I've created a FREE Fantasy Baseball league for up to 8 People who want to play
#1 Autodraft
#2 No Head to Head, basically once you set your lineup every point that player gets at each position is applied to your team, person with the most points at the end of the year is the champion
#3 162 games per position
Scoring (which I can still modify):
Batting
1 point 1B
2 points 2B
3 points 3B
4 points HR
1 point RBI
1 point R
1 point SB
Pitching
5 points W
-5 points L
1 point K
-1 point BB
-1 point ER
5 points S
5 points Shut Out
Pretty simple all you really have to do is change your line up as guys get hurt or don't play
1 C
1 1B
1 2B
1 3B
1 SS
3 OF
1 Utility Player (Wild Card)
5 SP
2 RP
7 Bench
1 IR position
Things can still be changed up until a week before the season starts (March 30)
Who wants to play?
-
I'll take the whole Yankees team. Thanks.
- M
-
Im in! Having problems signing in though ??? And i'll take the BoSox.
-
We're not drafting whole teams :P
You need an account at Yahoo I think to join (which is free)
Step 1 (http://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.src=spt&.done=http%3A%2F%2Fbaseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com%2Fb1%2Fregister%2Ftos)
Once you are signed in hit this:
http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/joinleague
Ahhh, now you need the league ID# which is:
64918
Password: jedidefender
THat should do it
-
Thanks Scott! Needed the league ID ;D
-
I'm in.
My team's name is: Dressel's Rebels
So when's our draft? And what's it like, can a player appear on more than one team etc?
-
No, one team per player...I'll set the draft date when we get at least 6 teams, shooting for 8 though
Basically you have to rank players by position (1 through whatever) and say how many of each position you want to take. The computer then drafts your team for you
-
Okay, well, we've got 3 teams and counting...
-
Fine. Then I'll take the Tigers then. Thanks.
-
It could be worse, you could take the Texas Rangers.
-
You're right Matt. I think I better go with the Devil Rays instead.
Scott, please tell me when I've won. Thanks.
-

Scott, please tell me when I've won. Thanks.
Check your email a few decades from now :-X
-
I signed up for the league. Sarges Sluggers.
-
Anybody know when we enter our draft preferences by?
-
It has to be done by the time I set the draft date, I'm hoping for at least 2 more but hopefully 4 more teams. The season is a ways off so we have some time. I will try and set the draft day as close to the Opener as possible :)
-
6 teams and counting!!
-
Sweet, hoping for at least two more!
-
Hi,
I'm in (if you'll have me).
Just signed up my team...
Jeff
-
1 more!!
Now this is going to be fun.
-
OK, I'm in - I've got the 'topes registered. Anyone who dares challenge me for the cellar of the league gets banned over at GH. ;) :P
-
That's 8! Set the draft date OCB! Any chance that we can do a LIVE draft?
-
That's 8! Set the draft date OCB! Any chance that we can do a LIVE draft?
Soooo...anyone want to think about doing a live draft...we could do it a couple of different ways...
Via a chatroom over a couple of different nights
On the forums here (Maybe Chris could set us up a Private section on the forums here to conduct the draft post by post) If we start soon we should be able to get the picks done by the time the season starts)
Schedule a 4-5 hour time when everyone's available and do it through Yahoo
Thoughts????
-
Dressel Rebel and Kingkirk04 are both for it. Live draft all the way. Any way is fine, we could even all go on AOL instant messenger chat or through a JD thread or whatever.
-
For me it all depends on the date and time. I would like a live draft if possible. The post by post is best for me as the chat room doesn't always work for me.

What he said ::)
-
Well, I've asked Chris to set up a special Forum section for us, I'll keep you guys posted as to what is happening ;)
-
Well, we can't make a new section for the draft...how about we just use this thread as long as everyone is registered here?
-
Scott
Thats sounds fine with me.
-
Okay, sounds good, we'll use this thread.
Now all we need to do is figure out the order that we're drafting in, and the date.
:D
-
We don't neccessarily need a date, we'll just keep picking players one by one until we're done by replying in this thread...I'll try and contact the two mystery men today to sign up here
-
We don't neccessarily need a date, we'll just keep picking players one by one until we're done by replying in this thread...I'll try and contact the two mystery men today to sign up here
But we're going to need some sort of order to pick the players, so we all know when it's our turn to pick a player and post it here. I could see the draft being held up for hours and days at a time while we're waiting for the person ahead of us to pick, in any given round. But it'll work, we have 3 weeks until opening day.
So how do we pick the order that we should draft in? Will it be 1 to 8 in a cycle, or 1 to 8 then 8 to 1 then 1 to 8 like that?
-
Yeah...1 through 8, 8 through 1
Dressel, since you are here, put the numbers 1 through 8 in random order...

#6 Old Cocky Bastards (OCB = O)

#8 Sarges Sluggers (Reconsgt = rs)
22 Rounds (I cut a position) (33 picks out of 154(121/14 days = 8.5 picks per day)

And BEGIN!!!
Round 1
1st Pick:
Alex Rodriguez (3B/SS)
-
Whoever Anakin's Rebels is, I will give that person until tomorrow morning at 8 AM to show up or else I'll delete their team and we'll play with 8 (unless someone else wants in and let me know ASAP)
Jeff you're up
-
Jeff you're up
With the Number Two selecetion in the 2004 JediDefender Fantasy Baseball Draft, the Nataku Dragons are pleased to select:
Albert Pujols (1B/OF) - StL
-
And now we wait...at least until AR shows up...anyone have any clue on who that is????
-
At least this gives me some time to think about my selection at #4. ;) Scott, are we still planning on using the point breakdown that you mentioned on page 1?
-
Yeah...I'm open to changes though :)
-
::jeopardy music::
Ohhhh Anakin's Rebels?
::jeopardy music::
???
-
Okay, it's 9 AM. Anakin's Rebels has been dissolved.
Matt Carroll's turn to pick.
And BEGIN!!!
-
Oh.... :-\
I wanna pick again so bad...
Jeff
-
Todd Helton - 1B, Colorado Rockies
-
Kingkirk! I know I told you about this thread yesterday, but I wanna make sure you know it's your turn.
-
Hmmm.. I'll take Mark Prior
-
Alfonso Soriano - 2B Texas Rangers (for now)
-
Maybe we can all agree on a time on saturday or sunday for an hour or something and crank out a few rounds at a time, otherwise this is going to go really slow.
Anyhow, Rebeltrader goes, then Reconsgt two picks, then Rebeltrader again.
-
Well I am free most of tomorrow so if that works for anyone else I can make extra time to be online. If it works that way soem one PM me or add me to your AIM and let me know. my aim id is wigreenberet
-
OCB, I think you need to officially make Alex Rodriguez my SS, instead of 3B. He doesn't qualify at 3B yet and I'm going to keep him at SS for the entire season.
-
I'll take Nomar Garciapara :)
-
Ok with my 1st round pick I take
C. Delgado 1b Toronto
With my 2nd round pick I Take
Manny Ramirez LF Boston
-
OCB, I think you need to officially make Alex Rodriguez my SS, instead of 3B. He doesn't qualify at 3B yet and I'm going to keep him at SS for the entire season.
Gotcha...I'll be around off and on all day today, waiting for you Jim
-
I'll take Sammy Sosa. BTW guys, I apologize for my absence of late. My mom is in the hospital with terminal cancer and it has been taking quite a bit out of myself and family. But Im not quitting on you. Lets play ball!
-
Oh man Jim, that really sucks, my thoughts and prayers are with your family. Don't worry about this stuff...you need to do what you need to do.
I'll take...
Vladmir Guerrero OF Anaheim
-
Rebeltrader- My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. That is really tough to deal with.
OCB- I noticed that Carlos Delgado is in Reconsgt's outfield. I believe he has to be put at 1B or DH because last season he played 147 games at first, and 14 at DH, but zero in the outfield.
Kingkirk's pick.
-
Scott, If I am not mistaken Delgado is at 1B. If he was moved to the outfield let me know
-
yeah my bad :-[...
-
No biggie Scott, just checking. Thanks for switching him.
-
Pedro Martinez
-
Matt Carroll and Nataku -
I will be posting my 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick immediately following Nataku's pick today, I'll be around the PC almost all day. I'm ready to go when you are, which means that you two will get to pick your 3rd rounders almost right after your 2nd round picks.
Stay tuned :D
-
I am locked and loaded and ready...
Jeff

You're gonna get to fire off 2 picks pretty quickly right after Matt Carroll takes his second rounder.

-
here's an idea...PM the team who picks next after you...Jim you're up again buddy ;)
I was thinking, if you're not picking your current player it's because you're not at your computer and therefore wouldn't see the PM either. I suggested to 3 members (1 being myself) that we all swap phone numbers, which is more efficient. 2 of us swapped, the other one didn't want to, and that's fine. Wayne (Reconsgt) and I will give our phone numbers to the rest of you, but at least 1 member doesn't want to. I'm not at home right now but when I get there I can drop the digits to the other members. Anyone else who wants to get buzzed when it's their turn to speed up the process, PM me your number.
The other thing we can do is to meet here for 1 hour next weekend or a weeknight and just rip through a few rounds, cuz we have 22 rounds total and we're only in the 3rd, opening day is March 30th.
-
I'll take Jeff Bagwell.
-
Ok with the final pick of round 3 I will take:
J Lopez- Catcher Bal.
and with the first pick of round 4
Jeter as my SS
-
Thanks for the prayers out there guys. My Mom passed last evening. Toughest ordeal of my life. Fortuneately she did not suffer long. My next pick i'll take Roy Hallady.
-
Sorry to hear that Jim, this really is secondary to everything you have going on at home. Hope you and your family are doing ok with the loss of your mother, glad to hear she did not have to suffer very long. I can only imagine what you are going through, my continued thoughts and prayers are with you.
Don't worry about this at all, we'll get through when you have the time to later, OK?
-
Rebeltrader - You've got a PM.
-
I am sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Jim.
Jeff
-
I'll take Kerry Wood (p)
-
Garrett Anderson
-
Matt Carroll's up.
I'm ready to rumble with my 4th and 5th round picks, so it's gonna go real fast right back to Nataku and Matt Carroll again after Matt Carroll picks his 4th rounder now.
-
Jim, another PM heading your way friend. :'(
With my next pick, I'll take Mark Grace. Thanks.
Who's up now?

Matt Carroll's up.
-
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers folks. Its unfortuneate that things like this have to happen, but its fortuneate that we ALL go through times like these and have friends around that can ease the pain. Right now the best thing for me to do is carry on with the things I enjoy most and remember the good times. Lets play ball.
-
Are you saying Mark Grace is on drugs Matt?! No way... I know he hits some bombs from time to time, but he ain't juiced like the rest of the fellas... ::) Besides, Mark's from Tustin, like me, so that makes him a supa-star!
Sorry, just saw Matt C up there and figured it was my turn... Give me a holler when you guys are ready for me, 'cause I've got some more hot picks ready to go! 8)
-
I'm terribly sorry to hear about your mother, rebeltrader. :-[

Then Rebeltrader again.
:D
-
Just a heads-up for ya all...
I'll be at the Hockey Game tonight (Wild v. Ottawa), so there'll be no posting from me between 6pm-10pm.
(just in case the draft gets back to me between now and then)
Jeff

Same for me- I will be offline from 4:30 to about 9 or 10
The wifey and I will be celebrating our 4 year anniversary :)

Congrats Wayne!
I think Dressel's idea of scheduling a time on the weekend where we could whip through a few picks is a good one...we on track right now to finish before the season starts, but with different schedules it is taking a little while...I'm available most nights after 9PM Central and can make a few hours on the weekend work if need be...
-
I am going out of town this weekend... Leaving around noon on Friday, back Sunday afternoon.
Taking a weekend trip to celebrate my wife's Birthday.
So, Friday doesn't work for me. But Thursday does.

Okay so it sounds like Dressel, Nataku, OCB all can this THURSDAY 10 PM EST March 18th.
This might be an issue with rebeltrader. But everyone else reply. Maybe if tomorrow night, Thursday, doesn't work, we can do Sunday night the 21st at 9 or 10 PM.
-
Thursday will work for me. I will make the time.
And thanks Scott for the congrats
-

OCB
Dressel
Nataku
Reconsgt
We need to hear from Matt Carroll, Kingkirk (I'm sure he can), and Rebeltrader.
Reply here :D
-
I'm acutally going to be out Thursday night watching some of the NCAA basketball games here in Denver. I probably could do Sunday night, but there is an outside chance that I'll be heading out of town this weekend. I'll know for sure by midday Friday.
-
Okay, new plan then :o
Monday night, March 22nd, 10 PM EST
That's just 1 week before opening day.
Reply here if you can make that day/time.
(In the meantime, Rebeltrader's up)
-
I can do Monday night (the 22nd).
Jeff

I can also do Monday night.

You don't know the power of BALCO!!!
I'm thinking of renaming my team the Balco Stars

BALCO stars looks good now, but not when Sheff, Giambi, and Bonds are in court around the all star break.
-
Wayne...I had Eric Young and not Michael Young on your roster, I switched it, you're now good to go, sorry :-[
-
Not a problem Scott. Thanks for the catch as I didn't even realize it :)

Does anyone remember which of the owners of the 7 teams in our league drafted Sheffield, Giambi, and Bonds? It slips my mind...

SAN FRANCISCO -- The samples from drug tests taken last year by Barry Bonds and six other baseball players have not been destroyed and can be retested to determine if the players used a designer drug at the center of an alleged steroid-distribution ring, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The seven players in question testified before a grand jury last year, and investigators had been seeking the results from the drug tests. It was believed that only written reports existed, but The Chronicle reported on its Web site Friday night that four sources with knowledge of the subpoena process said the actual urine samples remained and could be retested.
That would allow investigators to determine whether the players used THG, which was allegedly given to athletes by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative.
If the drug tests prove to be positive, MLB promises to sit all players involved for the season, if not served with banishment for life.
Bonds' personal trainer, Greg Anderson, was among four men indicted last month on charges of illegally supplying performance-enhancing drugs from BALCO. All four pleaded innocent.
"I don't have any concerns that this would be legally significant to Barry," Bonds' attorney, Michael Rains, told The Chronicle.
The other players who testified before the grand jury were Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Jeremy Giambi, Benito Santiago, Armando Rios and Bobby Estalella.
The subpoenas for the tests are due to be returned next Thursday.
-
I got 4 good games out of them
-
Damn some of our best starters got shelled silly opening day!
-
Whew and MLB won't retest for THG!!!
Go BALCO Go!
Twins won a great game tonight...Walk off Home Run by Shannon Stewart. And believe the hype on Joe Mauer...he is a natural...20 year old natural
-
Stupid Team BALCO kickin' ass 'cause of Bonds... >:(
Anyways, how many points is it for "finding a dead body on your property"? It may be the only points I'll get out of Larry Walker until mid-May.
-
I am tempted to award you 100 bonus points for that one Matt :-*
-
I am tempted to award you 100 bonus points for that one Matt :-*
I'll support that. Give him 100 points, then take Foulke, Gagne, Helton, Beltran, Dunn, and I-Rod and divide them up over the remaining 6 teams.
Done deal.
-
Wha??? No bragging from Dressel on being in first place??? I'll say Sheffield and my staff have been sucking it up lately

With the conclusion of yesterday's play, the season is 25% over. We're halfway to the All Star Break. Here is the first of 4 Quarterly Updates on the JediDefender Fantasy Baseball League, courtesy of Yahoo Stat-Tracker.

My team rocks at singles, SBs, shutouts.

PS. You didn't obtain your BALCO triumverate just by accident, I purposely stayed away from Bonds (back), Sheffield (thumbs), and Giambi (knee). Steroids do, indeed, impair your ability to heal.
mwuhahahahahhahahhahhaaa!!!
