With the VOTC concept, it might have made sense to make that "director" version of lucas. I just hope these are prototype shots and that it ends up being more VOTC like.

I've found nothing so far in Minneapolis, but I do have a question. Do the genosians stand up fairly well? I don't want to drop $7.00 on another one to lean on the wall-

Does any one know where the HOF(ailrures) line up will fall into this schedule?

I wish we had seen Qui-Gon as a spirit during Yoda's meditation in ROTS. It would make good continuity. Maybe in the ROTS SE  :P

I know some of these are re-releases, but I would have to say
Cleig
Owen
Beru
Padme (blue outfit re-release)
Anakin

These five could be a SWshop exclusive like the Lucas clan.

A few aliens from Dexter's would be nice. Those backgrounds were rich with characters, but they didn't get caemra time like the aliens in the New Hope cantina.

I've had a red shirt tell me that if it is in back, it is supposed to stay in back. I told him that was a very interesting approach to retail, and to enjoy his life.  ::)

Minnesota seems to be stuck between waves at the moment, but I did grab another AT AT driver and hoth gonk to add background pieces. It is tough to think about multiples at $7.00 each with the number of figures coming out.

Kubricks / Re: Attack of the Kubricks!

kubricks on the bay have been going crazy, and I may have to rethink how many of the older chases I want to pursue, if any. Just a reminder that I picked up my blue snaggy from Spankys, and it went smooth as could be. That $116.00 or so is looking like a bargain now, so check with them if you are still hunting big blue.

I am glad to see the AFA auctions all sitting without bids (except a lone darth, and hopefully that buyer wises up and realized he can get it for a third of that price, shipped).  I can't wait to see the auctions start for the AFA blue hologram figures.  :D

That is a great sentiment Jesse.

Case assortments may be market driven (and by market here I am speaking of the retailer rather than the end consumer), but even case assortments invariably lead to stores ordering less cases. All it takes is 1 or 2 slow movers in a case, and in 6 weeks there will be 16 of them on the pegs, and the store computer will tell them not to order anymore because they aren't selling. The case assortments lead to peg warmers, which lead to less stock ordered, which leads to higher prices by Hasbro (a smaller number of sold figures must generate the same revenue).

Give me a mail away or direct order option for my army building needs. My damn death star closet is overflowing with troopers, but I will buy more anyway if they have some decent articulation and are priced reasonably. Bring back the plain- boxed stormtrooper sets with 4 VOTC Stormies for 30.00 and watch them fly out the door. We probably all have the carded one we need, now give us the grand army of the imperial empire and let the applause begin!

They could pull the gentle giant trick and throw a chase figure in there too. Every third box has a Han stormtrooper, Luke stormtrooper, or Georgie. While I don't like the chase figure business, at least it would give them a vehicle to get those items out to collectors.

That SWS.com price is pretty good, I was expecting 135-150 before taxes and shipping. The EE price is 120, and it isn't often SWS.com beats them. I put my order in, because I fear the "1 of each" factor is going to make finding bikerscouts and raiders even tougher. On another thread I expressed concern that a plan like that could not only encourage scalpers, but reward them. If you absolutely have to have 1 of each, they can effectively hold a figure hostage. I know some of the HW sellers around my area have connections at stores to cherrypick the cases. They will be sending the bikerscouts out the back door as well.  >:(
So.... I bite the case bullet for the VOTC clan. I don't give a rat's *** if I ever see a silver base or gumball toy accessory. If I see a foil carded AT-AT driver, I buy it as an anomoly to add to the collection.  :-\

And then I sit back and count the days til June, when the beautiful Kubrick people will again impress us with their creativity, ingenuity, and attention to detail. And thank Hasbro for convincing me to put most of my money elsewhere.(Choppers? Goofy robot ships? Tiny preposed junk packs for $10.00? Force Battler whats?) But there isn't enough capital to take a chance on a new ship.... ::) )

The way I read the Hasbro blurb, it made it sound like the Lucas stormtrooper was going to require the sticker from  "1 of each" of the new VOTC. At $13.00 a pop, I didn't plan on buying 1 of each. I love the idea of mail-aways as a reward for collectors. A bunch of gimmiks that make collecting tougher and more expensive does not interest me very much. Like Jedijaybird said regarding some other Hasbro BS, "why don't you slap my grandma while your at it?"

My apologies to the hot wheel collectors out there, but this is just what I feared. A renewed interest in Star Wars by the local hotwheel scalpers. I'll get them if I see them, but these will create a  temporary buzz in the fleamarket crowd, and make the hunting tougher.

Kubricks / Re: Attack of the Kubricks!
« on: February 6, 2006, 04:30 PM »
Just looking at the pics of Series 6 and reading back at some of the old lists, maybe the next couple of waves are movie specifc as well. For empire we could get:
Snowtrooper
Ugnaught
Lobot
Bespin guard (lame)
Hoth Luke
Hoth Leia
21-B
Bespin Leia (chase)

for ROTJ:
Royal Guard
Biker scout
Rebel commando
Gamorrean Guard
Ree Yees
Imperial Dignitary
Chase Holo Yoda

The Empire list looks kind of weak, but that flick didn't have the diverse life-forms that New Hope and Jedi had. I can't see them making a probot, wampa, or tauntaun. Any other ideas?

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Hoth Wave
« on: February 6, 2006, 09:47 AM »
Maybe it's the AT-AT sucker in me, but I think this Hoth wave is one of the best groups of movie and planet specific figures put out in the modern line. Take away general John Kerry, and you have 2 new and improved army builders, 1 imperial officer with armor, a brand new rebel officer, a cool droid two pack, and the obligatory vader and R2. I returned my carkoon wave, and picked up 2 more at-at drivers, an extra snowtrooper, an extra veers, and an extra droid pack. Despite my new years resolution against keeping carded figures, the Hoth wave will be an exception.  ;D
