Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gotta raise 'em right!

Sorry I'm late Tracy... was in Houston... okay, I can relate... I think it's somewhere on here about the time my son (at around 3 years old) threatened a guy stocking the meats at Wal-Mart with a "You'll be dead!"...
and how until around a year ago, when I asked him what the name of the Millenium Falcon was he would always answer "a piece of junk!"...
he used to go to sleep with a "buddy" Wampa, and now it's the Darth Mickey Sharon sent me...
Opening toys I warned him he would be upset with the AOTC Super Battle Droid- since it just falls apart- he didn't believe me until he opened it and saw... now he goes through the cards and says "Mommy, does this one fall apart?" before he'll choose it...
And, of course, you are a Star Wars Mom or Dad when something gets lost under the couch, or under the bed and your first thoughts are "Hand me that lightsaber"... and it's to retrieve a clone trooper- or in the last case Lando's- head...
or, the best... when his teacher asked him things about his mommy to write down for Mother's Day- the question was "My Mommy's really smart, she even knows..." and he answered "all about Star Wars"... :)

Its official -- according to the 4-year-old.  He's the Scarecrow, the 1 year-old is Dorothy, I'm the Wicked Witch and the hubby is the TinMan.  Gotta figure out how to throw together a Tinman costume now.........................  :-\
How cute :) What I usually see is a light foam fitting w/ some silvery cloth covering it.  :) must post pictures :) but why the Wicked Witch and not the good witch?

Same here... If he is with me and the corral is more than two cars away, I'm leaving it- as carefully as possible, however.
Last year there was a woman who actually had her baby stolen (I don't remember if it was with the car as well) while she put the cart away.  The heat/cold is enough for me, but with that, it just makes it worse.

Annoyances.  Okay, I have one of those.  I just went through all my eobs last night for the cancer center to verify how much I was being billed.  They short-credited me for $100 that I paid in June and it's not showing.  I used to just pay whatever they said I owed, figuring they billed correctly... now I know better... and this isn't the first time.  My doctor's office does the same thing all the time- found an error with them yesterday for $75... so called and they corrected the system... $175 that I wouldn't have had if I didn't check...

I don't think I'm dressing up, except for donning a purple wig.  Just to make kids pay attention to my son instead of my head.
This is my son's costume- he put it on as soon as he got home.

Time for an update here... I went to one clinical trial doctor, and I would have had to gone on a waiting list for two months, etc, and the oncologist never called me after looking at my scans like he promised.  I had heard back in the meantime from MD Anderson.
For anyone who knows anything about cancer, that is one- if not THE top cancer research/hospitals in the world.  So, I've been going there.  They told me that they can't cure me either, but they hope to put my body in remission, however, they feel that it will return back as my cancer marker (which is some blood test that I can't explain) is off the charts- it should be under 30 and my number is 1780.
Anyway, they have suggested 6 rounds of chemo, no radiation.  I've gone through two- the last was last Wednesday.  My hair is coming out, so I buzzed it off.  It gives this really bad burning sensation and it's driving me crazy.  That and my hormones- because they have been frying up my woman things I'm in a menopausal like stage, complete with hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, bloating, etc.  They are giving me the neuplasta to prevent my blood counts to drop, so that's good.  I've been trying to keep my blog updated, so if you want to keep up more, you can visit it there.  I just hate bringing this back up, but I guess I should on occassion keep you guys updated.  Oh, and I moved back with my parents so that they can help me with my son as necessary.  So, it's great, we get more time together.  He's currently enjoying opening my collection since I don't want to store it.  He's got Dexter, Kit, Jango, Luminara, Obi-Wan (AOTC) all fighting a Geonisian Warrior... Oh, a Clone Trooper has just been added to the mix... And he sleeps with his Darth Mickey (thanks again Sharon) every night :)
This was last week... before my last chemo, I've lost more since then... and yes, I'm grimacing...

As I said earlier, my wife is a HUGE fan and is anxiously awaiting the movie.  We've watched the whole thing on DVD (first time through for me) and are all set.

When the topic of going to the movie on Friday came up, she said to me, "This is what it must have been like for you and Star Wars".   ;)

Too bad she can't come down here and see the movie with me in Austin :(  Well, actually, if she has frequent flier miles or whatever and the time, I'd be glad to pick her up at the airport and drop her off- of course :)
As long as she can handle my drooling over Mal...

Looks like the Sci Fi channel won't have all the episodes aired by this Friday when the movie premiers.  Guess I'm going to have to pick up the dvd set.

Not a big deal, since I planned on doing it anyway.

Ok, Ok, so I didn't find this old thread, sorry!

BUT The Sci-Fi Channel is doing a marathon of shows this Tuesday starting at 11AM CST and running until I think 9PM when they show a special about the making of the movie.
:P

Watto's Junk Yard / Serenity now!
« on: September 25, 2005, 03:41 PM »
I'm so excited to see this movie THIS week.  I became a fan just a month ago when I rented the show off of Netflix, and now I'm about certifiably insane about it- ask name, he'll tell you.
Anyone else a big fan of this series?
I still want to discuss the series, movie too... but also have a request.
I need a date for the premiere.  ;)  Okay, so not really a "date"- but someone to go with, but let me explain.
I entered a poetry contest on Ain't It Cool News last week to win 2 tickets to a premiere this Wednesday (8pm) in AUSTIN.  Now, 1) Austin is around 4-5 hours away from here.  2)  I haven't been able to find anyone up here who is available to take off work to go down there in the middle of the week with me.
Okay, so what's the big deal about the premiere?  Well, Summer Glau and Jewel Staite (River and Kaylee from the series) will be in attendance, and are doing a Q&A after the film.  It's also held outside of Austin actually, in a 'secret location'- some sort of western set actually OUTSIDE.  They have those huge moveable screens and all - and will have full consessions including Chinese food, beer, etc... So, I just thought that was really neat and I'm such a fan now and have so very little good things happening lately, that I thought this would be something.  I figured if I won, then I would go, if I didn't win, I wouldn't even buy or try to get tickets, kind of leave it up to some sort of destiny.
I'm going with or without someone, but I have family worried about me going by myself as far as the drive, which I can understand, but I'm a safe driver, and it doesn't bother me.  So, looking to see if anyone in North Texas wants to go so I don't have to drive by myself, or in lieu of that, if someone around the Austin area or wherever wants to come in (because they are a browncoat lovin' fan) and meet me there.

For 10 years.

Yikes.  I'm getting old, and I've wasted far too much of my life online.
10 years?  and you are saying you are getting old, blah blah blah???  That's nothing... I feel like a grandma next to that...

Well, whippersnapper, I remember when Prodigy was only in around 5 cities and we were glad to have it!  You didn't even get to choose a name, you were assigned 4 letters, a number and then another letter.  I think I was vxtn28c.  Yeppers.  The C meant I was a kid, since A goes to the primary and B goes to a secondary (like dad and mom). I was actually 18 and going to college at this time.   And we were glad when we actually got colors besides blue, gray, white and black on our screens!  And we were MORE than glad when we finally moved from 1200 bps to 2400 bps... Why, we could leave the room and do something else before the next screen would come up.  And don't even ask how many online divorces I had already been through by the time you were typing in your little "n/name" thing!
tsk tsk tsk... young'uns...

I've seen on more than one site that the man that died in the car accident- the one that wasn't saved by Jack- is Mr. Rutherford-  Shannon's step-father.  However, I don't know, if Shannon's last name is Rutherford, I would think it's actually her father- not stepfather- and allowing Boone's father to marry her mother and causing all the resentment she has about that.  What's Boone's last name?
And the numbers on the bottle that Desmond injects in his arm- the infamous lottery numbers as well...
and the quarantine was marked on the inside of the bunker, meaning the island is actually under the quarantine...
Unfortunately, I missed some parts of the episode trying to get my son to bed... I'm hoping for a re-run soon...

I've been thinking about this topic some lately... I'm not sure what I'd want... I don't want everyone crying... a friend of mine suggested some sort of SW song, but I don't think so... I'd like something maybe traditionally Celtic, but that's a bit depressing...
hmm...
