Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Toys Thread

I was on a big toy run on Saturday and only found carded figures in two stores.  One was KB and they had 1 lone carded Cobra Commander.  Target had 4 Snake Eyes (grey wolf) and 1 Flint, that's it.

My local Target store has 4 5-packs and I've seen 5-packs in one K-Mart and I think I saw at least one at either a second Target or TRU, I forget which.

I've only seen one black wolf and that was very early on at K-Mart.  My Target stocked the single packs a few times but I never saw a black wolf there.  I'm glad now I bought it when I found it.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Price of toys to increase 10% in 2008?
« on: September 14, 2007, 06:05 PM »
Price wise, the current $7 price was almost a deal breaker for me.  If it hadn't been for the coins and the fact that the TAC line has been so well done I'd probably be buying less than I did last year.  If they jump another $1 per figure I will be down to strictly new characters and, depending on who those characters are, maybe not even all of them.

I understand the need for safety in everything, not just toys, but if a company like Hasbro has been able to self regulate I think it sucks that they'd get penalized along with the other companies.

I do love this quote though:
Quote
For her twin sons' birthday next month, McMorow will be avoiding traditional toys and looking at playswings or a sand box. "Nothing they can chew on or swallow," she said.

Like a kid has never eaten sand or bit off a chunk of his pressure treated swingset...

I think Hasbro does the same thing with their TF exclusives as they do their Star Wars exclusives and that's drop the assortment number from the packaging.  The re-paint Jazz at Target, for example, has a number but no assortment.

The packaging for these new sets have assortment numbers so I'm guessing they're not exclusives.  Which is good.  More opportunities to find the Bumblebee set.

I just hope Hasbro figures out what the problem is getting their action figures to store shelves.  Then I'll be happy.

They're 6" for the most part.  I think they did some smallish characters because the Pitt figure was so large.  The sculpts on some like Madman, Dragon, Witchblade...they're good, but they're not overly involved nor do they have a lot of paint apps.

I wasn't really keen on any of the figures from the first wave but the Pitt figure is awesome and I was more then happy to buy them for that figure.

Now I'm starting to get pissed.  Target stocked exactly one case of Deluxe today and guess what 1 figure wasn't on the shelf when I got there?  Yeah...

****.

I have never seen High School Musical, but Vanessa Hudgens sure makes me want to...

Evidently the naked photo of her circulating the interwebs has been confirmed to be her and Disney just fired her.  Boo on Disney.  Yay for the rest of us.

I'd heard her music but never paid much attention to her till I saw an interview with her the other night...didn't know who she was at first.  Definite hottie.

I found Yoda and Vader sabers at a local TRU a few weeks ago.

Anyone remember when TRU blew out the MR Sting swords from LOTR?  I bought one for some ridiculous price like $14.99 or something.

Crap in a hat.  I skipped one day of hitting the local stores, yesterday, and sure enough, both WM and Target stocked the deluxe Transformers wave with the concept Bumblebee in it.

I think WM only got one case but I don't know what Target got, at least one but I don't know if they got more.  Of course, no 'Bee figure.

Target did have an assload of their excluisves, though.  Eight or more of the G1 Jazz re-paint and 10 or more of the Starscream re-paint.  Both stores had the big Ultimate BB.

If they add the iPhone interface to the iPod I may be getting in line to buy my first iPod.  I don't have an iPhone but after seeing what they've done with it from a technology standpoint, I find it to be incredibly interesting.

Well of the Souls / speculation

The more I've been thinking about this line the less I actually think I'm going to buy.  I really want a 12" Indy from Raiders and an Ark accessory and that's about it.

I'm happy toys are being made and, by the looks, will be well supported.  I just think I was buying into the hype of the line.

Just picked up Caverns of Socrates by Dennis L. McKiernan.

Jeff

That's a really good book.  I read that a few years ago.  Have you read his Mithgar books?  Similar to the Hobbit and LOTR, at least in the Iron Tower trilogy, but really good books.

I am in desperate need of a new read. Any suggestions?

Have you ever read the "Hyperion" books by Dan Simmons?  If not, those are really good.

I just finally started reading the "Harry Potter" books.  Already wrapped up the first two and I'm about half way into "Prisoner of Azkaban."
