Okay, folks, here's the deal with the
Indiana Jones prices this week:
Best Buy: "Hot Price" ($44.99)*There is an exclusive bonus disc at Best Buy, included on-pack with the box set. Here's what their ad has to say about it:
Own all 3 Indiana Jones movies for the first time on DVD, a 4th bonus DVD Making The Trilogy, PLUS a Best Buy Exclusive 5th DVD Raiders Of The Lost Ark Classic Featurette. This disc has rarely-seen footage and exclusive scenes featuring the cast and crew of this beloved film. While supplies last. Minimum 250 per store. No rainchecks.
People have been reporting that the bonus disc is around ten minutes long. I have no idea what exactly is on it, or how good (or lame) it is, or if most of the same stuff is covered in the fourth disc in the box, or if this will be available elsewhere in the future. If you're a big Indy fan, though (as I think a lot of us are), it might be worth tracking down.
Target: Low Price ($45.99)*Free 12-pack of Dr. Pepper with purchase of the Trilogy
Toys 'R' Us: $49.99*Don't bother
Circuit City: (reportedly) $49.99*Don't bother
Wal-Mart: ?*I'm assuming that most Wal-Marts will probably beat Best Buy's price of $44.99 by a few cents, so it might be worth checking there if you don't care about Best Buy's bonus disc.
Eckerd: $34.99*Yes, you read that right: Eckerd. (I realize that not everyone has Eckerd stores where they live.) Now, if you do have Eckerd stores in your area, here's the deal: They've got the fool-screen version (light brown box) pictured in their ad, and reportedly, that's all they'll be carrying. So, more than likely, no widescreen (dark brown box) at Eckerd. However, I would imagine that you could probably take an Eckerd ad to a store that price-matches, like Best Buy or Wal-Mart, and have them price-match Eckerd for $34.99 for you. Best Buy may or may not do it, since they have the exclusive bonus disc, but who knows. It's worth a shot. It's been my experience that Wal-Mart is usually pretty pain-less when it comes to price-matching, too. I wouldn't think that anyone would give you a problem with price-matching the widescreen version, either.
Fry's: (reportedly) $39.99*Fry's is an electronics chain in the southwestern states, and I don't have any where I live, so that's all I know.
Costco: ?*I don't have any Costcos in my area, either, but apparently they've got some kind of deal going on where if you buy a two-pack of some DVDs, you get a coupon for $10 off the Indy set or something, which would apparently put the Indy set at around $30 or so. If you've got Costcos where you live, this might be worth checking into--sounds like a decent deal.
Online stores*After a quick check at
DVD Price Search, it looks like the lowest online price for the set right now is right around the $45 mark (this is, of course, not considering any coupons or discounts you may have).
