you can still see part of the actual figure inside to know what you're getting.

These days its all pre-orders where I have no ability to control any of that and get what I get from Amazon/Target.com.  I don't think I've purchased more than two figures at retail in the past two years.

I'll miss the 3.75" bubbles and the nostalgia of the form factor, but at the end of the day this doesn't really get me too upset.  If I'm going to get upset about something with the figure line I'll spend my time bitching about the lack of truly new figures.

^ This ^

If I find something in person I pay pretty close attention to the paint details, eyes, etc. and have passed on figures I need because of bad paint issues.  But now that almost everything is preorder, its a total crapshoot on what you get anyway, so the packaging is even less important.  My biggest concern is getting hosed by re-packers and returns.  We already see a fair amount of people stealing BAF parts or swapping figures with the bubbles - is that going to get 10x worse when you can't even see inside the package?  I'm going to be suspicious of pretty much every package that didn't get mailed directly to me or didn't come straight out of a case.

I nabbed Ahsoka, Death Trooper, and Armorer at Target this week, but they all came on crushed cards.  From talking with a couple different Target employees it sounds like they are not getting full cases, but rather these are coming in the repack boxes.  So finding them in good condition is goin to be even harder with these split cases.

58
Got my Ahsokas from Amazon today and picked up a few credit collection figures from Gamestop today.  Funny how different the selection is from one Gamestop to the next.

Target is starting to ship Mando wave 2. I got a notice for Beskar Mando due to arrive by end of week with the rest coming by end of next week.

Ugh, Amazon preorder still says AUGUST.   >:(

I recently traded for a Plo Koon figure, which arrived yesterday. Just need to track down Kit Fisto and a Geonosis Battle Droid and I'll be done with the red/black numbered line

Are you just looking for boxed or do you collect loose?  I think I have a loose BD and still have the box and inserts, but its opened.  Ping me if you're interested.
