Added the MASSIVE "Cinemacast" Darth Vader statue (low numbered- #267) to my Haves. He got a bit dinged up in the move (paint chip on left shoulder pauldron, thin part on top of lightsaber handle broke off) but he displays just fine and can be made good as new with some gloss black paint :)

Collections / Glass Display Cases- Show 'Em If Ya Got 'Em!
« on: January 31, 2006, 08:10 PM »
NOTHING beats a nice glass case to display some of your your favorite toys in!

I rescued this from a CVS I used to manage (it was where the perfumes were locked up in the cosmetics department):

It's 9' long by 6' 6" high by 1' deep and weighs almost 1200 pounds! They were just going to throw it away when the store was getting it's 1997 re-fit! I went out to my '76 Malibu wagon and pulled out my tool box, went back inside and disassembled the whole thing in about 45 minutes and loaded it into the bed of my wagon (after folding the backseat flat). I had to build a custom support for the mirrored back and metal shelf rails as it was designed to be mounted directly to the wall of the store, so there was no back on it. I've moved it 4 times (home from the store into my first apartment, from my first apartment to my second apartment, from my second apartment to my friend's basement for storage, and now from my friend's basement to my new apartment last December) and the only damage it got was a cracked piece of plexiglass that covers the top (which alittle epoxy fixed right up ;) ).

Added a bunch of cool stuff today including statues, a "Theatre Edition" Luke Skywalker figure from the release of the "Special Edition" of "Return Of The Jedi", and some salesman sample McFarlane "X-Files: Fight The Future" figures that I got a few months before their retail release from a McFarlane rep I met through Toy Fair years ago (I used to get lots 'o goodies from the different companies).

The salesman samples have dates on their feet so I don't think you can classify them as prototypes, but they're interesting none the less. The Mulder and Scully figures both come with a flashlight and cell phone while the production figures came with one or the other (Mulder had the flashlight and Scully had the cell) and the Aliens are the much harder to find original bright green w/yellow highlights color scheme that was phased out of the production line after the first run. The Flukeman was intended to be part of the second series where characters from the tv episodes would be added to the line. He's quite a bit taller than the other figures as he was never completely pantographed down to the scale of the rest of the line. He has dates on his feet indicating that it was intended for retail release and small numbers of them may actually have been released through McFarlane's Collector Club, but I'm not sure.

Modern Trading / Re: To All I Am Trading With...(Updated 1/30)

First off, I'm feeling much better :)

I'm still somewhat nauseous from the antibiotics and the areas in my mouth that were opened up are still quite sore and uncomfortable, but I'm back on my feet and on my way to a full recovery :D

Thanks go out to everyone who has reached out to me in this dark and painful time, I really appreciated all of the posts, PMs, e-mails, and calls. It gives me a really warm feeling inside to know that there are so many people across the country were worried about my well being. Thanks again :D

Second, everyone's packages went out in todays mail so you should all get your goodies before the end of the week :)

Chewie,

Great updates as always! While I like the Whipwid, I gotta go with the Imperials as my favorites for this update. Pallaeon is just ten kinds of cool!

Removed the big Godzilla as I have decided to use him for my "Deep Sea Danger!" custom project.

I added an original Crimson Guard v1 backpack to my Haves though.

Also, look for a BIG update to my Haves List tomorrow or Monday night!

Findswoman and I have traded many times in the past (and currently have a deal going through). She's quick to ship, packs everything really well, and provides friendly communication every step of the way!

Findswoman has earned the "Spectre Seal Of Approval"!

Just completed my first trade with Clone Hunter! I'm very satisfied with the speed and communication.

Clone Hunter has earned the "Spectre Seal Of Approval"!

GIjoe Undertow comes with a silver Baracuda.

What about the War Whale and attack squid from the Neo MOTU series?

I considered both of these optios, but the barracuda is too recognizable as an earthly animal and the MOTU ones are cyborgs :(

This challenge is harder than I thought.

I'm planning for an aquatic themed line of customs that will debut in the fall (yes, I actually plan things out that far ahead ;) ) and have begun attempting to compile a list of all of the suitable fodder for otherworldly undersea life.

The storyline behind the upcoming custom line is something like this (imagine the following passage in the "Movie Trailer Guy"'s voice :D ):

On Aquos, a world deep in the outer rim almost completely covered by water, the inhabitants (in their wooden-hulled hover boats!) are being menaced by an unknown threat from beneath the sea (although our British friends might find this threat somewhat familiar ;) ). At the request of help from the planet's ruling council, the New Republic Intellicence Agency sends Galactic Intelligence: Joint Operations Elite's aquatic warfare specialist, the Quarren code-named Deep Six, to investigate and neutralize the threat. Deep Six has faced both the Galactic Empire's Seatroopers and The Brotherhood Of The Serpent's Hydro-Vipers and been victorious, but he's about to face the deadliest living thing beneath the waves...

So far I've come up with these aquatic beasties:

"King Kong" snakefish (don't have one yet :( )

"Dino Valley" small pleisiosaurus (got about 5 of them right now :) )

"Dino Valley" Luiripidon (never seen one in a store :( )

"Pirate Expeditions" squid (got one :) ), large octopus, and shark (still need these 2)

"Episode I" various sea creatures (got multiples of 'em all :D )

"Waterworld" translucent fish pack-in accessories (don't have any yet :( )

various solid vinyl sea creatures from the company that makes toy animals for zoos/museums/Discovery Channel Stores (I have a pair of awsome deep sea fish that have glow in the dark accents!)

"McFarlane Dragons" Water Clan 2 Dragon (waiting for the enevitable clearance before picking up this guy ;) )

"Alien Resurrection" Swimming Alien (don't have one of these anymore :( )

"G.I. Joe" Hydro-Viper devilfish (stingrays)

Here's where you come in: I need the customizing community here at Jedidefender to put their collective heads together and come up with other lines' sea creature accessories to add to the list (and my want list in the Trade Section ;) ).

There are some guidelines though, they can't be just regular everyday-looking fish. They have to have an "alien" quality to them, think deep sea bioluminesent predators, or chitinous crab monsters. They can be real-life fish, but they have to be really outlandish looking. I'd like to stick to a smaller size if possible just so I don't have to deal with any Leviathan-sized beasts since they'd beharder to display n a shelf, maybe a max length of 6" or 7"?

Looking forward to seeing the results :)

Thanks :D

Darth Nirvana,

You certainly produce alot of figures in a short period of time! I'm not a Clone fan myself, but I have to admire your enthusiasm for the customizing hobby :D

My only suggestion (aside from doing something other than yet more Clones anyway ;) ) would be arm them with weapons that are not obvoiusly Earthly in origin. The BBI weapons are great and all, but are far too regognizable as the automatic firearms they are. Even if you do something as simple as relocating the magazine (clip) around so it sticks out horizontally from middle of the left side of the weapon (like most SW blaster rifles) and removed the sights at the end of the barrels it would make them look a bit more sci-fi in nature.

I'm using one of my spare Ephont Mons thusly:

This is a WIP I'm currently calling "Snake Mon", but that name will change after I decide on a species name and cultural background for him :)

The torso and arms are, of course, our oversized friend Ephont Mon. The lower body (tail) and hands are from a "Spawn" figure named "Sansker". The head is an original "Jurassic Park" Dimetrodon. The spiked club is from a "Spawn" Ogre. The neck scarf (to hide the slight gap between the back of the Dimetrodon head and Ephont Mon's flat neck area) was trimmed from the first POTF2 Obi Wan Kenobi. The belt is a wide ruberband with a buckle from a "Maxx Steel" mountain climbing harness.

I am still deciding on a colorscheme for him. I'm thinking a dark burgundy with red or orange highlights for the flesh simply to get away from all of the green/brown/tan reptiloids we always see in sci fi films/toys.

Whadda ya think?

Chewie, Nice updates!

My favorite has to be the battle armor Kala, nice weathering and overall design work.

The Bith merc is also very well done. Great color choice on this one as well.

You're going to laugh, but I actually planned on giving that exact same Predator cape (P.S.- if you ever decide you no longer want that Pred's spear, drop me a line :) ) to one of my spare Sneak Preview Wookie Warriors! Great minds think alike I guess ;)

As always, great work and I'm looking forward to seeing all of these great characters pop up in future chapters of your photonovel :)
