Kubricks / Re: Attack of the Kubricks!

I just found my chase Han and Ponda in the mail today  ;D - Combine that with my 400% Stormie set (Thanks to Jeff  8) ) and it has been a very pleasant Kubrick week.

Madcow, which cantina band member are you looking for?

Everything around them was the biker scout/hoth sets, so I assumed they had just been re-released. I suppose it could have been old stock, I'll check back their tomorrow over my lunch and see what they have left-

I would love to see a hammerhead and Garindan. I was just ranting on the bust-up page earlier about chase figures, and was trying to put myself in a zen sort of mode- only collecting what I find and not going crazy to find/buy/bid chase figs. Well, put those two out as kubricks, and say goodbye to plan zen.

So from the original 12 vintage figures, we now have
Chewbacca (EB)
R2D2 (EB)
Leia (EB)
Luke (EB)
Han Solo (series 2)
Jawa (Series 2)
Tusken Raider (Series 2)
Obi Wan (series 2)
C-3PO (series 3)
Stormtrooper (series 4)
Darth Vader (series 4)
and now....
;DDeath Star Trooper (AKA death squad commander) (series 6) ;D

I may have to get a mastercase this time around...

Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Bust Ups!

I know what you mean about "dumping" the variations. Chase figures seem to have become more of a marketing ploy than an incentive to collect. They are almost becoming an incentive to not collect the line at all.
That being said, I think gentle giant is doing great work, and it has gotten better with each series. I'm going to try to go "zen" with all of this, and accept the chases I do find, but not make getting each one imperative. I received two Ice versions in the case of 18 I bought. I am not thrilled with Luke, but the Wampa is cool. They will be enough for me.
I like the GITD set, because it seems "retro" in its' own way, even if the figures lose a lot in the translation. They remind me of something we would have looked for in our frosted flakes around 1978.
I would rather see these chases "Gree, blackhole, etc" be offered as mail-aways for proof of purchases. Then you as a company are rewarding the people who support the line. The current system seems to reward speculators and frustrate their real customer base. I'm beginning to feel the same way about Kubricks, and may cut and paste a portion of this rant over in that forum.

Is there any difference between the carded and early bird R2-D2's?

If you are a gentle giant newsletter subscriber, check your emails. They are offering the holiday salicious crumb and sets of the ice deco bust ups on their web site to subscribers. I don't want crumb myself, but thought some of you may be interested-

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Bonus Mini Hologram Figures
« on: January 14, 2006, 03:03 PM »
Mine are still carded, but I have:
Emperor Palpatine x 1
Darth Vader x 2
Darth Maul x 0
Stormtrooper x 2
Boba Fett x 1
Count Dooku x 0
Queen Amidala x 0
Han Solo x 1
Luke Skywalker x 1
Rebel fleet trooper x 1
Obi Wan Kenobi x 1
Yoda x 1

I still have 4 figures from the hoth wave to find, so hopefully I can find the 3 I need.

I went to TRU Maplewood Minesota, and they did have about 20 of the Johnny Lightning cases after I took 6. They were 5.99 each.
Those are some impressive displays guys, not to mention collections. I find myself sinking deeper into the Kubrick vortex...

I finally went and opened all of my kubricks (they had been stowed away still in the bags since the early bird kit) and put them out. They are fantastic! I now consider myself a happily suffering kubrickaholic.

Now I am finding myself eyeing those 400% guys... ::)

Happy New Year everyone, and thank you to the Jedidefender staff for keeping up such a great site!  ;D

I lucked out and found a Clone 4pk for sale which included Gree at a local collectables show. The seller had opened up all the sets in his case and came out with two Gree. He was selling each 4pk w/ Gree for $30.

Nice find! I received my battle damaged packs from SWshop Saturday. One had the orange clone in the window, the other blue. I did hit a gree, it was in the box with the orange clone showing. I guess I hit the jackpot, since I got both versions of the arms between the two as well. I know griping when finding a chase is kind of lame, but it does leave me one clone short of a set. At least with the blackhole stormtroopers they were a bonus, and you still got 3 regular stormies.

Happy New Year everyone- and thank you the Jedidefender staff for keeping such a great site going!!
