Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season 2005
« on: September 2, 2005, 12:41 AM »
For every gang member looting and shooting at police, there are many more honest people hoping to be rescued.

Among them, several of my co-workers families.

Please keep that in mind.

Yeah, my point exactly!  and if the police/national guard  didn't have to contend with all the idiots, they would have more police available to help with the rescue and much more time they could spend trying to get to your co-workers families!!!!!!

Well, I'm back and forth between the TV here, and they were just showing how a group of National Guardsmen fell under fire from gangs with AK-47's (which I find hard to belive that a civilian could tell an AK-47 from a hole in the ground) and how they're being forced to retreat. They are saying that there have been killings, robbery, and rape.

Kevin

Half of the downtown urban area of New Orleans is a Ghetto, that's been going on for decades, don't think it's new just becasue of the hurricanes, it's just that it's now in the public eye.

and remeber a camera doesn't lie.  What you're seeing in New Orleans...heh that's it!

The media will try to make them sound like porr souls with no where left to trun, and they have to do what they have to do to "survive".

Please, you don't think there were thousands just waiting for the rains to stop just to be able to loot and waiting for an excuse to act like @ssholes.

Thsi should make for some good TV, I'll be watchign tonight after the Steelers game, I'm popping some popcorn tonight.  :^)

It was truly a rare occation when I saw a POTC in my neck of the woods, and I usually find most figs fairly easy.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the regualr OTC weren't on the shelves long, let alone the POTC variations.

On top of that I'll still stick to my original claim that certain package variations like the MYO and Trevagg with cup and/or blaster in the bubble vs. in the hand are hands down THE  rarest modern Star Wars figures to be produced PERIOD.

Should be very interesting to see what the future holds for the entire OTC line.

Revenge of the Sith / Target clear figure cases
« on: August 31, 2005, 03:53 PM »
Today my Target had 2 packs of the 5-pack clear figure cases in a black Vader/lava package, the package kind of "frames" the cases.

Not sure if they re-molded them to fit the figs this time or what.

Weird, never saw anything on this, didn;t know they were dist. these again.

Star Wars Universe / Re: Star Wars Actors other movies

Sorry, they might have been mentioned.

Sleepy Hollow had a ton of SW talent.  Ray Parks was the stunt/fill in for the headless horseman. MacDirmad was in it, and so was Christopher Lee.

3 SW in one movie :^)

Well, as I assumed, not too many people with these figs.

Interesting.  Very interesting to say the least.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Toy Runs affected by Gas Prices?
« on: August 28, 2005, 11:35 PM »
Haven;t affected me one bit.

I haven't been doing too many dedicated toy runs lately.  I've just been hitting the stores on my normal times I'm out and about, so I;m not going out of my way to begin with, besides, a few cents increase is still minimal when compared to all my normal daily, weekly, monthly expenses.

Too much of a big deal is made out of gas prices.

Uh, that thing about the bootlegs was a joke.  Beckett was selling Bootleg DVDs on Rebelscum 2  years ago.  He got all pissed off at me when I pointed out it was against the site rules, Pappy Wise actually sided with me on that one and he stopped selling them

Gotcha, heh, I didn't pick up on that.  :^)

I like the fan-films too, I have about 4 or 5 fan film DVD's, and that ever-popular Turkish Star Wars, etc. etc.

Always cool to have in the SW "library"

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: OTC Myo, Trevagg variations
« on: August 26, 2005, 09:49 AM »
Cool, yeah, I'm just amazed these don't seem to get any play.  That Dannick variation has GOT to be the Hardest to find modern around with the other 2 packaging variants to follow.  Just amazing that something no one has ever even seen or heard of gets little to no attention.

There was an early thread over at RS about them, but then it dropped off pretty quickly. Swept under the rug, never to be heard of again.

Especially with all the completists out there, here's 3 I bet few have.  I still keep my eyes peeled at teh toy shows and all, I would imagine you scould still stumble upon one of these cheap and end up with quite the find.

Original Trilogy Collection / OTC Myo, Trevagg variations
« on: August 26, 2005, 12:34 AM »
Wanted to post t oget an idea on these two figs:

The OTC Myo and Trevagg figures both have a decent packaging variation.  Myo was both packed with the cup in hand, and were also made with the cup packaged in the bubble.  The Trevagg figure has the gun packaged both in hand and in the bubble.  In both,  the bubble is a completely different mold made to hold the weapon and cup.  (the accessory in bubble is the rare variant)

Now,  I'm aware packaging variations aren't quite as popular as a figure/paint  variation however, when the OOM-009 EPI fig came out with a similar variation, this variation was highly talkd about, and highly sought after, not only that but all-in-all it was faily common for a package variation, and originally prices were typically abotu $7 for a normal one, $25 for the package variation(you can get them cheaper now of course).  I'm guessing becasue enough had it and "wanted" it, or hoped to go for some $$$$.

As far as the Myo and Trevagg, I had asked around at CIII, and again at the recent Pgh. toy show, and darn near EVERy vendor at both conventions had never heard nor seen this variation.   It DOES exist, I have both variations, the only variation I don't have is the Dannick variation with the straight tentacle w/ no loop-never saw it, only a pic, leading me to believe this sucker is "Super-rare" :^) ) This wave of variations has now become sort of a "project" for me.

So, after searching, and giving this a lot of thought, I've kind of come to my own conclusion that these could possibly be the "rarest" and yes I use "rare" which I usually don't use too often, becasue I truly think these are 2 figs that are practically non-existant (practically).

Saying this in a vary nice way...Anyone care to prove me wrong?   and I don't mean 20 people simply saying "oh yeah I saw huindreds of those, trying to dispell the claim, I mean post some pics with you and the variants.  I'm dying to know exactly how few of these puppies there are.  To give you an idea, in my group, PSWCS, I think there are a good handful of us that have the Weequay FF whichi is touted as a very "rare" fig, yet I think maybe only one other in the group has actually seen a Myo w/cup in the bubble.

Also, call me crazy, but if you do find one, I suggest grabbing it, not only becasue the OTC period seem to be hot, the cantina aliens, for some were also slightly harder to find than the rest of the line, but now theres a variant of a HTF fig that NO ONE seems to even seen let alone own.

Serious thoughts and opinions please, love to hear the comments.

Thanks.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Speculate for me
« on: August 26, 2005, 12:10 AM »
Well, my opinion is that EP III seems to be a little different than EP I and II.

EPI and EP II seemd to see vintage prices jump a good bit, to later settle.  For some reason, now with EP III prices are all over the board on everything both vintage and modern.

There are some vinatge pieces that seem to go for 3 times what they were months ago, yet, at the same time there are some absolute steals on some vintage items.  Certain figs seemed to not have budged, vehicles and playsets don't seem to be going real high, oddball stuff can be found pretty easily and very affordable.

I can;t explain, maybe only that there's been just so much stuff produced over the last few years, and all the influx of the modern for EP III maybe has put a "lull" on vintage for a small time period?

I wouldn;t worry, I think it will be strong in the long run, but when I see a modern Clone Wars Anakin starfighter go on Ebay for over $90 (that had been sitting on shelves a year ago) and Unleashed figs for over $100 (that also had been peqwarming just 6 months ago) and vintage boxed vehicles go for $30 or less (that are almost 30 years old), to me thats just screwy, and I couldn't explain it in a million years.

Just bought the 2005 Official Price Guide to Star Wars Memorabillia by Jeremy Beckett.

How much are bootleg SW DVD's going for?

Well, not sure about the book, but at the Pgh. toyshow a few weeks back, they were going for $10 apiece.
