Hasbro Panel confirms Elite Praetorian Guard [repack], SOLO Lando [NEW], Imperial Stormtrooper (Rogue One) [NEW], and one more figure will make up 2019 Wave 2 (targeted for April 2019).

Oooh that Stormtrooper!! Back in the day that was an easy army builder, now I will have to settle for only a couple at today’s prices. But damn is it not sweet!
-
That looks like an amazing take on the Stormtrooper. And it was nice to hear Hasbro talk about how well received the helmet was on the ROGUE ONE version of the Stormtrooper, and a desire to put that on a TVC Stormtrooper.

Probably won't go too crazy on that Stormtrooper since he has a bit of dirty deco, but I'll probably be adding 4-6 for my Jedha Tank set-up. Very nice figure. Lando is awesome too.
-
I've said three or four times I'll never buy another Stormtrooper, and then I buy three or four of the newest version. Same here. Lando is great as well. Looking forward to this wave.
-
The trooper is nice...I’ll need a couple to escort my tank. If it was a clean version, I’d probably go broke!
Lando looks cool. Will look nice next to the new Solo.
-
Great wave. Looking forward to Lando, and while I don’t need any more Stormtroopers, I’ll try to get a couple.
-
I hope Hasbro is working on the yellowing problem with the Stormtroopers. As you all I know, I have about 300 Stormtroopers from the first VOTC sculpt forward. I would say every VOTC Stormtrooper has yellowed in the torso (over 50.) Many of the follow-up variants of that sculpt have started, but haven't gotten quite as bad. I believe the Space Trooper version has remained pretty white, as well as the Luke and Han stormtroopers and the Sandtroopers I cleaned the "dirt" off of have been pretty good.
-
While I don't have as many as you, My stormtroopers look pretty good....no real yellowing that I can see. I also keep the shades on the window in my collection room down at all times.
-
I really haven't displayed mine. That's the thing. They spend years at a time in boxes or tubs. I've done the photography thing twice and they've been exposed to light for a couple weeks at a time every couple of years, maybe. Many of my VOTC Scout Troopers have yellowed in the chest as well.
-
Mine yellowed in tubs away from light. My 2006 Commander Cody was one of the worst offenders, that and Marvel comic pack R2-D2
-
Mine yellowed on display, but the room is pitch black 99% of the time.
I think it’s just the plastic.
-
All of my Stormtroopers, Scout Troopers, and Clones from 2004-09ish have yellowed or are starting to yellow
-
One glaring oversight on my part was failing to ask Hasbro about a holster on the stormtrooper. It's hard to imagine that they'd go though the effort to update this figure and not include a holster, but sadly, this looks like the case. :'(
-
This Stormtrooper represents the Jedha Stormtrooper from Rogue One, re-using the sculpt Hasbro tooled up for the Mimban Stormtroopers from Solo. Neither of those troopers had the holster, so no holster on the figure.
I'm not sure why Disney OT-Era Stormtroopers no longer have the holster, unless they just kinda forgot that detail or wanted to make the costume cheaper or something.

-
Also, weird that they included a white holster for the 6" Mimban trooper only to have it not be able hold the blaster due to the new blaster sculpt with light on the side.

Eek! Never noticed that. Although I guess I can't blame Hasbro for being accurate, I still do. :P
-
So it looks like the 3.75" Black Series Chewbacca is getting reissued in this wave. Presumably, as VC 141. As Chewbacca figures go, this is a pretty good one. And the Early Bird version has been reissued at least a couple of times since the original issue (one of my favorite Chewie figures, personally).
I'm kind of curious about the cardback for this release. Hasbro used the image from the original Chewbacca release on a Kenner card for the 2004 VOTC version, but that figure was styled like a TESB/ROTJ Chewie. And I think that VOTC version was on either a ROTJ card, too. Are they going to use that original image again? It would be odd if they used the one from the Kenner ROTJ cardback.
-
From what I’ve seen in databases, it is labeled as “E4” so hopefully is the first issue Star Wars card back. That being said Revan is label as “E9” so take that for what it’s worth.
-
Guesses as to case pack?
I would Guess:
2x Lando
2X Stormtrooper
1x Praetorian Guard
1x Chewbacca
1x Klaatu Skiff Guard
1x Yak Face
Not ideal for me, but I'd think this makes sense.
-
Not ideal for me, but I'd think this makes sense.
Except you forgot Phasma who is supposed to be in this wave too.
I'm hoping they have enough sense to go 2x on the Stormtrooper, but who knows anymore at this point what they're thinking.
-
It’s anrough wave to me. The kinda thing ripe to hit in droves. But such is life. They can’t all be wave 2 or the last wave.
-
They need to double up on Praetorians as well. That was HTF in the TBS line.
-
They need to double up on Praetorians as well. That was HTF in the TBS line.
HTF at Walmart maybe, but it has been sitting in-stock at EE (https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/HSC3621?id=JE-405087801) for a long time (all four from that wave are rotting at EE). 1x per caseto feed the carded collectors is enough for any of the Walmart 3.75" Black Series TFA/TLJ figures IMHO.
-
Except you forgot Phasma who is supposed to be in this wave too.
I completely forgot she was due at all. Okay. Then...
2x Lando
2X Stormtrooper
1x Praetorian Guard
1x Chewbacca
1x Phasma
1x Yak Face or Scariff Trooper
Better, but I should have put a little more thought into my reluctance of getting another Yak Face and Klatuu Skiff guard in that I had been thinking about pick up an extra of each for permanent display in my Barge as I keep a display of the latest versions of the original 93 +.
-
Looking at the new pics posted over at Yakface (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2019/04/01/new-tvc-wave-6-carded-and-loose-images/#more-42657), it looks like they changed plans on Chewbacca.
The Chewbacca they showed at Comic-Con Paris was the ANH head Chewbacca (https://jedidefender.com/news/images/2018_10/hasbro_starwars_TVC_375inch_chewbacca.jpg) (last seen in the 2014 Black Series 'tie pilot' card). The Chewbacca they are showing now is the ROTJ head Chewbacca (OTC Chewie, last seen in the 2015 Black Series Walmart box line).
Not sure why they switched it. Too bad they messed that up as the ROTJ Chewie looks dumb on the ANH card back.
-
It's still a good Chewbacca. I would like for them to do a Solo version...would go nice with the Han Solo we have.
-

Put the bandolier from the SOLO 5 POA Chewie on this new TVC Chewie and you pretty much have a SOLO SA Chewie
-
Yeah....just need to get ahold of a 5 POA Chewie for that. I'd rather Hasbro cater to my needs and provide me with the SA figure I desire! :D

Are the Lando and Stormtrooper the only new figures in this wave?

Are the Lando and Stormtrooper the only new figures in this wave?
Someone should start a detailed release list (https://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php/topic,20182.0.html) that keep track of which figures are in each wave, which ones are new, which are repacks, which are repaints, etc. :-X
-
Thanks Jeff. I didn't realize you noted in the master list which were new and which were repacks. Thanks!

This wave is starting to go up for pre-orders today. Here is the affiliate link to JD sponsor Entertainment Earth:
Case of 8 (https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/HSE0370F?id=JE-405087801) - 2x SOLO Lando, 2x Chewbacca, 2x RO Stormtrooper, 1x TLJ EPG, 1x Phasma
Should be up on Hasbro Pulse sometime soon as well I believe.

Nice, thanks! I just preordered the final 13 stormies I needed to replace the POTF2 versions standing in the back of my display. The hinged-knee ones with revealable blaster damage, not the 1996 ones.

Always! :D

Hmmm...I entered through the link above, but then searched for the stormtrooper alone. Does that still give you a credit?
Correction: I ordered 9 stormies. Not sure where the 13 came from in my head.

I do...I really do.

Is Chewbacca a repack or did they do any photoreal paint apps on him? I guess same question for Lando...any idea if they're using the new paint apps?
Also, Jeff: EE has put individual figures from this wave up. Can we just follow any EE affiliate link here and navigate around when buying for you to get credit, or do we need some direct links? Want to make sure you guys get that sweet, sweet gold pressed latinum.

I think as long as you use the front page link it works and you can just search for what all you want. That’s how I’ve always done my own random searching. The

Is it weird that these haven't shown up on Hasbro Pulse?
Yes. I've been watching and never saw them go up. There haven't been any reports of this showing up even briefly and selling out.
I'd been hoping for HasbroPulse to carry these, but I may have to resort to Amazon or EE.
-
I have been hoping for this wave to show up on Hasbro Pulse as well - since the case is not evenly packed, Hasbro Pulse is my only hope to score a 2nd opener of the young Lando figure (which is AMAZING). I got a case from EE, plus I already ordered another five of the Rogue One Stormtrooper so I can have 6 of those open. I really don't need more of the Chewie, Phasma or Praetorian guard, but if I could score another Phasma and Praetorian for MSRP or cheaper, so I could open them and add the cardback to my cardback collection from all the vintage figures I've opened I'd be happy, but I won't be devastated if that never happens.
Have these figures shown up anywhere besides places like EE, BBTS and Dorkside? I haven't even seen them listed on Amazon.
-
This is odd. The tracker said it was estimating a delivery of today, but the status has never gone past the creation of the label, and now the estimated delivery date is pending.
I wonder what's going on? Anyone else having issues?
-
My case is on the way. No word on my solid cases of Stormtroopers yet.
-
My Stormtroopers are on their way and I just noticed that EE has up for order individuals of all the other figures in this wave, so I put in an order for another young Lando and a Phasma and Praetorian just so I could have one of each of those to open.
-
So I e-mailed EE about my order status and magically Fed Ex started updating. Not a slam on EE at all....honestly, this is the first time in the many orders I've put through them that there was any kind of a hiccup. The stormtroopers should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get a good look at these!
-
I pulled the trigger on a full set from Dorksidetoys.com that had non-mint cardbacks. At $10 per figure it was worth it. And I ordered some additional Stormtroopers, too.
-
Received my Stormtroopers yesterday. They look amazing! Great for any Rogue One display....I wish they had a holster so I could use them elsewhere.
Something interesting I noticed is that there's a grey paint detail on the TD on one of my troopers, but the second one does not have that. Looking at the cardback, that paint detail is on the RO trooper....it's not something you see on them in other movies.
After putting together a TK suit and working on 501st approval, I have noticed I really scrutinize Stormtrooper armor now! ;D

I was reading over at Bantha Skull that a lot of the Stormies on Endor didn't have holsters either, so you could certainly use them there.
In my Empire display, there are plenty of officers standing in front of them, so if someone can even notice that there's no holster, they get a cookie. I'll certainly buy more if they release them with holsters, but I plan to get my hands on as many of these as possible. I have my older stormies sitting in a hydrogen peroxide bath out in the sun on the deck to see if I can get them to un-yellow a bit.
-

I really think the holster thing is over-rated since it's so inconsistent in the movies.
StarWars.com Stormtrooper Pic Gallery (https://www.starwars.com/stormtroopers-history-gallery)
Look through the pics and see how inconsistent it is. ANH has troopers with no holsters, left side holsters or right side holsters (even within the same scenes - Tantive and DS). In ESB (Cloud City), the holster is always on the right hand side. Most of the ROTJ Stormtroopers have no holster (Death Star II and Endor).
Just take these awesome new Stormtroopers, enjoy them, and put them in whatever scenes you'd like. ;)
-
Every scene, holsters be damned! 8)
-
I hit reply with no real plan but to say amen to Jeff's last paragraph.
-
What Jeff said... some sandtroopers didn’t have rank pauldrons, holsters were there then not and no rhyme or reason. I just chalk it up to troopers being individuals even in the fairly strict empire. 🤷♂️

Tracking info indicates that my shipment is coming in today. Looking forward to seeing the new Stormtroopers firsthand!
-
Yeah, it was pointed out to me that even in ANH, not all stormtroopers have holsters, so I'm not as annoyed. That said;
Hasbro really should retire all previous stormtrooper molds. I put the Han Stormtrooper head on the RO Stormtrooper and it looks amazing. It looks to me that the Stormtrooper belt is a separate piece, so should be easy to tool new belts to give us a holster and another with the proper Luke stormtrooper belt.
At this point, I'm just going to replace one company in army with these RO Troopers and perhaps sell the outdated and yellowed company of VOTC stormtroopers.
As for the movie inconsistencies, that all really talks to the different attitudes between all three films while being filmed. In ANH (I cringe having to make the note. It just should be SW!) They were just making a movie, never in a million years expecting that every detail in every frame would be studied and analyzed. But they still cared as much as the budget would allow. In Empire, there was a ton of discipline and attention to detail. Unfortunately with Jedi they were more or less phoning it in, probably as a result of the change in the producing staff.
-

Everytime I see a new and improved Stormtrooper, I weep a little bit for your bank account!

I agree 100%....even my kids call that movie Star Wars!

I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to get a Lando or not, but Amazon has a listing for "Star Wars Hermes Action Figure" that shows pictures of Vintage Collection Lando at a regular $12.99 price point. So I gave it a try.

Got mine today, it was Lando as expected. :)

Mine showed up yesterday....in a mailer envelope. Good thing I was opening it!
Overall great figure! Odd choice of weapon though, I don't remember him wielding a hand cannon like this one! :D

Got my EE Shipment notification for my stormies. Exciting times.
My buddy has my half of the case we r splitting for the rest.

My Lando came in today, nicely boxed. One more off the list. Thanks again to Rob for posting the link

Oooo! Mine should be ready shortly. I'm been endlessly posing my one Stormie from the wave 6 case. It's nearly unlimited in how it can be posed! I feel a photo project on the horizon. ;)
-
Opened Lando this afternoon and while the figure is visually pleasing overall, there could have been a couple of things done better. As already mentioned, the blaster muzzle is huge and doesn't allow the blaster to work with the Holster. Had they made the muzzle removable like in the 6" line that would have been great.
The paint app on my head is weird, the creases in his forehead have been painted with this new print tech and it just is awkward. I have to find a way to clean it up. Speaking of cleanup, they printed the product code and timestamp on the right leg in a spot where it's visible from the front.
It's disappointing that these small details continue to be missed, but at least with a little work I can correct them all
-
With a little thinner and some patience I was able to fix the forehead of Lando. Now this guy is looking suave and not at all neaderthalish...
Also took a silver sharpie to a spare Deathtrooper pistol to make a suitable replacement for Lando’s cannon sidearm. Now the holster can actually function.

Has anyone thrown a Solo Chewbacca bandolier on a VC Chewbacca (or anything similar)? Curious to see if I can get myself a quick Solo Chewie.

Please do, it’s such a satisfying and quick custom to make. Just beware that the VOTC Chewie’s bandolier is held in place both by glue and little pegs that go into his body. You will want to put him in some hot water first to soften those pegs up.

Not me....I love seeing what others have done, but I've never really done anything myself.
Although my free time lately has been devoted to building lego tables for my boys.

Got some stormies... they’re cool. I mean I’m not gonna ditch my old guys but these are def cooler. At $13 a pop and not really needing a mountain more I’ll probably limit myself to a little squad and call it a day. If Hasbro had some magical way to get these out in a white mailer box of 4 for less I’d consider retiring some older figures though.

That was the beauty of the commtech stormie....that thing got re-released a bunch of times! Even in a few army builder packs!

That would be a ******* dream come true!
Guys, I've been chatting with Jesse on Twitter about this, but I figured I'd post here. If you have a bunch of older Stormies in the back of your display that are starting to get yellow, throw them in a glass jar (or a bunch of glass jars, because let's be honest), and fill them up with hydrogen peroxide, the mild solution you can get at CVS for first aid. Put them in the sun for a couple of days, and the yellow parts will whiten up. The best thing is, the details remain intact. It even works with Scout Troopers, which were looking pretty long-in-the-tooth in my display.
Obviously they'll never be a replacement for new, pristine white plastic, and the white matching from piece to piece was never perfect, but you'll get a few more years out of them (at least).
I didn't try the commtech ones (I actually gave a big handful of them to my son, who acted like it was second Christmas the other day), but the Vintage Collection from 2004 and the Legacy Collection(?) ones work great. I also did the Scout Troopers. You can take off all of their heads to save some space in the jars, but I recommend putting the 2004 Stormie heads in there too, as it whitened them up pretty well.
I'll grab some pics later. Unfortunately I didn't take any before pics.

This definitely works? I have 79 VOTC Stormtroopers and about 40 Biker Scouts. Nearly all have yellowed. It'll be exciting to bring them back to life.

Yup. But you're going to need a lot of jars.

Yep. Works! Tried out my Biker scouts and the difference is pretty amazing. Still not a perfect match and the shoulder hinges seem to be stubborn, but I'm super psyched. I think it started working even before I put them in direct sunlight. Gonna give it another day to see if the yellowed parts can go any whiter.
Thanks guys!

You guys need to look up Retr0brite. There’s a Clairol product I’ll get the name of when I get home from vacation that works as well as the formula does and is premixed, but I’m not sure what it would do to black parts of a stormtrooper. I have enough that I’d be totally happy to try it though.

I might have to look that up. I've got loads of VOTC Stormtroopers and Scout Troopers that could probably use the treatment just from having looked at some of my carded figures that I was looking through earlier this week.

The Stormtrooper and Lando (and a few other new ones) are up on Hasbro Pulse now... limit two, but I finally managed to order a pair at regular prices...

FYI, here's the Retrobrite youtube video I watched where this guy dissects the whole thing...

And here's a link to the hair care product he found was as effective without having to create a recipe:

Chewie is in stock for $6 on Amazon through seller Kickin’ Toys with free shipping. I ordered one, so I’ll see how good the packing is.

Continuing the discussion, I'm still not sure if I've got the process down pat yet. There has absolutely been a remarkable difference in the figures I've Hydrogen Peroxided in general, but some still maintain a greenish tinge. Also, it seems that the scout troopers I'm nearly complete whitened are yellowing already after a week. Trying to let the figure soak longer, see if that makes any difference. I've got tons of time.

Yeah, I'd say it's not a perfect solution, but it does give a bit more time with these figures. Mine didn't get 100% white, since the plastic in the torso and the plastic in the limbs is different, but it got them to a really acceptable point. I haven't noticed my figures re-yellowing though. That's new.
