Udeze was dropping in part to FALSE rumors about him having a problem with his shoulder.  I was under the impression that he is still projected a top ten pick.

Oh, I agree. I really don't think he'll be available, but I watched an ESPN show with some guys OTHER than Mel Kiper (why does Mel Kiper have this job, he's not very good at it), and they were projecting him to fall at around 16 or 17. The Cowboys have been known to trade up if they thought they could get someone worthwhile. If someone with a pick in the teens wants to trade down, 22 isn't that far down, and they would pick up an extra pick. If they traded with Dallas, and if Udeze is still available at that level, we'll take him.

Again, the point is fairly moot, as I am not of the opinion he will drop that far out of the top 10 if he does at all.

I LOVE draft day!

Look for the Cowboys to draft the VERY underrated Chris Perry.

Quote
Position: Running Back

School: Michigan

Status: Senior

Height: 6-1

Weight: 228

40-Yard Dash: 4.55

Positives: Chris Perry is a shifty runner, but he can also run with power. He has good size, quickness, and speed, and he picks up yardage after contact. He has good vision and instincts for finding the hole. He possesses good cut-back ability, catches the ball well in the flat, and is a solid blocker. He's tough in short-yardage situations.

Negatives: Perry is one of the most complete backs in the draft, but he does not have breakaway speed. There are also concerns that because he has played behind very good lines his entire college career, he might not be quite as good as he has looked at Michigan.

Projection: He is probably not a franchise back, but he is a solid football player. He will most likely be a second-round selection, but he could slip into the end of the first.

They said the same thing about Emmitt Smith when he came out, especially the part about not enough break away speed or that he could not be a franchise back. The vision they talk about was the key to Emmitt's success in the NFL. Well, and the fact Emmitt played behind one of the most dominant lines in history.

If Perry is not available, look for the Cowboys to draft an OL, possibly Shawn Andrews, OT, Arkansas, unless Kenechi Udeze, DE, U.S.C. drops (he has been dropping lately).

Well, we see that "small ball" isn't playoff basketball. The Mavs could have won either of those games. But Finley has disappeared, Nash has sucked, and Dirk is having to haul the load by himself. That's not fair, and consequently, I'm thinking the Kings will take the Mavs in 6. I do believe we will win the next 2 at home--the Mavs have the league's best home record--but the Mavs also have a very bad away record, and I think the Kings will take one from us here.

Look for Don Nelson to be gone after this season. When you live by the jumpshot and the "3" with no "D," so shlal you die by it. No defense and cold shooters = 4-2 Kings advantage.

I DO hope that I am wrong. We went down 0-2 to Utah 3 years ago and wound up winning that series, but that's the only time we've done it.

The Patriots will find out what Cincy has known all along: Dillon is a locker room cancer. I was afraid the Cowboys might sign him. Apparently Parcells doesn't think much of the 30 year old malcontent. He may work out for the Pats. But realistically, look for about 600 yds after some injuries and complaints about # of carries.

Tom Hicks met with the Stars one last time and bitched them out. Heads will roll in Dallas. Expect the team and the front office to be gutted prior to next season. The Stars were sorry this year. As a fan, I'm ready to start from scratch, get some hungry players in here. The Stars haven't been worth a dAmn since they lost to the Devils in the finals a few seasons ago. It's been downhill ever since. No defense the past two seasons, and now no offense, either. Sorry, Mo, you'll have to go.

The damn STARS lost again! Turco is great all season then sucks when he gets tpo the playoffs. Our whole defense stinks. When your offensive philosophy is to win games 2-1 or 1-0, then you can't give up 5 frigging goals!

"Small Ball" is so far a success! Since switching to small ball, the Mavs are 6-0 and the margin of victory has been over 10 points in each game. Dallas is averaging 121.7 ppg and the average victory margin is 18.5 points. 4 of those teams are Western COnference playoff teams.

BUT Finley is hurt again. He may not play tonight. The upside is that our rookie Josh Howard has made the most of his playing time all season. 5 Maverick players are averaging 14 ppg or better.

I'm feeling pretty good about our chances in the playoffs.

Yeah, the STARS got spanked. But we only need to come away with 1 win in Denver and then defend the hell out of our home ice.

As the most enebriated (*hickup*) man on this board for tonight, and since it's my birthday (or it was 1 hour and 30some minutes ago), I proclaim Heineken the king of beers! Thank you, and g'night!

Yeah, I HATE the way we play defense (as in "none at all" or "let them shoot so we can get the ball back"). Has Don Nelson EVER coached a good defensive team? I mean, he played on the Celtics that won 10 out of 12 championships or some sh*t like that, for cryin' out loud!

Since they announced the line-up for this year's Lollapalooza, I've been listening to some old Sonic Youth, Morrissey, Polyphonic Spree...

Here's the line-up:

Morrisey,
Polyphonic Spree,
Sonic Youth,
String Cheese Incident
Flaming Lips,
Modest Mouse,
Interpol,
Libertines,
Atmosphere...more to come.

Aww, thanks fellas. That's a nice little script you have running. What does it say when it's no one birthday? Or does it just jump to the next person?

36. Damn, I'm old!

The Mavericks have gone 4-0 since switching their offensive philosophy to "small ball" which means Finley now plays small forward instead of 2 guard and Antoine Walker plays center. This will work for us until we have to play the Lakers. But we waxed Sacramento, Seattle, Phoenix and Cleveland since we've switched to this offense.

We are peaking right before the playoffs. We still probably won't get better than the #4 seed, but we're tied with the Grizzlies for 5th place and have the Jazz upcoming tomorrow night.

GO MAVS!
